Extra 20% Off Final Sale Is Back!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Lauren, Dishska, as well as Heidi (in this post), who shared the latest promotion from J.Crew.

J.Crew is offering customers 20% off any purchase from Final Sale {no minimum} with promo code EXTRA20. This offer expires 3/21/10.

J.Crew has been offering quite a few of these "additional percent off Final Sale" promotions ...and I couldn't be more thrilled about them. Go J.Crew! :)

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Are there any sale items you are interested in getting?

  1. happy to see the promotion, but there's nothing i really want...surprisingly.

  2. I agree with Kelsey. No must haves. I think the sale section is getting a bit stale. Plus 20% off is really just 10% off when you factor in shipping.

  3. During the last promo a few people mentioned purchasing the agadir top. Can anyone comment on it? . I can't decide if it would be a cute carefree summer top or hospital scrubs. Thanks!

  4. Can anyone comment on the policy for price adjustments in a case like this? I ordered the Parlour Hobo bag on Thursday from the sale section, will CS honour the 20% off now?

  5. I agree with the rest of you gals. Nothing that I "need" to get, plus you can't do free shipping and 20% off at the same time. That may have made me take the bait.

  6. Clicquot-
I am in the same boat. I have placed an order yesterday and called today to see if a courtesy discount can be applied. I was flat refused twice in a row; boht times SAs went to check with supervisor and returned only to say:"Sorry, no." Must be one strict supervisor on shift right now. I have pleaded my case: I am a long standing J Crew customer, order not shipped yet, etc.. Nope! "Thanks for your business, but we can't help you!" I am discouraged to try again.

  7. Hmmm...well, that's about what I expected, Slastena. Thanks for the info, sorry you didn't have any success. Oh well, the bag didn't say Final Sale, so it may go back anyway.

  8. Kristin: I received the agadir top recently. I bought it in the larger of my two J Crew sizes and it was HUGE--I exchanged for a size down and it is better. I do think it will be a cute summer top--the fabric and style are cute--but it is cut very generously.

  9. I am happy to see these promos. I won't bite on this one without free ship though.

Considering how much Mickey hates discounting, I wonder if JC is finally feeling the pinch from competitors with improved merchandise selections and constant promos. JC seems to be doing one promo after another lately (but bring them on!)

  10. I placed a big order earlier this week too of final sale popbacks. It would have been nice to have a discount, but I don't think I would have been able to have snagged these sweaters and dress if I waited!! So I won't be taking advantage of this promo unless there's a really awesome restock!!

  11. I ordered some toothpick ankle cords (ok, every color) and two of them shipped not as final sale. I re-ordered them today at a much better price ($16 w00t) and will return the others. These ankle cords must not be popular, but I really like them. They fit me just perfectly and it's nice not having to tailor (as I'm a shorty). I also got the double-breasted merino sweater and denim pencil skirt.

  12. Ann - Thank you so much! Since JC has that top in the lounge section rather than tops I was worried it would look more like sleepwear rather than a top I could wear out of the house. You've got me thinking I need to size down too. I usually take a medium in sweaters, a 6 in long sleeve blouses, but a 4 in sleeveless tops. Maybe I need a small?

  13. Crewcuts only for me as it includes Free shipping. In case you have not checked it out I just received the Dogwood decadence necklace in Black and LOVE it- it is really fun and now for $49 + 20% it is a real deal!

  14. I also ordered on Thursday when the free shipping code popped up but didn't order anything final sale. I didn't see anything that I really had to have.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I took advantage since I didn't in the past. I got two cardis and the Wool Twill Club pants (I have a pair in the orange color and although they do pill, they have a very flattering fit).

    ReplyDelete
  16. krissie, I LOVE those ankle cords as well. I have two pair and where them all the time. And I'm not sure if means anything, but a couple of months ago I asked the SA if they were selling well and she said they were and that she'd heard they'd definitely be back next year.

  17. I got a pair of the Jack Purcell Converse sneakers on sale two weeks ago with the 30% off and free ship (I ordered other items too to get the free ship). I love them! I'm a stay-at-home mom and these are perfect for running errands with the kids! I wish this 20% off sale had the free shipping with it.

  18. I too have an order from the past week that I have not yet received. I called CS early this morning about the additional 20% off and received the credit. So, try again ladies.

  19. Suzy-
I just called agian {against my better judgement, lol} and was turned down 3d time for today (someone is prob. laughing at my persistence) -this time it was done rather rudely. When I mentioned inconsistency- some of us geting the discount applied{which I am happy for, as I have been lucky in a past}, some not- I was told again- sorry, won't do it for you. That's it for me. I'll re-order and return whatever I have ordered earlier ( luckily, there was no FS tag on it, there was a FS code applied and most items are still available). Sorry, J Crew- I guess it makes more sense for you to spend on shipping and to process a return..

  20. Slastena,

I feel for you. I too placed a really large dollar amount order yesterday and was told no to a price adjustment with the new 20% off.

I have not had any luck in the past getting it like many others have. I have always been told no. All I can say is be thankful if you were ever (or now) lucky!

I am not going to reorder though. Just one of those things with shopping--sometimes you hit pay dirt and other times not.

Also, they may have noted in your account and/or order # that you called and asked for the discount or have had it applied in the past. Maybe that is why the 3rd time they were rude? Just a theory.

  21. Genny & Slastena: Everytime you call JC CS they do make notes on the order you are inquiring about, so they knew you called before. This one time courtesy line drives me crazy!

I believe JC has raised prices so they can have more promos like we have been seeing lately, they are still raking in the profit!

  22. Nothing for me...a few basic l/s tees for DS (they are super-soft and great for layering). This price-adjustment thing drives me nuts! I didn't have to deal with it this time around, but I have a lot of sympathy for other JCAs and wonder the same thing - how is it more economical for them to be so hard-line about price adjusting when people will just re-order and return back to the store? Must be a "numbers" game for their financial department....

For those of you who purchased the ankle cords, how is the fit at the waist? Pretty TTS? I have an older pair of vintage cords and don't know if I should use the same size guidelines. TIA! :)

  23. audball, I wear a 28 in the bootcut and matchstick, but a 29 in the toothpick. HTH

  25. I caved and got two pieces of jewelry I have been watching...the crystal corona bracelet and the Duchess stone cocktail ring. I was ok with paying shipping, because they are A LOT cheaper than when I was originally eyeballing them...

...and then I added another Kelsey top. I just LOVE those under a cardigan, and unlike most JCA's, I like the button front. I am small on top (32A), but have hips, so I need the ability to unbutton the last one.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Slastena, I am outraged that CS would treat you so rudely. I am feeling lucky for sure, but am not feeling the love for JCrew at the moment because of they way they have treated you.

BTW, your blog is great and your styling is lovely.

  27. Math Teacher: Thanks so much...I ordered up - hope it works *fingers crossed*! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Kristin: I would definitely go with the small and not the medium. To me it is definitely a cute (but casual) summer top.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Suzy,
    Why the outrage?
It does say on the Final Sale page
Does not apply to previous purchases.

Slastena and I can ask for the 20% but if we are told NO it is the policy and I am NOT going to be outraged???

  30. Nothing for me. I bought a couple of dresses and tops with the free shipping and 20% off dress promo. I'll keep an eye out though. Wish some more bags and shoes were in the sale section.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm eyeing the drapey wool Mackenzie jacket.. anyone has this and any feedback? I'm wondering if this would be too hot for summer? TIA!

  32. Kristin, I bought and returned the Agadir with the quickness. I agree that it runs big, and it's also quite boxy. The fabric feels cool, but the colors don't look like the online pic. The blue stripes are more pronounced, which is cute, but the NEON orange button holes are just more than I was looking for. I think it'll be marked down more relatively quickly, if the price changes for the swiss dot Alpansia are any indication. (That is a very cute top, by the by, an SA had one on in black and it didn't look at all boxy.) The Alpansia went on sale quickly, as did the Adagir, and three or four weeks after that it went down again to twenty bucks in store. I'd feel relatively safe playing the waiting game on this one.

  33. Just wanted to share with you all the cutest outfit I saw on a complete stranger today. There was a girl I spotted at IKEA in NC wearing the black blossom brenna shorts with the vintage bateau top in pewter. It was so adorable and such a simple way to mix prints without being too crazy. I loved it! (and to the random girl...if you're reading this, I really liked your outfit :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. AppGal, I love the Brenna print shorts (especially for the price i paid). Thanks for the styling tip. I didn't really want to wear a green or black top with them.

  35. Slightly OT - but does anyone know why sometimes after you place an order you can cancel individual items, but other times you only cancel the entire order?? I caved this morning and bought a popback sweater and a skirt, but then wanted to cancel the skirt (changed my mind, I think it'll get cheaper!!) but I can only cancel all or none of the order! Not that I really mind since I do want both items, but just curious about the inconsistency. Thanks!

  36. Still considering the drapey wool Tayla dress and would love to hear an opinion on the dress or the drapey wool fabric if anyone can help.

Nothing else in FS that I want, especially without free shipping and only 20% off. I bought a couple of dresses with the dress promo and added the porto driving mocs for my mom, which of course came back in her color and size right after the last extra30 and are now gone again in her color and size with this latest extra20 promo. I decided there's just no way I'm going to save the $27 on those shoes so just bought them already. I love my driving mocs so I hope my mom likes hers.

  37. Does anyone have the Jardin Jacquard Pencil Skirt? I bought it this morning and am just wondering what it looks like IRL? Because I'm Canadian, I don't have the opportunity to see it first before I buy it, so I'm hoping for the best:) It appears to be a beautiful skirt and for the price, I thought I would take the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hi Stella - I picked up the Jardin pencil skirt earlier this year, and I've been really pleased with it. The pattern is just gorgeous, and the pinks and greens are really bright and vivid IRL. The skirt runs small as the fabric has almost no give, so I'd recommend sizing up. HTH!

  39. qook: I bought the Mackenzie blazer in black at B&M this weekend and it was marked down to (from $119.99) $79.99.
Though I like the fabric and how it fits (I did size down for a more fitted look without shoulders being tight) it is a tad shorter than I would like the blazer to be. I'm 5'4" and the hem comes to my high hip so unless I wear something long underneath it looks kind of odd. I'm still in search of the perfect (if it exists?) black blazer so I haven't worn it yet. HTH!

  40. I wasn't going to but I ended ordering some sweaters, symphony necklace and a FP dress that I should have bought during 20% off promo (there were only few left so I had to get it before it is sold out in my size).

    ReplyDelete
  41. Lynzeeroo: I have only been able to cancel an entire order, not a single item.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi mimi.magnolia: thank you for your feedback. I'm glad to hear that it runs small, as I am normally a petite 0 in JC clothing and could only order this skirt in a 0. I anticipate having to have it altered but if it runs small than it may only need to be hemmed.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thank you Ann and Cheesy for your feedback on the agadir. My B&M still had alpansias for $49.99 (maybe they would have rung up differently, I didn't try). I found the white too sheer and a bit too ruffly for me. I'd consider black but can't find that one for cheap.

    ReplyDelete
  44. No for me on this sale; I'd last purchased on the 30% off but ended up returning everything but a pair of cords and a featherweight cashmere cardigan. I'm going to go w/the Featherweight is Great camp in the J. Crew cashmere debate... it's just light enough spring and I've worn it all this week without any issues in quality.

I also purchased the Alpansia in black when it went down to $19.99 in the stores, have been eyeing it for a while. It's a bit boxy but when you put it on, not overtly so. The square neck is really cute. I could size down to an 8 (uncomfortably if I eat lunch) or a 10 (comfortably), and I'm usually a 12 in J. Crew button-ups.

  46. Thanks audball. I was able to cancel individual items from an order last week (I'm very indecisive!!!) but not on my most recent order so I am just confused about the inconsistency. Oh well, it'll probably arrive and I'll love it and be glad I ordered it anyhow! :)
