A big "thanks!" to the following members who were kind to share some {great} real life images of many new arrivals at their local stores:
  • FabulousFloridaMommy (FFM) (in this post) has lots of great images including several tees and the Keegan jacket (click both here and here to view)

  • jcbellemarie (in this post) has lots of pictures of new arrivals including the Keegan Jacket and Ringspun V shirt (click here)
Lastly, "thanks!" to Jo (in this post) who shared with us the cover of the latest catalog, which features Lauren Hutton. Doesn't she look stunning!?!

Jo also adds: "There's no words to describe all the new merchandise.. My loves right now;
Library Shawl Cardi
White Matchsticks
Faille Maisey Jacket
ringspun Rosette Tee (gor-ge-ous!)".

I cannot wait to see the new catalog!

What are your thoughts on the new arrivals? Are there any pieces you are looking forward to? Have you tried on, or purchased, any of the new arrivals already? If so, please share! :) Also, have you seen or received the latest catalog? If so, please let us know that as well! :)

  1. The trench in the Spring 2009 image is brilliant

  2. Ayumi: I couldn't agree with you more. It looks a-m-a-z-i-n-g in that photo. :)

  3. The 'Teegan' Trench is fabulous!!
But wait... there's a more classic 'iconic' trench coming! Seeing this one, I almost regret buying the shorter 'Tuesday' Trench...

LAUREN HUTTON graces the new catalog!

  4. I really love the Tuesday trench. It's on my list if a coupon comes out. Although I hope it gets marked down.

I was actually in a B&M tonight and it was dead. D-E-A-D, dead. Granted, I was in there around the dinner hour at a store location where there are a lot of families, but I've never seen it that dead even so. Like the others, I saw a lot of spring items. The store was transformed. I saw a couple other trenches besides the Tuesday, but I still like the Tuesday the best for me. There are some spring items I'd like to get if they're marked down. Nothing I can't wait for to hit sale.

  7. Oh you ladies are killing me! I must get to JC to see the new goodies

  8. hi! just at my store today. lots of great spring stuff that is definitely not wearable yet in this rainy weather...shucks!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I am just wondering when they will put it online since I don't plan on going to the store anytime soon. I would like to see more of that shawl cardigan, especially more colors. It looks promising.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I posted some pics of spring items on my blog at http://jcbellemarie.blogspot.com/

on Thursday. I hope the Keegan trench and others work for JCAs! They were too loose for me (IRL pics shown to help anyone of the same body type), but it was fun to see the new arrivals (very pretty muted colors) in store.

My SA said more is coming, so I'm crossing my fingers for that!

  11. I went tonight and the only thing I was impressed with and bought was the shell ringspun tee with the chiffon roses all over it. It is so beautiful - and though it looks thin in pictures, it is not see-through and flimsy. I think I like this shirt just as much as the fall rose chiffon tee. This one is actually prettier. That's all I plan on buying from this rollout.

  12. I spoke with the purchasing manager at my B&M and she said the new Men's items should be on the floor this week, as well as more jewelry, and another rollout is scheduled for next month, as well. I have also read posts on other threads from SA's that said Men's arrivals will be in stores tomorrow, the 26th. :)

  13. I remember seeing the Shawl Library Cotton Cashmere pic on someones blog, and I cannot remember which one. If someone could help me it would be appreciated, I have looked on the blogroll I cannot find it anymore.

I wish the online rollout would coincide with the stores.

  14. Thanks for posting everyone :D I'm really looking forward to the Annie cami (I just think it is SO pretty), and the chiffon flower tees. I'm also planning to pick up a few Jackie cardigans in new colors for Spring.

  15. I bought the new 'iconic' trench yesterday--all the SAs were obsessed with it. I have to say, I've been waiting for JCrew to do a trench like this one--it's gorgeous!

  16. casual-crew: Is this it? http://whitedressesbluesashes.blogspot.com/2009/01/jcrew-spring-arrivals.html

Also, thanks to everyone for sharing their pics :D I may have to hop into my local J. Crew and see everything in person.

  17. FYI: site just updated for today:)

    ReplyDelete
  18. Jo: Thanks for sharing the cover with us! I updated the post with that info. Lauren looks amazing! I can't wait to see the new catalog now. :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. casual-crew and everyone,

Yes, it makes no sense that stores get new stuff before online. More people shop online. You think JCrew would want the stuff online FIRST before stores. Makes no sense to me...

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thanks to all the people hosting a blog w/photo's. There are more & more bloggers in different shapes & sizes which is sooo helpful for determining fit, style, etc. I have to add more time to my morning routine to hit all of them. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anon at 1:03 AM: Thanks! :) I am really excited to wear the Jillians too. Just like you, I can't wait to wear them in the Spring. :)

Jeff: I know- I couldn't believe I found shoes too! :) They made it sound like there would be so many shoes available, but it was literally two small boxes and that was it. I think I only saw one pair of shoes (winter boots) for men. I am sorry to hear that Friday was not as good. Maybe they will price things super low today to move merchandise. :)

Chiffoncupcake: Thanks! I am surprised by how many shoes I walked away with considering how few were available. I hope the sales will be good for today. :) Also, another member mentioned going to the Cole Haan sample sale and was raving about it. She mentioned that they had the latest season of merchandise as well as previous ones, at great prices.

  22. Has anyone seen this tank in stores? It looks really cute! Here is a pic from Slastena's blog: http://s466.photobucket.com/albums/rr21/jcrewchick/?action=view&current=IMG_0321.jpg

I also really want this ruffle tank (from FFM's blog): http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_jcKOFV1ha3Y/SXlDtfD-y9I/AAAAAAAAAY8/YzcT3QUy8YU/s320/J.Crew+Photos+012.jpg

I must say, it looks like J. Crew has some fabulous Spring items coming out! I'm already looking forward to round 2

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yea, the manager in my B&M stated that the new items should be coming in the third week of every month so I will keep checking in.

    ReplyDelete
  24. i heard (from a SA) that the new stuff will be online 1/31

    ReplyDelete
  25. I too agree that trench is brillant. I'm not that excited by the Spring 09 collection. I visited to the Grove, Pasadena and BH locations. I didn't get anything from the Spring collection. I guess my wallet and bank account is happier after exiting. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  26. OT. Lauren Hutton is lovely, but she's been acting hella crazy in public the last times I've seen her...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Which trench are people in love with? The Tuesday one? So many trenches I am loosing track....

    ReplyDelete
  28. lleila - the tank pictured with the skirt on Slastena's blog looks identical to a dress that had in the store. The dress was so cute but had this weird hump in the back that was not flattering on me at all. Maybe there is a tank coming out like it or they used a dress with the skirt for the photo.

    ReplyDelete
  29. EBL- Can you describe the "iconic" trench? Length, color, belted or not? I was just about to buy the Tuesday Trench, but maybe I should wait.

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks to everyone who posted pics on their blogs!! Love seeing what pieces look like IRL. Love the chiffon rosette tees.

    ReplyDelete
  31. WOW - Lauren looks fabulous on that cover!! AND, being "old" myself (yikes!), I'm super-thrilled to see her modeling again with J.Crew! I just ordered the Tuesday trench last week - should arrive Tuesday (hope I don't regret it - am anxious to see the "iconic" trench, too). Really looking forward to seeing the library shawl cardigan - super-cute and I LOVE a shawl collar!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I wish JCrew would go ahead and put the spring items online. This will be the longest week.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Joyce - I agree! It will be a long week! Do we really have to wait until Jan 31 to see new spring on-line?

    ReplyDelete
  34. For you ladies that love Target, if you shop online here's a promo code I got in my email.

    Its for $5 off 50.
    promotion code TCR4W2W4.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I looked at my february catalog and realized that the khaki jacket pictured on one of the blogs that many were saying they wish would come in another color is the faille maisey jacket featured on the back cover of this catalog - and it comes in dusty rose and dark charcoal as well!

    ReplyDelete
  36. The new spring collection is amazing, and I definitely prefer to check it out "live" rather than online. I am lucky to have a store nearby and the SA's there are amazing.

I came back with quite a haul:
The new "Teegan" Trench in white: Love the removable ruffle collar and it is the softest twill (kind of like the buttery twill pant of last year). It is a slightly boxy shape but I am a size 8 and it balanced my figure very well. It was a must buy once I tried it on.

The ringspun tee- brown with blue/grey flowers. The ringspun is a bit more substantial this year and I had a hard time choosing just one tee.

The Merino Michelle cardi- The new color palette is very flattering. Lots of neutrals, blush, and blue greys. I chose one with super fine khaki/white stripes.

The Stone Bead Ribbon necklace - glazed pecan. Gorgeous. It is not at all as heavy as you might think and I love that the ribbon allows you to wear the necklace at different lengths.

Boyfriend tissue v-neck in aqua- JCA's if you have not bought these yet please do. This is my 4th color and they are on promo in the stores for $25. They are a true "boyfriend" cut with extra length and not as fitted as the perfect tee- light weight (you do need something like the perfect tank under them) and they are holding up well in the laundry. I have washed mine several times with no issues but I do keep all of my lightweight cottons in one load seperate from denim/bras/anything that might snag.

I did not feel like trying on bottoms. Just one of those days. But I have an appt. with a PS this week so I will be ready to review some pants and skirts.

    Looooooooving spring right now.

    ReplyDelete
  37. i'm so excited to see lauren hutton back!! i was in the store yesterday and there are a lot of gorgeous items out now. :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. also, thanks to everyone who posted pics!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Now you've got me so curious about the "iconic" trench- how does it compare to the travel trench? What colors does it come in? Is it long/short? material?

    ReplyDelete
  40. thanks anon 11:03 for all those reviews.

I have to admit, I'm loath to spend even $25 for a tee that requires wearing something else underneath. I just think it's such a ripoff. Come on, j.crew, just make the tees in decent-weight material in the first place. It can't possibly cost that much more to do so. Flimsy "tissue" and "featherweight" items are so much more susceptible to coming apart. You've gone back go Lauren Hutton, j.crew, now how about a return to quality?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Nothing excites me so far or is a must have. Looks like some nice pieces but I am tired of thin thin t-shirts and I have plenty of jackets to wear. Spring doesn't last long and I am more of a sweater gal. Only wear a jacket when it rains. Sweaters are much more cozy and comfy to keep warm on cool mornings.

I don't buy full price; waiting for the sales but thanks for all the pictures everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anony@11:46

I agree. I won't even spend $25 on a thin tee! No way. When I go t-shirt shopping I look for quality, thick tees. I have some beautiful ones from several stores and they have held up very well. I don't buy JCrew's thin tees...not worth it unless they are $9.99--that is my max. price for one! $50 are they serious???

    ReplyDelete
  43. I tried on the new tees, and none require wearing anything underneath them, and I would never let my bra show through a shirt. I think they are the same thickness as previous J. Crew tees. I would rather pay $30, but I really liked the two I bought and don't want them to seel out. Seriously, though, I pay $20 more dollars for a sweater than for their $50 tees! It is crazy

    ReplyDelete
  44. I've bought thick, 100% cotton tees at Target for $7, and I don't have to handwash them for fear of seams coming apart of holes developing. I've found some cute, patterned ones, too, for $12, still all cotton, still thicker than the kleenex tees J.crew peddles. Not saying I don't think the crew ones look cute, they're just priced far above their quality warrants.

    ReplyDelete
  45. If I found cheaper, thicker tees that I liked, I would buy those, too. I really like J. Crew graphic tees - haven't had luck anywhere else.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Also, for most tees, I wait until they go on sale and I can get them for $10-20. The ones I really like get bought at a higher price.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I find gorgeous printed tees for $7-15 dollars at various stores and they wear well and I get compliments on them all the time. Most times I wear them under sweaters and jackets anyway.

I LOVE JCrew but the one thing I don't buy anymore--last two years- is their graphic tees. Way over priced for what you get...quality and design. Easily found elsewhere. I don't get sucked in by the JCrew name...I am a very discerning shopper:)

    ReplyDelete
  48. First, appreciate all of the pic posts! It's truly appreciated. I did see some new stuff Thur.--wasn't really thrilled with it, but my store is small and doesn't get lots of stuff in. I think I saw this Liberty Shawl cardi, and it did seem nice but not necessarily for the price of $98.00. It was a weight a little thicker than a Jackie cardi I think.

I was told by J Crew CS that the new items would post on the 29th.

I really love the Lauren Hutton cover!

And a favor to ask..if anyone goes to a store and sees any new spring printed scarves pls post about them. I'm not sure there are any.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anon at 12:26,

Where do you find the nice graphic tees for cheaper? I'd love to find tees at a more affordable price - I don't have to have the J. Crew name :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Thank you to Fabulous Florida Mommy for all of those wonderful pics! I live about 45 minutes from my B&M so I haven't had a chance to view the new spring items yet. I am excited about that shell ringspun tee with the rosettes! I can already think of so many things to wear it with...I think it would look great with jeans or a skirt. I'm not too excited about the price of close to $50 for a
    t-shirt though :(

    ReplyDelete
  51. I completely understand why some posters do not but the lightweight tees, but I think some miss the point. The featherweight and ringspun are suppose to be thin. The people that buy them regularly like the airy soft feel of the fabric. If you want a thick cotton tee, than this fabric is not for you.
I think there is a way to share our opinions about prices and fabric without being condescending.
Time and time again I see posts that come across as very judgmental about what other JC fans are buying and how much they spend on an item. It's almost like, if you payed more that 90% off, you are looked down on as an uneducated shopper. It's not the disagreement or opinions on what items cost that bugs me, it is just an underlying attitude of being superior to other bloggers.
Sorry for the vent but it has been bothering me for awhile.

I'll being hitting my store tomorrow and I look forward to seeing the new items. :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I agree with Shannon. I love thin Tshirts. I own a few JCrew featherweight Tshirts and I prefer them to the Tshirts from other brands. I don't have any problems washing the Tees - I select delicate or handwash cycle when I use the washing machine.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't interpret it as criticism of those who like ringspun or thin or whatever tees, just the price that j.crew charges - $40-50 for tissue-thin tees is worthy of criticism.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I know what you mean anon.. Most of the posts are strictly critical of JC prices. I'm not happy about $50 tees either! But some feel the need to take their opinion that extra step and insult people who choose to buy X item

    ReplyDelete
  55. ^That's true & I don't agree with doing that - live and let live.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Gaby, I am interested in your skirt which you posted about in the Seek and Find post! Please e-mail me before you return it, if you still have it :)

    emilyeeg at gmail.com

That trench in that photo IS amazing. I've never wanted a trench before... until now!!!

About the ringspun tees... I absolutely love them, but I have 2 from this past fall that have gotten holes in them and been destroyed after very gently hand washing them one time. I hope they have made this spring's tees a bit more damage resistant!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Also... look at how HUGE the double strand elephant necklace looks in that picture. I've had my eye on it for a while but I don't think I want it if the elephant is that large. It's a bit overwhelming.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Psst, it's sneek "peek," not sneak "peak." LOVE the blog!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Shannon, I hear you, and I'm surprised you take those posters seriously. It's usually one or two posters posing as numerous anons in order to make it appear that many agree with them.

Jealousy and insecurity often take indirect routes in expressing their presence. It's very common nowadays to present 'having less' as some sort of superiority of character. You know....the 'Noble Poor Person' vs. the 'Evil Yuppie'. There will always be posters masking their insecurities and attempting to make themselves appear 'better than' by equating their smaller bank accounts with moral superiority. It's really just another form of snobbery, and a way to seek status without actually having accomplished anything.

    ReplyDelete
  60. ileila: No that is not it, I believe that one is the Cotton Cashmere Shawl Cardi. Thanks anyway.

I love the Ringspun tees and I hate to pay $50.00 for one, however I have noticed they are not lasting like the ones from past seasons. I would also like to see JC offer a more substantial tee.

    ReplyDelete
  61. did anyone see the chiffon trim tee in there store (for reference page 38 of the new catalog)? thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Argyle,

I find lots of cute tees at stores in the U.K. Dorothy Perkins does ship to the US. I also get name brand logo: Disney, etc. (Not the knockoffs) at New Look for $6-12 that are super nice quality. They wear so well and are medium weight which I think is ideal. I also shop Peacocks. As far as the US I get nice tees at JJill, formfitting ones at LLBean (they have really restyled their line--great body skimming styles that have a super warranty) Also bought several solid amazing tees at Talbots with a cute square neckline. And yes, I admit, I bought some great tees at Wal-mart with logos on them. They fit really well and wear well--from the junior section. I buy tees by the ton and I know there are other places I am missing. Just start looking and keep looking...

And by the way, I am not missing the point on JCrews tissue tees. I own several from years ago when the quality was SUPER; now the price is high and the do not wear well. Lots of post on holes and hand washing with holes! No thanks until JCrew brings back quality. (And by the way--I only posted one other time today)

    Good luck looking for tees...

    ReplyDelete
  63. Anony@2:09

I think you are way over thinking a simple tee complaint. Poor quality and high prices are the main issue. Not jealous here--esp. of people with holey tees or designs rubbing off in the wash!

I buy lots and spend a great deal of money at JCrew...not that it is any of your business...but I look for quality AND unique pieces.

I have shopped with JCrew for 7 years and I look carefully for quality first and foremost as I have a closet FULL Of 90% JCrew items from current and past years. I don't buy disposable garments that I only can wear for one season or a few times for that matter....

    ReplyDelete
  64. Sorry if this is a dumb question...where did people get the new catalog? I haven't seen it in my mailbox yet, and haven't had time to go to the B&M. Do they have them there, in the stores?

FFM: did they say which day this week the jewelry and such will be in? I might try and wait until after then so I can see it all at once. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Feather weight tees (of xhi*** brand?) I bought from target sleepwear section are much better than jcrew's. The bright color on them has not faded much after two years of frequent wear. Also I never need to worry about holes during wear or wash of them. Occasionally, I resell jcrew clothes on ebay, but I will never sell jcrew feather weight tees. Too much work on inspection and too much worry on quality.

Ringspun is better than featherweight quality wise. To me, slub-cotton is the best.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hi Smarty! I have heard that the men's arrivals and jewelry will both be out tomorrow, but haven't confirmed...seems to vary by store. Have you called your local B&M or are you still out of town?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Argyle,

P.S. I also found the cutest graphic babydoll style (form fitting) tee at Cracker Barrel of all places...Just keep your eyes peeled wherever you go...this one had Bewitched on it just like the Main page on TV with little crystals even. It is so cute and fun to wear! Slightly distressed and only $9.99

    ReplyDelete
  68. Anon at 1:58 PM: Great catch! Thanks for letting me know. ;) I have gone ahead and updated the post. :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. Hi FFM! Flying home today, so might have to hit the B&M tomorrow! Everyone's pics have me very excited to see the new goodies :) I tried to convince my hubby to drive me to the store in Destin while we were here, but no luck!

I just emailed my PS so hopefully she will confirm that tomorrow is the day everything will be out.

What did you get from the new line?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Help! I'm getting this message when I try to go to jcrew.com: "Forbidden You don't have permission to access /index.jsp on this server.:

I've tried different browsers, clearing my cookies, etc. I started getting the message when I tried to add like 300 items to my basket (long story). I think this might be some security thing...I think jcrew.com has locked my ip out! Anyone know how to fix it??

    ReplyDelete
  71. Anon at 2:09, in denouncing the snobbery of the t-shirt price complainers, you managed to come across as WAY more snobby yourself. Just because they won't pay $50 for a t-shirt doesn't make them 'have-nots'!

Having said that, I agree with what others have said. We each, I'm sure, have items we're willing to pay more/less for...

    ReplyDelete
  72. No one has a problem with your bitching about expensive Ts or your 7.00 T deals. Shannon was rightly complaining about people that act like their 7.00 makes them Mother Theresa. I agree with 2:09.

    ReplyDelete
  73. FYI - I inquired about other colors in the Library Shawl Cardi my SA told me that it is a retail only item & only comes in those 2 colors.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Snarkers,

I agree with you completely. Nice call.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Can anyone who already has the new February catalog scan and email it to Alexis so she can post it?

    ReplyDelete
  76. would love to see the new catalog:)

    ReplyDelete
  77. Yay! Thanks Jo! I still cannot wait to see it online too but this will be a nice sneak peek!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I just got the Feb. catalogue this afternoon, just looking through it now.

    ReplyDelete
  79. yay, can't wait! thank you jo. :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. Thanks Jo for scanning I cannot wait to see it!

    ReplyDelete
  81. A big "thanks!" to Jo who shared several images of the new catalog which can be seen in this post.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Thanks, Jo! I'm so excited to see the new catalogue and was hoping someone would scan it:)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Thanks Jo! It is so nice of you to share. I can't wait to see all of the items.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I got the anne cami in the BRE color (light aqua/spearmint), the liberty shirt in the light pewter (really more an ivory/peweter combo with black outlined flowers). I got the yellow/grey pencil skirt but I think I will return as it's too much yellow.

Still looking for the rosette tee. None to be found in CA.

Is there a picture of the library shawl cardigan that people are talking about?

    ReplyDelete
  85. OK-had no clue there were blogs about J.Crew! I am in heaven. So jealous-my nearest store is 2 hours away!!! Just got a long puffer in the mail from them (because it is too cold in Iowa!!)and have the italian graphic tweed pant and metallic houndstooth Marie jacket on it's way. Thank you for the ICING code!! I will be back often to read what wonderful things you ladies have to say. :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. Thanks to Shannon-

I absolutely prefer tissue tees. I think the chiffon tees are worth $48 and if you show me a $7 tee that is as soft, with such beautiful, unique detailing, well then you have discovered a store I have not.
And I have had about 2 j.crew tees with holes in the past three years. One could have definitely been attributed to my cat so no harm, no foul.

I constantly get confused here...do people like J.Crew or not? Cause I sure see more "nothing I'd pay full price for..." and "less quality" comments" than I do "yay for J.Crew"

And Alexis- what you are trying to do is amazing and I appreciate you for it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. anon 10:52: I guess I would say to you this is a blog for people who like j.crew, but it's not like it's a blind faith. When items are crappily made - and look back through posts to see just how many complaints there have been about falling-apart tissue tees and lousy cashmere - then complaints are fully warranted.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Praise for J Crew is given very frequently on this blog as well as the negative concerning quality and high prices which are warranted as the other anon pointed out. There is incessant complaining however about the lack of codes, % of codes, shipping, and the educators discount.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I prefer the featherweight / tissue tees, too. I use them exclusively as layering pieces and I like that the ones from J.Crew are soft, keep me warm without adding a lot of bulk and come in bright colors to peek out from underneath my sweaters.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Shannon it's a bit silly to take an anonymous post online personally...the Internet is a big bathroom wall and whatever tone of voice you are hearing is in your own head. BTW it's "paid" not "payed."

    ReplyDelete
  91. Sorry about the typo.
I wasn't taking anything personally, just posting that the attitude gets annoying

    ReplyDelete

And now back to J.Crew! :)
