  1. I used the offer to buy the Pavia. I have always liked this sweater and was lucky to find it available at the time of this offer. :) I bought the bright rhubarb color. I hope i got the size right because it was final sale.

  2. Alexis, I just want to let you know that I love your blog and through it I have learned tons of valuable information, and bought items from fellow Aficionadas on the weekly exchange that I could not find anywhere else. THANK YOU so much for making this a place for us to have a community just for JCrew lovers. It's amazing!

I am hoping to wake up tomorrow and see a double serge pencil skirt in size 4 black magically appear on the site, in which case I will buy it and a Tall velvet ecole and whatever else I need to meet the $100 minimum and race to the checkout! Since that isn't going to happen, I probably won't use this promo. Sad.

Anyone have the cashmere heirloom henley? What do you wear it with besides jeans? Does it look good with skirts and dressier stuff?

  3. Who here owns the merino rose cardigan?

I bought it in pewter and plum and I have 2 questions...

    1) Do any other of the colors have contrasting flowers on them? I think the snow is nice, but I'm not sure I like that the flowers match.

    2) Should I put fray-check on the edges of the roses or do they launder well?

    TIA for the info!!

  4. This is OT but when is the spring stuff going to hit the website??? Does anyone know?

  5. slightly OT, but I just noticed that Gap.com now also has a "final sale" section.

So maybe J Crew's policy isn't unusual, it's just ahead of the times?

  6. Anon @ 7:13--what's fray-check? I just sprayed down the front of my Lili chiffon ruffled cardi with hairspray to keep the petals from fraying. If you know of something better, I'd be interested to hear about it. I love the cardi but fear its not going to be a lasting love!!

  7. rosie @7:21 PM,

Yes I noticed Gap also added a final sale section recently, but that's very, VERY, different from that of JCrew. Their final section is very limited and the price is indeed very low, and the majority of their sales still allow returns.

Also, I do not think Gap is copying the final section of JCrew. In fact, Piperlime always had a very small section of final sale. After all, Gap and Piperlime are the same company.

The (small) final sale sections of Shopbop, LunaBoston, Gap, Piperlime etc are all very reasonable in my opinion, and it never bothered me. JCrew on the other hand, is a totally different story. We all know why.

The prolonged final sales at JCrew ultimately changed my shopping pattern, not in a good way.

  8. Anon 7:13,
I have the Snow Merino Rose cardi and love it. The flower is definately more Ivory colored than the sweater. Just enough contrast.
I also wondered about the fray check. What is that?

  9. I'm glad the free shipping is almost over. Let's have another 30% off!
(Although really, I have no business buying ANYTHING else, especially final sale!)

  10. Fray check is a liquid you can buy at the craft store. It is applied to unfinished edges of ribbon and fabric to seals the ends so that the threads do not fray. If I remember correctly it dries hard similar to a clear nail polish but it is not as smelly or thick. It is suppose to dry completely clear but in my experience, it can leave a stain. It does not color the fabric but it can leave a wet look behind, so test first

  11. RE: Merino Rose Cardigan...
I have the Heather Wheat color that I believe was store only--one of the reasons I liked this one was that the roses were ivory and a darker brown so they stood out. Great sweater!

    RE: Cashmere Heirloom Henley...
I got this in Citron as it was the only color that was "fun" in my size. I wear it mostly with jeans because of the brigtness of the color, but the style itself would look great with skirts! I have also worn mine with the Navy Academy trousers..but then again I will put anything with navy!:)

    Hope this helps!

  12. I hope they offer another code this coming week. I personally think it's a lot more fun to look at the sale section when there is a coupon being offered. ;)

  13. Luckily, I bought 7H Trixie white fog dot(?) two days ago and used this promotion code and 15% student discount! It costed me about $120+. :)

  14. I have made three orders three days in a row w/o using the coupon because the items were not all available at the same time. Altogether the orders exceeded the coupon min. They've finally worn me down to where I'll eat the shipping for now. I may call & request a credit but really hate to since I feel like I'm asking for a special favor. Last spring I made this request & they accomodated me because the orders were placed on the same day.

When you are stalking an item, sometimes the only option is to load it in the cart & checkout immediately or you lose it. No time to meet the minimum in one trip!

  15. Completely OT but WOW! I got a look at pictures of some Collection items coming in the next few months that are not in the look book. There were several very pretty things, but two pieces that took my breath away! One was called the deco cardigan. It was a misty grey with silver and yellow beading in the neck that had an art deco type arrangement. The other was an amazing handbag. It reminded me of the Las Palmas, but only because it was goldish with a brown handle. The shape was somewhat similar to the Las Palmas too, but the handle was vachetta and the bag was more gold than ivory. I think they are both March/April timeframe, but I can't wait. Sweater will be around $180 and bag at $400

  16. Not taking advantage of this one. I hope they mean final sale ends Sunday, although something tells me they just mean that the free shipping code ends Sunday.

  17. I have the merino rose cardigan in snow...wearing it right now :) Both the roses are the same color. Not sure how it launders.

  18. I'm in love with the Paradise jacquard Clea jacket (my husband wants to know why I suddenly think I'm a little old lady who lives in Florida). At $199, they have it in every size, even after the 20% off. Waiting for them to slash the price again. The other Clea jackets are $129 tops. Let's get on it, J. Crew!

  19. Fray Check is awesome stuff. I bought my bottle at Michael's about 4 years ago. I swear not a week goes by that I don't use it. It dries flexible and clear. Not hard at all. I use it on any fabric that starts to fray from my favorite clothing item, ribbon belts, flower pin petals, even underwear one time! It washes well and does not come off. JUST USE A TINY AMOUNT! (and I mean tiny). One bottle should last MANY years...mine is not even 1/2 gone after 4 years.

  20. I have no business buying anything else on this FS! I just tallied my charge receipts and I have bought: 9 tops,4 belts,9 cardi's,4 t-necks, 3 pj pants, 2 coats, 2 bags,1 necklace, and 1 bracelet! (I have a problem, please tell me I'm not the only one) But everyone, the website seems to get updated every AM around 8 EST, so do check if you are still hoping for a miracle.

  21. Anon @ 4:24: The Paradise jacquard Clea jacket is beautiful, great for a party or special occasion. I just love the fabric and color. My only issue is that i seems very narrowly cut in the shoulders, at least compared to other jackets i own in the same size. I plan on returning it because if i size up, it will be too wide in the bodice and won't be half as flattering.

  22. Ann at 6;46, amen sister. I have spent hundreds of dollars over the past coupes of weeks. I can't seem to stop!! But I'm ok with having a little JC judgment lapse every now and again, as long as its followed by a few months of being good! Besides, I work really hard, and it helps to have a husband who never says a peep!
