Sale Section Updates {oh my goodness!}

As DinDin (in this post) mentioned, the Sale section (click here) had quite an update this morning. J.Crew also sent an email this morning to let us know that new styles (like handbags) have been added to the sale (both online and in-stores) too.

Although most of the items are now sold out, there are still some reminders of the deals to be had with the ghost item pages (i.e. items left in the sale section, until you click on them to only find out the item has been sold out).

On a bright note, several sale items have now been reduced in price! (Of course, many of those now reduced prices I purchased last week with no discount! Ah well. That is the game we play with J.Crew.) ;)

Some items include:
  • Merino Ethereal Ruffle V-neck Sweater
    (Item 19758; Regular $78.00; now $19.99)
  • Merino Flutter Bow Cardigan
    (Item 17855; Regular $98.00, Now $19.99)
  • Rosette-Ruffle Cardigan
    (Item 12563; Regular $148.00, Now $34.99)
  • Deco Shirred Skirt
    (Item 17480; Regular $98.00, now $49.99)
Will you be checking out the sale section? Were you able to score any deals this morning? Which items are you hoping to get?

  1. I snagged a black Trentino. Not sure about it but am glad to get the opportunity to try it! Just think how crazy the first few months of 2010 is going to be w/popbacks due to returns. I anticipate even better deals. :)

  2. After checking every day for the last two weeks, I was finally able to get my hands on the Jersey stripe scarf (item #98779) in camel. There were so many other pretty things to look at this morning - but I'm still waiting on two other orders to arrive, and there wasn't anything in the sale section that I just had to have (other than that scarf, of course). And wow, stuff sure does move fast!

  3. I did stop by my local B&M yesterday and they had some pretty good items on sale. I bought the black downtown field jacket (yes, finally!) for $99, and slim stretch black shirt for $19 (as opposed to the $48 that they're asking for online). Lots of Evie tops for anywhere from $19.99 to $49.99. A few black Frances longsleeve shirts for $39, only saw sizes 8 and 10. Several cashmere crewneck sweaters $69.99-$99.99. Lots of the cords were on sale for $49 or less, both matchstick and toothpick styles. They were also having a jewelry promotion, $10 off all jewelry outside of the case ;)

  4. The black Trentino in size small will be available again; I just cancelled my order. I got feedback on polyvore that it pills horribly, so I'm going to save myself the trouble and pass.

  5. Finally got a big girl version of the CC crazy bead necklace! The glass/stone bead necklaces came back but as final sale, I got the glazed pecan. Some CC stuff and a trial of a couple sweaters for me that I have some suspicions about but wanted to see in person. The Jackie in the golden cypress may make me look sick as a dog, if so, going back. The ethereal ruffle cardi may have unravelling trim like when I ordered the crewneck similar version last year, if so, going back. And the stripy merino turtle may just look silly, if so, say it with me, going back! I'm super excited about the necklace, though!

  6. I ordered the Ethereal cardi (I hope it doesn't pill), Gallagher cardi, cheetah belt, tortoise belt (if the seams don't align it's going back), printed Kelsey top, and some other stuff... A lot of things were sold out by the time I got to it here in West Coast....

  7. CheesyGoodness,
Thanks for your tip though that the CC ones work. I got several for my daughters and me. I cannot wear heavy jewelry and the other big girl version does not work for me so thank. Out of the 5 I ordered one was defective but I have another on the way that is hopefully fine. Have to check those items out carefully.

  8. If there was free ship no minimum I might have ordered but there is not $150 worth of stuff I want right now.

OT: VIctoria Secret has free ship any amount and an additional 25% off many sale sweaters today. I ordered 2 there instead of JC. I like some of their clothing items a lot over the past few years.

  9. Rats: curious was that scarf in the sale section? That reminds me how many scarfs are on the stores now! If you love these in jersey stripes and all kinds of variations (metallic stripes etc.), there's tons in the stores. Great gifts (but over-priced IMO).

Cheesy-I am with you on the green..I ordered a sweater in heather cypress. Not sure if I am going to look like the living dead.

Summer: Victoria's Secrets' quality is very dicey..you may want to watch it the way you do JCrew.

  10. I like that collier top in wild blackberry, but even marked down it seems too pricey. I think I'll probably pass on ordering this round. Plus it just bugs me that the cords are so much more expensive on-line than in stores. It's just not fair to those not close to a B&M.

  11. Saw the Jaspe Boyfriend Sweatshirt this morning but had the dreaded sold out when I clicked on it. Anyone out there know where I can find one in small or medium?

    ReplyDelete
  12. For Lauren and anyone else considering the ruffle collier cami--get it! I bought mine in ivory a couple weeks ago and it's quickly become one of my favorite pieces. It's great under a cardigan or tucked into a pencil skirt. The intricate details really make it special :)

  13. Anyone have a review of the Alpaca Long Shawl Cardigan?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I ordered the Veronique platform peep-toe Mary Janes in tobacco, and the Duchess stone bracelet in Dusty Blossom. Finally remembered to add gift boxes (free), so I don't have to pick them up at the b&m!

  15. Lauren S,

Yes, I wish the stores and online prices were the same. It really irks me too.

    ReplyDelete
  16. sweetsy,
Thanks for the tip. At least VS prices are dirt cheap for many things and you can use up to 3 codes at one time:) LOVE LOVE LOVE

So for the lesser prices I cannot complain about VS where as JC prices are so high and the defective items I receive for the price really make me hopping mad!

  17. Oddly, tons of markdowns but nothing tempting... I do really like the heirloom flora earrings that were sent out to some lucky JCAs earlier, and have my eye on the parlour satchel-- but I'm looking for a gray bag, not a black one.

    J. Crew on 5th in NYC had tons of markdowns yesterday-- it fills not that usual nook but the entire wall by that corner. Nottingham boots for $149.99, stretch shirts for $19.99, lots of ruffle sleeveless blouses, $14.99 for that s/s t-shirt with flowers at the collar, a couple of turtleneck dresses for $49 (?)... scarves and belts galore. I bought a shimmerveil silver belt for $14.99. Sorry, not helpful, but worth a look!

  18. Andrew:
I had bought and returned the Alpaca Long Shawl Cardigan when it came out. Mine got a hole in first wearing (the weaving on mine was defective it turns out) and it was itchy to wear with short sleeves. It's also really thin so it would be great to layer under but not alone in this weather.

  19. Has anyone tried the Silk Ruffle Cascade Jacket or the Flannel one? Does it fit TTS and are the ruffles too much? TIA!

  20. Marietta, ooohhh, the Veroniques look fab, please share your thoughts when they arrive! I'm dying for the bright pink color.

  21. I just got back from returning a few CC items to the B&M, and had a quick browse through the sale. There were still a couple Evies for $20, and some other cute silky camis for $20 as well. They had a pleated ruffle at the top and some self-fabric flowers at one side, a couple colors, mostly in smaller sizes. Colliers were the same as online. TONS of the slub angel wing tees for $40, and lots and lots of the usual embellished markdowns. I was saved from buying the dapple dot, which is marked down to $60 or $70 instore since they didn't have my size, thank goodness. Cute as heck, but the last thing I need, especially after ordering stuff for myself this morning! I was mildly tempted to get more wooly knee high socks for $10, but I remembered I still have a couple still unopened pairs from last year of the Arans (boy are they comfy!!!) The men's sale was good pickin's, not for extra deep discounts but there was tons of it. All kinds of cotton-cashmere and merino sweaters, some cute shawl collars in wool, and tops of all varietys: oxfords, waffles, tees, and henleys. Bottoms were more sparse, a few cords and twills for $30, sweatpants for the same. Sherpa and waffle hoodies for $59, I believe. A few pairs of trouser socks for $3, and thicker ones for $5. I actually walked out of there without doing any more damage to my wallet, yea!

Oh, RatsOnParade, loving the Santa hat, so festive!

  22. I've been holding out on the Merino Ethereal Cardigan in dark rust forever because I couldn't stomach $88 for it. I'm so glad I held out - I scored it for $29.99 today!

  23. Hi everyone,
I am looking for the wool duffle coat ( wild berry) size 14, if you see one in the store please let me know.

    ReplyDelete
  24. CheesyGoodness - I certainly will! I also love the pink color, but I just don't know if I'd get as much use out of that color... that's why I went for the tobacco. But, the pink is so pretty!

  25. Hi everyone...Review of the boyfriend fatigue jacket I just received ( maybe late for a review)...It is a great jacket with so much character. The fabric is a soft cotton and feels nice on the neck and elsewhere.. I can almost fall asleep in it! I got it in the faded black color which looks so boyfriend chic. Its not lined in the body but has lining in the sleeves which gives a good fit. I love it and I love J crew for making this one.

  26. sooooo many things marked down more in the store: victoria tissue cami, evie ruffle top, tuxedo cardigan to name a few.....happy shopping :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Audrey,

I feel the same way...nothing tempting. What are people buying???

    ReplyDelete
  28. Roberta, try Bellevue, WA. I saw that coat yesterday but can't remember if I saw a 10, 12 or 14. Worth a call.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Has anyone bought or tested the Nonno Shawl Cardigan? I keep being pulled back to it but it's not in any of the Atlanta area stores to try and I fear it may be too boxy

    ReplyDelete
  30. Roberta, the stores do not carry size 14, only up to size 12. If you want size 14 you have to buy online.

There are a few things I would like but I'm holding out, because if there's a code next week I'm going to be annoyed that I bought without the bigger discount.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Michelle, thanks for the advice. I ended up buying it at my B&M this morning :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. My Seattle B&M had lots of markdowns including dapple dot cardigan and what might be a store-only ruffle cardigan for $69, ballet flats in pink with black trim for $69, wool flannel dress in black for $99, a huge selection of camis, some down to $29, and PJ tops and bottoms for $29.

  33. Cass,
Yes, I think as the time gets closer to Christmas we will see a nice % off again like this past weekend. I wonder what the promo will be even tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I *almost* placed an order this morning. Then I remembered what a PIA it is to haul things back to the store and I balked.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't know if my shopping cart is any measure, but as soon as yesterday's promo ended, my shopping cart has remained stagnant. Before that, items were constantly selling FWIW.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Meant to say it's the flannel banquette dress that was on sale at my B&M. It's still full price on-line. Grrrrrr.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Heidi

The Short Hills, NJ had quite a few cashmere sweaters when I was there yesterday, marked at $99.00. You might want to give them a call.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Caught a popback Lombard cardi in the grey yesterday in a size small, was nervous that it wouldn't ship but it supposedly did today (funny how I have such little faith in getting the right item).

The cardigan is definitely a little pricey, but I'm excited to at least try it on and finally be done with my obsession over tracking it down.

  39. OsGirl: I tried the Nonno sweater and returned it. Bought my usual size and the shape was a bit slouchy and it seamed like it was going to pill badly given the acrylic content. It was not worth the price for me. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  40. If anyone sees the Evie leopard print cami in sz 2 or 4 please let me know... Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  41. OsGirl,

I just received the Nonno cardi from UPS yesterday and the fit is slightly boxy, but it doesn't really bother me. You may want to go down one size from your usual if you want it more fitted. Also, the yarn content and weight/warmth of the sweater is exactly the same as the Holiday 07 shawl collar sweater(if you're familiar with it). HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  42. OsGirl, Forgot to mention - I also have the shawl collar sweater from Holiday '07 and it hasn't pilled at all!

  43. Marietta,
the gift boxes are not free when ordering on-line, they are whoopping $4 each or $5 if you prefer your purchase wrapped. I searched high and low on the website and during check out for those free boxes you have mentioned( I ordered a lot of small holiday gifts today and really need those)and none was found. Am I missing something?
Anyone else able to get free boxes with on-line order?
I get as many as I need with BR, but not J Crew.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Slastena,
No, you are not missing anything. I emailed CS about boxes and was told there are none that are free to send. I was very disappointed. They cost $ I guess. I got free ones from GAP and ON as well as BR as you mentioned. It sure makes life easier at this time of year!

I know some lucky people have gotten free boxes when they logged onto their accounts though.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Slastena,

I am sure Marietta was one of the lucky people who gets the free boxes when they log onto their account. I just read her post...got to be it. Guess we are not the chosen ones!

  46. SO sorry I missed the ethreal vnecks for $20!!!! I will be popback hunting.... Lots of sale at B&M today but there were NO victoria camis and I wa specifically looking for them figuring it was about time for them to be on sale. Does anyone remember how much they were marked down? I'll try the red phone.
Shoes were SO reasonable. Ballet flats including contrast trim satin $50, montebellos $50, peep toe joleys $50, suede nottinghams $150, heeled notinghams $150 and templetons not sure how much...

Mary can you email me? I have a question :). Mommydearestjca at yahoo

  47. Does anyone know what the Evie leopard print cami was marked down to? TIA

    ReplyDelete
  48. I am miffed! I had a final this morning and no time to place an order, but had my eye on a few things. I should have guessed they would be gone. I especially wanted to get the printed Kelsey. I'm hoping there are plenty still in stores and it will pop-back at some point... as soon as exams over, I am going to be stalking the sale section!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I just had to share that I just received an order I placed for two shawl-collar cashmere cardigans from Neiman Marcus (first order with them ever), and when I put them on, I felt like I was wearing what I wanted JC cashmere to be: soft, thick, breathable, gorgeous, made to last for eons. Even the buttons were perfect. If anyone was looking at the Nonno but wishing it came in cashmere, these puppies are super-nice substitutes.

  50. Anybody recall if the leather Nottingham boots are on sale?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Slastena & Summer - yes, I was given that promo for free gift boxes on my account through 12/24. Otherwise, there is NO WAY I would pay $4-$5 each per box! I would haul myself over to a b&m and get them for free there! I think as a rule gift boxes should be free online as well as in the b&ms.... ridiculous that any store would charge for a box!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thanks Heidi!

Just came back from the crewlet. picked up the leopard cardi there and saw that they had a bunch of giraffe mini's, giraffe tie neck cami's, garland cami's, the michelle cardi (but it had the gem buttons) and they also had the watercolor victoria. There were also suiting items from last year's collections.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Michelle - Yes; suede & leather Nottingham tall boots, $149.99

  54. OT: lonnymag.com has a feature story on the NYC Collection Store/Jenna Lyons

  55. Thanks so much Audrey. I'm thinking about getting them but still a little on the fence. The lower price tag might just do it for me :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. kate!- which store were you at that has the Victoria Tissue Cami's marked down? I called 2 stores and they claim it isn't on sale? tia!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Marietta and Summer- thank you for clarification!:)
I have been logging into my account so many times lately- to no avail-not a chosen one, bummer!

    ReplyDelete
  58. $4-5 a box?? please!
kind of kind off-topic, if you're looking for gift boxes and don't mind that they won't be brown-paper boxes with a jc imprint, try the dollar tree. they have multipacks of white gift boxes for a dollar (a few cents a box - totally worth it for me). ditto for wrapping tissue, tape, scissors (and they have multipacks of ornaments - glittery snowflakes, fruit etc - that make great giftwrap decorations). it's really a gem of a store and not like the stereotypical dollar store. also, target has gift boxes marked down usually by this time. i bought multi-packs of gift boxes last year for 1.99 or less at target. it's better than having to beg jc and the white boxes do look nice, too. happy holidays!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Heidi:
Thank you so much! I had them put on hold for me. I will have them shipped to me tomorrow. :-)

Btw, are the Kelsey printed cami same price at B&M as online ($59.99)?
