Final Sale Updates {oh my!} & Free Shipping

As many of you have noticed & noted, the Final Sale section (click here to shop online) had quite an update this morning! There are lots of pop-backs from seasons past as well. Although, by the time I got to the sale, the ghost pages (item pages with no stock) were all that remained for the items I was interested in. Ah well! But there are still lots of items available left! :)

Also, "thanks!" to many of you, including Summer (in this post) & Marietta, who let us know that J.Crew is offering free shipping on orders of $150+ with promo code SHIP150. This offer expires 4/14/10.

Did you check out the Final Sale section today? Were you able to snag any amazing deals? If so, please share! :)

  1. Good morning

    The count is 1157 items!

  2. Alexis: I was online at the time the update happened, and a large part of it was ghost pages. I think that's one of the main reasons the number of items was so high.

  3. I did notice the big update in the sale section this morning, it was 1157 when I logged in as well; however didn't we all get the email on April 8th that "FINAL SALE" was only 5 more days??? Shouldn't it just be "SALE" now? I did not order anything either. They have stretched out the sale of these same items way too long, and at the same prices. Don't you think??

  4. Not any *amazing* deals, but yes, i got two items I wanted for a reasonable price

  6. I was happy to browse through the large dale update, but I held firm. Seeing so many popbacks from the past few seasons which look so similar to what's on tap this season has me disinterested in buying.

Suzy has a good point that prices aren't changing. I know every retailer is different, but the way Gap brands do sales makes the most sense. An item goes on sale, and every two weeks the price goes lower until either it sells out or it hits a bargain basement price (indicated by a price ending in .97) that is the final sale. You can still use percent off deals on the FS but the sticker won't go down further. It's great that JC has been consistently offering free ship deals, but I think the minimum has been high while prices aren't getting any lower. I miss the percent off in stores, too!

  7. Against my better judgement, I did order a popback scarf this morning. Totally didn't need that one either...but I didn't know I wanted it when it came around the first time! Plus - of COURSE they'd refresh the sale section the day *after* the free shipping promotion ended!

  8. I noticed a few ghost pages but most everything I clicked on was in stock in at least one, two or even three sizes. I think things sold out FAST. I saw the update this a.m. right before my eyes. I did try and rebuy two items that got cancelled/out of stock from my last order hoping they ship but not really counting on it. I might get lucky--who knows. Also, if I see and item I want and it has a ghost page and I call CS right away sometimes there is one left. It has worked for me before...twice.

  9. PS
One item I ordered was a collection piece for a steal:) I hope it ships but not getting my hopes up too much!

  11. Anything I might have been interested in was a ghost page. It's interesting that the exact second they restock, they are sold out.

  12. I ordered a popback bikini top against my better judgment (it was only $9.99) and a couple other sale items that came back in my size, plus a ride along sweater in order to get the free shipping. The ghost items were gone by the time I checked it out, but there were still over 1050 items in the sale.

  13. There were a lot of items to browse through but nothing I wanted to buy. I have shopped a lot since Christmas so I've picked up most of what I missed the first time around.

  14. Any thoughts on the cotton-wool lino cardigan? It just popped back in my size in beeachwood blossom. I think it's adorable but feel like it could go either way IRL (maybe too sheer?). I'd appreciate any feedback on it.

  16. The thing I noticed is that all of the tees were/are still showing up in the Sale section at 20% off -- wonder if that's on purpose or if some were supposed to go back up to regular price.

  17. I bought my first J Crew pencil skirt last week in final sale - size 0 - it's enormous! I have learned my lesson, no more Final Sale purchases ever.

  18. So I just went to the clearnace center near Asheville nc (doctor appt in the area...darn) and there are some goodies. There was a rack of what I *think* are black minnies for $30. Sizes 0, 2, 8, 10 and 8p 10p. There were some Carly dresses for $40 sizes 2 and 8. Loads of shoes. A perfect pencil skirt in cinn spice sz 2 And black sz 12 for $50. Lots of $50 cashmere (didn't fall for that one tho). I'm still in the area for the day so shoot me an email if you have any questions. Musingsonmtn(at)gmail. Com

  19. I browsed the sale section this morning, but I didn't see anything I want to buy. I still have quite a few unworn recent purchases so, other than the elusive work-pants-that-fit-a-big-booty, there's really nothing I want or need.

I'm greatly enjoying the 3 shirts (honeyclover ruffled romance perfect shirt, thicket floral perfect shirt, jaipur perfect shirt) and 3 jackie cardis (I believe they're seashore green, shocking pink, hydrangea) that I purchased at JCrew last weekend.

I also received a LE Canvas heritage cardi and ruffled tank in the amazing coral pink color a few days ago. (So pretty!)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I got the SP 10 Tiered Tank and the slub ruffled henley....both poped back in XS in several colors...and got the Free shipping, too! Then, I got on a roll and ordered the Wednesday Tie dyed Skirt and the ruffled vest and got FS on those , too. Not sure I'll keep either one but wanted to try them and the Wednesday skirt flew out of the store near me before I got to try it on. The vest has looked so cute on others, I wanted to give it a try!

  21. A, I quite enjoy the lino cardi. I have the grey that I got during a recent percent off + free ship promo, and have worn it several times, it's pretty thin, but great for this time of year. It is kind of cropped, but not belly shirt short, thank goodness! I really like the curved lines, they seem to flatter nicely. The fit is a tad big around, but it is short enough that I wouldn't size down for the extra length.

Jeanne, good luck finding your "booty" pants at JC! I have to look hard to find "booby" shirts.

AppGal, sounds like some goodies at the clearance center. Are you going to post to your blog about your finds?

  22. Thank you so much CheesyGoodness! I think I might hold out and see if my size is still available next time they do an extra % off

  23. Nice interview with J. Crew men's stylist Jack O'Connell at Selectism:

    http://www.selectism.com/news/2010/04/09/selectism-qa-jack-oconnor-of-jcrew/

Mostly focuses on what you girls should keep in mind when shopping for guys. But I definitely agree that there are a lot more young men who are getting into fashion but don't want that "metrosexual" look, and Crew is perfect for us.

Nothing great in the men's sale section. I love the new sun-faded oxfords, though.

  24. Wanted to post my opinion on a few items I got recently.

I received the painter cardigan late last week and it is *incredibly* thin and sheer. While it feels soft and light, I doubt it would hold up for long and I don't think it is worth $68.

The perfect fit stripe open crewneck tee is also very thin and sheer in the light colors. It feels like it has the potential to stretch out and sag so unfortunately, these too will be going back.

One item I'm on the fence about is the drapey wool Tayla dress. It's OK really, nothing fabulous and decent enough quality, but the single pleat on the left side of the dress looks a bit odd and off-balance. Not sure I can get past that little quirk.

It hasn't been a total bust though, the superfine cotton Emmaleigh dress is fabulous. The fit is super flattering and it is really comfortable. I got the navy and wore it with a pink tissue turtleneck since it is still cool here. Love it and will definitely pick it up in another color if it goes on sale. I'm quite busty and it was accomodating and didn't require a scarf to avoid a scandalous flash of cleavage.

    HTH someone.

  25. Chris, what's the color like on the warm fig. I got the pale lilac blouse and it's beautiful, but I've wondered if I should get the fig as well.

    ReplyDelete
  26. OT - I just received the flower patch tee (26511) in white and while it is a very pretty tee, it is indecently sheer! Why, oh why, do all white tees have to be see-through? Can no one make a nice white tee that isn't sheer? Oh, well, back it goes. I'll just keep looking. ATL posted some new tees in the last few days and hopefully one of them will work.

As far as the sale goes, I'm not getting anything else unless it has an extra percent off or a fantastic mark down. Plus, I want to see what happens once final sale is gone. :)

  27. Hi math teacher - I'm wearing Gap's "pocket boyfriend T" today in optic white and it is not see through! It's got kind of the open crewneck and is a bit slouchy and a very cute basic.

  28. Nothing for me online -- I have a strong feeling extra20 will pop up soon, and I won't be made a fool of again! LOL. I did toodle over to my local B&M and was able to get another enamel-button painter henley (LOVE these!) for $14.99 and then found an oddity on the sale rack -- a tissue-weight cotton cardigan with no closures on the front. Used my handy-dandy iPhone to search the site and realized it's an 'Always' Cardigan. Was marked at $24.99 and is still online @ full price for $39.50 ... not sure what's going on but I liked it, so I got it! It's a L (I usually wear a Med) but the sleeves are VERY fitted, so the L worked for me.

Sale section included some weird shorts that were frayed and ship-dyed at the edges, a bunch of dresses, ruffled henleys, the usual glut of t-shirts (have to say I love my FS Dahlia tees!). a few palmera camis and a few other odds and ends. Nothing to write home about.

Bring on the extra20 or FS w.no minimim!

Oh crap. I just remembered I'm supposed to be on a shopping ban. Oooops. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi Elaine, I bought a dahlia tee during the tee promo and I'm unsure about how it's going to hold up in the wash. Have you washed yours yet?

  30. silver lining, I'll have to take a look at gap next time I'm out. Thanks for the info. :)

  31. CheesyGoodness: They did have some good stuff! It's one of those places though that is hit or miss. Last time I went I was sorely disappointed. This time was much better, although I didn't have much $ to spend! I got a schoolboy blazer in the coral color (HCO=heathered coral?) for $45. It's so cute! The only other thing I got was a heathered gray perfect fit tee. And no, probably won't do a blog recap since I'm not doing the blog these days and didn't get any pics. I'm happy to answer questions as to what was and was not there! :)

  32. btw...I do plan on going back to the clearance center soon-ish (first of May), so if anyone is looking for a particular item, let me know and I'll see what I can scope out. musingsonmtn(at)gmail(dot)com.

  33. Me again. Sorry for AppGal overload here. Just wanted to report on what I found at the retail store in Asheville:
Watercolor Pastiche skirts, $69.99: I made a beeline for this when I first walked in, but ended up not liking it. It's just...too much. The fabric is nice, fit is nice, but the design was too busy for me. I could see it looking dated soon.

Celosia cardis: $69.99 and they had that CBR color.
    Black blossom blazers, $29.99
Jaipur skirt...so cute! They had plenty in stock. This just doesn't work for me--too short.
Neapolitan Pencil skirt: they had 3 in stock, size 0, 8, and 12? I *think* those were the sizes. Still full-price.
Neapolitan & Sunshine peony cardis: $69.99.
Vintage bateau top: I bought the last one in camel (yay!) but they still had plenty of pinks and pewters.

Also...umbrellas in the stained glass design were marked down to $14.99. I picked one of those up.

There were a ton of other things...this store was very well-stocked today. Ask me questions if you have any.

  34. I doubt we will see an additional percent off sale anytime soon...esp. with the switch from final to spring sale. It is going to be a while. I was excited by the early morning update:)and items in my size being available and no ghosts...will see what ships/is defective. Really have a positive feeling though this time around...

  35. I just watched this clip and thought of J Crew's mini's. I have some idea of how I'd have to sit and how much squirming I'd do. ;-)

  36. Belle de jour,

My family was staying at a hotel where a lot of business people stay. I went out to McD to get breakfast while my hubby working/watching the kids in my J crew Mini...
I was fine until a man passing by gave me some look. It was Sunday 7 in the morning and I was already wearing my makeup and usual high heels (i'm 5' 2") then I realized...Oh...!
I'll never wear a mini when I get out of a hotel alone in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hey Martha, I have not washed it yet, only tried it on when it came in the mail. I think when it's time I will load it with some other JC tees and wash on delicate in the washer. I also forgot to mention I got one of the embroidered spray art tees last night in the White Ash color...these didn't appeal to me online but it was pretty IRL! I an't wait to wear it -- sizing seems consistent with the Dahlia tee. :-)

  38. CheesyGoodness, I have that awful shirt gapping problem, too. It's not because the shirt is too small because it happens on shirts that are otherwise loose fitting. They just aren't cut for boobs. I keep saying I'm going to put some snaps or something between the buttons in the bust are of my shirts to keep them together.

    ReplyDelete
  39. yeah,,there were a lot of ghost pages which occur almost of every update they have. but i ended up buying 4 items.. i got the shimmerveil charmed mini bag in pale gold for $99 from original price of 198. I guess i hit their website first among others coz a little later when i checked again the bag got sold out already.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Still waiting for them to take the "final" away.... but I have no more money to spend anyway!

    ReplyDelete
  41. OT - has anyone tried the modal convertible dress from Lands End Canvas? There is a 25% off any one item right now.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I just returned from the store to pick up the vintage slub v-neck tee in heather grey. I order a few w/ the 20% off tees promo and wouldn't you know it, I decide I want this color after the promo has ended. *sigh*

Anyway, I used the 10% off card I received for giving them my email. And the SA gave it back to me to use again. He said it was good through 4/24. I just assumed it was a one-time use so I'm stoked. Except do we think this means no hope of a 20% off Mickey card this spring?

    ReplyDelete
  43. I realized when I opened one of my JC bags the other day, there was no 10% coupon in it. That wily SA lied to me! GRRR.

Incidentally, I am wearing my Always cardigan today and really like it a lot! My scattered glass necklace also made its debut today -- I found it on eBay recently; had been chasing it for years. LOVE IT! :-)

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  49. LOL - Spring sale looks EXACTLY like final sale, minus the "final" part. :)

  50. And a pretty pink background instead of the navy. Hopefully this "new" sale will at least mean new arrivals soon?
