J.Crew Wedding & Parties Gets Updated!

As Heather pointed out (in the post "J.Crew Website Updated {yey!}"), J.Crew updated their "Wedding & Parties" page (click here). They included photos of real customers' weddings utilizing the wedding clothes that J.Crew offers. Also, SlightlyOlderSally let us know that there is a great video link on the bottom of "The J.Crew Wedding Album" that reads "watch our favorite first dance video... ever" that is totally worth checking out. (In case you can't see the video through J.Crew, click here.)

I have to say that I really love this idea of showing real brides and grooms on their wedding day!!! :) It is great to see how beautiful real couples (and their family & friends) look in J.Crew clothes.

What are your thoughts on J.Crew's updated Weddings & Parties site? Do you like the Wedding Album concept? Are there any new Weddings & Parties arrivals that you love or loathe?

  1. That video made me snort coffee out my nose with laughter at the same time I was weeping. I can't remember the last time that happened! What a great couple. I wish them all the best (and they looked great!)

If I were to have a wedding at this late date, that would be how I would want us to look: elegant, relaxed, and happy. Those clothes look great in any setting, as the photos showed.

Thanks for the post, Alexis. Hope your move is going well.

  2. These kinds of videos have been circulating the internet for years now. Just look on YouTube. This one was picked up by J.Crew because the bride is wearing a J.Crew wedding dress. I think.

  3. does anyone know what time the sale section is updated?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Wow, my comment made into a post, thanks! I guess the addition of the real wedding photos is a new update, afterall.

I really like the jeweled cady gown, but I wish it came in white in the shorter version of the dress! I'm not even engaged, but I already know I want a knee length dress. :)

--heather, but not the one who posted above at 7:08am :) (maybe I should post as my other, more unique blogger identity?)

  5. haha sale section is updated every morning anywhere from 8-10am EST. sad that i know this, even sadder that i wake up on weekends just to sit on the computer and hit refresh until the inventory numbers have risen! good luck!

  6. I think the wedding photos are really beautiful...it's nice to see the clothing on actual customers for a change. :)

  7. OT: I remember someone (more than one person, maybe) saying how they wished hip-slung jeans were still available...I saw some on final sale this morning for $59.99. Just wanted to share in case someone wanted to stock up :)

  8. I do love that J.Crew's added that feature (real people wearing their pieces) to their weddings section! It's great because putting that video up shows that J.Crew has a sense of humor and isn't all about pomp and circumstance. ;)

  9. And oh my gosh--I watched that first dance video last night and laughed out loud so loud my husband thought I was insane! What a fun couple :)

  10. Ahhh I've seen that video on youtube before! And I screamed at my friends when we were looking at it that it was a jcrew dress. They all told me a I was obsessed and it was time for an intervention.

In looking at the pictures though I was a little bummed that all the weddings were so casual. I want my wedding to be black tie and I keep thinking which J. Crew dresses would work for that. But all the pictures were very pretty.

  11. WHOA the sale section is WAY updated: Note there are 108 accessories online!

    ReplyDelete
  12. blumre: I wonder if everything is actually REALLY in stock?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Haha: Yeah, FFM, I didn't say I was actually ordering anything. Nor do I actually need most of that stuff... Plus I am going suit shopping today, remember ;) But I'll let you know if I see anything good in stores!

But last October and right before the spring/summer roll out the brought out the previous year's stuff. i would bet that some of it is available in small quantities!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Grr, I went to check out the new items in the Final Sale and all the things I wanted were not available! J Crew, I promise I want to buy something from you, but make sure if list something as "on sale" that it's actually there first.

(I know, I know, I'm preaching to the choir here.)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Eddie and Stretch's Momma:
What about the Fontaine gown or the Lucinda gown? I think those dresses could work for a black tie event pretty well. The babette french tulle gown is also gorgeous, but I'm not sure how one would dress it up to make it black tie.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Actually--there are a ton of bargains in the accessories section! Grab some great looking gloves ladies:)
Make sure to call in your order and ask about quantity--but if there is only 1 or 2 sometimes the CSR's are discouraging--others encourage.
I say go ahead and order as I think I am getting a couple of those very items that were down to a QTY of 1 (items that I have tried 2-3 times before to get)I am actually getting now! I think someone else already mentioned but maybe "third or fourth times the charm"!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yeah, a lot of similar wedding videos has been circulating the web for years now. I didn't particularly find this one funny sadly, but I like the idea.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Has anyone tried on the kaylie dress? Is it true to size? Actually, considering I just realized this is a Fall 2007 dress, I don't even know what "true to size" is anymore, since they recently changed their sizing, it seems. But any information would be greatly appreciated!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hi everyone, can you tell me, I thought I read here, do I need to size up for the Bella jacket? I'm a 6 so I should buy an 8? tia

    ReplyDelete
  20. typo in blog title. it's "gets", not "get's"

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yes, how do the Bellas run? Sometimes I wear a Tall and sometimes I wear a Regular - any experience with choosing between the two? Also, do you wear the collar flipped up or down?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I like the picture that shows the wedding party walking down a cobblestone street. All of the women are obviously having a difficult time of it in heels, which is much more realistic than JCrew's many catalog photos of people hanging out on cobblestone streets looking cool...

    ReplyDelete
  23. I liked the picture of the couple on the bike, mainly because she doesn't seem to fit the image of the typical J.Crew bride. I think it's cool they included it!

    ReplyDelete
  24. argyle:

the bella runs either true to size, or even slightly small. The collar is worn up...it's hard to really flip it down.

Alexis: You might want to look into this Lucido coat as a "questionable item."

To me, it looks like a shinny, too-big raincoat.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The Lucido coat is horrible, can't imagine wearing that let alone spending $1800.00 for it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. OT - what color is sea salt? Is it a tannish off-white? Or does it lean more towards pink-white? Looking at the linen Logan pants.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I had a similar question about Bella sizing. Is there much difference between 2 and P2? I ordered one of each (both in velvet) since the other color I wanted didn't come in 2, and am really hoping the P2 won't be too small...I'm pretty flat chested and take a size 2/xs in all jcrew clothes, but I've never bought any of their coats or blazers, (only the metalic mosaic jacket in 2) any feedback would be great, thanks!

  29. Had to repost my comment.

Here is an update regarding the warehouse hand-count and the website.

I called to place an order. Apparently some items that are showing online -- I.e. Logan Favorite Fit linen pants (93704), Cynthia dress (93880), turtleneck tissue tee (86408) -- are bogus. The website does *not* currently reflect accurate warehouse information according to the lovely CS that I spoke with just now. She said *her* system has the most accurate information and apparently it ties into the warehouse system. It shows the number of items in stock, etc...

What *we* are seeing online is not accurate. I asked if they have been given an ETA for the end of the website issues and she said no. Not at all. So as someone said in another thread, order at your own risk and be ok with not receiving an item.

The neverending website fiasco really sucks and that's why I phone in orders instead of placing them online. Apparently the website will accept your order, but when it gets to the warehouse, unavailable stock (read: non-existent) items will get canceled.

One last boo -- a charge is finally coming through for an order I placed on 8/15. Trying to keep up with what has cleared through my bank and what I have recvd has been a little annoying. I was under the impression that there is light at the end of the tunnel, but I'm not sure that's the case. A hand count is nice, but as we agreed last weekend, it won't matter if they can't get the website to accurately reflect what is in the warehouse -- esp for those that can't get to a b&m.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I wish they had tea length or knee length bridal gowns.

    ReplyDelete
  31. gigiofca: Thanks for the information. When I spoke to a CS yesterday, she told me they use the same systems as we see on-line, and they cannot accurately inform us of the inventory level, so who are you going to believe?

Also I saw somewhere that Mickey said the website issues will last until the end of the year! It is going to be one wild holiday season if this is the case.

I had a charge show up on my cc 4 weeks after the fact.

After I receive this order I am going to take a little J Crew break, I have said it before, but I hate chasing after orders, maybe this time it will happen.

    ReplyDelete
  32. OT - if anyone has ordered one of the following, could you please email me at karenrob08@yahoo.com? I would love to ask you something but don't want to spam the blog. Thanks!! :)

    1. Piqué Andrea jacket in bright rhubarb
    2. Jacinda jacket in honey glaze
    3. Cashmere Butterfield jacket in heather silver

    ReplyDelete
  33. Am loving the keepsake cashmere cardi. I like the rhubarb, royal violet and heather silver. Any thoughts? Has anyone seen these colors? I'm a little concerned the silver is too pale to work well with color. I also wonder if it's so pale it will get dirty just looking at it. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  34. casual-crew - I was also told in the past that the CS reps use the same system that we see on-line. That was a couple months ago, so who knows if something changed since. This rep insisted that she is tied into the warehouse inventory and can see what they have. *shrugs*

Website issues till year end? Absurd.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I am so glad I haven't ordered but two items in the past two months...they were both new items and I ordered them seperately....figuring how can they screw up one item...I just got fed up trying to see what charges from JCrew were correct and how long it took for some to show was so confusing. (I never did get any special gift cards either...bummer:( Anyway, knowing the problems will continue to exist has made me happy there is not much out there...if anything...I feel I HAVE to HAVE. I don't have a store nearby so I won't be ordering as it nears Christmas if the problems still exist. I have better things to do this holiday season than be on the phone with JCrew straightening out my orders and/or seeing if my gifts (for myself:) or others may or may not come...

My experience lately as in (everyday practically this week) has FINALLY been different and I order enough to see the change happening. I DO NOT EVER use the website as it DEFINITELY is not tied to warehouse still BUT I do call in and ask about each item of interest. I found some items today from sale that weren't in existence even though they show on the site. If you want something and you really wanna know if they have (read you really desire it)then you have to call to ask about it or you may be saddened with cancelation email. I think one thing you meant to say is that internet is not being updated/tied to warehouse BUT the CSR on the phone ARE tied directly so they DO know if the item is in stock. These days I have been ordering even if there is only QTY 1 as these items are shipping! So I think ordering via phone is finally pulling things out of inventory-YES!! Also-I am finally getting immediate confirm emails on my orders and then shipping emails very soon after (and a few cancels to on occasion) but things are MUCH better!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I just ordered by phone two weeks ago today. I did not receive a shipping confirmation at all and by the time I was able to finally track it myself with UPS it was the same day it was to be delivered! I don't live in the US right now and the cost of phoning in orders is ridiculus so I have only ordered three things in the past 2 months--one item each order. I used to order 3-5 times a week...sometimes everyday but no longer. Also, you run the risk of gettting your credit card "messed up" still. Not worth the hassle.

  39. My last order was on-line (Friday) because I wanted to use the fs code, it took 24 hrs to receive the order confirmation, and I have since found out the inventory is low on the boot cut cords. CS told me I may not get it, since yjr won't get around to filling my order until Tuesday or Wed. and I have to call to get placed on the waitlist, if the item gets cancelled. I thought that was done automatically for you.

There is a way you can find out what the inventory is on-line, type in a high quanity of items and the the correct number that they have in stock shows up in your shopping cart. I did this for my cords, found out the inventory were low, I called CS about getting my name on the waitlist, and the inventory amounts matched.

    ReplyDelete
  40. casual-crew: I do that with the inventory counts online a lot, and I find that it is pretty right on. It also influences as to whether or not I need to order that item QUICKLY or if I can afford to wait it out. Great strategy :)

  41. Well, I managed to get through to customer service and they were really nice. One emailed back and said I could return one of the Bellas if I found it too small. I only placed the order yesterday and she said it is ready to ship (!) so they're not able to cancel anything. I also spoke with another rep to ask about measurements, in case anyone is wondering:
Bella size P2 bust 33", waist 28", shoulder-shoulder 13.5". The size 2, bust 35.25, waist 31, shoulder-shoulder 15. She was very nice too and said she would also make a note saying I could return the one I found too small :)

  42. I just noticed something on the website ... www.yawah.com is written across the image of the eclipse halter tank swimsuit on the size 4 sale page... does that mean they are working on the site for J Crew?

  43. I guess jcrew website has been hacked by angry customers ...

  44. What do you guys think of the Cashmere Lofty Shawl Collar sweater? Which color do you like more, heather silver or heather wheat?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anony@11:29 I think both are very nice colors but I like the heather wheat better:)

    ReplyDelete
  46. covert5 - Yes, I was attempting to expresss that internet does not seem to be updated/tied to warehouse...in spite of the physical count, etc... and yes, the CSR on the phone are tied directly so the info they have is probably accurate.

casual-crew - Excellent tip on finding out inventory counts. Very cool.

Anonymous@10:32a/shoppinginseattle - Others have also noticed yawah on images on the website. I can't recall if anyone figured out what's going on with that. Looks like it's the photo hosting and/or resizing program from Adobe.

  47. Does anyone have the sparkle argyle cardi that is in final sale? Is it really as cropped as it looks on the model? Also does it run tts? Thanks in advance for your help.

    ReplyDelete
  48. lovesargyle: I have that cardigan and it is very shrunken looking, just as it is pictured. I love it though, and I think you should get it for that price (and ask for the additional 25% off that is offered in-store). I generally wear an XS in most J. Crew cardigans (except for Jackie, and other jackie-like styles), and I took this one in an XS.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Lauren,

ME TOO! I guess they realize (so far) they can't charge $2000 for a knee length white dress (or even $100 more for the same dress but in white), so they just don't make them. :(

    ReplyDelete
  50. casual_crew: you are amazing! thanks for the tip on how to figure out how many items are left online .... this will be so helpful in deciding when to order something I just HAVE to have and stop waiting for it to go on sale! cool!

    ReplyDelete
  51. hannah,

Was that the bella in velvet, or in wool? If it's the wool version, depending on the color, I'd be willing to buy whatever size doesn't fit (rather than have you ship it back). Both sizes fit me reasonably well. Lucky-you! *grins* I couldn't get the internet to load in time to put in my order

    auryane@gmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  52. Has anyone bought or tried on the Kelsey tank dress? What are your thoughts on it? How did it fit? Do you need to put a belt on with it to help with the look? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Lovesargyle,

I picked up the sparkle argyle cardigan from the sale section at my b&m yesterday. It is shrunken how it looks, and does fit tts. I wear a Medium in all sweaters and got a Medium in this. It doesn't fit tight like Jackies. I love the extra sparkle.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hannah-
Let me know about the Bella size 2 (not petite) if it doesn't work out for you--I might be interested in either velvet or wool depending on color.
    Email me at: sweetpeaemb@sbcglobal.net

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  55. auryane, unfortunately they are both velvet. I know, the wool one is beautiful, I would've loved to get one myself.

If it makes you feel any better, I don't remember seeing any small sized wool ones that morning. I think I got on in the first few minutes they updated the site and I distinctly remember that there was only a size 6 and a few Tall XL sizes for the wool Bellas. (But I could be wrong).

PS the reps emailed me the measurements and they were a bit different from what the phone rep told me, so best to ignore what I wrote! Apologies!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Sorry for this off topic, but what is the logo appears J.Crew online? "YAWAM.com"??? It is very annoying. If J.crew employees read this blog, please remove this strange logos on products...

    ReplyDelete
  57. totally OT - but I saw the Tuesday in person today.....wow,,,,it's beautiful in person...so nicely made....it wasn't on my radar screen ....now I'm stalking it!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. lovesargyle: I also got the sparkle argyle cardi, and I really like it. The price in the sale section at the b&m is good, and it fits tts imo. I take a small in j.crew cardis, and I was a small in this one too. It's cute and has just enough sparkle that it's unique, but you can still wear it to work. It's a really cute sweater :)

  59. i wish they had at least one "real wedding" picture that was a gay or lesbian couple. my sweetie and i and our 4yearold daughter are all wearing jcrew gowns to our california (it's legal now!) wedding in a couple weeks.

  60. I was one of the people who ordered a wool Bella when they came up as available... I called CS to confirm, who said that their info showed that there were no sizes and no colors available for my order, so most likely, my T10 navy and T12 gray would be cancelled when they went to the warehouse to fill it. Just to clarify, the only sizes and colors that she told me WERE available in the wool Bella were: a T12 in the heather nut (for which I placed an order); and 3 T14 in the heather nut. This was yesterday.

I asked about the velvet Bella; there were apparently some still available and people have been ordering them. I already have some velvet blazers so I wasn't really interested in them, but I suggest calling and asking them if you want to order.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Whoa, size 12 in the bella? Thats pretty big lol

    ReplyDelete

  66. People are really getting rude....I wear a size 10 in a Bella. I am 5'10" inches tall, I weigh 130 lbs. and I am small boned with my ring size of 4!

    12 is a normal/average size...THAT IS NOT FAT.

How childish some people can be!
