J.Crew Gives Cardholders Early Access :)

A big "thanks!" to Blumre who shared with us this email from J.Crew letting card members know about the New Arrivals at JCrew.com. I have to say, I am really impressed by how many emails card holders have been receiving as of lately... way to go J.Crew! :)

If you are a card member, have you been receiving a lot of J.Crew emails? :) What are your thoughts on this image (do you "love" or do you "really love" how great they all look)? ;)

  1. I feel like I get a lot of emails from j crew....which I sincerely appreciate.
Other than the fact that this board posted the new catalog before I received it...and I still haven't received it in the mail, only by visiting the store, I usually feel ahead of the game by getting the emails. How much of an early access is in question, but I still love the early emails from jc!

  2. I have been getting a lot of emails, but I never received this one and I'm a card holder. That being said, I've never received this "benefit" of early access. I only get early access because I stalk the website so much! LOL!! I also haven't received the new catalog, so I haven't seen it in person either. Oh well!!!

  3. I got this after the website got changed. What exactly do they mean by "early access"???

  4. I have been getting more emails than usual, and I am not a cardholder. I have noticed though that where before I would get J.Crew emails at different times of the day on different email accounts, I am now getting them at virtually the same time. Yay J.Crew!

I just wanted to note that at the willow grove, pa store they had honey glaze jackie cardis for $49.99 plus 25% off. They are still full price online, so I thought I would mention it.

  5. The only email I received is the one about Crewcuts New Arrivals, but then I am not a cardholder. Unfortunately I do not plan to become one anytime in the near future since there are apparently no real benefits to having one. ;) No *early access* emails for me, I guess.

  6. The said new arrivals were actually updated like 2 days earlier. I don't think this is an actual benefit to cardholders. Maybe you could consider it as an "advisory" though. Just in case you don't check the site often.

  7. I agree with Jeff on this one - I don't see this as a "benefit" in any sense of the word. I'd already visited the website multiple times before getting the email "alerting" me to the new items. By the time I got the email it was already old news! A "real" benefit would be if they provided us a special URL or code to be able to purchase items that weren't onsale to the general public or non-card holders. Otherwise I just see this as more spam.

  8. I get more emails too. Before summer it's more like once every other week. Now it seems twice a week.

BTW, the bella jackets at the outlet is now 30% off, and they have the heather nut, black, grey herringbone and orange wools (very limited)

  9. ratsonparade: If they had those kind of perks, I would seriously consider getting a J.Crew card. As it is, I don't think the incentives put it much above a normal credit card.

  10. Anonymous @ 11:21 PM - I never saw the Bella in person, so I may drive up to a FS this week to check it out!

My early access begins here, IMO!

  11. I maybe get 2 emails every 6 months. I am not a cardholder though. Actually I can't remember the last time I got an email!

  12. I am a cardholder and I have been getting more emails lately - but I did not yet receive this one! And, I agree with ratsonparade - getting to "see" the new arrivals first means and does nothing for me. It really is just additional marketing, and the only one who benefits there is J.Crew, not the cardholder. Giving me early access or the ability to pre-order, or an early-order discount - now those would be real benefits! :-)

  13. I would have to agree with Melanie. There are not too many benefits to being a cardholder (other than the $25 or $50 rewards card per season). Compared to the free shipping offers or gift cards on your b-day from other stores the JC card is kind of lacking.

  14. ITA with everyone else, give me some perk that MAKES ME FEEL SPECIAL. Informational emails are great, but to really make them worth opening there should be some sort of reward for those who have a card OR to entice those who don't.

  15. FFM: Don't you have the Suzannah cami? How does the sizing run? THANKS!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Everyone else can view the new items at the same time so why is this anything special...yeah we got an email and non-cardholders did not but so what?

  17. Sorry to burst your bubble but I received this email and I'm NOT a card member

  18. I haven't gotten this e-mail yet. However, very recently, I began receiving more emails. It's funny because the "free shipping" emails with a higher minimum come to me (I have the jc card). But my husband who NEVER shops there and is not a jc cardholder, gets the ones with lower mins.

  19. jcrewjunkie: I wear a 2 in the Suzannah with my *bra of endowment*, but could wear a 0 if I chose not to wear a bra (which I would never do...I always wear one). ;) HTH! :) The camis are so beautiful and flattering...I wear them ALL the time, and have it in every color, too.

  20. FFM,

Is the ivory Suzannah cami see-through at all?

    Thanks!

  21. I'm a card member and I haven't gotten this email.

  22. Has anyone bought or tried on the Kelsey tank dress? What were/are your thoughts on it?

    ReplyDelete
  23. argyle: the Ivory Suzannah Cami isn't sheer at the bust, but IS slightly sheer from the waist down...I usually wear it under a cardigan. It has a little bit of volume or *flair* from the empire waist down, so it's not like it is *clingy tight* and REALLY showing everything...if that makes sense. Let me know if you need further info or clarification.:)

  24. argyle: The bust portion of the cami is lined, but it is unlined from the waist down. :)

  25. I did receive this e-mail. Also, J.Crew has suddenly "discovered" an e-mail address I gave them years ago but at which I'd never received bulk e-mails.

OT: Anyone have the Claire ankle pant? Any comments on fit/quality?

    ReplyDelete
  26. OT-
Anyone have the Hayden Cardigan shown on final sale--I ordered but SO hopeful about fit and styling!! It looks DARLING but crossing my fingers runs the same as other items. I think it must be last year. It is charcoal heather in color. ANyone??

Also--anyone ever SEE the PLUM color Berry Astrid Jacket at their store?? I am dying to know what this looks like in person! The grey color is kinda dull and conservative--can tend to look more dowdy (albeit I love it at the same time--maybe more conservative/mature is the word that comes to mind). I am thinking how great it would be in a fabulous color. The blue that you see in magazines, online that has been highly marketed is a pretty color blue FOR SURE--it's just that I am a sucker for the shades of purple/plum. Kinda funny but I feel like people on here are probably already OVER this jacket and yet prob haven't had the weather to wear it! I also wonder if it will even make it to Final Sale or a on sale pricing. ANyone have the PLUM?? Thanks!

  27. I just received this e-mail. Exclusive to cardholders it is not.

  28. I got this email too, even though I'm not a card member. It seems sort of random who they send their emails too! I must say I enjoy getting them though :)

  29. covert5, I should be getting my plum astrid either on Tuesday or Wed. Will let you know what I think....

  30. Jcrewjunkie, I have the Suzannah cami too in purple...I wear all my camis without a bra...I find it true to size for me...I am a 36A:)

  31. Alert the media!!! I just got this email this afternoon. Glad to see they are behind the eight ball. I've been a card holder for about 4 years....you think they would figure this stuff out. Crazy!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Haha, I JUST got this email, too.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Come to think of it, all you're getting on the J.Crew credit card is a high APR. haha.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Does anyone know if there is a difference in quality between the bella jacket in the outlet and in the regular store? What is the current price at the outlet store?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I have the purple astrid- love it! It is a great fall purple, perfect for weather in the 60's. The color on the web makes it look slightly darker than it actually is.

    ReplyDelete
  36. THANK YOU JULIE CANNOT WAIT TO HEAR ABOUT IT also ANON FOR THE COLOR and LOVE FACTOR:)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Sooner, I replied to your post on the other thread, but just in case- I have the Kelsey tank dress and LOVE it! I usually wear a 6 and I got a medium, and I think it fits well. Hope that helps!

  38. Covert5, Mine just came Yeah! Yes, the other person on this thread is right. The color of purple is a little lighter/brighter than on the website but I LOVE IT! OH MY! IT IS JUST WONDERFUL! My first thought, when I saw this is online for the first time, was that there MIGHT be too much trim going on but I really like it on...the purple is fabulous. (The gray is classic but I prefer color--most of the time.) What a fun jacket! If it wasn't raining today and/or if the sun comes out I am going to wear it! I am glad I got my size in plum (as it is tech. called) b/c it is now backordered until end of November! I will get 3 months wear out of it by then:) Hope your size is available for immediate shipment....Let me know what you decide and/or what you think when you get it. I love to compare notes:)

  39. I bought the gray astrid at my local b&m about a month or so ago. I know, I know....gray is so safe, but I wanted to make sure that I could wear it with many things. I love the blue and the purple, but I'm 40 years young and felt that gray would be better. Also, they didn't have the colors at the store, so there you go!!! The jacket is gorgeous, though and it's proabably worth putting yourself on the backorder list if you are interested.

  40. lesli, of course get the color you are most comfortable wearing....I am 39 and loving the purple but that is my fav. color:)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have been getting a lot of their emails at both of the email accounts I gave to Jcrew. It's nice to know I'm in the loop! I didn't check the early access though...I've been too busy...Did I miss anything? Just wondering.

  42. Hi Julie-
I ordered mine from the store on Sat and have recv'd confirm email but not shipping one yet. It was in stock in my size so it should leave soon--I am SO excited!

I have the grey but I think it may need to be sold (sz 4 grey if anyone is interested--may be selling:) once I see the plum! The grey works with all the color I have in my closet underneath but I can't bring myself to wear it without seeing the purple IRL! I have that glimmer of doubt--and as Oprah says, "doubt means don't" so I finally had to order the plum.

Plum doesn't appear to be in stores. I am SO curious--has anyone seen this in their store--even big city stores?? I have only heard grey is in stores and I have to wonder if this will even make it to SALE in either the plum or the blue?? Sure seems DOUBTFUL!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Covert5, that is good you are going to try the purple! I don't think the Astrid is going to make it to the sales or if it does it will be in very limited sizes and colors:)

    ReplyDelete
  44. One of my biggest questions..going back and looking at the color online is whether the ruffles/berries really look that florescent IRL (for lack of better word:) ???

    ReplyDelete
  45. Not to me they don't.....I love the purple color and the berries are just a shade lighter to accent.

  46. When I pulled mine out of the box I just loved the whole jacket right away...I didn't have any second thoughts...I just put it on and wore it today:) Everyone has their own personal preference:)

  47. This is the one area where J.Crew fails me. So many others get emails, but I never do unless it's to tell me an item has shipped, etc.

Guess I need to follow up on this with my PS.

  48. efikmovy - in previous comments I believe most said that the wool version (lined) at the outlet is the same in quality as last year's retail. The cord and velvet are unlined and therefore not the same.

The wool is now $124. I got one as I can't get the original version anymore even on ebay, and I don't see any quality deficiencies. There's even a heather nut color, which I believe was one of the original colors (not sure if it's the same exact fabric though).

  49. Thank you! I managed to get a size 4 grey wool Bella on Ebay. The seller disclosed that it was from an outlet so I was a little hesitant, but I really wanted the jacket (I've been kicking myself for not buying it last year).
