J.Crew Email: 20% off when you open a J.Crew Credit Card

"Thanks!" to GoldCoastGal, as well as Rebecca (in this post), who shared the following email listing the benefits of signing up for a J.Crew Credit Card.

J.Crew is also letting customers know about their latest promotion. Open a J.Crew Credit Card and get 20% off your first purchase. This offer expires 8/7/10.

It is interesting to note that J.Crew states "All branded items excluded from this promotion". They mean business! ;)

  2. I took advantage of this promo a couple years ago at this time of year to buy a bunch of fall things after my first child was born - and so began my obsession with JC and my expanding credit card bill with them! :) I know it's not much, but I do love the rewards card a few times a year to pick out something special. But, hey J.Crew... I want free shipping ALL the time!!

  3. I've had a card for several years, and since I'm kinda hungry for a promo I've asked JC a couple of times this week about these mythical "cardmember-only" sales: "We sometimes let our cardholders know about percentage off promotions a day before anyone else." Does that sound like a cardmember-only sale to you?

This initial 20% is great, and the rewards are OK, but don't apply for the card in the hope of getting special access to sales.

P.S. Lol, my confirmation word is "shiz"

  4. I got my card during the regular 10% period but when I told them no, they increased it to 20%.

Also, I was in the Mission Viejo CA store about 2 months ago and they offered a customer 40%. I was so envious, I hardly paid attention to my transaction while I listened the customer say no. So if anyone is interested you might see if you can get a higher percentage, it seems negotiable.

The Mission Viejo store is pretty empty most of the time so I'm not sure if that caused them to offer a higher discount.

  5. Twenty percent off is a pretty good deal. I opened my account when it was a straight 10%. Frankly, the only reason I have a J. Crew card is the convenience and the rewards. I get some good sized rewards and I like that. I pay it off every month so their interest rate doesn't concern me. I do wish there were more actual perks, like some free ship incentives, or actual special events for cardholders only.

  6. I would get a card if they offered free shipping all the time. Until then, what's the point. I can wait for anything that's full price to go on sale.

  7. Hexicon, lol. That's too funny. I specifically waited until a 20% promo to sign up for a J Crew card. I felt like I was in some sort of special club. After realizing the privates sales are so private that I'm not invited or altogether non-existent, lack of free shipping, etc...I canx it. They kept raising my limit because I paid the balance off straight away. It seriously drove me nuts! I have things set up with my credit score in mind. I don't need a higher limit, thanks. If they had more benefits, I would reconsider opening. Heck, they don't even give you a birthday discount. I am currently happy using my MC that has rewards on it for multiple things.

  8. I signed up last year during a 20% promo. I agree with others that the card isn't really worth bothering with.

  9. If they had free shipping for card holders I would open one I think!
