J.Crew Featured In Allure & Marie Claire Magazine

A big "thanks!" to Pansy who not only let us know about some of J.Crew & Madewells new arrivals being featured in the latest issue of Allure and Marie Claire magazine, but also scanned the images for us to view! (Click on the images itself or here & here to see it larger.)

The first item is a watercolor pencil skirt that retails for $110. This item is not yet available online (or it could be, but I couldn't find it). ;) I am curious as to what fabric (e.g. silk, cotton) this skirt is made of.

The second item is a pair of Madewell white jeans that retail for $98.50. These pants look very similar to the their Garment-Dyed Zip Crop Jeans ($92) from an earlier post (click here).

Unfortunately, neither of these two items will work for my pear shape frame. Pencil skirts and skinny jeans only emphasize my ass-ets, which I need no help with. ;) However, I have no doubt that several Aficionadas could rock either look effortlessly. :)

What are your thoughts on either items? Have you seen, tried on, or purchased these items? If so, please share with us your review! :) Are you a fan of side zippers on the legs of jeans? :)

  1. The skirt is pure loveliness...and oh so feminine. Definitely added to my wish list!

  2. I am not a fan of skirt print. Like the concept, though. No zippers on pants for me. Interferes with the usual need to have them altered.

  3. I covet that skirt!! Is it in stores yet?

  4. I don't care for the skirt. I have one from a few years back from JC and it was such a gorgeous print with ribbon detailing at the hem...nothing can hold a candle to some of JCrew's older stuff. The newer items are pretty simple or not that inspiring to me. I feel like my love affair is fading. But for all the JCrew newbeeies I can see them being drawn to this one.

  6. I really like the skirt too. It is so lovely.

This is OT. However, you know how we see these articles and wonder when the item will arrive? What if the answer was NEVER. That is what just happened to me with a Kate Spade bag in Cookie Magazine. When I called my Kate Spade SA to find out when the item would arrive in stores, I found out it is for the international markets only. Isn't that a kick in the pants?

  7. I know very little about Madewell. Can someone tell me if they do mailorder? And are those shoes Madewell shoes? Thanks

  8. The skirt is beautiful, what a lovely spring print. It looks like another great pencil skirt from J.Crew. I seldom feel comfortable in prints, especially flower prints, so this skirt is not for me, but it is gorgeous.

I may try the zipper jeans but not sure they will work on me. I'm quite tall and don't like where they hit on the model's legs, at least not with those shoes. Generally I don't like the look of capris or cropped pants.

Thanks for sharing the mag pix Pansy and Alexis.

  10. I love Madewell but their denim fits nothing like J. Crew's! Their sizes run big, they always tell me that their denim will stretch (and it does--a LOT!), and I find their jeans to be very low waisted which is a problem when you sit! I wanted to love their jeans with all the cute colors and detail but I'll have to stick with J. Crew :)

belledujour-we've been expecting to be able to order online Madewell for quite some time now and it still hasn't happened. In the meantime you can order with them over the phone (they do have a website, but only show limited items in one color).

  11. When will all these fabulous pieces be online????

  12. Zippers on pants legs does make it difficult to have them altered, not to mention the fact it makes me feel like it's 1986 all over again. Maybe stirrup pants will make a comeback.

  15. Pretty skirt... but as Miranda Priestly said in The Devil Wears Prada, "Flowers for Spring. How original." lol... It's lovely, but I'm not a flower-pattern girl though

  16. i have those white madewell cropped pants and i love them! while they are a bit pricey, i usually wait until they have one of their 'denim after dark' events where all denim is $25 off...

  17. The skirt's pretty and I love J Crew's pencil skirts.

I tried the Madewell side zipped leg jeans. Looks nice, but the white denim fabric was way stiff. I opted for the J Crew white bootcut denim instead as that is buttery soft.

  20. My SA kindly shared information about the skirt featured in Marie Claire magazine.

    Item Number: 14864
    Name: French Flora Pencil Skirt
    Price: $110.00
It should be available around April (not sure "after April" or "in April")

She said that J.Crew can take preorders, but J.Crew can't send confirmation email (maybe because it is not input in the system yet???). Hope this helps!

  21. My SA sent me email again to correct the information on French Flora Pencil Skirt. It will be available in May and the price is actually $88.00 (not $110).
