Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of what's left in the winter sale or to see some new Spring/ Resort arrivals in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I am in search of a silk-ribbon chain link necklace. My B&M said they sold all of theirs already. I wasn't a fan at first, but I saw it on a woman today and really liked it.

  7. Do they charge you shipping when you buy from other states? My San Diego store doesn't have good deals...

    ReplyDelete
  8. Anon @ 1:08: They do, unless it's full price and then I think it's waived. The store shipping costs are as bad as the website's, unfortunately.

I'm so bummed they closed the Horton Plaza store; at least then we had two to choose between. Not only that, but then they made the Fashion store half it's original size when Anthro came in! Maybe someday we'll get another, bigger store. For now, it's drives to South Coast...

Has anyone had quality issues or any thoughts on the Mod circles bracelet
    (item 95462)?

I haven't seen it in real life, and don't know if this piece is huge or not. I have skinny bony wrists, and don't want to look silly with this piece.

  10. Online is final sale but no longer in the stores. So one thing I wondered is, if something is on sale in the store but not in your size and you still want it, will ordering it from the red phone make it final sale? Just curious!

What items did you purchase that came with stains? More information, Please:)

    Thanks. (been there too)

  12. I won't be going. All of the winter merchandise is gone and it seems way too cold to go out and buy Spring clothes I won't be able to wear for at least two months. I am awaiting more Spring releases. I do like the crewneck merino cardigan that is online but I can wait for it. It's my slow time of the year for being J.Crew obsessed.

  13. Off Topic: As some of you might have noticed, prices got lowered in the final sale section. {yey!}

  15. O/T: I remember reading sometime ago on this blog people had trouble with mailing mutliple orders back to JC in 1 box. I have to return some items, I do not live near a store and I am trying to save shipping costs. Has anyone done this? Did JC credit you back for all the orders that were returned?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hi Virginia! I did see some lower prices for a few items (like the salina ballet flats from $79.99 to $49.99.

But here is the catch that I just noticed right now- the price did NOT change on the sale page- but did change on the item page. Sneaky J.Crew, very sneaky (but at least in a good way!) ;)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Alexis,
Thanks. I need some ballet flats in a size 11 and is truely need not want. My foot changed in size after baby...I don't have much left that fits even a year later....

Alexis, Sorry I didn't get to finish my sentence. Anyway, I just ordered a pair of sale flats that were cheaper when I clicked on them. Metallic bow ones are $109 or something like that but when I clicked on them they were $54 so I hope I get them. CS said LOW stock so they might be cancelled. Wish I could get to a TJMaxx but not in the snow with baby. Not going out!

  23. I went to the Rockfellar store yesterday and bought the nicky skirt in navy and charcoal. They are on sale for $39.99, same price online. It seems to get wrinkled up easily. I am contemplating if I should just keep one. For those who has the skirt, is it easy to care for? Which color is more versatile?

Also, the Ringspun cotton rosette tee in shell seems to be sold out. I don't see any but there is plenty in natural.

  24. Lexington KY store had the cutest purses! They were the Canvas Boardwalk City Tote in the Natural color, but with patent leather handles. One had dusty pink handles, one head sour lemon handles. They were the same price as the ones with regular leather handles. So cute!

Also, Twiga, They had a black Silk Ribbon Chain Link necklace a few days ago. Very very cute! If you get it, post pictures so we can all see!!

  25. I bought the tulip candy tee online this morning for $9.99 and that was pretty much all I had on my "list" until spring stuff goes on sale.

I still have a couple of summer 2008 things on my wish list if they ever pop back up at the high discounted price they have on the website, but that is pretty unlikely at this point. So, I think I'm pretty much done for a while.

I'll still stalk my items just "in case" and if the Lea gets discounted further, I might try one of those.

I believe is it another one of JCrew's oranges.
I almost bought it but then went with the ivory/black dot one that came on sale yesterday! If the orange/cerise one goes down more in price I may get it but I think it is pretty bright. That is why it is on sale.

Forecast? Freezing. Up to 30% off select women's sweaters. In stores and online.‏

    ReplyDelete
  37. And it looks like the Jackie cardi and shell are both reduced. The price is not in red but it does end in .50 so perhaps is a promo and not permanent reduction.

I guess J.Crew's price points are still a bit too high. Quelle surprise.

  40. QUESTION ABOUT THE MELON COLOR...

I haven't purchased a sweater yet in this because I thought I didn't NEED it. However, now that I have the candy tee in Blade with the orangish licorice design, I'm thinking the melon color would go really well with that. Any thoughts? I haven't seen the melon color in person.

  42. God willing I'll be in a JCrew store this weekend. There is a b&m relatively close that I haven't been to yet. I want to see it and compare it to the b&m I regularly go to. Might be bigger, more selections, more to select from come sale time ... I must know these things! :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Probably, to buy some Jackie cardis :) It's about time to stock up on these basics again. Just ordered the lavender b/c that color isn't available online, going to the B&M to see what colors they have.

  46. People, I have called twice this week, once on Wednesday and once this morning, to get price adjustments on spring items. The Wendy skirt in pink is now a lower price, as it the denim pencil skirt. Both times the CS were very nice and helpful. Anyway, I would not thouht to have checked on the pencil skirt until I read this post; I guess it just went on promo today, so I am glad I checked in as it is almost a $30 difference!

I have the above items and a few others arriving today and I will have reviwes up on my blog this weekend!

  47. Won't be visiting a store this weekend, but Mr. UPS man is due to deliver the Phoebe jacket to me this evening. In the meantime, I'm off to work, and since it's actually above freezing here today, and there's a big yellow circle in the sky that if, memory serves, I think just might be the sun, I'm wearing my captivating cascading flowers boucle astrid jacket :-)

  48. Hi Ladies! OT, but I just wanted to give my thumbs up the Rosette Tee in natural.

I normally wear a small tall or small in J Crew dress shirts, and medium in JC tees, due to broad shoulders. This tee is tts, and gives me a nice sleek look without being too tight. It ends up being relaxed witha flattering drape in the tummy area.

The first thing that struck me is how versatile the tee is going to be. It is beautiful and different without being over the top. The neckline is very flattering and the scoop leaves a nice amount of room for a necklace or two. The color is peachy, and looks nice on my pale skin, but would look incredible on someone with a nice tan. It is definitely see through on me.

I tried it on with a few blazers, and it instantly pulled them together and gave them that casual but a little dressy look a lot of us are going for. Now I want the one in shell--we'll see!

  49. Hi! If anyone is curious about the silk ribbon necklace IRL, I have posted 2 pics of it on my blog. The website says it can be worn 3 ways but imo it only looks right one way. If anyone has other suggestions that'd be great :)

  50. ooh, I like the ribbon necklace. I've been admiring it in champagne. Its lovely on you (as are the bangs!). But i have no idea how else you would wear it!Is it long enough to circle twice? Does it look funny with the bow in the middle vs. to the side?

  55. I received my Slub Silk Penelope dress today ($285, #11833) in size 0 and 2 in the slate. I love this dress after seeing it posted/discussed here and in several magazines. It's touted as a bridesmaid dress but it's versatile. I want to share my review here because it's a catalog/J.Crew.com only item.

The style and fabric are beautiful and I wish it fit better. I so want this to work, hence I ordered it full price.

Sizing: This is one dress that needs sizing up. I'm a 34B and veer between a 0 and 2 in JC jackets and dresses but this is the first time a size 2 dress is tight around the waist and too loose in the armpit. I can fit an entire hand in the armpit area I am a 34-25-35 If I take a 4, the waist may fit better but I'd need the armpit taken in.

The flower: So pretty but again, this is another droopy flower. Not sure if any amount of starch will help prop up the chiffony fabric flower. The other problem is that unless the droopy flower Astrid, there's nowhere to pin up the flower because this dress has a halter neck. There are three hidden buttons on the halter neck just above the flower, which is a nice size despite being droppy.

Other details: The halter collar is fantastic and really makes this dress special. It really plays up my arms and shoulders nicely. The pleats on the chest area makes me bustier (a good thing) but also means loose material closer to the waist - almost like my girls were hanging down there despite wearing a good supportive strapless bra to try this on. I have nice abs and a flat tummy, but the dress (with a few big pleats under the waistband) also adds to the illusion of a enlarged tummy area. The same pleats at the bum area also make my bum look bigger(not that I mind - cos I have not much of a bum unfortunately).

The length is good. I'm 5'4" and it hits very slightly below the knee. The skirt is slight-A-line as described on the website.

The fabric is quite nice, standard for slub silk but not very substantial. The slubs are not very widespread, which may be a bad or good thing - depending on your preference. The dress is fully lined. As a result of the thin fabric, the hemming marks show which takes this dress down a notch.

Inventory is low. CS is not sure if there's a new shipment. When I ordered the dress last week, there fewer than 10 left in the 0 and 4. It looks like I can't keep the dress even if I want to. It's such a pretty dress - hope some of you have better luck with it.
Sorry for the long post but HTH!

    - Viv

I have a Jackie in Melon and I love it. I think it is more pink then orange if that makes sense. It's kind of reminds me of a salmon color.

Shannon another blogger created a flickr group. I actually uploaded some pics of me in the Melon Jackie. The pics make the cardi look orange but it is more on the pink side IRL.

  60. t.t,

whoaa, huge bow! :) I like it tied to the side, and I actually dig the tied in the back, too.... which could be really nice with an updo and a fancy dress (but maybe add more necklaces for more visual appeal in the front).

    ReplyDelete
  61. I see a lot of love for the chiffon flower tee but I still think the tee is not at all flattering.

Please don't misunderstand, I'm not saying the gals in the pics are not looking good, the tee just does nothing but add thickness to the waist. Even under a cardi.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I agree that the rosette tee adds to bulk at the waist. If you're lucky and have a small waist and flat tummy, you can get away with it. If not, it makes sausage rolls out of your midsection.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I personally like the sunbleached flower tee better than the chiffon roses. I stood at the counter at Jcrew for long moments trying to decide between the two. I'm glad I got the sunbleached...it's so pretty!

  64. I was at the Chestnut Hill, MA store yesterday. Lots of Portland cardigans in various colors, marked at 69.99, but they'll price match. I got a couple of the Henna t-shirts (navy/white, and bright blue/green). They had a bunch of Ingrid peep-toe heels for 99.99 I think. Some cashmere--mostly in Tangelo (which looks wonderful on Slastena, but not on me!). No % off. :(

I'm back in CT this weekend, so I'm going to take a trip to the Vernon TJMaxx to see if I can get some shoes. Will post back if I found anything. :)

  65. hmmm, you all are good necklace commenters. Could someone have a quick peek on my site (about 3 posts in). I posted some photos of my new boucle scarf coat - I can't decide whether or not to keep it. Was FS price but the invoice wasn't marked FS!!!

  66. Hi all,

I hope to go to a B&M this weekend to see some of the new styles IRL. Most esp the new sweaters that are being offered at 30% off as suggested by the latest email.

Oh & while I'm on that subject- has any JCA purchased the Merino Pinwheel cardigan, #1145, yet? I like the retro / art deco look it has onsite, esp the pewter grey. That said, I'm a little worried that it might be "fussy" or overly ornamental-- as in "Why do the bows need to be on the back of the neckline?" I have a merino cardigan from several years back that has a lovely detail of glass beading down the front. I get a lot of compliments & would like to buy another sweater with that vintage style.

Any observations would be most appreciated.

    TIA,

    Heather:D

  67. I love my chiffon rosette t! I am slim with a small waist, and in good shape. On me, it adds no bulk. I guess if someone has 'bulk' in the midsection, anything lightweight and fitted is going to showcase that.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I also agree that the Rosette tee adds bulk to the waist unlike any other fitted lightweight tee, because of the flowers sticking out.

    ReplyDelete
  69. So is the 30% off sale gone in all stores?

  70. had a chance to stop by the Carmel by the Sea store yesterday, lots of flats and heels (new suede ones and ingrid fabric) as well as aubrey ottomans and some cashmere cardigans for 99$. I also saw the giraffe print shorts for 39.99 in all sizes. i tried them on and found that you have to size up on 'em for a comfy fit..i didn't buy one though since I won't be wearing shorts until june and i was pretty disappointed at the current sale section. i guess i've been too spoiled with winter stuff...

anyway i miss this week's exchange,

have a sequin onyx dress in a size 2 that is too big on me. 55$ shipped

also my mom's marie coat in majestic purple in 0P didn't work out either..too big on her on the hips..75$ shipped.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Heather D,

Some of the detail on the merino pinwheel sweater looked cheap to me. Esp. the tulle (sp?) pieces that are fraying/unfinished. Doesn't look to wear well. I was really disappointed when I saw this sweater in person as I really wanted it.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Anony@12:27

Wow, so happy you have a slim figure.

I am 5'10" and weigh 133 lbs. and I am thin but whatever "weight" I do carry likes to be at my waist. I think the rose tee looked awful on me and I wear a size 6 in JCrew pants so I don't think weight is an issue.

Try being a little kinder next time. Yes, it is possible.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Thanks for all the comments on the necklace! The bow is huge, but it's my fault because I was playing around with it and actually untied it completely. When I tied it back myself it seemed floppier. I wish I had left it the way it was when I first bought it from the store! It's not long enough to circle around twice. The bow I think is too big to be worn in the middle/front. Just a note, when I was at the store I noticed some were more frayed than others. If you decide to purchase one, inspect it for fraying first :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. I know tend to carry my "bulk" in my midwaist (and thighs!), but IMO, I didn't think the comment from Anon @ 12:27 was rude/meant to be rude. I appreciate this type of info since I was thinking of purchasing this top but was worried about this very issue. The problem with emails/commenting on blogs is that we can't see a person's face or hear their voice, so sometime things get read into a message that the sender did not intend to convey.

  77. I tried the "boiling water" treatment suggested by a JCA's PS here last week and it worked great on the rosette tee. The flowers don't stick out that much now, and the tee is much fitted on my waist. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Hi! 12:27 reporting for duty. No, I didn't mean to be snarky. However, I am very pragmatic and direct, and stick by what I said. If it doesn't work on you-that's cool, but the rosettes on the tee I have are nearly flat, so I don't understand the bulk issue at all. I think people get oversensitive, but it's good to hear a wide variety of opinions from all different body types.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I have a flat tummy but the rosette tee makes me look thicker in the waist compared to other JC plain tees. So I think it's the tee, not me. I'll try the boiling water treatment but where's the info? Does anyone have a link? TIA!

  80. The chiffon tee add thickness on the model. It likely won't make you look fat, but it doesn't make you look slimmer.

  82. I have a couple of "fit" questions for you ladies. Do the Victoria cami and washed ruffle-collar trench (aka Keegan) run true-to-size? I typically wear a 4 in jackets/coats. I have the elizabeth cami in an XS and the lydia cami in a 2.

    Thanks for your help!

  83. Hi All,

I've been considering getting the Cashmere Cabin Popover (ideally during the next promotion) but have not been able to see the actual sweater in stores (catalog/online only). Does anyone own a similar sweater, and knows whether it pills easily? The SA I spoke to said that all cashmere pills at some point. I now own last year's shrunken cashmere shawl cardigan courtesy of the weekly exchange which has some pilling on the sleeves after only 2-3 wears, and don't want to pay full price for something that wears so easily.

I'm wondering whether it would make more $ sense to go with the French Terry Yoga Pullover which is in a similar style and currently in FS for a quarter of the price. What do you girls think? Would the French Terry be too casual for work, should I get the Cabin Popover instead?

    Thanks, I appreciate your advice!

    ReplyDelete
  84. The Victoria is cut slimmer than the Lydia. If you're a 2 in the Lydia, you'd probably need a 4 for the Victoria unless the Lydia was loose on you. I returned the Elizabeth in XS and Lydia in 0 because it was just too big. I have the victoria in 0. HTH!

  90. Quick fit question:
I just got my Stephanie jersey dress (size M) and the navy rosette empire-waist shift dress (can't recall the exact name - size M as well) and found that they were both WAY too big! I'm usually a size medium but both these dresses were far too large, especially in the armpits, and made me suspect that they weren't even the right size even though they were marked "medium". 97. I agree - I wear a 27 jean and have a size 4 trouser jean that is really big on me. They do come in handy for my 'winter padding days' though!!
I see no extra bulk on my rosette tank, I think a larger bustline would offset perceived thickness.

  98. Hello--I am not sure where to post this, so I am just going with the most recent post on this blog. I received the fresco cardigan yesterday (yep, I paid full price, minus 15% teacher) and took some pics and did a quick review of it on my blog. So if any of you want to purchase it, take a look. In general, I am pleased by my decision, and I would pay full price again, so there are no regrets about not waiting for final sale or whatever. I did not review how it really fit on me, so if you want to know how it looks on a real person in real life, you will have to wait (or try it on yourself this weekend at a store--there I made it work for this post's topic).

To get to the review (can't do html stuff...so sue me...laugh), click on my name, click on my blog's name, then look for the February 6the entry on the Fresco cardigan.

Enjoy and I hope this helps someone.

  99. Hi All,

Need some advice on the fit of the High-heel Flare jean. I usually take a 6 or a P8 in the favorite fit trouser and matchstick cords. Do you all think that the 29 would fit? Do they 'bag in the butt' after you have them on for a bit?
Any feed back will be appreciated. Thank you,

(I really love this blog.) Thanks so much Alexis and to all of us JCrew Aficionadas.

I don't understand why some of the new arrivals go on sale so quickly and other stay at full price forever!

  102. RE: Fresco sweater, I would never pay full price for a sweater whose pattern doesn't match..J Crew is getting worse and worse in their quality. Full price is not necessary for this sweater-it will be on sale.

  104. Thanks for the sizing info on the matchsticks compared to the trouser jean. I'm a 27 in matchsticks so will go with the 4 in the trouser jeans. I like my trouser jeans loose and low-slung, like the BF chinos.

I have a summer weight pair from a previous year and love the look of the newer, faded style.

  105. 1:38-where did she say rich pretty or smart? All she did was describe her physique in relation to the garment, which is one reason we're all here--to figure out if something might fit us.

I believe many, if not most, of the postings about bulk are coming from 1-3 people, ( it's impossible for me to believe that this large 'group' of people complaining about bulk have all tried it on AND are all here posting at the same time, in the same writing style-sorry) who is judging it from the catalog picture, because the rosettes are pretty flat in real life.

I also think there are people that are angry about its price, and that is playing a factor in their feelings about it.

  107. Anon @ 1:51 - if you paid full price you can get an adjustment. Policy on their website is stated as this:

    price adjustment

J.Crew gladly honors a one-time price adjustment on full-price merchandise within seven days of the retail purchase or mail order ship date if accompanied by the original receipt. Items not purchased at full price are ineligible for price adjustments.

You can call CS to ask for the adjustment.

  108. DinaGideon, thanks for the photos of the Fresco cardigan. I was all excited thinking I would see how it looked on you, especially given your fair complexion. Perhaps you are fair due to the time of year and maybe will tan in the summer. I'm very fair so concerned this cardi will wash me out.

It looks very pretty, although I do like to button them up so would want perfect alignment. I have a couple of cotton argyle cardis from last year and they line up perfectly. I think I order every argyle piece made of cotton from J.Crew. I get some snide remarks here and there about wearing a lot of argyle but it's just so me so I don't care.

  117. Hi again,

Thanks to Anon 12:52 & Suilove.

There are 2 B&Ms that are about the same drive for me, Carmel & Valley Fair (San Jose). I had planned on going to Carmel this weekend because they stock more variety - they have just women's items. I had hoped they might have the Pinwheel cardigan there. However, if the sale section is not so great & the sweater is less than impressive (as Anon 12:52 suggested) it makes sense to go over to SJ. Dear hubby can be persuaded to go because there's a card room nearby:)

Still... I wish the sweater had been a better prospect. I would love to have a cedar chest full of playful / retro sweaters. Unfortunately, they seem to have been suffering from "looks great in the catalogue - not so much IRL" syndrome. **SIGH***

Well, it does help keep my budget. Thanks for the info JCAs!

    Good luck shopping,

    Heather:D

  118. Dinagideon: Regarding sweater print not lining up when buttoned, I just looked at my
    Nautical Net Cardigan
with the rope print on it from Summer 2007 (item 84142), and the print does not line up on this sweater either. A bit less noticeable on the rope sweater though. I don't wear mine buttoned up either so this does not bother me.

  124. RE sizing of trouser jeans:

They definitely run big. I wear an 8 in all JCrew pants and need a 6 in these.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I just received...

-the Tissue rolling-ruffles tank item 12267 in Dark Charcoal and like it. I sized down to a XS and it looks better 'fitted' instead of full as shown on the model. FFM models it perfectly on her blog. This is a keeper - not sure why though. The ruffles are just 'fun'!

-the Sun bleached appliqué tee item 15897, Weathered Stone, size Small. I could get this in a Medium too if I wanted it looser in the abdomen. I really love the color of the tshirt. One issue is it has the pucker on one of the shoulders like some of the other tee's. I can live with it if I get it on sale. Also, the flowers do not have very many stitches holding them on, and they are already fraying. The flowers are light blue. I imagine maybe this tee is meant to look delicately distressed (?) over time. I wish it was made better since it's such a pretty shirt.

-Slub cotton crossover V-neck tee, item 12669, Blue Jasmine, size Small: the color blue does not blow me away like the color on the website. Also would need to size down to XS but it might be too small in the shoulders. This v-neck goes past bra and is open - definitely needs a cami/tank. Maybe it's one for the fuller-up-top ladies. Sadly it's also full in the body. Destination: final sale soon

-Solid ruched bandeau tank, item 10236, Size 6, Tawny Olive: There is no hidden underwire in this suit - contrary to the site's description. There is a little boning on each side but none underneath. Also, it is not full coverage on the rear - it kept sliding up the sides. It's not too small and I own other JC suits. This one just doesn't have the elasticity of my other suits.

I was the Anony that posted earlier about the pinwheel sweater. I wanted to give you my honest opinion but the detailing might not bother you...I MIGHT consider it on a deeper discount but I think there will be better sweaters to pick from with unique detailing...

  127. I just received the Saturday Pants very soft but I would call it a summerweight pant, I glad I got some money back on these today went they went on promo. You also have to size up like ffm, lynzeroo said they run small.

The Ringspun Tees (Painter Tees)$34.00 are going back, they are so sheer compared to previous seasons you can see the outline of my bra, only the Aqua Green is not see through.

My god the quality is going down at JC, no wonder they are lowering their prices. This is the ist time that I am sending back 70% of my items, the styling is good but the workmanship is poor.

  128. Foxeee,

I think that we may be similar in size.

I always wear a 6 in JCrew trousers, and I take a 28 in the High Heel Flares. (I LOVE these jeans.) If you are closer to an 8 than a 6, you might want to go with a 29... (I wear a 29 in cord matchsticks, and a 28 or 29 in the denim ones depending on the fabric of the particular wash)... I had to go with the smaller size in this style. They do not bag in the butt. They are fitted through the body, down the thigh and end in a flare/trouser leg. (more trouser than flare at the bottom) I hope this helps...

  133. Hi all...

bad quality...you know I am usually more frustrated when I have a clothing issue, but the print on the fresco cardigan isn't making me upset at all! however, that said, I totally understand how other people would be which is why I mentioned that in my review...

anon @2:13...I will be wearing it soon, promise! I think it will look nice right now with darker lime green cami under it, but during the summer, when I am a bit more tan (not much, though, I believe in spf 70), I bet I could rock a pink or cream cami instead...

IRL...sounds like we are two peas in a pod, not buttoning up our cardigans! :) Thanks for showing us it has happened before!

  137. Question for those who return online/catalog items. When you request a replacement item, different than the item you ordered, does it usually ship fairly quickly? Can you see the returns and new shipments as a new order on your J.Crew account online? (Not the credit card account, the website account.)

The brown is amazing, I love the stones. It is not a good color for me but I just want to hold and play with the stones, I don't care if I ever wear it. Crazy, I know. I'm sure I'll try to find something that will go with them. Maybe an ivory turtleneck or something....

  140. JenG,

Thank you so much for the sizing advice. I think I'll go for the 28. I purchased the Trouser jeans a while back in a 6 and they are HUGE on me and bag out even more after I wear them for a bit. I've tried shrinking them by washing in HOT water and drying the daylights out of them,,,but to no avail.

    Thank again, Foxeee

  141. UPS just dropped off the following items:

Shimmy dress - Now I know how it got its name. You have to kind of shimmy in and out of it if you have a larger bust because it is fitted on top. ;) Beautiful dress with or without the sash. It's a little on the short side (I'm 5'10") but that's fine considering the lightness of fabric, if that makes sense. The shortness gives it a more girlish look. Perfect for spring/summer.

Buttery twill cargos - I have these in the dark slate and today they arrived in warm stone. I like the pants but the garish gold buttons on the legs for the cargo tabs have got to go. I'll replace with something a little more subdued. The warm stone seem to have a bit more flare than the slate pair, but it's really cute and fits with the casual style.

Cotton-taffeta Nicky skirt in navy. This is another cute skirt for spring, although I can begin wearing it now with navy tights and shoes. This item should be fresh and cool on hot days and could be dressed up or down. I tried it with my white Jack Purcell sneakers and it looked fun and funky. It's short but almost everything except the pencil skirts are short on me.

Francie skirt - I had this in dark peony and now I have it in heather majestic purple as well. I take back what I said about all the skirts being short as Francie is almost as long as the pencils. I like the swingy flare of this skirt. It is really flattering and the felt is very soft.

Double-serge pencil skirt in bronzed ochre - I was missing this color and now I have them all. Classic, quality and style all wrapped up in beautiful colors. A wonderful boost to my wardrobe this fall/winter season.

Solid silk tunic in guava - The silk crepe is unbelievably buttery soft, it is really fine. I love this color but it does nothing for me so I will probably return or exchange it for navy or ivory. I've got to stop wishing certain colors would magically look good on me and go with what I know works. Can't blame a gal for trying the first few times but I'm way past that and keep going back again. {:-(

Toothpick jeans - These fit like a glove but I'm not sure I like the super dark wash. I have light furniture in the main sitting room and in my home office so they might be a problem. Or I could just take them off when I'm in the house. Oh yes, I'll remember to do that every time...

Crackle-metallic Mary Janes in sherbet - I love, love, love these sexy shoes. I have a shoe fetish although prefer full leather so don't buy many from J.Crew since they went to the plastic lining/sole. I thought these would be fun and I'd ignore the plastic parts just this once. They came with a dust bag, which is a nice touch. I do love pink and these shoes look equally great with jeans, suits or a fun skirt.

Metallic skinny belts in sherbet and tidepool. These belts are just fun and I love the touch of color. They are a little on the large side but I have a belt punch that I bought at a saddlery shop so I'll just punch in a few new holes.

Jackie cardigan and shell - This is my eight Jackie and sixth time buying the set. Love these items together or separately and add a new one or two every season. I sometimes wear the shell as a vest over a blouse in the winter months. I wore one with the skinny patent leather belt around the waist a couple weeks ago and it looked very current.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to share my mini reviews.

  146. Re: the merino pinwheel cardigan -- I got this in the pewter and I love it. I'm usually not one for embellishments but this one is really nice. The sweater does come with a tag saying that the pinwheels will fray a bit and add to its "vintage look" or some such thing, but for now I'm just trying to protect it best I can :) They're very subtle and cute, IMO.

Re: the stone bead necklaces. The brown is the only one that has the dimensionality because it is made of tiger's eye which is a pretty unusual stone, the others all look like some kind of quartz. That said I have the green and the new pink color and love them both. The pink is very subtle but will go great with this season's palette, and the ribbon being a little darker makes it a nice pop of color.

Now, a question! Speaking of pink, what do you all think of the faille maisey jacket in the dusty rose? I'm loving the dusty rose in general, but somehow this jacket looks like an old lady suiting jacket, if you know what I mean? Do you think it's just an unfortunate picture, or do you think the color just doesn't work for the jacket? TIA!!!

    - Beaded Shore tunics, item 11316, were $19.99. Website says these are internet only but I'm sure it was these tops/coverups at the b&m.

    - Wendy skirts are $59 (I think - @ most $20 less than original price). The sign was over top all the skirts so it's difficult to tell whether or not this includes the retro-chambray.

    - The giraffe shorts were on sale but I didn't get a look at the price. I only saw one pair. (They feel quite stiff, like canvas.)

    - Travel Trench is $135 and there was quite a selection in navy.

Add'l tee's w/shiny metallic like print on them but nothing to write home about.

Active mall, dead JCrew store. Martin & Osa had more customers but not what I'd describe as busy. Regarding M&O, someone recommended snakeskin shoes in another post for a % off $45.00. I don't think they're worth it. The 'snakeskin' was peeling and the heels were peeling back from the sole in some spots. This is the first time I've checked out M&O in person and I'm sticking with JCrew. Quality did not seem even close. In all fairness, I did not try anything on and only browsed for about ten mins.

    Happy shopping this weekend!

  166. I just lost my resolve, broke down and ordered on jcrew.com. So excited to -hopefully- be getting my lilly turtleneck, alpaca shawl collar cardi, and brushed gold lame skirt ... all for what less than i was going to pay before they were cancelled on me! I'll be sitting in front of my computer, fingers crossed until I see my UPS man. But I am excited for now!!!
Other than that, I'm not going to the B&M this weekend. I might try a TJMAXX, but the last one I went to had nada.

  167. I will not visit JCrew this weekend... it's only worth it when there's an extra percent off sale. I might go to another TJ Maxx though.

Does anyone live in the Rochester, NY area? There's a really awesome TX maxx/Homegoods store that and I am wondering if they have JCrew stuff. I bet they do and I am wishing I still lived up there!!!

  168. In Canandaigua.. that's where that awesome TJ maxx is.

  169. At the sake of sounding like a broken record, still looking for the Studio Ball Skirt in a size 6 or up. I've pretty much called all the stores that carry collection items and they have sold out in the skirt. If anyone happens to come across it or has tired of their own, please let me know.

  170. Towson Too -- I don't think the chambray Wendy is on sale. Still regular price of $78 on the web. But who knows what the b&ms are doing.

  171. I went to a JCrew factory store today and found a few good finds...hopefully I am making a JCA's day right now...

I know there is a certain JCA that posts about a 'starfish'print. I found a mini skirt in the pink starfish print from the JCrew store (not factory). It is a size 8 and the tag says "dancing starfish" summer 07. I paid $9.97, originally $69.50. JCA...email me if you want this...if not I'll take it back.

I also found a whole stack of MADEWELL jeans!! Too small for me but I put 2 pairs on hold at the store in case somebody wants them. A size 26 and 27. They are very dark wash and are flared. On sale for $23.98 each! There was a stack of about 6 pairs of size 26 & 27 still left over...
I also found a COLLECTION ITEM! A size 2 skirt from Jcrew store. It is the Alpine Holiday skirt. On sale for $59.98..only one left!
The jeans and skirt are on hold only until the end of today. The store is in Limerick, PA and the phone # is 610-323-5719. They will ship to you and they are hold under 'gwen'.

    Starfish chick...email me at
gwenphillips160 at yahoo dot com if you want this skirt...

  172. as for the chiffon rosette tee, i think you just have to try it on to see if it works for you. i didn't think i would like it...i thought the flowers were going to stick out and be fuzzy like in the catalog. but IRL, they lay flat and the tee has a nice slim fit for me in my usual size - not too tight. i'm glad i tried it. i bought the natural and a black jackie to go over it. i love the look. :) one thing though, i tried one on that was really short in length so i tried another in the same size that was longer and looked better...so try a few of the same size.

  173. I want the

    Polka-dot airy knotted blouse 96100
I am not sure how these were sized, but I would need your larger sizes to accommodate my chest

  174. Wow, seems like someone is really jealous of J.CrewAdorer to focus so much attention on her.

  175. I am so sick of this nonsense about size and how fat someone is...I hate to break it to you pal but size isn't everything. You obviously do not have children, a husband or a mortgage! LIFE moves on regardless of your waist size but it stalls dramatically for some due to their BRAIN SIZE. Get a life you shit bag...

  176. anon@1229: I saw some size 8 studio ball skirts at KOP last week. Worth a shot. 610 265 0810.

  177. I really, really wish there was a way to screen out idiots like Anon 12:56. She really needs to get a life.

  178. I stopped at the South Coast plaza (CA) store yesterday and their sale section was pretty picked over. Some random super 120s suits, a few short sleeve cardis (still $49.99 I think) and bunch of merino cardis for $39.99. The giraffe shorts are still full price. They didn't have the same promos as online either...for example, the Saturday pants are still full price. I returned my cherry blossom tee shirt and left empty-handed....

  179. What do you mean? JCrew Adorer didn't even swear I don't think. Not that she isn't justified. Haters like jerk-o anon need to get lost.

  180. The mean anon is a popular regular poster with a blog. not hard to figure out. connect the dots.

  182. can anyone tell me how the vintage slims jeans fit and whether or not you would recommend them to be purchased. I'm 5'6 and a bit curvy and usually a size 6/8 in j.crew.

  183. Please excuse my Potty language...!
It just bothers me that this anon person is so very negative to the 'larger than size 6' crowd.
    Sorry if anyone was offended.

  184. I went to the Factory Store today and got a "ellsworth print vneck cardi" for $10.18.. woohoo!

  185. This blog gets 7-10,000 hits on a weekday. I don't believe people can "connect the dots" to figure out the identity of all the Anons posting here.

  186. WTF@all the rude comments... I think it's best to ignore them, some people just want attention

  187. On the mila sandals and wide feet - I would say pass.

I have normal width feet and I still have to either let out the back strap a bit so my little toe don't pinch, or size up by 1/2.

They are pretty, but not really a comfortable pair.

    ReplyDelete
  188. The Saturday pants were on promo today at my local b&m. In fact, I picked up a pair today.

  190. I should add that I didn't have to size up on the saturday pants; in fact, I've sized down on my last two pair, the chinos and the saturday pants. My normal size had about 1/5-2 extra inches around the waist. HTH

  191. To second jbird, if everyone would just ignore the nasty/rude/idiotic comments, eventually they will stop. Don't waste your time trying to reason with people who have nothing better to do than make sh!t-stirring comments on a blog.

  193. Hi I need some advice on j crew shoes. I always wear a size 7.5 in other designer shoes & an 8 if they are pointed toes. I ordered a few 7.5 shoes from j crew and they felt a little snug for example the Carolines. Also the same for the Lucies. I'm looking for Lulus in a size 7.5 because everyone says they are running a little big. Should I be looking for a size 8? Also, I forgot to mention that I spoke with someone else & she mentioned she wears a size 8 in J. Crew shoes and her lulus size 8 were more like an 8 1/2. Please advise...
