Off On a Tangent: Land's End Family & Friends Event {25% off & free shipping!}

Don't worry, I am still all about the Crew! But sometimes there are codes/ offers from other retailers that might be useful for some J.Crew Aficionadas & Aficionados, like now...
"Thanks!" to Heather who let us know that Land's End (which includes Land's End Canvas) is running a "Friends & Family" promotion by offering 25% off (regular priced items) and free shipping. Just enter Promotion Code: FRIENDS25 and PIN: 2980. This offer expires Monday, 4/19/10.

Just in case... If the following code does not work, just go to Lands End (click here), find the offer on the front page, and click on "Details". The pop-up screen will provide you a promo code & pin.

I couldn't pass up this offer and ordered the other day the Women's Smocked Slub Jersey Dress (Item 39000-4X61; $49.50) in Black. It will be perfect for the warmer weather (easy to wear & looks sweet).

Happy Shopping! :)

  1. Thank you for posting! There are some really cute things on the site. I've ordered in the past (also with a code) and the fit and quality was great.

  2. Thanks for the code! There were a few things in my shopping cart I had saved, waiting for a new code. One item is not showing up on the regular product page, but still says "in stock" in my cart. hmm...

  3. Can anyone provide fit information compared to J.Crew? I'm usually size 4 in skirts and pants, should I stick with a 4 in Land's End?

    Thanks!

  4. Yay, thanks! I just ordered a navy poplin skirt and one of the printed full skirts. :)

  5. I bought the slub jersey dress last time I had an LEC discount -- LOVE IT.

  6. OT but while we are talking other brands..if anyone wants some really cute clothes, the latest Garnet Hill catalog is packed full of lovelies:) FYI-don't forget to always search google for coupon codes/free shipping codes:)

  7. xoxo -- I find that Lands End runs a size larger than JCrew. Their bottoms are closer to JCrew sizing but their tops tend to run a full size up.

I've been so pleased with the items I've purchased from LE in the last six weeks or so. Amazing deals (their markdowns are crazy!) and have been able to always apply either free shipping or an additional % off (or both) to those orders.

Every order has included a postcard featuring another % off/free shipping promo code, which I have to admit, is totally getting the job done in terms of inspiring me to order again!

I've ordered a bunch of chinos pants from their sale section (I love that you can get them altered to whatever inseam you need without paying add'l) and also the short sleeve boatneck tee from LE Canvas, which I love. As long as LE continues with the great markdowns and the generous promotions, they're definitely going to snatch some of my $ away from JC. LE even sent a hand written notecard to me last week thanking me for my recent business (which I should probably take a sign to put away the debit card...) :)

  8. disco george: I have been eying that dress...how is it in terms of fit? Is the v-neck very low cut?

  9. a bummer but the offer specifically says: Excludes gift cards, special services and Lands’ End Canvas ... grr!

  10. Kate- I looked and it doesn't say anything about excluding LEC.

  11. Has anyone tried the poplin gingham shirt? The LE Canvas items I already have do run big (especially the tops, as mentioned), but the description of the gingham shirt says it runs small and to order one size up... I'm not sure if I should trust that. Any feedback?

  12. I also don't see anything in the details about Canvas being excluded. Full details:

  13. A, I'd definitely size up. I'm usually a 2 in JC perfect shirts (and the cotton check shirt), ordered the 2 in the Canvas gingham shirt and it was too small to button up.

  14. AppGal -- I'm pretty short and it hits about knee-length on me. The V is also kind of low on me, but I'm pretty flat-chested as well, so there's nowhere for V shapes to go but straight down on me.

It would probably look better on someone taller and/or someone who can fill out the top better! As it is, I just wear a half-cami and it's fine.

It's really comfortable and washed up nicely as well.

  15. Does Land's End ever offer % off coupons that can also be applied to sale or overstocks? Thanks! :)

  16. Scarlet,
Not that I have ever seen over the years. Just free shipping which is fine in my book as it is on any amount most of the time:)Also, they will reduce sale items more. That is what I tend to watch for instead.

  17. Jennifer, Desert Flower, Tastymoog: I hope you find some great items! The promo is almost too good to pass up. :)

xoxo: I found that I was the same size in J.Crew bottoms as I am in Canvas.

Ashley: Congrats on the skirt! I love it. :)

Disco George: I am so happy to hear you like the dress. Now I can't wait to get mine in the mail. :)

Sweetsy: Thanks for the tip! :)

SmrtyGrl: I agree that LE customer service is great (like the postcards, which are a nice touch. :)

AppGal: I was wondering the same thing! I hope the V-neck is not too low. ;)

Kate: It does include LE Canvas. I just placed an order with LE Canvas using this code the other day. :)

    KCost17: I agree! :)

A: I did a review of that top awhile back: Off On a Tangent: Land's End Canvas {free shipping & reviews are in!} I really love it, so much that I got two of them (the light and dark blue versions).

Silver Lining: Congrats on getting the Gingham shirt too! :)

Scarlet: I am not sure if they do. I haven't seen one for the past few weeks. Maybe during the after-holiday-sales though.

Genny: I agree that I have mainly seen free shipping for sale items too.

  18. I placed my first Land's End order today using the code. I ordered a heritage cardigan in hopes that it fulfill my urge for a new Jackie cardi. I like how the free shipping extends to Canada!

  19. A,

i wear a 0/pxs/p0 in jcrew button downs, and the le canvas the poplin gingham shirt in 0 fits me perfectly fine.

  20. Can anyone comment on the tuck front shell? I'm obsessing over it but I'm not sure how the fit is.

    Thanks!! :)

  21. The email I received from Lands' End says in two separate places that Canvas is excluded from this promotion. It's in the first part of the small print.

  22. Emily, the code worked for this Canadian. I used the code that Chloe posted.
    code: SAVE25AFF pin: 2799

  23. I just used FRIENDS25 with no trouble.

  24. I just placed my first LE Canvas order today and this discount applied. I got the poplin skirt, print skirt, and cotton scarf.

Also picked up some LE kids summer stuff for my daughters. LE kids is usually very well made and durable.

    Thanks for posting!

  25. Thanks for posting, I ordered from them for the first time yesterday- stuff for my husband and me. Saved over $80 between the shipping and the discount. W00t!

Really excited, I got sailor shorts, slim white jeans, and the V-neck boyfriend tee for myself. And I picked out a rugby shirt, soft polo, oxford shirt, and a pair of cargo shorts for my husband.

Can't wait til they arrive. :)

  26. Regarding sizing: I wear my usual JC size in LE Canvas and LE Modern Fit shirts, tees, polos and sweaters. I size down with LE original fit sweaters and tees, but I can't size down in the original fit button shirts or the buttons will gap (maybe because I'm 36dd?). The LE pants don't fit me properly in any size without alteration, so I don't bother with them.

I can verify that the code IS valid on LE Canvas. I placed an order on Friday that was exclusively LE Canvas. I ordered the scoop neck ruffle tank and tiered ruffle tank in several colors. They aren't on the website, for some strange reason, but they're available by phone.

  27. Jeanne,
Is there a picture of the tank anywhere or do you have an item #. Sounds cute:)

  28. maureen1125-
I have the Tuck Front Shell (the one from LE Canvas, right?). I just love it! I got the white one with the navy pattern. I can see wearing this with a lot this Spring and Summer.

I ordered my normal size (a 2) and it fit TTS. It has a side zipper, but I had no problems with it laying flat, and it looks quite flattering on. The only thing I might suggest is if you have a bigger bust, to maybe size up. The 2 fit me fine throughout (a little looser in the waist even, so it would hide a problem tummy nicely) but I can see where it would be a little tight in the chest if you are bigger than a 'C' cup.
But it's totally worth the price, even at FP, and even better with the FS and 25% off!

  29. Jeanne,
thanks so much. I remember seeing them both and wanting them so guess will order on phone. I am going to ask the rep what is up? Why aren't they on the canvas page!

  30. Thanks egyptomaniac - you've convinced me :) if only the green would popback in my size! I will probably go for the white and navy print.

  31. If anyone is interested, LOFT and Ann Taylor friends & family starts Tuesday - 30% off all merchandise with code FRIENDS. There's also a printable coupon for in-store.

  32. Thanks for posting this. I ordered the Canvas Hobo Bag....the picture has me totally intrigued and I hope I like it as much in person. I figure with the free returns at my local Sears, it's a no lose proposition. Thinking HARD about picking up a gingham shirt for my Mom, but I'm really not sure she'd dig seeing the bigger size.

  33. alexis, kcost - thanks! I placed an order too. I got confused because I swear, the email they sent me says * 25% off regularly-priced merchandise only.
Excludes gift cards, special services and Lands’ End Canvas. Offer cannot be combined with employee discount. Savings reflected at checkout. Ends 11:59 p.m. CDT Monday, April 19, 2010.

I'm not making it up!! haha. Anyway, the code totally worked on my Canvas order too so who knows! :)

  34. Alexis, I was wondering what you thought of the v-neck on the Smocked Slub Jersey Dress from LE Canvas. Now that you probably have, it is it too low? I'm thinking of ordering with today's promotion and was curious about you thoughts. I have big boobs so too low is a concern.

    Thanks in advance, Rebecca
    Sub.

  35. Hi Rebecca! I did get the Smocked Slub Jersey Dress last week and thought for $37 it was fine. (Definitely wouldn't pay the full price for it.)

Pros: The v-neck was not too low- it actually was perfect. The straps were fantastic- thick but not too thick. So you can wear a bra very easily without the straps showing. The fabric was a nice hefty jersey. Not see-through.

Cons: The shade of black was "meh". It kind of had a "worn-in" shade to it, that I wasn't a fan of. The skirt was fine, but could have been a bit fuller for my liking.

Overall, I ended up returning because of the cons I listed. Also, I was able to get the J.Crew's Jersey Promenade Gown in Grey last week. Which also tipped my decision to return the LE Canvas dress.

Hope this helps a bit! :)
