J.Crew Email: ALERT: Brand new styles added to final sale. Online and in stores.

"Thanks!" to HeidiG (check out her wonderful blog "Head to Toe with Heidi"), & Marietta, who shared with us J.Crew's latest email.

J.Crew is letting us know that new styles have been added to their final sale, both online (click here) and in stores. HeidiG's comment is too funny, that I had to share: "Quite the exuberant final sale email, huh?". {giggles} I could not agree with her more! "WOW!", J.Crew really wants their customers to know about the new sale items. ;) But I can't blame J.Crew for their excitement. :)

There was an increase of sale items, as well as a few pop-backs, at today's sale update (which happened in the last hour). However, a lot of JCAs (including myself) have noticed the past few weeks, that the brick & mortar (B&M) stores have sent back most of their sale items.

Are you planning to check out J.Crew's Final Sale section? Are there any items you are suprised to see on sale?

  1. Looks like they're trying a bit too hard... obviously, they want to unload the merch under FS conditions..I didn't find a lot of things I wanted, Im mostly interested in the new stuff.

  2. A number of new markdowns, which is fun to see. I bought the boyfriend military jacket (had been waiting for a markdown and it finally came), as well as another tissue ruffle v-neck tee in charcoal.

  3. I called CS and tried to exchange some items that were NOT marked FINAL SALE on my receipt and they would not honor it! It has never happened to me before but they would not let me exchange or return anything that were NOT marked FS since CS said they were shopped under the FINAL SALE section. Now, I'm really upset and will not shop from J. Crew if this is their policy!!! J. Crew you stink!

  4. not as exciting as the email would have it, but i did pick up the boyfriend military jacket and the crystal garden necklace that i'd be checking out for awhile. wish they'd put the ink-dot print dress on sale already--i feel like that's been out for ages!

  5. The email is a bit over the top. I would only use the word WOW if there was an extra 30 or 40 percent off of final sale.

I don't see anything I have to have. I will pass.

I agree with kendra. Saving my $$ for a fall sale later on in the season.:)

  6. BUYERS BE WARE of FINAL SALE!!
I called the card holder priority line to see if they could let me return and exchange something from last week's FS items and they refused. The items I wanted to return are clearly NOT marked FINAL SALE on my receipt or on the item. I've had no issue returning items that were not marked FS before, but if this is how they want to do business I'm shopping elsewhere with better customer service.

  7. I took a peek and really didn't see anything that made me want to jump off my wallet. That being said I did just receive an order yesterday; so I should be good for a bit.

I am interested in some new items, but I will wait for a bit as it is too warm for flannel shirts or merino cartigans.

  8. The Bell Flower top is on sale now for $69.99....

  9. Heh, I just opened this e-mail - quite over the top, I agree. From AT meanwhile, I get an e-mail offering me 30% off a full-price item in stores or on-line. Guess which I find more tempting????

jcmama, can you return those items to a store? I've never had a problem returning items not marked final sale. Your situation is one of the reasons I eschew j.crew's FS.

  10. La Belle Helene:
I'm going to try to return the stuff that were not marked FS at my B&M. I just hope the CS over the phone did not put a note on my order to prevent me from returning them. I know they can do that on certain items on orders.

If this is the way J. Crew wants to put ALL SALE items to FINAL SALE it's unfortunate for customers who shop online since they don't get a chance to try them on and get stuck with things that don't fit well since their sizing is all over the place. I have been a loyal J. Crew customer and as of today I'm seriously considering shopping elsewhere. It's ridiculous that they would put any markdowns to FS. Final Sale to me is stuff that's been marked down several times and is on clearance.

I'll post an update after I come back from B&M.

  12. I want final sale to go away. And I want a 20% off code for non-sale stuff. And I want Jcrew to give us free shipping OR flat fee like many other retailers are doing!

I must say I also prefer online shopping to the store - the DC area stores I go to have very rude SA's (Montgomery Mall and Tysons) and I'm not very pleased with the selection (Friendship Heights and Georgetown). I greatly miss Atlanta's Lenox store!

I got the 30% for Ann Taylor too - I went in their store this weekend. This is the best they've looked in many many years - and the quality is really good. I'm interested in going back as we get further into the Fall season.

  13. that is weird, because I ordered the jackie cardigan in light nectar from the final sale, and it didn't say final sale on it any where, and my store returned it for me. Weird and very inconsistant!

  14. Lori J: I hadn't been in AT in years, then walked in one day last spring with a friend and came away with an armload of items. I've bought way more clothes there the past six months than at j.crew. I agree with you, they're looking great these days. Lots of pencil skirts, and dresses that seem tailored for my body.

jcmama: I hope you get to return those items! The fact it doesn't sale final sale on them should make that a no-hassle situation for you, not a headache.

    ReplyDelete
  15. If there is one thing I have learned about J.Crew in the last couple of years, it's that the only thing consistent about them is that they are inconsistent.

    ReplyDelete
  16. WOW indeed!! Going to check things out right now!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I wish the Denver Cherry Creek store had such a great selection of sale merchandise.

All they have in the (miniscule) sale area are a few pairs of shorts and some tank tops.

    ReplyDelete
  18. JC Mama - this ties in with their bad service...I did an online return to their store last December and never got credit for it. They refused to help me - I had to file a dispute with my bank, who in turn hasn't done a thing. I'm irritated at wasting time following up on something that should've been seamless.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes, buyer beware of final sale! If I cannot try it on or see it in person first, then I don't buy. Plain and simple!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I had to pop back in to say that I just read that people are receiving 20% off cards inside their new mailed catalogs!!! Did anyone here receive one?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh for the days of additional 50% off FS....or even 30...

La Belle Helene-is your AT email one-time use? If not, would you mind forwarding it to me? I don't get what is going on with AT. For several years I got every promo email. Then they stopped all of a sudden and I've tried asking in-store, have filled out countless forms, have emailed and called CS and still NOTHING.

    Thanks!

  22. MCC, I just looked through my entire (mailed) catalog and unless there this coupon is in invisible ink, I didn't ge it. Where did you hear?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Mommy Dearest, what I'm reading is conflicting...it maybe a coupon piece or may just be a special code in there somewhere, maybe on the back cover?

    ReplyDelete
  24. this was the exact language: "mine was in the beginning of the catalog, on a small card, like a magazine subscription card"

    ReplyDelete
  25. I received the catalog with the 20% off coupon a few days ago...it's a smaller catalog than the store catalog...same cover...just no crew cuts included. The coupon is a small attached insert just inside the front cover...don't know why I got one, as I am not a J.Crew card customer. It's for online purchases only, so really only covers shipping...

    ReplyDelete
  26. MCC, how irritating. No code and no card in/on mine. Maybe USPS has something to do with that...
If I had 20% I might actually buy those things I'm lusting after.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well, at this point, I'd take free shipping, so if anyone has one they won't be using, I'd love to take it off your hands! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah, add me to that list (if anyone is not using his/hers)!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I haven't received a mail coupon included in a catalog since ages ago...maybe they send it to newer customers/non JC credit card holders as an incentive to buy...

    ReplyDelete
  30. OT but I received my collier jacket (still waiting for the skirt) and some of my lost faith (due to quality issues) in JCrew has been restored. I am hesitant to give it my 100% backing, as I am not sure how it will wear (I fear it may pill and shed quite a bit, but we'll see) but brand new it is a fabulous coat, fantastic details (including gold fleur de lis buttons on the four pockets), great lining. IMO looks much more expensive than $325. Let's hope it continues to look good. The color is not too bright IMO but responding to the poster yesterday-I would not wear black tights with it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Maybe new customers? But then Alexis just posted that they cut 27% of their catalog recipients. And I'm not a cardholder, either. Who knows?

  33. FYI, The Ann Taylor code is ANN30. They just added some gorgeous new cashmere sweaters today.

  34. jcmama: I'm sorry to hear the CS you spoke with was so problematic. In my experience (as well as others have mentioned) - if the receipt doesn't state "final sale" or have an asterisk next to the item, you can return it no questions asked.

From now on I'm going to just disregard any promotional emails I get from J.Crew having anything to do with the "updated sale section" -- the restock this morning was puny, and while I saw a few new items there it was nothing to write home about. And the prices didn't seem to be any cheaper than before! Just utter nonsense.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I just read another comment from a different person saying her coupon was 10% AND free ship!

    ReplyDelete
  36. What new styles? I saw nothing new. Ok, perhaps one or two things.

I will never buy final sale again. I have so far ordered a pair of Saturday pants with a twisted inseam making one thigh tighter than the other. These pants made me question my sanity until I measured them. I also ordered a pair of hideous cocktail capris. The Saturday pants I am going to claim as damaged since they are too irritating in one thigh to wear and the cocktail capris are not marked final sale. I am going to beg to return them since they are not marked final sale. I think I will go to my B&M to return rather than risk CS. I buy petites so I can only order on-line which makes this whole final sale thing even more irritating.

I also have a package coming today with a few new items. We shall see how they look and fit. I am expecting to be disappointed. Lately I have been nothing but disappointed.

AT stuff looks really good and I bought a top the other day with an additional $20 off anything coupon. They have some good deals. BR has some better offerings than they did last season. Although I am still not feeling the sack style sweaters.

    ReplyDelete
  37. On a completely different topic, anyone have styling advice for the Jakarta capris? Like what (color) to wear on top? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  38. mommydearest:
I saw the Jakarta capris IRL and had to say they were pretty bold prints. Well maybe that's why it's been dropped to $19.99.
I would style it with white tops or even navy tops would look lovely. Something simple such as strati tank or without any ruffles cause it maybe too distracting...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Unless it's something I already own and love and just want it in another color, no final sale items for me.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I had a J.Crew WOW moment last night when the cashmere sweater I wore FOR THE FIRST TIME started falling apart. It was like WOW, I cannot believe I got suckered into buying another J.Crew sweater!!

    This sale is unimpressive.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Srsly, where are the new sale items? (besides the "truck nuts" Bellflower top). I see that the number of sale items went up but not seeing anything to warrant the overly exuberant email. I am going to PP store in Seattle in a little bit and will report on the sale section there.

As for catalog coupon, DH has ordered exactly on item in last year and received a smaller catalog with different format. I am going to dig it out of recycle bin when I get home--maybe there is a goodie inside!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi everyone,

I agree re the FS frustration. I've kept an eye on that department for the last few weeks, & aside from the 20% sale, I was less than "wowed".

Most of the stock remains static. I don't think folks want to buy items & get stuck with something that doesn't fit or is poorly made. Like many JCAs I bought a few (well known) staples with the 20% sale & consider myself done for now.

Even if a "brand new style" pops back, I think I'll hold off because of the return issues. Like little red bean pancake, I prefer to buy petites & am often challenged by the variations in fit.

Oh well, sounds like I should be giving AT & BR a closer look this season.

Thanks for the heads up gladies. Hope you find something fab (w. a flattering fit:}) soonest,

    Heather:D

  43. Yay, the boyfriend military jacket got it's first markdown. Now waiting for markdown number 2 or percentage off. Just hope it doesn't sell out b4 then. Some swim stuff has been added also and being a Floridian that's good too.

    ReplyDelete
  44. jcmama, thanks! I know, they are bold and I *wish* I had bought them at $19.99 ;)

The background color isn't quite white. I think I have a 60s-ish off-white polo that might work... Love your suggestion of navy - brilliant!
    Thanks for the suggestions!

  45. The only thing I see in Final Sale is WOW prices! Things are really not all that cheap esp. when you have no idea how they fit, look IRL, quality etc. and then cannot return them!?? Final sale is the pits. I say return to the store rather than sending it back. Maybe make it more personal and tell them what was wrong with the fit, quality or whatever.

Corry, I broke down and ordered the tweed jacket and I am VERY impressed with the quality. This is a darling and very well-made jacket. I am not totally surprised it is sold out but I cannot believe it is completely gone?! No more? Ever?
Anyway, the only issue I have had is those 3/4 sleeves. It is tricky wearing it and figuring out what will work when it is chilly out. Have you had any remarkable looks that you could share?

    ReplyDelete
  46. The tweed jacket is available online in every size, it has not sold out.

I passed on the tweed jacket mainly because of the 3/4 sleeves and the waistband with gathering at the back. Also, the neckline is a little tricky, which is why they styled it with a hoodie, I suspect.

I would have tried it if it were more like a regular suiting jacket. I have an Agnes 120's wool jacket that is very similar, if not exactly the same cut and I seldom wear it because of those styling issues. Gorgeous 120's wool in a beautiful color but a little too fussy to be a versatile piece.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I wrote an email yesterday to JC regarding their shoes. I was very upset when the lining of my new heels started coming undone after wearing them less than 2 hours.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Sorry dickfiddy..you are right, it was sold out yesterday when I went to use it for polyvore but it is back.

I thought it surprising it is made of 57% cotton 40% wool. The neckline doesn't bother me at all and I love the blouson back because it adds interest. I am wearing it more casually or Sat night out so I love the idea of layers, a hoodie or with a scarf. It provides lots of fun options in that regard. It will be nice dressed up, too. If anyone is thinking of this jacket in this capacity, I say go for it! Very Chanel with a vintage twist and also very versatile. Looove it!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I didn't get an email until 11:30! How crappy! I would love to buy the double serge skirt in bronze twig but of course my size is sold out and I think the next size up will be too big. Happy news is the boyfriend military jacket is now on sale- will have to double check the store. Otherwise, I didn't notice much else.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Sweetsy, I agree, I love the cut & shape...it is a gorgeous jacket and I'm glad to hear it's as nice IRL as it is in the photos. I ordered the skirt; maybe I'll consider the jacket if it ever hits the sale section.

    ReplyDelete
  51. sweetsy, I completely agree. I have been looking for a Chanel-inspired jacket for a while, and IMO you can't do better than this one, from the gold chain in the braided trim to the buttons to the blousy effect that makes it unique. I have too many jackets that I can only wear with cords/jeans, so I got the skirt, too (arrives tomorrow), and am looking forward to wearing it as a suit with knee-high brown boots. Yeah, the 3/4 sleeves may not be ideal for winter and also for the dressier look I'm trying to achieve (I can see the hoodie thing, too, but that's not something I can get away with). I usually wear a knit t with a silk scarf at the neck, or a turtleneck, with my jackets. I think simpler is better with this one, though. The neck doesn't bother me, either. Really, this was a must-have for me from the get-go, and I am thrilled. Enjoy yours!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. When I checked the site the jacket was backordered in 0 until December. Don't know if that is the case with other sizes too.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hey Nicole,

Not sure if this would help w missing the sale serge skirt....

However, I choose to pass it up when I read a post on Post-fab (formerly paper bag) princess's blog:

    http://karaleighsayspayattentiontome.blogspot.com/2009/06/when-skirt-seams-say-no-more.html

It looks like at least her skirt was of dubious quality. I know it sounds like sour grapes-- but better no skirt than one that rips, no?

As for me, I'm holding out for the Mia or Mrs. O's lovely tweed skirt.

    HTH,

    Heather:D

  55. Corry and sweetsy: Did you order your *normal* J.Crew size in the Collier?

    ReplyDelete
  56. The casual styling of the blushed tweed jacket doesn't look at all Chanel IMO. The top pockets are placed too low and the gathering at the waist and sleeve bands giving the blouson effect just do not compare to tailored Chanel jackets. If you really want Chanel, save up for it or try consignment. You probably spend as much or more on J.Crew disposables in a few months anyway.

  57. Re: Talbot's dicount from yesterday's thread,
I was trying to buy some boots. I entered the code from the tjoos.com site someone was nice enough to post and it worked, but I didn't confirm my order. Today I tried to finish the order and the site won't accept the code. I called CS to ask aobut this, and the lady was quite unhelpful, had no suggestion why the code wouldn't work and refused to offer anything smiliar. Anyone have another suggestion or a different code, by chance, for Talbots?
    Thanks!

  58. Update on my previous posts:

So, I was able to return the items purchased during Final Sale since they were NOT marked FS (with an * ) with no questions asked at my B&M. I was worried the CS would write a note on my order to prevent me from returning them. The PS at the register looked at her register and talked to the manager but I didn't understand what they were discussing with my transaction, but they did not question my return.

I was upset this morning after I spoke to 2 CS over the phone since they kept on insisting the "allowed" me to return items purchase during FS as a "one time courtesy" even though I told them I have returned numerous of times for items purchased during FS for items that were NOT marked (* FINAL SALE) FS. I am clearly aware I cannot return nor exchange items that are marked FS on the receipt.
The last CS I spoke to over at JC credit card priority line wanted to bring her supervisor to explain it to me and I said no thanks if they were going to lecture me on the same thing over again.

    Lilac cupcake:
I had to laugh... it is true that over the several years the only thing consistent is JC's inconsistent policies... arrrgh!

    O/T:
BR is having 40% off coupons on regular items purchased every Wednesday from today through Sep. 9th. I asked for the coupon today since I didn't receive it few weeks ago. They had some beautiful trench coats and nice skinny jeans.

  59. I returned a FS sweater last month to a B&M, and it was absolutely no big deal!! They were very nice and accomodating about it.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Corry-you are right, the jacket is back ordered until December in all sizes.
Fabulous FL Mom-I did order my normal size and find that I can still layer a cashmere T-neck or two lighter layers and yet it fits me to a T. Like it was tailor made for me.

Anony-I will clarify for some readers that may have taken that Chanel comment to heart. It is Chanel "inspired" with a vintage twist. I am not looking for a Chanel jacket. In fact, there's no need to spend the money when I have this gorgeous piece of work in my hands. I think this is a jacket that will go the distance.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I just got back from a major return at my b & m. I had some FS as well as some full priced stuff (returned bc it was too expensive), and had absolutely no problems returning. I've generally not had problems at b & ms in the past either. Once, I had a new SA who asked the manager about an item I brought to return that was priced at 24.99 on my receipt (.99 = FS indicator). The manager said they had to take it since it was not marked with the * sign.

I hope everyone loves their boyfriend military jacket! I sized down, and have been loving it for summer nights and some air-conditioned days.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Heather - lol! I totally forgot about that posting. I prolly WOULD have some sort of malfunction, too. Oh well...

I checked out the boyfriend military jacket and had to size down...to a SMALL! Normally I wear a large and if I'm lucky, a medium. The sleeves on the small are too short, but it looks better rolled up anyway. It's on hold while I think about it.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Mommy dearest - I had a problem on their website this morning trying to use that coupon code too. The coupon code worked, but the order would not process. I think it might have been a website issue. Called around 3pm and placed the order, using the code, with no problem. Call cust service back and tell them is is the "July lapsed" code. Should work for you.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Mommy dearest--I used the code yesterday with no prob, but the website did not list an exp. date so maybe yesterday was the last day? Also, sometimes when you call CS and tell them you got a coupon code online they get cranky and say they won't honor it. I have had this happen with several companies. I think this is counter-productive b/c without a code I don't buy at all. I would not have placed yesterday's order without the code.

    ReplyDelete
  65. jessie b and cass,
Thank you both very much. I tried AGAIN today to place my order both online and on the phone. The phone lady was really nice until I got to the promotion part. She told me that "July lapsed" ended in July and she wouldn't allow any other discount. WTH? Do they not want my order? Do I have a note by my name - No discounts for her? I know Talbots controls their prices really carefully, but with AT, for instance, they will tell you what other promos are going on when you order and TRY to give you something.

I am really disappointed. Like you, I am not interested at full price. So should anyone find a different Talbots code, I'm listening :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hi all - I have a quick question. What does it mean when the order status says "released"? I know this is in a thread somewhere but I'm unable to find it. Has anyone placed an order in the last 24 hours? I've only gotten one email saying that they received my order...just wondering how long it usually takes until it actually ships. Thanks in advance for any info!

    ReplyDelete
  67. tres tippy: Released status means the order has been sent to the warehouse for fulfillment. Lately any order I've placed has been shipped out the following evening. You should receive tracking information soon if you ordered yesterday. :)
