The Great (Weekly) Exchange

This post (of weekly posts) is for individual members who want to swap/sell/share among yourselves. This post is where you can mention your items and outside listing/ auction site (like eBay and eCrater & the corresponding user ID). Please note: this posting is not for resellers.

Individual members can also request in this post, items that they are looking for and interested in buying. :)

Please note that any transactions are independent of this blog. (Especially since you will be using an outside listing/ auction site like eBay or eCrater.) I have no dealings or interactions with any of the potential communication, listings, or transactions. :) Moreover, please limit comments about items to swap/sell/share to the "Great (Weekly) Exchange" posts. (Refer to "A Quick Note to J.Crew Aficionadas" post.)

Do you have any items you would like to swap/sell/share among yourselves through your outside listing/auction site? Is there an item (or items) that you are looking for and interested in purchasing?

P.S. A really big "thanks you!" goes to JCrewBug who reminded me to post this today (I actually forgot to). (Thank you again JCrewBug!!!)

P.S.S. Happy Labor Day everyone!!! :)

  1. My b&m (Charleston, SC) had lots of the blue and white ruffle henleys, rhubarb belles, and luxe knit gathered tee in dark peacock and white on final sale (sorry, didn't check the price). They also had several size 4 of the paintbrush belle skirt.

If anyone sees the ruffle henley in dark gray in size large, please let me know. I want (need) this! :) Thanks.

  2. math teacher: maybe try the Norfolk VA location for the ruffle henley in dark gray. I was there last week, and they had quite a few.

    ReplyDelete
  3. kater: thanks. I'll give them a call in the morning.

  4. math teacher - I think the Austin, TX location had some. It's the one at Barton Springs Mall.

Did anyone else try on the airy knotted top? I really wanted it, but it fit oddly, and I'm wondering if it's just me.

  5. I have the Soiree Sweater Jacket in Heather Silver. Size Small. Got for bday but need the money. (Fiance's mom will never know) Willing to negotiate a price. rlm26@case.edu

  6. Can't fit into your size small soiree, but wondering how it fits? Is it true to size? It looks great, but I would need to order so wanted to see how it runs.thanks!
    Twiga.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Twiga: I'd say it runs a bit big. I think the S def looks good on me, I am usually a S. I probably could also fit into an XS is this one.

    ReplyDelete
  8. in not is, sorry. I haven't tried on the XS though so I can't say for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  9. jennifer, I had a few alterations done to make it fit. Totally worth it especially now that it's on sale

    ReplyDelete
  10. jennifer: fit me oddly too. like my boobs hung out or something. :) And I don't have big boobs.

  11. Thanks for the quick responses! New to the blog & loving it:) Wasn't aware that it was on sale- so bonus!

  12. I posted this in another thread:

math teacher: my b&m had a few ruffle henleys left in dark slate. I believe some were larges. 817-416-1098. Good luck!

Also, last night I called to request a "we'll find it for you" on an item that's no longer on-line. The CSR said she couldn't place the request because she couldn't find the item on-line/in her system. I even GAVE her the item number! She explained to me that since it doesn't show up on-line, she is unable to process the request...WHAT! If it was on-line, I wouldn't have to do the we'll find it"! I called back and the second CSR processed the request with no problem and the item was found in about 30 minutes!

Just another example of *really* bad cs. Like someone else said before, it's either really great or really bad, you just never know what you're going to get. Anyway, math teacher, I'm glad it seems to be working out for the best after all.

  13. Twiga: It's not on sale - In my third post I was referring to the airy blouse mentioned by jennifer. thanks.

  14. Anyone tried on the Campo De' Fiori ballerina dress or sweater dress? Are they true to size? Are they flattering considering the sweater dress, at least, is form fitting? I may be interested in one or both depending on how they fit.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  15. cloe26, in my humble opinion, the Campo Sweater Dress was a real dud for me. I loved the dress but when I receive it, and put it on, it made me look like Wilma on the Flintstones. It was definitely the print - which was the reason for my original purchase! My daughter said that I looked like a cartoon. Naturally, it went back. I think it would look good on really leggy willowy tall people. I'm 5'4 and wear a small. I think my stature just made it look cartoonish. Hope this helps.

  16. Thanks, Karen. That really helps and brings an interesting perspective. I am about your same height and was most concerned about it making me look "hippy" as opposed to hippie. :) Now i have to wonder if i would look like Betty Rubble, too. :) What of the colors? Bright yellow and orange? Mustard, burnt orange? and was it true to size?

    Thanks again!

  17. I have the Floral Ruffle Astrid Jacket in size 6, ripped the tags off (hey, what can I say? I was EXCITED). For sale if anyone would like it for $200, plus shipping. Must be ok with lack of tags!

Please post email!! (My spam filters suck. :( )

  18. Jennifer: I thought it fit me a little oddly too, but my issue came from the zipper more than anything else. Other than that, I really liked it!

    ReplyDelete
  19. hdayton: I was thinking of having mine tailored too, mostly to make it a bit shorter (it's long on me). How did you have yours tailored?

  20. Sorry this is a bit OT, but I have a question about order status. Next to the order #, it says "Released" but next to each individual item it still says "open"... is this normal or is it a bad sign?

    ReplyDelete
  21. math teacher - Hope you find the ruffle henly in dark fog/slate.

Jennifer - I didn't try on the airy knotted top. The cut looked really off. And there were a ton on the racks, so it's a sign of a bad fit.

katherind - My orders say OPEN and there is a UPS tracking number. I have never seen the released status on any of mine.

    ReplyDelete
  22. katherined: many of my orders have said "released." I called CS about it one time, and they said it means that the order has been "released" to the warehouse for fulfillment. Hope that helps!

  23. Anyone want a GAP 20% coupon?

I filled out one of the online surveys and won't be using the coupon. It is good for 20% off one regular price item and expires on 9/13. I will put it in the mail tomorrow to the first person who emails their address -- gigiofca@gmail

  24. The last of my J. Crew stash on eBay-- new, dark brown leather, size 8.5 extended calf boots, hits (at my 5'9") just below my knee-cap. I started at .99 and now it's at $51; ends Friday. My weird half-size feet growth + silliness at never wearing them = your gain.

    eBay seller: oddesttree

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. katherined: Open besides a tracking number means that you have not been charged yet. I found this out last week, I received the item 2 weeks ago, the status remained open, and I was charged last Friday.

OT Doesn't CS have the ability to check how much inventory is left in stock using another system? I called this morning and the CS told me this was not the case.

  26. jennifer- i loved the knotted airy top the first time i tried it on, so i bought it. but ever since then i've been avoiding it because it just hits too low and tight on the hip. it's going back, unfortunately.

    1) Khaki, size 12 (regular) belted & button-front Canteen shirt dress from last season I believe. I never wore this.

    2) Dark red halter embossed beach dress - size 12 (petite)- Bought at final sale online and didn't fit me.

Wondering where the black with white rose T-shirt that Natedec is selling on Ebay came from--past Spring?? I want one--but not for THAT price. I apologize if she is on this blog but those prices are crazy high--how does anything sell? Somebody must buy it though:) From: Sweetpea

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have the polka-dot rosette dress in mustard size 2 still with tags on it. I absolutely love love love this dress, but I'm a little too big in the thighs for a size 2. It's still available online for $110, but I'll part with mine for less. Email me at lboggess@gmail.com if you're interested.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sweetpea- That t-shirt is in some stores now, though I'm not sure if it is on the website yet. I think the retail price is $58.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Natedec also has this weird floral Astrid with no trim on the sleeves! I asked her about that and she said it was directly from JCrew and to contact them about why the trim isn't there.....yeah, right. I just wanted to mention it in case somebody wasn't that knowledge on the jackets style and didn't want them to get taken...

  49. Anon, for your question of whether I am legitimate or not, there was a J.crew conference call this morning and that was a picture of the finished product, however, the jackets that are made and sold in stores and online, they will not be made with the ruffle trim at the cuffs. It's good to know you did not call the store as I had recommended, rather come here to discredit my reputation. I hope that helps everyone else, and sorry if I have to reply in this manner, but like all of us, I always try to give the correct information. Thx

  52. natedac, how do you know so much about the insider view of jcrew and conference calls? just curious!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I called the Natick Collection (MA)store and asked about the jacket to see if the jacket I got from my store was different from their stores. No magic, I don't work there, I just took the time to call and ask.

    ReplyDelete
  54. natedac,
while you're crowing over how careful you are, why don't you tell us how you come to have so much stock of items so early? You had the floral rosette tank up before it was online - with a 50% markup, plus shipping fees that were double what others charge for such a lightweight item.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I guess if I told you everything I know, you'd be a competitor. Some things are best left unsaid- :) I'm here to explain a misstatement of someone's blog, not here for an inquisition. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yeah right. So long as you refuse to answer such a basic and obvious inquiry, you leave yourself open to questions surrounding how you come about your items. Since you clearly read this blog very often, you must know none of us are interested in being fleeced by you. Oh, and shall I add smiley faces, too :-)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Right now, I can buy the printed linen antonia dress in flame off j.crew's website for $49.99. Or I could decide to shell out $140 for it on ebay. Hmm, I wonder what I will do????

    ReplyDelete
  58. All I can say is that if you don't want to pay the price, then don't. While we may not agree with what others do, we need to remember to be courteous. I won't even pay full price, so I'm definitely not going to pay marked up prices. However, many people do, obviously. I always think about what my mom taught me as a child: if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.

No offense is meant, but let's keep this blog a pleasant place.

  59. Hi gals - I'm looking for a puffer vest in bright flame, size xs. I regret not picking one up last season and would be so happy if anyone has one they want to get rid of!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Expressing opposite sides of a stand isn't discourteous, it's open dialogue. I disagree with Natedac's practices, as do a great many people on this blog; I see no reason why that opinion shouldn't be expressed. In the interest of fair business practices, it's imperative it be pointed out when a seller is charging highly inflated prices.

    ReplyDelete
  61. anon looking for the puffer, are you near a factory store? Someone else mentioned they have puffer vests out now, in colors from last fall. Might be worth checking out, if possible.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Anon @ 9:20 -- yes, I'm near a factory store, but unfortunately they only have black, grape, hunter green, and white. *Sigh* However, if anyone is interested in those colors, I think they're on sale for about $40 right now.

    ReplyDelete
  63. sorry to hear that - sounds like they went with every color but the one you wanted :-(

I see this year's version comes in bright rhubarb, a color I'm not all that crazy about. Plus, I just looked at this year's version in the store the other day, and I questioned adding sherpa lining - I think if I wore it, I'd get overheated. I preferred last year's version, which was nylon.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Anon, you can disagree all you want, and that's cool- I'm not going anywhere and won't stop doing what I'm doing. My hobby is small and successful. But you seem to watch and discriminate every item I post, which is probably not mentally the healthiest for you, since you're obviously angered. I don't wish any ill will on you. Instead of being so passionate about hating me and my wonderful listings, try focusing on finding a really good deal on ebay (since you're on it anyway) and posting it for others to enjoy? :) I'm sure your hard work would pay off and people would feel they're getting a good bargain, less than retail. That would be my positive suggestion for the day!

In regards to pricing, oftentimes, when people come to me to alert me that something on jcrew is cheaper, I discourage them from buying if they can get it at a better price. You would be insane not to do so! But certainly, there is no need to get nasty and pick on me, as it just sours the mood on this blog.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I have that 2 puffer vests, navy and bright flame (red/orange????)- xs- I wore it several time. Finally, I have something someone wants. Please let me know as I was getting ready to get rid of them.

  66. I HAVE a ruffle trim ASTRID and it DOES come with the ruffle trim at the cuffs...just look at the picture online!

I hope everyone enjoys ebay but watch out for sample and second JCrew items.

There are several anonymous posters about this topic and I have only posted this info. First time for me:)

  68. I called Natick Collection this morning and they told me the jacket's cuffs do not come with ruffles. Does anyone know if the Natick store is a retail or outlet store? I forgot to ask.

    ReplyDelete
  69. as far as I know, the natick store is a retail store. This is sooooo weird. I really like the floral ruffle astrid, but now am scared to order it because I definitely want the ruffles on the sleeve!

    ReplyDelete
  70. Thanks Kater, then yes, the stores (at least Natick) seem to carry the one w/o the ruffles. Maybe anon got a sample coat? If so, good for her, we're all dying to get our hands on what's in the picture!!!!

  82. Hi! OMG, this blog site has become addictive--beats watching the reality shows on tv after the babes go to bed for the night. Does anyone have the Robinson grey/white stripe cardigan sweater jacket/coat from last year in large? Another item from last year I've been debating is the Lexington solid jacket preferably size 12 in citron (but I think a 14 would be ok). DH would probably complain he needs his sunglasses. Nonetheless, I'm drawn to it like a moth to a lightbulb. Thanks, much! Mom 2 dynamic duo toddler twins who desperately needs serenity by 7PM or at least a shot of the j crew aficionada blog! ;-).

  83. angelamaynes,

i am interested in your floral astrid in size 6. please email me at blonderascal at hotmail dot com!

  84. Julie, Hi! Don't know if it's the right dress, but call the Indianapolis store. I looked at the sale section and saw some jersey dresses with a bateau neckline (navy in large ? gobs of red-like color in various sizes). For anyone interested, there were 2 of the blue watercolor silk tanks with the rosettes (8 and either a 0 or 2) as well as loads of serengeti tanks and the metallic gray silk tanks. Let's see what else? Antonia linen dresses in the red/navy color combo as well as the sundress version of the same pattern. Silver tunic dress. Quite a few of the dream cardigans (in various colors) with the tie belt in the middle. Some jersey tanks. At least 10 gold link bracelets of various styles. Anyway, if I remember more, I'll post again.

  85. Why complain about a high price from natedac ? If you can get it cheaper somewhere else then just buy it somewhere else. Nobody has a guy to your head forcing you to buy for a price you cant afford.
