Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the RESORT & early SPRING sale, or to see some new SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I was at J Crew tonight and the Watercolor Pastiche skirt is marked down to $69.99 in store. Not sure if it's a new markdown, but it's still full price on the website. I also saw the Polished Slub pencil skirt in papaya marked down, but I can't recall the price.

  2. Has anyone seen the Claudette tote? How is the quality?

  3. I saw a few Tweed Contessa jackets today in a B&M sale section while I was out of town on Business-I believe they were size 0 & 2- not my size and I recall that someone was looking for this jacket??

If so e-mail me @ elisdav (at) hotmail (dot) com

  6. I have some returns to make, but I'm not sure if I'll have time to get to the mall this weekend. I do appreciate the reports of what has been marked down from everyone who does visit, so THANK YOU for posting your finds!

  7. Does anyone have a personal shopper that they really like (and use via email and the phone)? I've tried two so far and both have picked out the most hideous items ever.

  8. I'd love to go this weekend but not so sure. Thanks for the report on sale items.

  9. I'd be interested in any reports from the Asheville, NC (Biltmore Village) store!

  10. Please let me know what is up at any Raleigh or Durham NC stores if anyone goes. Thanks.

  11. The St. Louis Galleria store has plenty of vintage bateau tops in stock! If you don't want to wait for the June shipping date - or want to grab the retail-only neon pink version - you might give them a call.

  12. I have a post with a recap of the most recent markdowns, plus a few new ones. Click here to view. It includes a Super 120s dress down to $59.99 but still fp online.

A personnal shopper that is highly recommended in my area is
Maggie @ the Adventura Mall store. She is great. Her outfits are always well put together. She is also very easy to deal with.

That store phone # is (305)935-2739

  14. Does anyone know of an IRL photo of the linen Jaipur skirt that is retail only?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I've only gone to her once, so far, and she's not an online PS, but I really like Julia Grant at the Prince Street JC in Manhattan. She's tiny, but did a good job choosing tops that look good on a larger woman like myself. And she wasn't afraid to speak up when a color or style wasn't flattering, which was very helpful.

  16. I was going to buy the Pastiche skirt and the Bridget dress! If I bought them on line does the store give a price adjustment? Just curious. Not sure if I will get there this weekend.

  17. xoxo - if I had a camera, I would take a picture of the jaipur skirt. All I can tell you is that it's adorable - same print as the dresses and top. It's completely sold out at my b&m.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Jenni,
I noticed they are $69.99 on the website now. Will wait for them to go down more in price....

    ReplyDelete
  19. math teacher, thanks. My PS did order one for me from a B&M in California and is on the way. I couldn't have done it without the style information you provided. I'm sure I will like it, I love those prints and the colors. Just anxious to get a sneak peek. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Genny-
I thought about waiting for the Celosia to go down too but it's already sold out in the aqua color online In my size so I was afraid of missing out! Hope it goes down again for you though!

  21. Michelle Q - thanks so much for posting on the Watercolor Pastiche pencil skirt, I had my b&m put one on hold for me to pick up tonight. They did verify that it is on sale for $69.99. While I am there I will make a few returns that have piled up.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jenni,
Glad you got yours. I don't have a color preference as I already got a JC aqua sweater with the bow chiffon trim from the fall/winter line...so will wait and see:)I am too much of a bargain hunter anymore;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Marietta - you're welcome! Glad your store had your size.

I stopped back into J Crew again since I was at the mall and picked up a pair of the ripstop cargos. They are down to $19.99 in the store. Really cute on, too, but I had to size down 2 whole sizes! Crazy.

  24. if anyone sees the merino boyfriend sweater in store (and at the sale price), could you pretty please e-mail me? i won't be able to check the blog over the weekend and i am desperate for this sweater! looking for the heather carbon color in a medium.

    thank you!

  25. I stopped in today to finally pick up some Minnie pants and try on a few items. I loved the tiered bateau shell and ordered it when I got back home. Nothing else I wanted to try on was available, and there were very few new markdowns. Some cocktail rings and chandelier earrings had been marked down to $9.99. Lots of tuxedo tanks and spray art tees were available. I'd love to find the white polished slub pencil skirt marked down!

  27. Final sale hasn't really been updated significantly in the past few days... I'm wondering what the "end of final sale" really means? Could they get rid of it completely?

That would stink, as I essentially only buy from the online sale rack.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Girls- could somebody cllarify the prices on Celosia cardi at B&M, pls? I picked up one ne Melon yesterday and it was $69.99 (as on line). I saw several references to the price of $59.99. I know each store is different, but do some offer it at $59.99? Just curious..

    ReplyDelete
  29. I got my celosia cardi in navy in B&M last night for $69.99.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Slastena, I went to my B&M last night to pick up a celosia that I thought was going to be $59.99 b/c of a previous post, but theirs were only marked down to $69.99. I decided to wait.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I definitely paid $59.99 for my Celosia...i'm sorry that it seems my store is the only one like that! I'll never understand why they don't change the prices across the board!

    ReplyDelete
  32. The Celosias in my store were different prices for different colors... there was a melon-ish color for $59.99 and another for $69.99 (yellow). Go figure.

    ReplyDelete
  33. All Celosias at my B&M are $69.99, both the colors from last season (coral, melon, graphite) and the spring colors available on the website.

  34. Well fellow JCAs, I have to share my recent FS experience with you, as I believe it may well be the FS experience to beat all others!LOL
I received a FS package this week and when I went to wear the merino microsequin cardigan - collection piece - that I had ordered...to my horror...I FOUND 2 USED TISSUES IN THE POCKET! I have notified J.Crew via email to share this with them and am anxiously awaiting their reply. Can you believe this? For the most part, I have always had good luck with FS and have only just read here about others misfortunes - now I guess I'm part of the club!!!

  35. Stella: GROSS!!! Let us know how CS responds!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Stella: That is just terrible. Yowza. It is such a gorgeous cardigan...I know you won't go back for another one, as I wouldn't either. In fact, I am now very wary of popbacks. (I was before, but this is hands down one of the worst things I have heard happening with a popback.)

On a MUCH lighter note, Stacy London wore the silk-wool watercolor leopard dress on last night's episode of What Not To Wear. She looks amazing in it! (I am watching the episode right now, in fact.)

Of course, if that dress ever popped up again at jcrew.com, I would advise against buying it...who knows, it probably would have a ripped lining, or a stain, or some awful thing on it...and all this while there are still tags on it!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Stella, OMFG! I hope that they offer you something beyond the mere authorization to return the purchase.

OT: My violet dust skimmer pants arrived today. Love the color, but they are huge. I have been in denial, I guess, about how crazy the vanity sizing. I am so not a size 0, but JC thinks I am. I guess that if JC offers a 00 or XXS in an item, that should be a clue to size down even more.

Also OT: I had been grumbling a bit that the JC wool floral scarves were overpriced, but I received the Ann Taylor sheer wool scarf today and the JC scarves are so much nicer! Good thing I purchased the AT scarf during their 40% off everything sale.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The Tampa store had a size 4 Contessa jacket and a size 8 (I think) watercolor leopard dress. The also had a ton of the Super 120s Andres dress marked down to $59.99, but I decided to pass on that because it gaps quite a bit in the bust. Lots of Pastiche and black jacquard Nori skirts, ripstop cargos, t-shirts, etc. Lots of jewelry too, earrings and rings marked down to $9.99. A couple stained glass bikini pieces (and $10 off regular solid bikinis). Hope this helps someone!

Stella - GROSS! But a lovely sweater...what are you going to do?!

    ReplyDelete
  39. DIna: I noticed Stacy's dress, too! I love that show sooo much. Every time I watch it, I think to myself, I should pretend to dress sloppily for a few months so my husband can nominate me and I can go on a shopping spree! hehe.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Stella,

I totally understand your feeling. As a matter of fact, I spent sometime last week to write a letter and compile some items to show J.Crew how poor they handled returned items before reselling them to other customers. I was inspired by a recent incidence I mentioned last week. I hope I am doing something meaningful here.

    ReplyDelete
  41. dinagideon,

Do you know the worst thing is not you receive such an item? The worst thing is, when you return such an item, they accuse you wore it and broke it. That is how I was inspired.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Stella, holy moly that is a grody one! I'm sorry that happened to you, but I think you win the grossest award in the popback category in the (for now imaginary) JCA olympics. Poor Anonymous wins for "most insulting CS exchange."

I'm peeved at the email division of CS lately. I had a question about getting a packet of extra beads for a tee I got that had no tag or packet (I probably don't have to mention this was a popback, do I?) and they said they were "forwarding my query to the proper department" which equals buh-bye in my experience. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for another reply, that's for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I just have to chime in now that we are talking about popback stories. Stella, your's definitely takes the cake. That's just disgusting. I obviously wouldn't risk looking for another cardi to popback but I don't know if I'd keep that one either. I also understand what Anonymous is talking about. I just had to return some cords that popbacked bc the belt loop was totally ripped and I pointed it out to the cashier as my reason for returning them and he was nice about it but I also could not shake the feeling that he thought I ripped the cords. Popbacks are dangerous.

On topic: I just walked by the JCrew on 45th & Madison and saw a laser cut white dress with beige lining underneath. I didn't have time to go in the store to check it out in person so if anyone has seen this dress I would be interested in your reviews.
    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  44. CheesyGoodness, Do you know they have a new policy now? No accessory search for final sale items.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sorry, me again. Dina, thanks for the heads up on Stacy wearing the watercolor leopard dress on What Not to Wear. I love that dress so much so I love to see it in action. It's a stunner on an actual body but not so much on the hanger. (Your IRL pics on your blog got me to order it actually so thanks!)

The dress was also worn by Erika Christensen on the new show, Parenthood, a couple of weeks ago.

  46. A LONG while back--I remember someone posted about getting a popback pair of ladies pants (or shorts) that someone had not worn underwear, etc. Will leave the rest to your imagination. To me that was the worst I had ever heard.

My worst popback is the corduroy jacket that smelled heavily of smoke and I am allergic. It was really strong and bad and had obviously been worn.

I thought about buying two popbacks last week but I am so proud of myself for passing. Just too many problems and I don't want to chance it and have a problem yet AGAIN.

    ReplyDelete
  47. A bit off topic but...Does anyone have any advice as to the fit of the Pretty Ruffles Jersey Dress? Is it tts? big? small? If so email me oconnor.walston@comcast.net

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  48. i just got back from jcrew. got the vines perfect shirt on sale for 49, the marquee hobo on sale for 99 (!!!), and a clutch/wallet like thing on sale for 15 (in the watercolor potpourri print, which i love -- wish that skirt wasn't a mini)...

    ReplyDelete
  49. Stephanie, I tried that dress on a couple of weeks ago at my b&m. It is lovely, although based on the sa's reviews, you need to have a chest (which I do) and not much in the hip area (which I don't). I absolutely love the dress, but couldn't justify the money ($148 or $158). It also comes in a cocoa color and a medium pink. I am hoping that since it is body-specific, it will be around in my size after a couple of markdowns. It is also machine washable, which is a huge plus in my book. If you want to wear it with a cardi, it needs a shrug as even the jackie is too long and full for the dress. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  50. Wasn't someone looking for an Italian Boucle pencil skirt in honey glaze a while back? There is a NWT size 4 on ebay ending soon--only $45 right now!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Math Teacher: Thanks for the review. Sounds like I will be waiting for a markdown as well as I have the chest to fill it out but probably too much hip. Still I'm intrigued by this dress as it was covered up by a jacket and a belt in the window so I have no idea what the top even looks like. I will definitely check this out next time I am in the store.

    ReplyDelete
  52. oconnor.watson, there's a review of the Pretty Ruffles at the Pudding and the Post-Fab Princess blog (on the blogroll on the main JCA page.) She looks quite fetching in it, although in a perv-bait way. Post back if you try it, I haven't seen it in person yet.

Anon, that's just suck. I think if you're in a store and they're out of an item/size/color you want, the SA may be able to call for a search even if it's sale. They seem to be strict about the "we will find it" if it's a mere customer looking though. Terrible policy, very discriminatory against sale shoppers. I only buy full price once every year or two, if that, and JC has gotten *plenty* of my money regardless. They should try to keep all customers happy and buying.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Alexis- maybe you should have a new post so that we can vent about popback rejects? You'd think jcrew would read it and go and talk to the Quality Assurance people and get us some quality assurance...

    ReplyDelete
  54. For those of you with free shipping on your account thru a specified date...do you remember when the last day is? I thought it was 4/11 or 4/12, but I don't remember. I tried to find the info here on JCA but don't see it.

    Anyone...?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Stephanie, I didn't realize the top was covered when you saw it. It is strapless. Hope you get the chance to try it on.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Math teacher - I'm intrigued by the jaipur skirt, can you provide me with the style number/price? Do you know what the length is on the skirt? I'm loving this print but I haven't seen a skirt in my B&M.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Saw the Jaipur Skirt in the B&M today - it is the same style as the tiedye skirt, elastic waist and really short. The fabric is linen, lined in cotton, and it is $88. Too short for me, although it does have a 2" hem, so it could be lengthened if you wanted to. I took a (crappy) photo with my phone, but am unsure how to post it - any advice would be appreciated!

    ReplyDelete
  58. opheliasmom - would you mind sending it to my email? summerillablog@gmail.com. I'd love to see it.

  59. Hi JCAs - thank you all for your comments - I am back with news re: J.Crew's response to my 'merino microsequin misfortune'...shortly after sending my email to J.Crew, I received a voicemail from a CS rep apologizing profusely for this unfortunate situation. She has asked that I please call her back as she wants to speak to me about this; however, in the meantime, she has refunded my credit card for the amount of the sweater (and told me to keep it - eek!) and is sending me a gift card in the amount of $50.

Anxious to hear what you think of this response by J.Crew...

    ReplyDelete
  60. OT: There is some new competition on the block, not just for crewcuts, but for smaller sizes of JCrew too. I just got a catalog for johnnieB, Boden's catalog for the teens (age 10 and up) and it looks like the large size for girls is do-able for women as well (up to 66" tall, 34-36" chest, 30" waist, 38" hips, 32" or 34" length). Some of the smock tops and boys graphic tees are very cute...prices are a little more gentle than JC's...johnnieb. com

    ReplyDelete
  61. Summerilla, the style number is 27444, color LBE, WA7780. It is 17" long, but b/c it's elastic, you can wear it lower. When I tried it on, I wore it lower and it was about 1-2" above my knee (I'm 5'4"). It does have a nice hem, so you could make it longer. The edge of the fabric in the hem has ribbon along the edge to keep from fraying. Very well made. It is lined, no pockets, dry clean only. I refuse to wear a mini skirt, but this didn't feel like a mini. Super cute, and flew right out of my b&m. I did size down - they didn't have my regular skirt size, but sizing down worked great. Any thing else I can answer? It's really a great skirt - I hate paying full price, but this one was worth it to me.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Stella, wow, that is a surprisingly awesome response from the Crew! I hope this is how things will be handled from now on. I had a similar thing happen at Anthro with a similarly great solution, but NEVER such luck at JC. I would keep the cardi and maybe get it drycleaned before wearing it with the refunded money. Thanks for letting us know, it is great to hear the happy endings sometimes!

  64. Just returned from my B&M and no Watercolor Floral Pastiche skirt in my size ;( so if a kindhearted JCA sees one in size 0, please let me know ... and better yet if you have them put on hold for me =)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Wow! Since I last commented there have been some doozy popback stories. Yikes and double yikes.

Stella: The response by J. Crew sounds awesome. They SHOULD respond that way! I say get the cardi dry-cleaned and enjoy it. The dry cleaners should get all the "ick" out. If it still seems skeevy to you, maybe donate? I don't know...

Stephanie: Ooh, Erika C. wore it on Parenthood? I must have missed that, unless it is the one that I have on my DVR right now. I bet she looked amazing, too!

For those of you wondering about the jaipur skirt, I went to the J. Crew at Fair Oaks today (the new J. Crew--it is so pretty inside, all bleached wood and white walls) and tried it on. I fell in LOVE. I bought it in an 8 and though I could have gone with a 6, I liked the 8 because I could pull it down on my hips to make the skirt longer. The print is so lovely and the fabric is perfection for summer. It actually reminds me a lot of that pop-on linen skirt with the elastic waist from last summer (which I wore all the time).

For what it's worth, the store said that I bought the second to last one, so if you see it and you love it, get it.

  69. For anyone interested in a picture of the Jaipur skirt, I just posted one: http://turquoise22forpolyvore.blogspot.com/2010/04/jcrew-jaipur-print-skirt.html#

Super bummed that my 'we will find it for you' search was not a success. Apparently, every store who even received this skirt only got one size 12. Um. That is less than 50 skirts? Really? Everyone I spoke with seems to think that they will not be replenished either. Something about limited edition, etc. :(

    ReplyDelete
  70. Turquoise22, thanks for posting the picture of the Jaipur skirt. It is BEAUTIFUL! I was expecting it to be the print of the Jaipur swimsuit. So sad that right now I'm limiting myself to buying things I can wear to work because I don't need any more casual things. I'm sorry you couldn't find it in your size - one of any given size per store sounds ridiculous!

    ReplyDelete
  71. And thanks to turquoise22, I found a watercolor pastiche skirt in my size =)

    ReplyDelete
  72. I went it yesterday and bought several sale items (celosia cardigans, canvas tote in pink, pastiche skirt, rose vines shorts, watercolor potpourri scarf) -- what was great was I got an additional 10% off by using the coupon I received a week or so ago for giving my email (which they already have for sure!!).

It's the coupon discussed in this post: http://jcrewaficionada.blogspot.com/2010/04/get-on-jcrews-list-get-10-off.html.

Anon at 1:19 PM: I couldn't agree with you more that not only is it bad to get a defective item, but it is truly awful for any customer to receive a defective item and then be accused of causing it.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Fashion Ancient - Thanks!

Lauren PhD - The Jaipur tunic made it to the website at one point but is no longer there. Perhaps it sold out online.

  79. turquoise22, thank you so much for sharing the photo of the linen skirt. It is really pretty. This may sound a little crazy but it reminds me of an apron my grandmother used to wear, back in the day. Gives me a nostalgic feeling.

gigiofca, I believe the Jaipur tunic did sell out online. Last week there was only size 2 left online.
