The Great (Weekly) Exchange

This post (of weekly posts) is for individual members who want to swap/sell/share among yourselves. This post is where you can mention your items and outside listing/ auction site (like eBay and eCrater & the corresponding user ID). Please note: this posting is not for resellers.

Individual members can also request in this post, items that they are looking for and interested in buying. :)

Please note that any transactions are independent of this blog. (Especially since you will be using an outside listing/ auction site like eBay or eCrater.) I have no dealings or interactions with any of the potential communication, listings, or transactions. :) Moreover, please limit comments about items to swap/sell/share to the "Great (Weekly) Exchange" posts. (Refer to "A Quick Note to J.Crew Aficionadas" post.)

Do you have any items you would like to swap/sell/share among yourselves through your outside listing/auction site? Is there an item (or items) that you are looking for and interested in purchasing?

  5. OT: There is a note on the women's accessories page online that says the vintage floral pins have already sold out! What? (Not that I was really going to buy a $100 flower pin...) Did anyone ever actually see this listed online! I check the site everyday and I never saw them! Can anyone help?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Anon 4:52am: Me too! I had been looking for pins, but neve seen them! Did anyone see those pins?

    ReplyDelete
  7. I never saw them for sale, either - but I think that because they weren't on the site people Googled Dulken & Derrick and went directly to their website instead (where most of the flowers are more reasonably priced than JC's rumored $85-$110). They even had a section named "J Crew Inspired", although I believe they changed the name on that to "Special Collection". HOWEVER - if you go to their site the message on the main page reads: "*********Due to relocation Orders will be processed slower than usual and many items listed are unfortunately sold out. Please be patient while we reconstruct the website, adding new flowers and categories."

Seriously, if you're looking for flower pins, I'd highly recommend etsy.com - there are some great (and reasonably priced!) pieces on there, you're supporting a small business, plus some etsy merchants will take requests/special orders.

  8. silver lining, thank for the info. will look into the place you recommended...I did find some nice flower pins at a local store this morning (here in the UK)...that were nice and cheap!

  9. No problem - I've been poking around there a lot lately and they've got really cute stuff! This necklace is cute:

  12. I'm pretty sure you can simply buy the flowers at Jo-Ann's and then hot glue the safety pins (also available there) onto the back...I'm going to try it this week and will report back. :)

  13. Btw...I was referring to the Flower Pins in my previous post. :)

    ReplyDelete
  14. FFM: I am doing the same thing with the pins :) I went to the store this weekend to get a glue gun and pin backings. I am still looking for some good enough flowers though.

  15. michelle: Great minds think alike, as the saying goes! Did you go to Jo-Ann Fabrics to find everything? I'm thinking that Silk Flowers might be best...what do you think?

  17. I have a citrus paisley blazer (item 93405) size 4 for sale, NWT, $53 + shipping.

(I ordered it final sale and J. Crew sent me the wrong one - I'm sure I can return it, but since it's sold out I thought I'd offer it up here.)

Also, I'm interested in the denim straight skirt (item 94850) in a 10 or 12...I was eying this until it sold out in most sizes without going on sale. Can anyone review this skirt? Anyone want to sell theirs?

    My email is beachbum08@rocketmail.com.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Beachnum - If J Crew sent you the wrong thing for Final Sale you can return it. Call CS, explain the situation. Ask to have notes added to your account. Then - you can either return it via post, or take it to your B&M and they will take it. They might not even bother calling CS if you explain it to them. However, having those notes is a good back-up plan.

  20. Anon@8:12 - I'm sure they will take it back - I just thought I'd see if anyone wants it first, since it's sold out. :)

Oh, on that note, does anyone want to sell this blazer in a 10? 10 is sold out, I guess that's why I ended up with a 4...and now 4 is sold out too.

    ReplyDelete
  21. By "this blazer," of course, I mean the citrus paisley blazer (item 93405).
And anon @ 8:12, thanks for the tip about calling first - good to know. I think that would have saved me some trouble once in the past when I showed up at the B&M and got a new employee who was sticking too closely to the "final sale" rule. :)

  22. FFM and Michelle: I made my own silk flower belts from this summer's catalog. I just couldn't justify paying $68 for something I could make for less than $5. I even made a few for my daughter and her friends. They looked exactly like the JC ones, and they loved them! Good luck. Try both JoAnn's and Michaels (or Hobby Lobby, if you have them).

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks Leslie! Have you tried making the pins yet? I'm going to visit Michael's tomorrow to see what I can find. :)

  31. Sorry to be a little off subject, but has anyone tried on the Italian deco tank yet? Lately, I'm just mad about saffron...

If so, how does it fit?

Speaking of yellow - FFM, good call on the rhubarb/gold color combo. I just bought the cashmere short sleeved tee in light citron and it looks very sharp under the rhubarb Andrea, especially with dark trouser jeans.

  40. FFM, Leslie, Lindsay: I went to Michael's because it's close by, and I didn't like the flower selection there. I did pick up one flower that I thought was pretty, but overall I was looking for something a little higher quality. I think silk or organza would work nicely. I started looking into millinery flowers, but it seems like the only places to find them in any large quantity is online. I wonder if there are any JoAnn's in my area ...

Both are unworn - new without tags. I am negotiable on price, or swap for another J. Crew item

I'm a size 12 blazer, xl in sweaters and a large or xl in most tops.

  42. Does anyone know if any of the B&M's are still having a secret sale on cashmere?

    ReplyDelete
  43. FFM: I haven't tried making the flower pins yet, but I probably will. I picked up a really cute purple chiffon one for $3 at H&M this summer. It will look adorable on jackets/coats or even some sweaters. I just have to be careful about the sweater aspect, since it may leave pin holes that are noticeable. JoAnn's is a great source for the materials. Have fun and let me know how they turn out!

  48. Anonymous @ 11:09a - I saw signs on the cashmere over the weekend. $99 on crewneck and v-neck. Not sure if the cardigan was on special. You might want to just call a store and ask what they've got going as of today.

Nothing to sell, but wanted to give a public thanks to Cheri. We did a very quick negotiation that led to a successful transaction through PayPal. I just paid her on Sat and recvd my item this morning(Mon)! Also thanks to FFM. Thanks for mentioning your sizing in the Bella. I also needed a 6 and not a 4. I got the green leaf color.

  58. leslie: I have seen pins that are magnets - I wonder if that type of backing can be bought in retail? Then, one doesn't have to worry about pin holes - they occur in all types of fabrics and always annoy me. If they can't be bought retail, I know QVC sells the magnet converters (haven't tried, so can't say how they are or if they work).

  67. I just wanted to leave a note to say that I am (in the process) of receiveing a highly coveted (for me) Size 12 Welsh Purple Velvet bella from beachbum...currently with UPS...she was so helpful and prompt in her communication, and shipping, it truly was a smooth transaction.

I'm also getting a T14 Heather Nut bella from Audrey this week, who was gracious enough to offer it on the Aficionada site after she purchased several bellas (I'm assuming in the hopes that at least one would come although it seems - lucky duck! - all of hers did come)

So thank you ladies! I had been on a massive bella hunt all season and was so disappointed to keep missing out on the bellas online. You ladies truly made my day! :-)

Vivian - not sure if you are checking this thread but I saw a msg you left me on the other thread, I do have some of Jcrews other double strand necklaces (shell, seahorse and I *had* the jewelled starbust necklace iwth the yellow beads as well but ultimately ended up returning it to Jcrew)...I found none of those really worked with my wardrobe. I wear a lot of darker tones, and jewel tones, and I wanted something work appropriate (and I work in a conservative accounting firm) - this is why I fell in love with the jewelled flower double strand necklace :)

  73. weab & jcrewjunkie: I can't wait to go flower and pin shopping and try to put something together!! I have a sick baby right now (nothing serious!) so I will probably not make it out until Wednesday!

To preface this weekend's shopping, on the last JC CC bill I had a Tulip Coat, Felicia Coat, and several skirts, cords, etc... stocking up for fall... NOT GOOD!
With a still smokin' CC, I made 3 separate orders from the sale section (all of which have already arrived or I have a tracking number - yea!) I'm getting 2 cashmere cable sweaters (snow and navy), the gold whisper lame tank, serengeti tank, amelia tank (pale almond), a couple cardigans, 2 cotton linen sweaters (pink and green), and a joelle blouse (burnished moss). So, needless to say, this mixed with occasional purchases at my b&m have deemed my BANNED for additional J. Crew shopping for at least a couple of weeks!

  81. As a fellow J. Crew fan, I fell in love with the vintage flower pins that J. Crew had styled onto many of the outfits in the October 2008 catalog. In fact, I kept this particular catalog and still admire the pictures. I, like many other fans, tried to purchase these flowers but never saw them available online. Well, I just wanted you all to know that I am now proudly selling Dulkin and Derrick Vintage Flower Pins on my Blue Onion Marketplace website. D & D agreed to sell me designs that are exclusive to my on-line store. My heart skipped a beat when I took a look at the spring samples in the box D&D sent me. I am truly in love with them!!!! You can pin them to your favorite J. Crew coat, sweater, belt, hat, cute little top or even a wedding dress. They will even dress up a t-shirt enough to sneak wearing it to the office. I would be honored if you could took a look.

You will probably notice that the pictures of the flower pins are taken pinned to some of my own favorite J. Crew clothing especially my favorite J. Crew Felicia Coat in sea salt!
