J.Crew Spotted in Marie Claire

"Thanks!" to Penny (check out her lovely Penny. LA blog), who not only let us know about a few J.Crew items being spotted in the latest issue of Vogue, but also scanned the images for us to view! (Click on the image to see it larger.)

The image on the left shows a laced tank top that will retail for $228.00. It is most likely an upcoming item from J.Crew's Collection line.

The image on the right shows Katie Holmes wearing a Fenton for J.Crew necklace as a bracelet. What I can't get over is the trend the magazine article is trying to push: a tank/tee under a party dress. Hmmm. Looks cute on Mrs. Cruise but I am not sure it would work in reality.

What are your thoughts on J.Crew's Collection line? Do you like the tank/tee under dress trend? If so, please share! :)

  1. The tank is pricey, but it is an elegant and timeless piece.

I'm not jumping on this particular layering trend either, but agree Katie would look great in a sack! :)

  2. I use to subscribe to MC in my 20's. Clearly I'm aged out of their demo ;P Not seeing the love of layering tanks under dresses thus. Been seeing it a bit in the Spring runway shows. I'm sure the kids can rock it. ITA with ABC, Katie would look good in just about anything, even that sequined sweatshirt, haha.

  3. Love the lace tank. I hope they offer a less expensive version like they did the sequin belle skirt.

The shell from BR in the second pic has been out for awhile now and is actually on sale at this point.

  4. Btw, the website updated and the small new arrivals rollout is online now. My PS says the big November launch will be October 14th as they gear up for the Holidays.

  5. The lace tank looks a lot like the new lace skirt that is currently in stores and I have seen in black only.

Oh, and those Thakoon shorts are the perfect complement to the Seine vest ...

  6. I love all the shearling. Seems I'm not made to live in Canada and I'm perpetually cold so anything warm and wooly is appealing.

When I see tops worn under strapless dresses I wonder why the person chose to go strapless and not just wear a dress with more coverage if that's what you want. I've never seen a case where it enhances the look. Katie is beautiful. The outfit, not so much.

  7. I saw that tank yesterday!! It is really pretty. It's merino, which I guess is why it's so pricy. I didn't think there was a collection label, but I could be wrong. For some reason, it seemed a little shapless on the hanger but I could be totally wrong about that.

xoxo, I don't get tops under strapless either.

  8. In the 90's tees under skinny strapped tops was very in style. Now the style is tanks or shirts under strapless.

Not saying a "get it" either but nothing too "new" about the trend.

  9. That laced tank top is pretty but not the price tag.
I guess the layered tee look can take the dress further than special occasions but it always looks great on models and celebrities.

  10. I saw the tank and I thought it wass very pretty irl. Did not even want to try it at this price, but on the other hand, after the $600 antique lace pieces of the past that sold out in hours, it may seem cheap to some fashionistas out there :)

  12. JCAs, those of you who have H&M in your city, can you keep a lookout for the camel dress that is also pictured in this Marie Claire layout (next to the lace tank)? The H&M in my small city won't be getting it because the price point is too high. It's exactly what I'm looking for! If you spot it, please email me at mrsnonia@aol.com.

  13. Desert Flower, that's a lot for an H&M dress. You think it's Lanvin for H&M? Hmm...I'll ask the mgr next time I go
