J.Crew News: What's Happening Today? {Wednesday Edition}

As mentioned in an earlier post (refer here), I am on vacation! Unfortunately, I won't be able to keep up with all the latest J.Crew news, promos, and the like.

So this post is the "catch all" for J.Crew Aficionadas and Aficionados to share with one another the "current happenings" for today. Feel free to post your comments here- from current J.Crew promotions, sales, emails, and even questions on products (regarding fit & size), and the like. :)

P.S. There will be a daily "J.Crew News: What's Happening Today?" for the rest of the week- in order to keep the most current news on the most current post. :)

What comments do you want to share or ask of other Aficionadas and Aficionados? What is currently happening (in terms of promos, sales, emails, products, and the like)?

  1. What's happening today is I *looove* these Paris images! I have the Sophie peacoat pictured on Vanessa and adore it!

I'll be doing returns (got damaged items in my catalog order) tomorrow and will report back on new arrivals.

  2. I love this top and have it in black. I wish I had it in the color the model is wearing!
I called my B&M here in Brea CA and they did not get the dress everyone is talking about...the one from the email.

  3. the website is now offering $150 free shipping + 20% sale items.

    ReplyDelete
  4. newyorksnl15 is right. I saw that & it's lame. They're not even using a different code to register the offer as a separate or udpated promo -- which would suck anyway considering I just placed an order yesterday.

Oh J Crew. You need more than a couple pairs of eyes before you finalize things before they're presented to consumers.

They seriously need a customer panel to help them think things thru.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Oh, I am so excited. Free shipping and 20% off. I knew there was a reason I was waiting (and trying to pass on this promo) but both! yeah! JCRew! Happy:)

  6. I am guessing the extra 20 sale is not going well and JCrew had to offer and extra incentive. I know I have been on the fence and refusing to order the past two days b/c with shipping it was not that good of deal. Well, I am all about being able to use 2 codes esp. since the educator's discount is no longer being able to be used with sale items.

I got the BizRate survey and I told JCrew as much that offering an extra % off and free shipping is the only way I buy anymore. Yes, I am a bargain shopper with the occasional full price item (poppy floral blazer--LOVE:)

    Happy Shopping Day everyone!

  7. Site updated for today. It was a pretty good one!

I had two things in my shopping bag but only got one by the time I was able to check out.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Site updated
There were size 4 8 12 in golden roses pencil skirt and disappeared in a second !
Same was the case with the zebra and crawfish tee.
I wonder if some reseller bough them alll ...grrrrrr

  9. I can't find where the website is offering free shipping + 20% off sale items, and the EXTRA20 code doesn't make it work. Could anyone say where this appeared? TIA!

  11. It's on the first page of the website (not on the sale section page) where you can find the extra20 code for both 20% off plus free shipping for over $150 but the total MUST be over $150 after the 20% off to qualify for the free shipping.

I called the CS to ask for my shipping waived for the order that I placed yesterday. She told me she's not allowed to do so! Probably I have used up my "one time courtesy". Oh well...

    ReplyDelete
  12. Thanks Jean! So strange -- the revised front page showed up in a new browser but not in the old one I've had open since yesterday. Well, the important thing is that the code works. Thanks!

  13. jcrew,
Yes, stuff was flying out the door and my shopping bag was disappearing before my eyes...there are some serious stalkers of items out there:)

    ReplyDelete
  14. Love this picture!! Does anyone have the Paris catalog that they could upload for those of us who did not get it, so that we too can share in the joy? TIA

    ReplyDelete
  15. ah. i can't resist 20% off AND free shipping.

even though its june, i picked up some coats for the winter. i got three(the lille, bridget and lucinda), for all around 80 a piece.

i love that these aren't final sale too!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Alexis: Thank you for posting my favorite J. Crew pic ever. :) Hope you are having just an amazing time in Paris!

    ReplyDelete
  17. jcma: I have uploaded QUITE a few images of the Paris Catalog on my blog. It has been some time since I last uploaded pics from the catalog...maybe I will be inspired to post another one today in honor of Alexis and her trip to Paris. To find the catalog pics, go to my blog and search for Paris Catalog or Vanessa the Model. (Yes, one of my tags is Vanessa the Model...I am a wee bit obsessed with the Paris catalog.)

  18. Gigi, do you really think JCrew doesn't do market research? Just because the promotions they offer don't always resonate with this group of bargain shoppers doesn't mean that J.Crew doesn't do market/customer research.

    ReplyDelete
  19. foxyjenny723

Completely been there so I understand where Gigi might be coming from.....it is a wait and see game with JCrew and sometimes you win and sometimes you loose.

I think Gigi was just miffed that the promo now offers free shipping and she ordered yesterday.

The promo makes sense to me....easy for the customer to use and remember just a bit more incentive:) In this case I won...I almost placed orders 2 times on Monday and Tuesday but held off b/c the prices where not what I wanted to pay. I won by waiting but I have lost a few too!

    ReplyDelete
  20. What is the link for the new promo? extra20?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Pass on this code. It is a terrific sale, and wow, it's valid for one day. :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. yey! i held back yesterday but decided to order more today. the free shipping AND extra 20 makes the sale worth it. I got some amazing stuff at great prices! :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. If anyone sees a navy atelier jacket in a 0 or 2 for the 59.99 price, please put on hold and contact me at pgr001@gmail.com TIA

    ReplyDelete
  24. Same here...I waited and I'm happy to get the free shipping! But I would have been annoyed if I'd placed the order couple days before and found out they were offering free shipping + 20% on the last day...

    ReplyDelete
  25. foxyjenny723 - I was born at nite, but not last nite. ;-) Of course they do market research, etc... but it's asking for a heap of irritated customers calling & emailing by updating a promo overnite and using the same code for it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I keep missing the update! argh!

  27. Hi Gals,
I'd love help on the Soirée sateen blazer. I bought it in three colors (great deal) - but feel that maybe it is too cropped for me. I am 5'9" - and just doesn't feel like it hits at the right place on me. Would love to see it on other taller gals - if anyone has a review on their blog and/or IRL pictures - can you let me know? Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. mack,
Bigger Closet is tall...she is wearing it in pink in a post a few weeks ago.

I am taller than you and just ordered it today. I don't have a long torso. Just long arms and legs. I think it will be fine...here's hoping:)

  29. OT - Does anyone know how to get in touch with Emily from Champagne and Cupcakes now that her blog is private?

  32. I heard the new Madewell at KOP is open? Has anyone gone? I may try to go there this weekend... it's funny that they call it the Philly location on the website when it's like a 30 minute drive (or longer, depending on traffic) from the city. :P

    ReplyDelete
  33. I cannot believe that today they did a 20% off with FREE SHIPPING for purchases over $150. I am so upset because I made an order yesterday.
    Code: EXTRA20

    ReplyDelete
  34. I wasn't able to take advantage of the free shipping. I only wanted two items, one of which I was stalking so when it came available this morning I pulled the trigger. Two very lovely pieces, one a highly-coveted item, hope they will ship.

    Enjoy the one day double-deal.

  36. I almost pass this promo, since I found even though 20 % off sale isn't good enough if I have to pay the shipping.
Then, last night I checked jcrew.com and found they offer the free shipping, so I decided to order some (most of them are Summer sweaters which are full price anyway..but the free shipping makes it easier to decide)...

Ps. it seems to me that jcrew wants to get rid of their sale stock, since I see nothing new..

    ReplyDelete
  37. I ordered two pairs of the Cafe Capris on sale (khaki and black) in Petite 6 -- I hope they fit! I tried them on at a B&M store when I was in the states in April...the Regular 4 was a titch too small, the Regular 6 too big. Anyone have experience going to Petite size from Regular?

And I pulled the trigger on the toothpick ankle jeans, regular price but if they fit like I hope they do (and flatter my non-toothpick thighs), it'll be worth it :)

    After this, though...nothing till Fall!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm ticked off! I just placed an order yesterday for $300 and today is the 20% plus free shipping! I could have saved another $18 in shipping if I would have waiting until today. I just called and they will not give me the free shipping. I know the email says "does not apply to previous purchases" but it depends on the day and who you talk to when you call - sometimes they will take off the shipping charges. I suppose they are getting a flood of calls like this. I really need to stop ordering online - their shipping charges are ridiculous plus they should offer free shipping all the time for card holders that place a large order (like over $200) like other retailers do.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I finally went through with it and bought the dewdrop cardigan when it cropped up today. Every time I see it in my size, in my cart it goes, I don't order, it disappears, rinse and repeat. But with the % off and free ship, and the ability to return, I felt I couldn't lose. I'm hesitant to buy a bunch more of the 12 gauge cashmere, since I'm a bit snippy about how much this winter's pilled, but the thick, cozy 5 gauge was too tempting. Plus I LOVE grey cardigans, like obsessively so, and the pretty beading and teeny pockets are so dear. Can anyone comment on this one? Is the trim super cute, or fey? Now as I write I'm questioning whether I should have gotten it, boy am I glad the FS is over!

Sorry for the long post/ stream of consciousness rant, I spent most of today gardening and my head is full of benadryl!

    ReplyDelete
  40. EXTRA20 is working as of 1:45 pm today. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Cliquot - It sounds like the P6 are going to be good. There should be about 1/4" - 1/2" difference in various areas to make them fit better. They'll be a bit shorter, too, but I don't know how many inches. If the P6 fit exactly, keep them. These stretch out during the day.

    ReplyDelete
  42. tastymoog: I was at KOP this weekend and it was not open yet. Maybe they opened this week though, because when I walked by it they were getting all the window displays ready. I could see all the clothes and everything ready to go, so it won't be long if it's not open yet. Maybe this weekend at the latest.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm glad they had free shipping with extra 20 atleast on the last day..
They usually never combine free shipping with additional discount offer ( unless its a full price item and u are using ur student discount and placed the order via we will find it or red card)
"Something is better than Nothing "

    ReplyDelete
  44. I ordered the dazzling dots shift dress. Can anyone comment on fit for this dress? Or how they like it- Thanks in advanced!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I was told today by CS that new arrivals would be online next Thursday.

Smaller ladies may be happy to know that the ink dot dress (navy and white) will be available online in petites!

I am sad to learn that Emily (C&C) went private. I really enjoyed reading her blog and scored at least one great deal because of her sleuthing. Emily, I wish you all the best!, and hope you will continue posting here.

I hope JCrew realizes that when they "stalk" this and other blogs and react to the information we share (by disabling the 99 trick, for example), bloggers will react too, by not sharing information or by going private.

Just yesterday, having seen the soiree sateen blazer on Ema (after seeing it on Gigi and ABC too), I decided I had to have it. That's $31.99 in your pocket that you wouldn't have had otherwise, JC!

Thanks to everyone who has posted IRL pics of the new arrivals! You've certainly gotten a couple things on my wish list.

    Happy shopping, everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Champagne & Cupcakes is no longer private! Explanation on her blog... :-)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Whoa !

    just saw C&C 's blog
So jcrew is really stalking all the blogs for sure.

Makes me wonder if the inconsistancy in the timings they update the sale section everyday is because they know that we know about the 1 time big sale update everyday.

Stop ur silly games Jcrew. People are loosing sleep here !

    ReplyDelete
  48. @Jcrew
I think the CS rep's are sweeping off the sales section. Why would someone want to buy several sizes from the same style unless they are reselling and all the coveted items disappear within seconds once the site updates. I think its impossible to know the exact time it updates everyday and check out so fast unless they are working for online orders.

    ReplyDelete
  49. happy life - There's no way to say this without sounding totally rude, but seriously? You have people here posting at very early morning hours that the sale section was just updated, what was new and what wasn't, and they're talking about how items disappear from their cart. You even just wrote in your last post about how people are "loosing" sleep over it.

People on this blog think that they make up the biggest percentage of JCrew customers (snort), so if most of the people here are doing that - stalking the sale update - then it's not totally unreasonable to think that things will disappear quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  50. that ink dot dress (june 2009 arrival) is so cute! As are the crocodile print skirt, shorts, and cardigan. Miss the bright summer colors though!

  51. @Anonymous

Everyone has the right to their own opinion.
We can just agree to disagree :-)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yeah, OH NO, not people who actually have different opinions! THE HORROR!

If happy life and I can agree to disagree (and we can), then you shouldn't care.

    ReplyDelete
  53. All the 3 tajmahals I ordered the other day were shipped successfully YEAY!!!
I have 2 extra ones, so If anyone wants them its 39.99 + shipping (u choose 1st class or priority)

  54. OT, but people with thin wrists try the circle rings bracelet. Its just perfect ! its on sale for 19.99
I like it better than jenna bracelet

    ReplyDelete
  55. This OT, but the Polka Dot dress is already for sale on ebay for $275 by the reseller natedac (Item 250441504613)

Now, I have no problem with ebay resellers-except when they shop at the same jcrew store I do. Based on the location of the item, there's a high likelihood of this. If people like the dress, buy it now and avoid having to deal with resellers.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I thought Alexis disabled anons.

It's perfectly fine to disagree as long as everyone is civilized about it. I'm not fond of the written snorts and such since it sets a certain tone in this particular context and it can express contempt or annoyance even if it's not intentional.

We're all here b/c we all enjoy shopping @ JCrew whether @ full price or on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Thanks to the gals that tried assisting me with the whole 20% off my $500 order.

I called JCrew numerous times and was not able to get the 20% off that order, therefore today I returned all the items & I'm going to reorder them. Silly isn't it :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. gulfcoastgal,
Not silly at all in my book!
You might even decide to trim your order. None of us REALLY have to have any of these Jcrew things. Pure indulgence. JCrew would be smart and learn to accommodate their loyal customers like yourself. The "one time" adjustment comment by CS is talking down to us as if we are kindergartners.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Is anyone going to the Collection event at La Cantera? Just received an e-mail from PS about a special promo.

    ReplyDelete
  60. J Crew is back to their old tricks. I received my package today (that was supposed to be overnighted but the computer didn't accept the code and they couldn't stop it at the warehouse) & my order is wrong. Instead of the Sunbleached crinkle flower tee I received the Ombre Pencil skirt?? Ugh! I order so much of my family's clothing and everything on-line. I never ever get a wrong order except from J Crew.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I posted some pics and a review of the new spotted dress on my blog, if anyone is interested: LilacCupcake.com

    ReplyDelete
  63. Lilac Cupcake thank you for the IRL photos of the dotted dress.

To be honest I think the white dress you are wearing in an earlier post on your blog is so much more flattering.

I do not like this dress and the style seems to be designed for an older woman, like 50 or 60. Maybe that is because a woman in my office who turned 50 last year wears dresses or skirts in this style almost exclusively and it's such a matronly look.

Anyway, I'm not surprised it's so popular and I am not into it because I usually don't go for the items everyone loves. Enjoy it ladies, you won't have to worry about me buying yours!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Went to the store today... There are some major markdown. The dressy jersey twist-strap dress is now $29.99! The lightweight gauze ruffle cover-up dress both solid & the printed floral ones are now $24.99! The dressy jersey belted dress is $24.99 too. The chiffon trellis tank is now $99.99 in store. Saw a Jayne dress in tea rose (size 4 or 6) for $69.99. The linen constellations strapless dress is also $69.99. Embossed cotton Aubrey halter dress both solids and printed are $49.99.

These are some really good markdowns, better than the extra 20 + free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  65. The facts suck, but Happy Life, perhaps you are guilty of this when you say:

"Why would someone want to buy several sizes from the same style unless they are reselling and all the coveted items disappear within seconds once the site updates."

    and contradict yourself with:

"All the 3 tajmahals I ordered the other day were shipped successfully YEAY!!!
I have 2 extra ones, so If anyone wants them its 39.99 + shipping (u choose 1st class or priority)

    happylife.ut at gmail"

So, don't be chastising others for something you're blatantly doing on this blog. I think they call people like you hypocrites. And that's just putting it nicely.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I often have a couple items that I want to pursue since I take a while to decide which are the real must-haves for me and sometimes that means missing the boat the first time through.

I seem to always miss the big daily update too because I only check when I have time and I just don't have time to be obsessed with J.Crew on a daily basis. When found, I have ordered a missed item in more than one size if I'm not sure of the fit, and it is not final sale. Then I return the one that doesn't fit.

Maybe that seems crazy to some but since I am very selective about what I buy, I want a perfect fit, if possible. Not everyone posts how much they spend but I get the impression I'm at the low end of the spending spectrum of the bloggers here.

    ReplyDelete
  67. It's funny... another poster was "outed" for being a reseller the other day, when HappyLife has been blatantly reselling.

Not that I really care either way, but just an observation.

    ReplyDelete
  68. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Regina, not that I care either, but hello? Teakettle?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Oh, and one more thing...

(btw, this is cross-posted on C&C).

    ehem.

    June
OK, maybe I'm just one of those "power to the people" type gals, but...

Is anyone else with me that we should stop sharing our little "tricks"? It frustrates me that the 99 option is gone, that we had to write our names on our red cards, the student discount combination, etc. All issues actively talked about on JCA - all no longer an option for us.

I think it's high time we stop giving J Crew the little ins and outs we know about their site and how to find the best deal.

So as hard as it is - stop talking about it, because they're watching!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Jesus, no kidding. I agree with Regina. Finally a voice of reason and leadership. I'm giving you 5 atta-girls!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I also agree with Regina. There are some secrets I've kept to myself-like how to avoid final sale during final sale (without calling CS)..etc.

I hate to say it but it's not helpful when those like happylife buy up the online inventory to "share" here. Some of us have gift cards that we could have used. It reminds of of when monogram girl bought up all the shoes at the tjmaxx near me and sold it on the blog at a markup.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I have a question for anyone out there who's possibly bought the Linen Seafront cardigan in the 'dark mushroom' color. I ordered it almost 2 weeks ago and just received it today (it took a lot longer than usual for my order to arrive), and the sweater is labeled 'dark mushroom,' but it's not the mid-brown pictured on the website. It's a true gold linen. I emailed J. Crew to ask what happened (I really wanted this sweater, but not in gold, and I had been planning to wear it to a Ph.D graduation tomorrow - ahh!!), but I wanted to ask here: has anyone seen this sweater (or bought it) and seen the 'real' brown color? Does it exist? Or did they shoot the photos browner than IRL hoping they'd move more brown sweaters than gold?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Did anyone else notice that the ivory Greer sandals were on sale 2 days ago and now its just the green and pink? Thankfully, I bought the ivory color on Monday and they were on sale for $130 with 20% off.
I'm glad to see J crew offering free shipping AND a discount, but now I will hesitate to buy on the first day of a promo. Why not offer the promo all 3 days? Why anger those of us who placed orders on Monday and Tuesday and now feel foolish? I feel better now that I've had my rant! :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. TR - thanks.

I plan everything I buy and if something is not a must-have at $148 it is not a must-have at $39 either (soiree sateen blazer). If something is a must-have at $175 it is a definite must-have at $119, especially with 20% off (Milla tank). I realize the Milla price could go down even more but I was ready to buy today and the price is better than I had originally budgeted so bonus.

I see a lot of hype that seems to entice people into the pursuit of certain things because they are elusive or the perception of a great bargain. People are passionate about J.Crew, sometimes to their own detriment perhaps.

    ReplyDelete
  76. It is really hard NOT to be paranoid about what we all post on the internet, whether on forums like JCA or on personal blogs. It creeped me out a little to see the evidence of Big (well-dressed) Brother checking out our cyber-friends' websites. The thing that really bothers me is that it seems like information gleaned in this way is being used to stop us from having the best shopping experience, like checking inventory. Instead of taking note of valid complaints like pilling cashmere that seem to be occurring almost universally for JCAs, they prohibit sharing codes on places like retail me not. I know not everyone agrees on what makes a great shopping experience. We aren't all going for super bargains, nor do we all want to be gilded lilies. But I think most of us would agree that we want to feel like we spend our money at retailers that aren't actively trying to screw us. Yes, I get that JC is a corporate entity that exists to make money. I don't think that they shouldn't. I can say for myself, if I am pleased with the products and customer service, I'm alot more likely to continue supporting a business.

It makes me mad that some of us feel like we have to hold back our opinions, tactics, or shopping hints for fear that we're giving something away. (Not mad at anyone here online!) Mad that a group of people can't discuss relevant issues to shopping, without feeling like there's someone watching. Excuse me, not feeling, KNOWING there's someone watching, and likely changing policy to combat what gets revealed. That's poo.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I would stick to your responsible purchases. I can't and won't speak for others, but I'm in the same boat as you!

    ReplyDelete
  78. dickfiddy you were smart to buy the Milla top because it is sold out now. Maybe it will popback in your size but you never know...

    ReplyDelete
  79. @eva2
the basic point u failed to understand here is ebay resellers sell the items for a profit, where as I bought the tajmahals to give it away to my fellow jca's at the same price i bought it for because I know how frustrating it is to pay more for an item on ebay than it really is because its sold out.
I dont really care if u call me names, I just hope u'll understand

    @ Regina
I guess the above answers ur statement as well.
The other seller was outed because it was an ebay reseller. Most of the people who sell on this blog sell it for no profit at all, they just try to exchange or sell items they dont need anymore. There is a HUGE difference between those two categories.

Anyways, Thanks to all the Jca's who emailed for the tajmahals. They are now all sold.

    ReplyDelete
  80. As much as I hate what Jcrew is doing by reading the blogs, I can hardly fault them. Free market research and customer feedback, conveniently formatted in blog form? They would be foolish not to take advantage.

    ReplyDelete
  81. See, that's complete BULL. If I wanted a Taj Mahal necklace, it's not like I could have gotten it when it showed up because HOARDERS like Happy Life took them all in their possession. What if those 3 people didn't know about this blog? Are they then assed out of a necklace they were coveting? Who cares if someone resells it for a profit? Good for them. At least they're honest about it. And shame on you for taking 3, when you didn't even need 1 for yourself. That makes you a hypocrite.

    ReplyDelete
  82. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  83. And on top of that, there are plenty of people who sell on the weekly exchange who profit. Often times, people get things w/20% off, free ship, or items that are marked down further. What do you expect? For people to take pics of their receipts so that you can verify that you're not getting ripped off? Give me a break. Listen up people, sell it at whatever price you want. People like Happy Life want to patrol what they think is morally or ethically correct for their own benefit. Use your own judgement- just think, the gas you put in your car and the food you put on your table isn't free. If you can make $5, that's $5 more than you had to start with. Your "holier than thou" attitude is making me nauseous.

    ReplyDelete
  84. @eva2
I did keep one. That makes you a bad listener .

    ReplyDelete
  85. I guess there's a personal guideline in your book that legitimizes what you do. Whatever helps you sleep at night, honey.

    ReplyDelete
  86. It sounds like you're obsessed with making a profit from everyone here on JCA.

Just stick to ebay because whatever you try to sell here for a profit I'll sell it for less if I can... Don't make me start looking for your items. LOL

  87. I want everyone to make a profit. Try reading for comprehension.

And I hope you buy up everything in sight and resell it for the lowest price and retardedly turn your home into a jcrew warehouse. Hell, sell it at a loss, that'll show people like me! Perhaps quit your job, and call your business jcrew non-profit and file a section 501c w/the IRS. I'll bet you google that, seeing that you're such a bright kid.

  90. I have personally had people telling me via email while trying to barter with me that they got something at one price and then they are selling it for a substantial markup on the next weekly exchange.

I've also seen people post the same item for sale at a lower price and they post right after the first person posting the item for sale at the original price.

Maybe it's justified trying to give someone a deal but the person offering something at the price they paid is then SOL because the second poster is cheaper and it comes across as almost spiteful.

The WE is open and the txns are independent of this blog. Some people will try to undercut others or make a profit, fact of life. Doesn't mean we have to LIKE it.

  91. I love to check out everyone's blog, so when I see commenters, I always want to see if they are associated with a particular blog. Tonight and I don't know if I am seeing things but I clicked on TR's name, and eva2's name and they all came up with the same user profile: At first it was eva2, then Happy Life, and now TR. (Wait--it is now--anonee-mouse.) It will probably change in another few minutes. Why? What?

Do you all see that too? If that is the case, then why use three names and have the same blogger name as someone else? Just stick with one...it is late here on the east coast. :)

Hopefully by tomorrow enough of you will see it to let me know it just isn't my late night vision fooling me.

  92. Nailed. I'm happy life and I've been messing with everyone!

  93. Not nailed! You are not happylife, but you sure are a big fat liar aka Anonymous aka Eva2 aka TR.

    ReplyDelete
  94. dinagideon, I don't get what you're saying. When I click on their profiles and some others, there is zero information. I think since Alexis disabled the anonymous posting that people are getting "anonymous" IDs, which is not a surprise. Still, not sure I understand what you are talking about.

By the way, if you dare sell anything at a profit, I will paper cut you!

  100. Captain Crew: The user has decided to disable his/her profile after I discovered that he/she was posting under two-three names but using the same blogger profile. It would be like me using my blogger profile but publishing comments under the names girllikestoshop or babymama or so tired in virginia or 1234789jcrewlover. So if you clicked on any of my "names" that I commented with, they would all show the "names" as associated with my blogger profile dinagideon.

And I only mentioned it because I am really tired and thought at first my eyes were playing tricks on me. Then the blogger profile name kept changing and I honestly felt like I was losing it.

:) So with that, goodnight you all!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Dina, You are correct.

    Anone-mouse blogger profile said "TR"
    eva2@ 9:29PM said "TR"
    ann@ 9:59PM said "TR"
    etc.
When you click on them again now, the profiles, are no longer available.
hmmmm..... I think it's all the same person and know they've blocked their user profile from others seeing it. TR also said TR but know it's blocked.

BTW - happylife is still happylife.

  110. I love how every time someone DARES to disagree with the general opinion on this blog (J.Crew sucks, J.Crew spies on us, J.Crew actively tries to screw us over, J.Crew is unfair, blah blah blah), and even presents some valid points they're instantly labeled as an aggressor or as a crazy person. (As I'm sure I will be.)

To Eva2/TR/whomever you are - hopefully by now you've realized that the people on this blog mistakenly believe that they make up an extremely critical core of J.Crew's business, so there's no sense in trying to tell them that there might be others out there shopping the sale section, or using gift cards to buy things.

And to Cheesy Goodness, I believe it was - it doesn't surprise me at all that J.Crew (if they ARE actually reading these blogs) would "use" your tricks against you. Why would a company want you to know their inventory? Why would they want you to know how to get around their rules? Like it or not, J.Crew cares about making money, and retaining customers who are actually willing to shell out money for shipping once in awhile, and don't sit around and complain about them all day. Whether you want to believe it or not, J.Crew's bottom line responsibility is to their shareholders, not to whiny, entitled customers.

And while we're on that topic, you can complain all you want, but look at all the frenzies that have been caused by this blog (great for J.Crew, bad for you), and look at all of you who post DAILY about your purchases. Look at all of you who make empty threats about not shopping until X promo, and then you do it anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Thanks Anonymous, I agree with you whole-heartedly. I guess we can't fix everyone, but we'll try :)

    ReplyDelete
  112. Wow, just wow. Like I've said before- don't feed the trolls and they'll go away. I love this blog and would hate for a few nasty comments to ruin the experience for everyone. I've had some great transactions, both as a seller and as a buyer. Let people post what they want at any price- it's up for the potential buyer to decide on the value for themselves.

  113. Dinagideon is right on the money. Here's another way to verify one blogger using multiple display names.

While placing your mouse pointer over the poster's name (shown in blue and underlined), look at the bottom right side of the IE window. The blogger profile id code is shown.

The following poster's have the same blogger id 12571789014149273122:

    "No Display Name"
    "happy life"
    "TR"
    "eva2"
    "Ann"

The real happy life's id ends in 9517.

    How unfortunate for the imposter.
    :(

  115. I knew people were going to act like fools while Alexis was away. And surely I am inciting the riot, but if you are going to disagree can't you think of AAANY handle besides anon, anony or anonymous? Be more creative than that, esp since you're trying to be so cute w/your comments. Apparently using the anon handle in some way is a way to rebel against the fact that it was disabled.

I see a lot of things on this blog & others that I think are asinine. I just keep moving. Others should try it instead of getting up in arms about nonsense. Disagreeing & debating is one thing, but personal attacks are ridiculous.

  116. Chiming in a little late here regarding Cliquot's question about the toothpick ankle jeans.

I too have non-toothpick legs but I really like my ankle toothpicks. I'm a slim hourglass with upper thigh issues. For those reasons, I've found that many J.Crew pants, such as my matchstick jeans, don't fit well as IMO they seem to be designed for a more straight-up-and down figure. Yet the tootpicks, while a very slim fit, skim over my thighs rather than grabbing them. I'm very happy with the fit.

Also, I am 5'4" with short little legs so the ankle toothpicks actually hit almost at my instep rather than ankle.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Gigi, people (or at least one person) did that. Who cares if I still use "Anonymous" as my handle? I'm not trying to "rebel" against the fact that anon posting was disabled - I just want to maintain some level of privacy. And neither am I trying to make "cute" comments - I'm trying to make some valid points, but I know it's kind of in vain.

And for someone who's so above it all, breezing past "asinine" things (you mean well articulated comments that happen to disagree with the general population?), you sure don't act like it. Why even bother to post if all you're doing is adding fuel to the fire?

    ReplyDelete
  118. Anonymous - I never said I was above it all. I immediately admitted that I was inciting the issue here.

The point about your chosen handle is Anonymous on JCA has been associated with personal attacks. The people that disagree insist they are merely holding a different opinion. Different opinions are fine. It's the rudeness, snorts & all that go along with them. Now that a login is required, there are more exciting choices out there than Anonymous and you can still remain private. Heck, try "private1." It's not overly creative, but I don't think Anonymous is either.

With regarding to breezing past things, I was specifically referring to an topic that's been going around on a few blogs. I wasn't talking about this thread as I have, obviously, posted in it. Regarding the other issue, I've stayed out of it. I usually do that and despite having posted here I highly recommend it.

    Love, peace & hair grease.

  119. Jean,

What store were you at? Thanks.I would rather call the store and order and have it sent with those prices! The items you mentioned are ones I really want.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Icsmom,

That is such a shame that you got sent a totally different item than you ordered. A skirt instead of a shirt. That is just really bad IMO. What did customer service say when you called or went into the store?

You are right though. I order TONS online and JCrew is the ONLY company that messes us ordered items like this!

    ReplyDelete
  121. I use Anony because I used to post anonymously and people used to refer to me as Anony and I thought that was kind of cute.

Yes Gigi, you are very creative, as I've seen on your blog. Myself, I'm not so creative and I thought Anony was pretty good. I don't have any other handle on here, although don't have my own blog either. But you use use the mouse-over trick IRL mentioned to check out my ID.

    Enjoy your day, it's a one-off.

  122. Anonymous, I'm sorry if you took my post as anti-corporate, or anti-JC, or even anti-dissent. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. I have no problem with corporate taking cues from blogs, JCA, or WHEREVER, I just wish they'd take more of what's being said into account (adding more petite/ tall sizes in store, not just online, for instance, instead of seeming to only troll around for ideas that have been shared on how to check inventory.) The reason this sucks to me (and I only speak for myself) is two fold. First, I love JC, and if I didn't I would not be on this blog. I don't expect a corporate entity to "love" me back, but the adage about attracting more flies with honey than vinegar is apt. Great merchandise at great quality for price, good customer service, and interesting promotions are what attract consumers to any type of business. Making consumers feel "spied" on, or second class for asking for the teacher discount, or dismissed as sale shoppers- not tactics to foster big spending by most. Who enjoys being condescended to or used as only a info tool to kill promo codes? The second reason I'm bothered by JC's practice of blog trolling is that it seems to foster paranoia. If commenters don't feel comfortable in a forum, there won't be much of a forum left. I haven't noticed that people have been sharing illegal or unethical means of screwing JC, nor do I want to. But the free flow of info on fit, sales, codes, and the exchange has been interesting, informative, and a good read. If people are scared or intimidated out of posting, that would really be disappointing. I include people who don't want to post if their ideas seem to differ from the majority of people who post here, since I think one of the nice things about JCA is that all are welcome.
Anonymous, I hope your hackles aren't up! I'm happy you felt comfortable enough to comment. Having many voices here makes things more vital.

And now back to J.Crew! :)
