J.Crew Summer Catalog Preview {thanks gigiofca!}

A big "thanks!" to GigiOfCa (in this post) who let us know that she uploaded several images of the latest J.Crew catalog. (The above slide show is also from GigiOfCa. Click here to see her "J Crew Catalog - Jul 09" post at her {great} blog, Gigi's Gone Shopping).

I can't wait to go through the images to see what new items will be available for Summer! (I was so excited about the catalog, that I posted about it before I virtually "flipped" through it!) :)

I am especially happy to see the new catalog since I usually receive my copy in the mail waaaay after it gets posted online. ;)

Did you get a copy of the new catalog? What are your thoughts on the items slated for upcoming Summer 2009? Which items do you love or would leave? What items are you hoping to see? ;)

  2. I'm very excited to see more navy and red tones. The "scout" chinos look cute, and I think I may have to have the knotted sateen dress.

I can't believe that the Juliets are coming back for another round - in a good way, they're such a great basic shoe, just wish they were constructed for longevity.

Thanks for sharing this, Gigi! You're the best.

  3. I love the Anemone link sandals! The rhinestone necklaces are pretty too. A few tees and cardigans look promising but I really don't need any of those types of items.
Thanks so much for the pics Gigi!

  4. Liking the "copper" colors---and the tops, like the "shirred" tank. There are so many cute tops! And the skirts, super cute.....and loving the ruffle sundress!!!!

  5. Hot damn! Thank you Gigi and Alexis for sharing the photos!

For those who have tried the silk indigo floral skirt, how does it fit compared to the double-serge wool skirts from last fall? I am always in between 4&6 and never sure which size to order. Usually go for 4 or 6P, but I don't see petite sizing in this skirt. I definitely will be placing an order for the silk skirt and the pinwheel metallase mini as well. Surprisingly, that's it. But that's enough.

  6. oh wow! I saw several things that I "must have". When does this collection hit stores?

  7. The new juliets are kind of weird. For me, the appeal was the patent leather and wood combo of the current juliets. The suede and leather combo is not as appealing... and I'm sorry, in my opinion, not seasonless at all. Of course, since they come in purple, I may have to have them anyway.

    Thanks Gigi!

  8. I tried on the Slub Cotton Shirred Ruffles tank today! I couldn't decide which color to get...I loved them all! Will be going back tomorrow!
I tried on an XS (normally I wear a S). It fit very well and I think it's a perfect piece to layer under a cardigan or blazer! And the price is great, too!
P.S. I'm new to this blog! Very addicting! :)

  9. I noticed that JCrew got better on their jewelry prices... and again JCrew did GREAT job on the T-shirts, they are so beautiful.

  10. Love the Shirred ruffles tank and like others could not decide on what color to purchase so I picked up 3 to try on at home-eek must take at least one back!
I think someone had asked a few posts ago about the larkspur bracelet and if it was too large- Just got it last week and really like it. It is not huge and I goes with everything.

  11. Thank you gigiofca! Awesome job! I definitely found some possibilities... love the new Juliet colors and the peep toe heels, and can't wait to see the new brown-indigo print live. Also saw a flower bracelet that looks intriguing...

  12. Thanks Alexis and GiGi! I never get catalogs mailed to me no matter what I do, so thanks!

I like a lot of the tops. More ruffles, yes, but I do like girly things! Looking forward to seeing the whole rollout online.

  13. Thanks gigiofca and alexis for sharing this catalog. Such a nice surprise, since I haven't got a mailed catalog for months (I think it's a lost cause, and jcrew is trimming their mailing list.) Gigi did a great job of taking pics of the pages and closeups of the descriptions.

Oh twiga, now you've got me more interested in the larkspur bracelet. I have a skinny wrist, and was wondering if the bracelet would overwhelm it. Does it make a lot of noise with all those pieces? I already have a few noisy bracelets, wondering if I should add another to the collection. I was also eyeing the prism bracelet.

Can't wait to try the slub cotton shirred ruffles tank, the linen cardigan, the mica mini, and the scout chino.

Any opinions on the campo bag?

  14. So nice of you to share the photos. A few lovely items to keep my eye on and a couple questionable items too. For my style anyway.

The (pyjama shirt) Stripe Cotton Popover could be fun but I'm a stickler for patterns matching up and the mismatch on the placket of this piece would drive me bonkers.

The crocodile skirt is whimsical and cute, but I have a grey and ivory mini in a large houndstooth pattern that has the same optical effect with a softer palette and I expect a sleeker fit, without the pockets (are those pockets on the crocodile skirt?).

    I love:

Campo bag, so rich-looking and retro. Understated luxury, on the top of my list.

Odessa printed tunic. Gorgeous fabric in a look that can be upscale or casual. If only I needed more beachwear.

Joley peep toes in tortoise. A fresh take on animal prints with depth. Also the rich glossy burgundy color. Smooth as a glass of fine red wine. Finally a pair of red-ish heels that suit my wardrobe.

I'm not sure about the brown and blue pencil skirt. It looks nice but raises questions. Is the print too trendy? Can it be easily paired with my existing wardrobe? The chocolate is such a distinctive color, what shoes would go with it? Is it too flashy IRL for my office?

Looking forward to seeing things IRL.

  15. Gigiofca: Thank you so much for sharing catalog and such detail photos! I am always the last one to receive J.Crew catalogs. So, this is so helpful!! Linen sweater jacket and campo bag caught my eyes:)

  16. Thanks for the eye candy!!!

    Only one thought... Campo-baggy-goodness....mmmmm!

  17. Sorry for OT - I received Fall 2009 collection book today. Did someone get this book? I am surprised to receive one because I am usually the last one to get catalogs and not even a J.Crew card holder. The pink-beige book contains 18 looks and says “We wanted you to be the first to get a sneak peak of our FALL COLLECTION and pre-order your favorites. Call your personal shopper to get started.” I won’t place pre-orders because there is no information available about available sizes, materials, and prices, but the items looks very beautiful and I can’t wait to see them IRL.

I am not sure whether someone has already posted this, but will try to scan it to share pictures.

  18. Yay!

    CaptainCrew - I know...no P in the floral skirt. I am guessing I'd be a 2 or 4 in this. We'll see.

Ruffles and Heels - The collection has started to appear in pieces as of last week, I think. Items are selling out. It's crazy!

Kathryn - I just tried the light sage ruffle top on under grey and it's so nice!

Em - I love the new Juliets, but don't like the idea of suede. I agree the colors are tempting.

cyclone - I am a cardholder and I am not sure I got the June catalog. This one hasn't been released in all the stores & I definitely haven't gotten one in the mail.

xoxo - I love the Campo bag. Not sure it's for me, but it's easy on the eyes.

Naomi - I haven't recvd the mailer yet. I usually receive correspondence about 2-3 days after the east coast. I'll be on the lookout. Thanks for the heads up!

  19. Cyclone-ok have to admit that I have the prism bracelet as well (J Crew Jewelry junkie!) and the larkspur is a noisy one, probably not the best for work if you are on the computer all day... but fab for many other work or play events. It has a bit more pizazz than the prism bracelet. I also just got the pearl-cluster drop earrings and they are probably going back- for $55 the quality is not there. I LOVE the Palm Leaf earrings- (I think that they were in- store only) but I get a million compliments when I wear them.

Just thought that I would throw in a few other jewelry reviews while I was at it:)

  20. Twiga - I just got my Jcrew delivered today and ripped open my prism bracelet. I really like it, better than it looked online (because now it's on my wrist). It matches a prism necklace I got that was in-store only. I admit to stopping and gawking at the palm leaf earrings in the case, but I can't pull them off. I'll have to wait for the larkspur to come down in price.

I do work on the computer all day, but that hasn't stopped me from wearing bracelets with little bells (Luckily my coworkers don't mind a little noise). Now I'm imagining the sound the larkspur bracelet makes. Oh dear, I'm having jewelry hallucinations.

  22. Gigi rocks! I love how she gets the details in addition to the larger pictures. Thanks for posting, Alexis!

I am hoping that the re-appearance of the rosette tee in white means I can finally clip a great pic for Polyvore. Is that sad? I am loving the linen sweater jacket and the campo bag. But it irritates me when "Jenna's picks" - which are plastered on the wall above the cash registers - are catalog/internet only. Some of the jewelry looks very pretty too.

  23. Twiga, I was the one who asked the original question about the Larkspur so THANK YOU ... you and Cyclone convinced me. Oak Brook IL had one the other day and I bought it, I love it too. It IS a little noisy at the computer, but I kind of like my chunky JCrew baubles. They keep me company!

BTW Oak Brook had a very well-stocked sale section and even a number of bracelets/necklaces on sale. I saw Prism, Lovely Links? for 19.99, and the darker color Pearl Garden for 39.99. HTH someone.

  24. Man, I was convinced there would be new arrivals today. What a bummer :P

Thanks for the catalog gigi - I'm so glad to finally see some new stuff!

  25. Morning

Does anyone know if the stores ship? I love the rolling ruffles tank (after seeing it on so many of you; seems to be universally flattering :-); and I don't want to miss out by waiting for its reappearance online.

    Thanks

  26. love and already bought the slub cotton shirred ruffled tank in ivory-my store was almost sold out when I was there on Tues. Great price point too!
MUST have the indigo floral tank. I love their strapless tanks. Looking forward to fall too-thanks for posting both this catalog and the lookbook!!

  27. Stopped by a factory store yesterday and they had a few new items....Florentine Pencil Skirt in Cotton and the Domino Jacquard Pencil Skirt. They also had capris in the Florentine print. Had a bunch of shorts/chinos as well....HTH...

  28. Wow! Lots of great pieces to take us into fall, I like that! I hope my catalogue is waiting for me when I get home...

And ITA about suede pumps. To me they feel dated. The patent Juliets are my fave shoes.

    Thanks Gigi!!

  29. Thank you for scanning/posting!

Nothing new but just wanted to say I have the Studded gladiator sandals, item 16150, in Tan Rose with the silver studs and silver leather on revserse side. They are very pretty in person! The strap across the toe may be snug for a fuller foot.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Back to the Juliet mid-heels...I looked at the catalogue photos again and it reads as though Juliets are in suede AND patent, but the colours look like they're just for the suede? Am I on crack?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks Gigi,

I ran across the catalogue preview on your site just yesterday. Your shots were so good that I managed to ref the item number on a skirt I've been stalking for weeks!

I spoke w a lovely CSA on the phone & she helped me set up a pre-buy for the silk indigo skirt. I usually get the catalogue way after the roll out. However, after a couple of sneak peeks this season, I'm v excited to try on the new stock.

Oh & CaptainCrew, since I'm in almost exactly the same sizing situation, I'll be happy to post a review ASAP.

    Thanks again Alexis & Gigi,

    Heather:D

  32. Just noticed that J. Crew has added a few more pieces of jewelry to their sale!

    ReplyDelete
  33. OT: The delivery man just brought me my linen beach shorts in warm maize (popbacks!) and the Liberty Print perfect blouse (the floral one) -- in fact, I stole this exact combo from the model on the website.

Both pieces are SO fantastic. I love the blouse, it will work perfectly dressed up for work or down for the weekend. This may be my Father's Day brunch outfit :)

  34. Heather :D I look forward to your review of the skirt. I am not really a petite at 5'8", but I find the petite pencil skirts to be just in between sizes and I don't mind a little shorter than the usual J.Crew pencil.

    Thanks much!

  35. Hi Captain Crew,

I understand completely. I've found myself ordering reg as well as petite skirts to try & get the fit right.

    Here's hoping it's as lovely IRL as in the photos :}

  36. Hey JCAs,

I just got back from the Marlton, NJ J. Crew. They are having a massive sale. Dressy jersey belted and twist strap dresses are just $29.99.

Lots of flip-flops and pants on sale, too.

I noticed much of the new stock of tanks and t's has majorly dwindled.

Also, Banana Republic is having a great sale. I actually purchased stuff there, not at J. Crew. I'm holding out for fall.

  37. Did anyone try the jakarta cardigan ?
Does it run TTS? How much is it instores?

    Thanks!
