Shop Madewell Online Now {+ free ship on jeans!)

A big "thanks!" to many of you, including David & Belle de Jour (in this post) as well as an Anonymous JCA, who shared the following exciting news.

Madewell is now available to shop online on their own freakin' e-commerce site!!! {wahoo!} Click here to visit & shop their site.

Madewell is also offering free shipping on all jeans. The fine details of this offer include:
Free shipping and free returns are valid on purchases of Madewell jeans only. Offer is valid on phone and online orders shipped via regular shipping (4 to 7 business days) to U.S. and Canada addresses only. Free ground shipping is applied automatically at checkout. This offer cannot be combined with any other promotion and cannot be applied to previous purchases. Offer is valid for a limited time only and is subject to change without notice.
I honestly did not think this day would ever come. J.Crew Corporate has talked about launching an e-commerce site for the past two years. The deadlines for the launch date would come and go without any changes. So it's a delightful surprise to see it has finally arrived!

What are your thoughts on Madewell launching its new fully-functioning-stand-alone e-commerce site? Will you be shopping Madewell online? If so, please share! :)

  1. Does anyone know what Madewell sizing is like? Is it about the same as J. Crew or does it fit smaller? Thanks!

  2. Hey Lisa! I shop at Madewell frequently and find that the sizing is somewhat similar for tops (I'm a 0 or XS in J. Crew), dresses might run a tad small so while I take a 0 in J. Crew dresses, I'm more comfortable with a size 2 at Madewell. Pants--I don't even know where to begin, somehow, I'm a 24 or 25 in Madwell jeans or short (but I'm always a 26 at J. Crew). Hope this helps!

  3. @Lisa- If you are on the curvier side, I think you should size one up from Jcrew sizes. Its the case with me. I am 26 denim size at Jcrew, but need a 27 for Madewell jeans.

  4. Sooooo excited, I'm going to check it out right now. I've always loved the way they style their outfits...very inspirational. I hope there are going to be lots of promos as they try to get the site up and running. Free shipping and returns on jeans is a good start!

  5. Can someone school me on Madewell. There isn't a store near me and I've only heard about it through this blog. I just browsed the site and found a couple of cute items. It seems to me to be way more casual than JC.

  6. It's about time! How exciting (not so exciting for my wallet however)!

  7. Note: The 1-888 number was NOT working from Canada as of this AM. If that's still the case, you CAN call J Crew's 1-800 and ask to be transferred. They were working on it, once I informed them there was a problem.

  8. As other JCAs mentioned, Madewell sizes tend to run smaller than J Crew sizes. I bought a couple of button-ups from Madewell in XS and they tug and gap; whereas I've consistently worn J Crew XS with no problem. I am a 32C, just FYI. Curvy girls beware!

  9. Weird and obscure question perhaps, but can someone tell me if the larger sized jeans are normally available in the 34 inseam? They seem to offer the 34 inseam in smaller sizes but for 31 and 32 waist they are only showing the 32 inseam. I want to order slightly bigger than I would for J Crew but I need a longer inseam, so want a 31/34 which they don't have available.

  10. What a pleasant surprise. I had originally heard that the site would launch on June 1st. I have to agree that Madewell sizing tends to run a tad smaller than J.Crew. I'm usually a S in Madewell, whereas I'm XS/0/2 at J.Crew. I love J.Crew matchsticks and take a 27S/26R in those, and at Madewell I am 27/32. I have the rail straights from when Madewell first launched and have worn mine to death so much so that they are ripping in the rear. Good thing they are offering free shipping on denim. Anyone know if the student discount is valid with the free shipping promo?

  11. I like the surplus pants, but I don't want to pay the high shipping costs ($10.50). I wonder if/when Madewell will start using coupon codes.

Moreover, the blogger I saw wearing them is 5'7". I'm not sure how the cropped pants would work on me, since I'm 5'4".

  12. Yesterday I ordered the Sumatra shirt dress from the Wanderlust collab, so I guess I'll see how their process goes. The checkout was a little wonky and a couple of times sent me back to Madewell's front page. As someone else mentioned, the shipping is a little on the high side ($12.50 for me, ugh), so I probably won't be ordering much unless there's a code.

Honestly, I'm probably not going to consider ordering again until Alexa Chung's collection is up in the fall -- some of her pieces were really great. A lot of the Madewell pieces look interesting, but then when I think about it, they really don't fit in with the rest of my wardrobe. My style is less trendy than a lot of the pieces up there.

  13. @Mia -- When I've shopped in store, Madewell generally has all sizes in 34". You might try calling -- maybe they can find it for you in a store. I assume what's listed on the site is warehouse stock.
