Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER & FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. I made it to my B&M Saturday evening and was pleasantly surprised. We have officially become a LUXE store and received many of the new shoes, handbags, and collection pieces. I saw numerous pieces I would like to have, but only came home with the Marled Shawl-Collar cardigan in Saddle, Paris Tee, and Beady Falls tee in an in-store only pinkish color. I posted pics of all 3 items here on my blog. :)

  2. Fabulous Florida Mommy,

Congrats on your store being LUXE. I am sure you will be able to get all those new pieces eventually:) I think you came home with 3 great pieces.

I found my "bounty" at Talbots. Am going back there again today.

  3. Started weekend meaning to rationalIze closet (ok, closets)
with appropriate coffe breaks leafing thru fash mags for thoughts on what to buy/keep/store/throw. Not fun but necessary.

Sunday morning brought NY Times Style Magazine, with a 2-page ad from JC! Right page: Lovely black lace dress, jewel neckline, 3/4 sleeves, skirt that covers most of model's butt so would probably cover some of mine. Accessorized by 2 pairs of gloves, 1 leather, 1 ribbed gray knit. Knit theme repeated in socks, can't tell what the boots with 3 straps are made of. Dress is topped with large shaggy sleeveless vest. I would have added plastic pearls & artificial flowers but maybe JC is going for subtlety this fall?

Left page: very subtle. All black. Gray type in center says JCREW, small white type says "collection" -- this is why I couldn't scan -- AND AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE PAGE IN teeny tiny type: LET THE OBSESSION BEGIN...

Could J.Crew be developing a sense of humor?

  4. "Let the obsession begin..." "...with stalking items on the website, finding a FS code, trying, returning, retrying, receiving wrong items, returning, reading the JCA blogs to get an idea of fit/quality, stalking some more, finally receiving the right item, requesting a price adjustment (it's gone on sale already!), having it fall apart after one wear wash, going onto JCA and proclaiming to be done with JC, all in time for the next rollout!"

  9. Visited my local B&M this Saturday telling myself I was there to just take a quick look at the crewcuts sale rack to pick something up for back to school for the child...

But did take a spin through the women's of course...lots of new handbags...I got to see the new Rhodie satchel IRL...I think it's pretty fab but as with my complaints with most of jcrew's bags, it's just too big. Dragging that thing around makes me look like I am packed to take off for the weekend. Also, it has this buckle that wraps around the whole bag which I think you'd have to keep unbuckling and buckling which would drive me mad.

There are about 6 or 7 things in my shopping back that I REALLY want from the new fall roll-out and it totals over $800 before shipping and tax...so going to have to pare that down a bit.

I REALLY want the bonbon coat (In russet) and the new zipper gloves (in black). These may be the two things I actually pull the trigger on.

I also tried on the glen plaid minnies in-store last week and they fit so much better than the other minnies on me...loved them. They are also a contender. I also really like the wool flannel Marion coat quite a bit.

I am really in love with quite a few offerings this time, loved the catalog online and am really finding it hard to not go overboard spending...I am sort of surprised by all the dislike I am hearing lately. Color me drunk on the crewlade, I suppose.

  10. I received some things late last week and among the items was the Banquette dress in seaport blue. I have to agree with Hexicon's recent comment - the color is nothing special. I was hoping the color would be brighter and prettier (by my taste).

I have two stretch flannel Banquettes from last winter in gray and black and they are nice, basic dresses that I liven up with colorful scarves to help cover my cleavage. I wouldn't have bought both but I got them when they went on sale in store for about $80. I can't justify the seaport as well if I'm not thrilled with it so back it goes.

BTW, on me it bared just as much cleavage as the W09 stretch flannel versions, which is way too much for the office without a scarf or cami to add coverage. I didn't think the neckline had come up at all on this season's dress.

  11. Patsy, you're not alone, I've found many things I like. The quality is a challenge, perhaps everywhere but certainly with JC. I've placed several orders and need to check everything when they arrive but I sure love many of the looks and the catalog overall. There is no place in my world where shorts and tights would look normal but I like to look at the creative styling.

  12. The schoolboy was a little too classic, like a Talbots piece. But I think the Benny blazer is darker charcoal color, is a great blazer -- slimming, great fabric and still modern. The dot-chiffon Betsy wrap cami is lovely neutral tones don't make it feel excessively frilly. if you've a smaller waist it'd be lovely since it tends to emphasize waistline. The Rimini is sleek and sophisticated on anyone, but it might be more interesting with a tie and paper poplin like I've seen in online pictures. My favorite part of it is how you can play with the zipper, unzipping the top and bottom a bit to give a different look. It'd probably be slimming on anyone. I don't like the pictures of any of the three online, but when you put them on, they all look pretty good.
