J.Crew Aficionada Poll {what's next? you decide!} :)

A big "thank you!" to all those who participated in the recent "Does Your New Year's Resolution Include J.Crew?" poll. The final results are in:
  • Yes! I am going to spend less at J.Crew. 29% (146)
  • Yes! I am going to *try* to spend less at J.Crew. ;) 42% (214)
  • Yes. I am going to spend *more* at J.Crew! :) 9% (50)
  • No. I have other changes to make or resolve. :) 18% (93)
I t-o-t-a-l-l-y understand how the "Yes! I am going to *try* to spend less at J.Crew. ;)" resolution was the most popular, since that was my New Year's resolution too! :) I want to spend less, but J.Crew makes it soooo difficult! (Incidentally, that was my only New Year's resolution- and of course it was about J.Crew!) ;)

I really enjoy these polls- I find them both fun and interesting (like the poll about which winter coat fabric is your favorite). Most of the polls come from J.Crew Aficionadas and Aficionados' suggestions. Therefore, I thought it would be great to have a dedicated post about what the next poll should be. After a few days, a new poll, derived from the comments, will be posted. :)

What would you like the next J.Crew Aficionada poll to be about?

  1. A poll concerning the JC collection, or sample sale would be brilliant.

  2. What's your favorite season when it comes to J.Crew merchandise?

  3. That is a great one FFM!

For a post, if you had to wear just one JC outfit for the rest of your life what would it be?

Also FFM, I have been trying to try you down to ask a question. I need your fashion advice. Can I wear the grey and the black maggie with the deep persimmon and bright blue serges? and if so, what shirt and shoes would I wear with them. Sorry if you already saw this in another post.

    thanks!!

  4. Good Morning Penny! I would definitely wear the Black and Gray Maggies with the Bright Blue serge. Is the Deep Persimmon more orange or red IRL? If it's more red, I think the gray and black Maggie would work...if it's more Orange, then I would be hesitant to put them together. I have a lot of the Orange/Bright Flame colored pieces, and usually wear them with Navy, Camel, White or Brown...I don't tend to put them with Gray or Black.

  5. Thank you FFM!!! You are right, navy and camel would go best withthe persimmon, I didn;t even think of that!! Now I am regretting not getting the maggie in camel when I had the chance! thanks so much for your expert advice

  6. I would like to see a question about the declining quality i.e. Which item would like to see J Crew improve/upgrade the quality on?...
and this may not fit into a poll but a post.
If you could choose 1 item you would like to J Crew bring back?

  7. I like Penny's idea. If could wear just one JC outfit, or your one favorite piece that you can't do without.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Of course, that doesn't quite work as a poll, does it. Doh!

  9. I would bring back the academy blazers, I love all 4 of mine and would buy them in every fabric and color they could make.

  10. How about a poll asking how long you've been a devoted j.crew customer? you can put year increments as your answers...0-3 years, 4-7...etc. Would be interesting to see how many of us on here have been loyal for a long time and how many have just recently fallen in love with the brand :)

  11. I'd love to know: "What percentage of purchases do you return?" I buy and return a lot, but I have a feeling that I am not alone!

  12. I'm with Casual-Crew. After wearing a cambridge cardigan twice and noticing that it's all pilled already, I am discouraged with the quality of this and other items, especially cashmere, that I've paid over $100 for and are now as cheap looking as items from Kohl's or Old Navy. JCrew sweaters have been a big disappointment for me.

  13. What about...
What items of clothing would you like JCrew to make? For instance, I would love a lightweight spring/summer blazer/jacket that is fitted or notched-in at the waist, 3/4 or elbow sleeves, that would look good layered over a tank or lightweight tee. Something in a linen-blend with a bit of stretch, perhaps?

Or a lightweight shirtdress that's seamed to be more body-conscious (so you don't need to belt it to give it shape) to be worn in the summer?

I'd love to hear you ladies' ideas too!

  14. Thanks for the polls! Very interesting.

  15. I would love their staples made all year in different fabrics and colors. For example the double serge, wouldn't it be great if they made the same skirt wool=winter and fall linen and cotton=summer and spring, in tons of colors with the matching jackets and shoes. That way every year you could get a different color or two. I know they do something similar now but it isn't consistent. Of course I am one of those people that finds somethign I like and then buys it in every color.

  16. I know one thing people would bring back...that's the Bella. Perhaps a glorious Spring/Summer version too:)

I realize this is going a bit stray of the poll but...:)

    ReplyDelete
  17. How about a poll asking what we'll be sorriest to put away once spring comes? Our Lille coats, or glorious less than fifty bucks apiece cashmere sweater dresses, or our knee boots? I love winter clothes and accessories and I rue the sunny warmth for shelving my cashmere. However, I won't be sorry to put down my sweater comb due to the pilling issues this season!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes Bug Pin, I still regret not buying any of the Bellas, now when I see them on ebay they never have my size. I would buy that is every fabric and color

    ReplyDelete
  19. off topic but I agree; they need to bring back both the academy blazers and bellas!!! I regret not getting the bella coat last year... it was so pretty.

  20. What percentage of your wardrobe is from JCrew?

    ReplyDelete
  21. What is your impression of J.Crew quality of late:

    failed to meet my expectations
    meets my expectations
    exceeds my expectations

    ReplyDelete
  22. How about a poll asking how frustrated everyone is w all the website problems?

    ReplyDelete
  23. How about what percentage of your wardrobe is J.Crew (per above suggestion:) but then ask what other labels you wear/combine with your J.Crew pieces, and not just accessories (that's too easy), but pieces of clothing - I wonder about this and think it would be fun to hear from others.
    A :)

  24. How would you describe your style aesthetic? Some examples would be: Modern, Retro/vintage, Preppy, etc. or mixes of the above.

One on style icons would be cool too. For example: Audrey Hepburn, Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  25. How many orders do you place in 1 week?

    ReplyDelete
  26. he he :) Before I met everyone on this blog I thought I was weird for placing an order and then sometimes another one the same day or the next. Last year in the Jan Final Sale I ordered so much and so often that sometimes I forgot what was coming until it arrived.

(On the upside - I must have shopped well as this winter I have enjoyed getting out and wearing the jackets and cashmere I bought last year.... :)

  27. Another idea: What part of the country do JCAs live in (or out of the country)

    West Coast
    East Coast
    Midwest
    Canada
    Europe/Other

    ReplyDelete
  28. If you had to sum up The JCrew Look in one word, what would it be:

    Basic
    Casual
    Preppy
    Work-Attire
    Elegant
    Luxurious
    Innovative
    etc etc

    ReplyDelete
  29. How about which category (e.g. skirts, coats, pants, shirts, tees, sweater, sweats, etc.) do you buy the most from J Crew?

    ReplyDelete
  30. I also want to hear what percentage of items people return - maybe subdivided between people who live near a B&M and people who have to mail returns in, since this would clearly affect the results.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thank you Everyone! I really appreciate your help. :)

I have been reading all your {great} comments and I have a few {fun} polls already in mind with them. I will be sure to have a new one ready to go soon. :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. What do you do with your J. Crew shipping boxes? Recycle them? Use them to ship Ebay stuff? Set them on fire? He, he, he....

    ReplyDelete
  33. A couple ideas for blog topics and/or polls:

JCrew denim and your favorite style

JCrew swimwear and your favorite style

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have been trying all day to access the J.Crew website and all I get is: JSP_EXECUTION_FAILED...What is this? Has anyone else encountered this, as well? Very frustrating! Terrible customer service, I wish I did not like their clothes so much!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Alexis- I personally would like to see a poll on a topic like "What is most frustrating about shopping with JCrew for you?"

We all love their clothes but it seems that the majority of us had an issue or two with our orders (i.e. status of the order not clear, wrong items shipped etc.)

I get upset when I shop online, click on an item and it's "not available, but the gift gurus are"-why are the items that are not available even listed online?

    Sorry for the long post!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm not sure if this is poll related, but I love to see more in-real-life-photos of people in their j crew items. It is so good to see what the items look like on real people of all sizes.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Thanks everyone! I have decided to use one of the suggestions for a poll topic. However, you have given me so many great topics- that they will be used for subsequent polls. Thanks again!!! :)

  38. I agree with everyone that J. Crew should BRING BACK THE BELLA!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. I have two and wish I had every single one. The collar is the most beautiful collar I have ever seen and I get compliments every time I wear it. The collar would look beautiful in other fabrics for other seasons too--similar to the Victoria camis.
