Love It Or Leave It: Babette Jeweled Feather Flats

Babette Jeweled Feather Peep Toe Flats

Item 10825
Regular: $315.00

When I first saw these flats in the catalog, I just thought "pass". I thought they were "over the top" and just not for me. (And of course, the price tag scares my wallet.)

Initial thoughts: (1) The deep yellow is too loud. (2) The feathers are too showy. (3) Peep toes for Fall? (For this point, I guess it depends on which part of the country you live- because in Connecticut, it is cold already! ;) Yet, places like Florida, the weather is still nice enough to not need a jacket and to wear these flats comfortably.)

However, the more I look at these flats, the more I like them! After some time I thought: (1) With a pair of dark jean trousers and a white tee, the flats are a great source of color. (2) On close up, the feathers are quite beautiful and I love the jewel detail. :) (Although I am not sure how fragile those feathers are in person.)

A bit off topic... but J.Crew really likes their bright colors! Is it just me, or has there been a lot of bright yellows, oranges, orange-reds, fushias, and the like lately? ;)

What are your thoughts on the Babette jeweled feather peep toe flats? Do you love them or would you leave them? Have you tried these flats on (or seen them at the Collection store)? If so, what are your first hand impressions?

  1. Yeah, I have seen a TON of yellow in their stores lately. I went in last week and one of the mannequins in front was wearing a red sweater with hot pink cords!

    ReplyDelete
  2. I think that these. I don't know about an open toe in the winter, however.

    ReplyDelete
  3. OK, still early...it should read "I think that these look fun."

    ReplyDelete
  4. they are definately a leave it for me! I would like the feather detail is the shoe was a different color.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I say stick with your original thoughts on these, Alexis....first impressions are usually right:) he he:)

These are a leave it for me....Just brings back memories of my father and brother feasant hunting and the feathers my brother put in hats! :) (wink)

  6. I think they are cute and I live in Florida, so I could wear them right now. However, I know the feathers would be fragile and would break quickly, so I would not even consider them.

  7. Spelling error alert:

    Pheasant!

    ReplyDelete
  8. They are a nice idea but I don't think they look like they are worth that price. If these make it to sale for less than $150 I'd re-consider them. I have a few pairs of their satin shoes and the satin does not wear that well. Plus, I kind of want the feathers to be OTT, like the CL feathered anemones. I kind of want to add MORE feathers to them!

I love the bright colors they have been using since about 2004/2005. I don't think I am going to wear say, the magenta cords, a red sweater and the feathered yellow peeps together but say wearing camel wide leg trousers, the feathered yellow peeps and a peacock blue/green cami would work.

  9. OT: Is there anyone who purchased bug pins? Please send us your review! J.Crew models wear bugs on cardigans, put them on clutch bags...

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think from reviews of most J.Crew shoes from Aficionadas on the blog, the consensus is they are NOT comfortable, for the most part. So I'm just not sure why someone would pay over $300 for an uncomfortable shoe...I completely understand enduring pain in the name of fashion and style, but I just don't feel this pair is cute enough to warrant the price tag or any amount of discomfort.

As for the bright colors...I really wish we could see something else for Fall/Winter...my closet is full of bright colored pieces and I am looking for jewel tones, muted colors, and neutrals...BRING ON MORE CAMEL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. $315? Seriously. Are the soles red? Is there a Louboutin scroll on the inside? J Crew is pretty full of themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  12. FFM: I do agree with you! After a couple of seasons of bright colors, I am little bit tired of laud colors...I miss more suttle colors such as beige, camel, taupe etc. I think those colors are more chic.

    ReplyDelete
  13. sorry, I mean *subtle* colors...

    ReplyDelete
  14. I actually visited the collection store in NYC this past weekend, and saw these flats. They were exquisite and beautiful! But, totally impractical for the cold weather. They would definitely liven up any neutral outfit. The heeled version were really pretty too!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I can't wear any shade of beige. It just washes me out......However, I would love to see some jewel tones...enough of the bright already. I do like orange but I have seen enough oranges and yellows, JCrew to last me the rest of my life!

    Jewel tones PLEASE!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I actually think the heel version of this shoe is really quite pretty, and comes in 2 other colors besides yellow, as well: Click Here ...it seems as if some of the designs in the heels just don't translate that well into a flat...just like the Lollipop shoes, remember?

    ReplyDelete
  17. i don't know how i feel about the feathers this season. they seem way too ridiculous. it's like everyone is trying to copy sarah jessica parker's feather contraption in the sex and the city movie. i just can't see myself doing feathers.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I wonder if I can get a hot glue gun and some feathers from the local craft store and glue the feathers on to a pair of random shoes...... This looks similar to something what a 1st grader would make for Indians & Pilgrim’s day.

    ReplyDelete
  19. J.Crew shoes are entirely too lacking in padding for me to wear, but I do like the feathers on these. They are just like ones that adorn a tweed clutch I got maybe two years ago, and which I love, love, love :-)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Morning all!

I love neutrals, but the beige/camel-like tones wash me out as I am on the fair side. Love dark greys, blacks and jewel tones. Bring on the purple! I think I would have considered these more if they were in another jewel-toned color, like the peacock.

On a similar note, about 2-3 years ago I hit 1 of my JC stores end of season (middle of winter) and was able to purchase a similar pair of heeled shoes that were a black, white and gold threaded tweed, peep-toe, jeweled and feathered shoe in the Sale section. Now these shoes were originally about $325-350, like the new ones are now, and with the sale price and additional % off, I bought them for about $30!!! I have never been so excited for a deal as I was that one. I still have the shoes and pop them out when I want to dress up a more monochromatic or boring outfit. And they're not too flashy even w/the jewel and feathers b/c everything's in the brown, black, gold, cream family. Quite neutral, but fancy.

I've signed up for Polyvore, so if I find a pic of them or just take one myself, I'll upload w/one of my outfits.

    Just wanted to share!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I agree with other' pleas for more jewel tones. I loved the bright peacock from earlier this fall, but I was dissapointed that only a few items came in that color. I do like hot pink and orange but even I'm getting burnt out.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Marta, hah, I know exactly what pair of shoes you're talking about - I have the little handbag/clutch that matches it :-) I think the fabric is divine.

    ReplyDelete
  23. For those who might want to wear a camel or beige tone, but don't think it works for them...I think that camel and beige tones can actually wash out most skin tones...the key to pulling them off successfully is to pair them with a color that IS flattering to your own skin tone, and wear that color next to your face. :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. My first thought was that my cat would chew on those feathers!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hi Alexis, I agree with you on the too much yellow and orange this year. I like them, but I noted that many of the pieces I bought are yellow... and whenever I buy something new I have not many other options.

Off-topic: I bought the Cashmere Flora dress in charcoal, and it is OK, but it is not a "collection" item. It is simply a long sweater with a felt flower on the waist. I love the flower, and it is the only thing I would keep of the dress. Otherwise, I was disappointed to find that the flower is barely attached to the dress with some loose, ugly, cheap stiches. As soon as I tried it on, the flower was already falling because it is not securely attached. This remind me of another post where someone complained about the florence dress...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Love, Love, Love.....but the $300+ price tag is a little too steep in this market! I am a big fan of feathers in small doses--- infact I treated myself to these Hale Bob Verona shoes this fall and I get complements everywhere I go. http://www.shophalebob.com/verona.html .... and for a $115 pricetag! In another post, I asked if anyone bought the Bejewled Feather Silk Sash and did not hear back--- I called the Madison Collection store and they did not even have it, but told me that it appeared that it was the same concept as these shoes-- so I will be sure to let you know about the belt (I got it in yellow) for $58--- so if you cannot get the shoes, this may be another option..... :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. These shoes look too much like something you would buy at Frederick's of Hollywood.

I like bright colors, but I am NOT into all the yellows. Especially when in some of the items, yellow is one of two choices.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I hope jc discontinues their 80 year old hooker line...

    ReplyDelete
  29. hexicon, mine would too! I can see it now - the feathers would be all wet and torn apart!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I prefer the high-heeled version (an appalling $328), but I wouldn't pay more than $125 for them.

My cat would also love to get his paws on them!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Not a fan of these. I love yellow in clothing (especially honey glaze!!) but wearing yellow shoes I think would be a bit much for me. They really don't look comfy either (and I believe I've read that j.crew's shoes are less than stellar in this department), and since I'm on my feet all day, I really have to choose comfort over fashion.

    Plus, $315? YIKES!

    ReplyDelete
  32. FFM: How would you suggest wearing color close to the face in this instance.....I have the ruffly wool 3/4 length sleeve Chesire jacket in camel from last fall and have yet to wear it b/c the color washes me out...and I can't wear a ruffly type blouse next to my face b/c of the ruffly jacket. Thank you.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Leave it - like the other ladies, my dog would devour these shoes, and I am not spending that amount of money for a shoe that's totally impractical in midwest winters.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think these shoes (and the high heel version) are beautiful, but yes, they would have to be kept away from my feline. :) Re: price, b/c j.crew shoes are so thin with no cushioning or support, I would not pay more than $100 for these even though they're cute. Also would save for spring/summer--not wearable in NYC winters. Maybe they'll be on final sale in february for that price.

    ReplyDelete
  35. OT - does anyone own the cashmere heirloom henley? If so, what color do you have it in (I am thinking navy or putty)? Also, how does it fit? I normally wear an XS in cashmere cardi .

    ReplyDelete
  36. OT-I tried on the VERY bright pink boucle 3/4 sleeve blazer that cass mentioned seeing at the collection store last night. It's gotta be the same one but it did not carry the collection label nor price. The flower does flop and is just pinned on. It ruins the whole jacket and everyone at the store agrees. You gotta do something to fix that flower and I believe at $228 (pretty sure that was price ) you sure don't want to have to go home and figure out what to do about your floppy flower! I loved the jacket though and it fit in my normal sz 2. I am hoping this is the same as the cascading floral as that collar of flowers looks GORG-IMO. Quite a HUGE price difference thought too--better be better quality. This boucle was actually rather thin and unsubstantial.

Shoes--the price is ridiculous and the feathers seem as though they would so quickly be torn off and lost etc. Cat or Dog withstanding!

    ReplyDelete
  37. i think the yellow is actually a great sort-of-neutral tone. this particular shoe, with the feathers is a more noticeable piece (plus a crazy high price tag), but i have the city suede ballet flats in yellow and last winter's uptown tote in yellow and the yellow goes well with black, brown, camel, blues, and most grey tones. i think the pinks, reds and oranges are often too bright and noticeable to wear frequently, but the yellow is a great color to add to as a more neutral accent (if that even makes sense, but that's what i tell myself when i wear yellow all the time:)

    ReplyDelete
  38. I can't pay $300 for a pair of fun shoes, but they're cute. I don't get why the peep toes. The feather is enough detail, and it is winter. . .

    ReplyDelete
  39. anon@11:37: I would suggest wearing a turtleneck with the Chesire Jacket and earrings that compliment your skintone, as well. Here is an example: Chesire Jacket Options . The looks in the set would be great with denim. I also own a pair of Gap Pants seen Here , that have the tones of the jacket in them, as well as pink, ivory, and teal in the plaid. I think that they would quite possibly look lovely with a turtleneck in one of those colors and the jacket. You can also try a higher crewneck...since the jacket is a neutral, just about any color that flatters you will work to wear under it. HTH! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Btw...I just received the Crystal Flower Earrings and they are truly a statement piece...just a tad smaller than a quarter, and definitely an attention grabber. I will only wear them with a bracelet...a necklace would be overkill.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I feel in love with the heeled version of this shoe. For some reason I just love the feathers -- it makes the shoe look like an art piece. However, the more I thought about it, the more I became convinced that I could make my own for way under $100:

    * feathers: http://www.tonyhill.net/item499773.ctlg
    * rhinestones: http://www.rhinestoneshop.com/

Now all I need is a pair of simple pumps!

    ReplyDelete
  41. My last post was meant to be for anon @11:47, not 11:37...SORRY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Totally off topic. . .
I am planning a trip to a J.Crew outlet this weekend and was wonding if anyone frequents the outlets? Any idea what they have right now and what any promos are?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Flaneuse: I was curious, how do you find the satin holds up in your shoes?

I don't think I like these particular shoes, but I do like shoes that add a pop of color. I haven't liked all the shades of yellow they've had this season but some of them are quite nice. :)

And I also agree about the camel - it washes me out a lot too! That's one of the reasons I want a new basic winter coat, because mine is camel colored! It's also double-breasted, another feature that I've decided I don't like on me anymore. :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Alexis,

Thanks for you comment about peep-toed shoes. A lot of the fall lines have peep-toed shoes which is strange because, like you mentioned, much of this country is chilly in the fall. I don't want to pay a lot of money for shoes in fall colors that I can wear only a few weeks of the year! I'm looking for shoes in nice, fall colors (namely cranberry) that I can wear fall and winter, such as closed-toe pumps. Not having much luck.

    ReplyDelete
  45. FFM:

Thank you for the ideas of tops for the camel jacket. I will try those out and actually wear the jacket now...I appreciate your time and your helping me out:)

    J.

    ReplyDelete
  46. J: You're welcome...I hope it works for you! :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Beautiful shoe but a pass for me since I live in the north and these shoes would be totally impractical.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I kind of like these - I think for me, the price would be the reason I wouldn't get them!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I can't help but to think of big bird when I see these.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I like these... but I would not pay more than $75 for them.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I love these, but there is no way I would pay that much for them. Plus, they're also pretty impractical for the northeast this time of year (not that the cold weather has stopped me from wearing peep toes before, but still). Maybe they'll get marked down someday!

OT: does anyone have (or has seen in person) the desert floral earrings? I've been eyeing them up, but would like to know the size of them before ordering. I hate that the website doesn't have measurements for the earrings!

    ReplyDelete
  52. kristen: I think the desert floral earrings are pretty big...Roxy posted pics of the Collection Store, and one of them actually has the earrings in it...I think it can help give you a little perspective on their size: Click Here . I have the Crystal Flower earrings, and they are just a tad smaller than a quarter...the Desert Floral Earrings will more than likely be larger than that. HTH! :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. covert5--yes that was the jacket i saw at the collection store. The collection store has a lot of non-collection items, so maybe it's not a collection piece. I just saw it again at the Rockefeller store--the ones on the rack had the flower flopping down, but they had one on the mannequin where you could tell they had artificially fluffed up the flower and pinned or sewed up at the top so it looked like it was supposed to. They should send these back to the factory and have them fixed like that or they are going to have to be drastically marked down soon.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I have seen the fushia color around in stores for this winter, however citron is exclusive to JC and why do they keep bringing this color back, it always ends up in FS.

The shoes are a pass for me.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I totally agree that JCrew should bring more of Jewel tones and Camel! Light camel colors wash me out also, but dark and rich camel colors (if that makes sense?) work well with my medium-light skintone.

I also wish JCrew offered more of dark and rich greys -- "heather graphite" is nice, but not as dark as I would like. I noticed that cardigans/hoodies in deep chachoal greys sell out really fast at both Banana Republic and JCrew, whenever they offered those. So it seems I am not the only one! I would especially love to see non-heathered deep greys!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I personally LOVE these shoes, but the price and color/fabric make them totally impractical. I like the look, but would never buy them (unless of course they were on major sale!)

    ReplyDelete
  57. I love the color, hate the feather though

I personally like JCrew Becca flats because of the interesting patterns but they are so uncomfortable...

Also, between Gucci Sunset Open-Toe Ballet Flats for $425 and Babette for $315, Gucci wins (designer vs retailer $100 difference in price???) I agree with anonymous, JCrew are getting a bit full of themselves

    ReplyDelete
  58. anon 2:42 - I completely agree with you. For me, dark slate gray is my closet-staple-substitute for black. That's why I love JCrew's "cement" colored boot cords. So easy to dress up or down!

As for the shoes. I'm all about comfort (so JCrew shoes are out of the question for me). I'm constantly running after and toting my two toddlers so comfort is a must. Perhaps when they get older...

    ReplyDelete
  59. Melanie I think the satin holds up okay, but it's just not the kind of shoe you can get a lot of wear out of, KWIM? I have the Jcrew satin MJ pumps from last year in yellow, and a couple pairs of the Daniella's too. The yellow MJ pumps are almost on their last leg, which makes me a little sad. I wore them about 10 times last year, if that. The satin is fraying a bit on the back of the heel seam, and they do pick up and show dirt easily, but that is going to be a given.

    ReplyDelete
  60. They've got a very Aunt Sally's Kool Krafts, made by Aunt Sally in the basement with her glue gun look.

J Crew has definitely embraced the Posh Kitsch aesthetic for some of its' goods. I'm sure it has a following amongst the NYC My Parents Paid For Art School Now I Have To Get A Job crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Pass on these shoes. It's just too cold here - it snowed on Tuesday (though it didn't stay)!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I love the color of these flats! But I don't know about the feathers... looks like they could get grungy looking after being rubbed by the hem of pants or such.

On a different note, I haven't been here in awhile, so does anyone have any opinions on the French Serge Day Coat? I love the color (I'm a fan of the yellows, if you can't tell already) and I love the look on the model, but we all know that can be deceiving! I'd love some pointers!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I saw 40% off final sale in Pleasanton, CA today (thu 10/23).

  64. This comment has been removed by the author.

  65. LOVE THEM! I think they SCREAM panache! I also live in Fl so it would be more practical for me. The pricing is a bit ridiculous IMHO. ((Kamilah))

    ReplyDelete
  66. Not for me. I like the heeled version in black, but the price is way too high for me!

However, I do like the jeweled plume clutch. The feathers aren't over the top, but at $128 I'd still wait for a promo/sale befoe I bought it!

    ReplyDelete
  67. You know, I went to the park the other day and saw bird feather like this and I picked some up, glued it to my shoes. I guess if jc can sell them for $350, I may be onto something pretty big...

    ReplyDelete
  68. OT but did any of you notice that for the Satin rosette belt, Jcrew wrote- a easy- and affordable piece...for $40 for a belt..what do they expect, their cutomers to pay- $175for a belt...I hope not.Sorry for the extremely random rant.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I ordered the Serge Coat and found it ran large so I would suggest to size down when ordering! The color is also not as vibrant as it seems in the catalogue.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Mini Review on some new Nov items:

    Maggie Ivory and Deep Yellow:
Let me start by saying the yellow is very pretty and I think flattering to almost all skintones. It is more golden and not even as bright looking as the model in catalog (that was a concern). I agree with FFM on everything but I will say I cannot keep due to fit issues. If I were going to wear this closed it would be PERFECTION but open it does something so weird up by the armpit--A LOT like the velvet Ecole! I actually don't know how I would have chosen a color either--I LOVE both so much! It is such a bummer--the fabric is very nice, thick and warm but at the same time so totally wearable. It is not a coat as some have questioned--it is a blazer. The yellow is actually very pretty with the Golden Roses cami which brings me to the next review. This cami is such a pretty print on silk but it is voluminious and VERY lightweight silk. not substantial at all--it surprises and bothers me. Everything about it just screams COLD from the weight, to the very severe cut-in neckline (which is very pretty but not warm:)and it is billowy. Size down one size. GREAT FABRIC THOUGH!

    Bow Sweater in Heather Wheat-
runs fuller than some cardis, the fabric is soft but I cannot get into these bows--too much.

Choffon Rosette Cardi-heather chalk and heather acorn

This is TTS, the fabric is nice (dream 90 wool 10 cashmere) lovely antique buttons and vintage floreets. Not sure about these flowers--they kinda look like circles and i wish they were a little more flower looking. Just my opinion but I need t try these with things to finalize decision and color choice. Color-the heather chalk is a lighter creamy beige-very slightly heathered. it is a bit lighter than the bows sweater in heather wheat. All pretty colors. The heather acorn is a pretty brown and the little tiny crystal beads in the center of the flowers shows more. It has a dryer "hand" than the heather chalk so not quite as soft (like we always talk about, seems darker colors are typically dryer).

    Ivory polka dot Victoria Cami:
This was most surprising! It is not just a black polka dot (who would know from the tiny pic) but actually an allover teeny tiny olka dot with larger black almost daisy-like polka dots. Very interesting! I am anxious to try it on and I will give another review.

    Grey crystal garden bracelet-
I have a small wrist and it fits me fine but it does hang down and impede using my hand ever so slightly. All-in-all, I like the color and smaller versions better. There is more gold in the bigger version as well and the color just isn't as great. I do love grey but not this time.

Gotta run but back for more reviews soon:)

    ReplyDelete
  71. ^Cami-I should say GREAT PRINT!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I LOVE these! I think they would be really cute with an otherwise casual outfit and are definitely something out of the ordinary. I really like all of the new pieces J.Crew has out with feathers, crystals, and satin as I think they're very rich looking for fall and the holiday season. Now if I only had a few hundred dollars to burn...

    ReplyDelete
  73. The shoes are not my thing--a little too frou-frou for my taste, but I could see why they would be appealing.

Today I saw 40% off in the Rockaway store in NJ, 30% in Short Hills. Very different merchandise. If anyone is still interested in the paintbrush floral belle skirt (I'm sure a lot of you are, after the nice review that appeared here in this blog), Short Hills had them, priced at $99 and then take an additional 30% off that. They didn't have a lot of them, so if you're interested, give Short Hills a call.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I misspoke on the name of the skirt--it's the sketchbook roses belle skirt, the one with the gray flowers and the taffeta look...the Grace Kelly skirt. Sorry about that!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Okay--I am back but I have something very disheartening to say...I went to place the grey bracelet back in the box and noticed one of the diamond stones laying in there..not a good sign:( The bracelet is $100+ with tax--it is made in China. Very disappointing. I believe their jewelry is really best purchased on sale as it is just not worth the retail price--this just confirms what so many have said.

Fuschia floral bracelet--much prettier than the grey, still hangs a bit low on wrist but I think they cut it that way on purpose--it's not supposed to have cuff-type look. Flowers are so much showier in colors. Still pricey and stones may fall out..it's a tough call. Flowers show up SO much better in the colors (I had citron already). Citron can blend in to fair skin but it is very pretty with Golden Roses and Honey Glaze etc. etc.

Should have mentioned--the Golden Rose cami is just fuller than the Victoria but not quite as much as Eliz (pretty close though).

BTW-who mentioned the Juliets on sale at Columbus Circle for $79.99 + % off--I called and they said no sale at all.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Totally off topic...

I received my Bair McNutt Georgia jacket, which I got for like 16 bucks, haha. I like the fit, I got the bright yellow. I know people had sung the jacket's praises on here, does anyone have suggestions on how they wear the yellow?

    Thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Speaking of all the yellows this season, has anyone seen the cornsilk sweaters this season? Do you like the color in person? Does it look similar in person to how it looks online?

    ReplyDelete
  78. I think that they are cute...certainly not worth the $300 + pricetag. And I LOVE the yellow this year for some reason.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I love these shoes, but not the price tag. I've got some silver satin pumps that I am going to take to be dyed. I've already bought some guinea feathers online on eBay, and some rhinestone earrings that I will alter to make the little jeweled detail on the toe. I'm thinking I'll do black satin shoes instead of the yellow, however. If they turn out looking decent and not all pilgrim-y, then maybe I will post a picture of them...just in case anyone else is thinking of making their own Babette shoes!

    ReplyDelete
  80. These are a leave for me for 2 reasons: the feathers and the price. I have a pair of patent yellow flats and love wearing yellow shoes! So, I think the color is great - but feathers on my feet? I don't think so.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I have a question about J Crew ballet flats. I received my first pair today, the Martine flat, and I ordered it in my normal size 7. It feels huge, but if I go half a size down they would be too small. Is there something that I can put in the shoe to make it fit more snuggly? They are absolutely gorgeous!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I think they look like a bird died on your shoe! :)

    ReplyDelete
  83. I love these shoes actually, they're fun and funky. BUT...open-toe? Come on now, I thought this was a Winter collection? And the price is wayyy too high for something I'd only wear occasionally. I'm curious if these will sell out or soon be on the sale rack??

  84. Oops. Sorry. Didn't mean to get anyone panicked! The site says FINAL sale when you click the icon on the lower left under "women's", but it says FALL sale if you access the sale area from the icon at the top of the screen. Sorry for the confusion! Glad to see it's NOT final sale!

  85. @kristin the Desert floral earrings are pretty big, about the size of a silver dollar. They are also quite heavy in my opinion. They pulled my ears down when I tried them on.

  86. Can someone please help me: If you receive an online order of final sale items, does it say final sale on your invoice.

I ordered an item that I thought was FS, but it doesn't say so on the invoice. I'm wondering if that means I can return it.

    TIA for any help!

  87. OT -- where is the golden roses skirt shown on the website? I've seen people refer to it, but I can't seem to find it.

  88. covert5: thanks for your review!
I really want to get the garden bracelet, I've been liking the grey but I have a small wrist and it was really loose on me. Since it's a snap closure I wouldn't be able to adjust it, it does hang really low. Is there a fuscia color in stores, sounds beautiful? I only see a citrus and coral color online.

  89. I'm an idiot -- I just clicked on "shits & tops" and saw the skirt right away. Pretty!

So I'm confused - are you keeping the maggie or sending it back?

  91. Does anyone know the name of a cardigan that has just a single small grosgain bow on the collar. It is a crew neck, long-sleeve, no pockets, and hits just above the waist. My b&m had it and I loved it, but the only color (it was on sale) was grey and I already have a cardigan in this color. I was wondering if it came in any other colors. It was a nice weight and style.

  92. supposed to be "grosgrain"

  93. JLiz - I have the Bair McNutt Georgia in yellow. I haven't worn it yet but if I had it throw it on and walk out the door I'd wear it with my white/ivory Piper tank (jewel neck with tie), jeans and brown animal print heels, gold bracelets. I think a print blouse would work well underneath. And a tissue turtleneck might also work well. I think the color is so vibrant it's best to keep it simple. The jacket sleeves are shorter, so something to pay attn to on the sleeves of what you wear underneath.

covert5 - What is the fuschia floral bracelet?

  94. The price is too steep and they do not look flattering to the foot. The feather fad is not my thing, too trendy. I think this shoe would do better if the feather was more to the side than on top. The sole looks really thin too, doesn't look like it will hold up well. BTW- Does anyone have the whisper lame shirt? IT's $19.99 right now and not sure if I should go for it. Does it look garish or cool?

  95. 9:14--if the invoice doesn't say final sale and there's no final sale sticker on the item, you can return it. Probably their mistake but why not take advantage.

  96. Thanks to FFM and Roxy for the info on the desert floral earrings. I was looking for something that would be a statement piece but they look/sound a little too big. I definitely don't want something that's going to pull on my ears! Maybe the crystal flower earrings will be better suited for me.

I'd also love any suggestions on what colors people would wear with the chiffon florette cardigan in heather acorn. I love the color, but I'm not sure what colors will go nicely and also not sure if the heather acorn will work with my skin tone/hair. Any advice would be great. :)

  97. Leaderboys- I think the gray cardigan you're referring to is the City T cardigan. I have them in 4 colors (I know, ridiculous!) But I love them all! There was black, gray, cream and almost white one. They're all a little different from one another in terms of decoration, buttons, etc.

  98. Correction to my last post- that should be "city tee" if you're searching online. I think it only was sold in black and cream online...

  99. kristin--banana republic has a nice selection of earrings that are very light weight even if the actual earrings are big. I am not a fan of a lot of BR necklaces and bracelets but I love their earrings. They are also currently having an in-store promotion--buy 2 pieces of jewelry and get 30% off.

I have it in dark gold, and just ordered it in graphite as well. The dark gold runs to what it looks like on the screen. I really love it, but the color is pretty bright, but I usually either wear it open with a grey tank and jeans, or a neutral-colored dress.

  102. 9:14 - I had the same luck last week on several FS items that I purchased. Two of them did not fit as I would have liked so I took them back to my local B&M store and returned with out any problems.

On topic the shoes are very cute but, have some issues as to how well the feathers would hold up.

Yellow. orange, hot pink, turquoise all bright colors are my favorites.
I love the way JC always has such a wonderful color selection in such a drab retail season.
AT, ATL, BR etc., always have plenty of your dark staple basic colors as, well as your primary colors.
Take a look at Lilly Puiltzer she is known for "pink" and what a beautiful pink it is.

  103. 9:14 - I had the same luck from some items that I had ordered off JC FS. Two of the items did not work so, I returned them to the store without any complications.
On topic of the shoes, I am not that sure about the feather's.
Topic on colors....love yellow, orange, hot pink, turquoise any thing bright. I am so happy JC carries such a great selection of wonderful colors to wear with all the primary pieces that we can purchase at AT, ATL, BR etc.
If you really like hot pink check out Lilly Puiltzer, she is know for her beautiful pinks and bright colors.

  104. Thank you gigiofca! I am going to try some options... I think a slate gray would look nice with it too. I will let you know what I end up with!

  106. jliz - Grey is a great idea! I'll have to try that as well.

  107. Covert5 -- I posted about the Juliets at Columbus Circle; that's so strange! It was only the yellow orange and turquoise ones and they didn't seem to have a TON, so maybe they sold out? They were definitely on sale though.... Sorry about that :(

  108. kitchy7--your post is HILARIOUS! SHITS and Tops! :):):) Also-don't think golden rose skirt is up yet--just shown with other pieces.

I would LOVE to keep Maggie-dynamite staple jacket but I cannot get past the strange bunching in between my armpit/breast area. A lot like the people with Ecole fit issues. I am holding out for the totally different (and TOTALLY less practical) but so coveted Astrid Cascade:0

You know--the guy I spoke to seemed full of himself as he didn't even say anything after telling me in a very short tone "no they aren't on sale" then he rambled off talking to someone in the store and hung up--no goodbye, nothing--rude:(

  109. Covert 5 - thanks so much for your review of the golden roses cami - I have been eyeing that one - now I know what size to order! You do great reviews btw!

  112. I could not reply yesterday, it kept saying unavailable at this time....

But in case Kristin reads this, I have the desert earrings, and they are 1 1/2 " long from top of the small flower to bottom of large flower.

They are GREAT, and have had many compliment son them.

  113. I prefer the heeled version of this shoe. The style is very similar to a wool version with feather and stone adornment from a few seasons ago I am still kicking myself for not having purchased!
