J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Marietta & Irina, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} Of course, Crewcuts got updated too.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. Love the Cashmere Cowlneck. I didn't see it in my store yesterday, but hopefully soon. I tried on the blue Sunnie Pencil Skirt and posted pics
    here.

  2. I can't find the cardigan featured in this email. Anyone have any ideas?

  3. I am still on the search for a winter coat. My Stadium Cloth Elements coat arrived yesterday and after my husband's comment that it looked like a dressy version of a fisherman's yellow hooded raincoat, I decided that wasn't the look I was going for. It's going back today along with an ivory peacoat from Talbots that also arrived yesterday. It is too big, not as pictured on the web, and it has a horrible odor, like rotten eggs. Yuck!

Now I am trying to decide between the Colletta coat with Thinsulate in black or the Stadium Cloth Boulevard Trench in either black or sandstone. I will be waiting for a sale or coupon code though. Anyone care to weigh in on which coat they like better or find to be a better buy? TIA! :)

  4. I was looking for that cardi as well, Kristin! Nowhere to be found...

Overall, unimpressed with this tiny rollout. And of course, my full shopping basket went away with it.

  5. Does anyone know the name or where to find the sweater in the e-mail photo -- the gray, ruched sweater -- looks like longer version of Maya? LOVE this! Ooops...looks like others are looking, too. What gives JC?

    ReplyDelete
  6. those looking for the sweater in the email: go to the sweater page on the website click on the top image (which is the same one) and it takes you to the sweater. :)

  7. I wasn't expecting a new rollout at all. Didn't we just have a big one last week?
Thanks burntphotograph. The not-to-be-found cardigan is another demonstration of the fact that they are really bad at IT. Anyway, it's $89.50 and is not part of the promo so we can all wait that they figure it out.
Why the new sweaters are excluded from the promo? Do they want us to buy or not? Silly ....
On the other hand I am really liking the new drapey sequin tee. Finally a LONG SLEEVED embellished tee (and priced decently).

    ReplyDelete
  8. What happened to the new Cashmere Cowlneck? It seems to have disappeared from the site already.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Ema - the drapey sequin tee is the only thing I am interested in from this rollout. I ordered the heirloom pink. :-)

  10. Daisy: good question. When I go to the link it previously existed at, I get the "we're sorry, this item was so popular, it sold out" message! Highly doubt that's true.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think I'm going to return the sequin tank and get the long sleeve one. I really like that. I also like the silk Vivie top in the plum color. But I do have so many tops like that from previous seasons. Also, I returned my Icon wool coat. The material just seemed too cheap to warrant that price, even w/the discount I got it with.

I'll be curious to hear reviews of the Boulevard coat. I imagine the fabric is no better than the Icon coat, but maybe... Also, has anyone here gotten the McAlister wedge boots? Do you like them? What about the Langfords? TIA.

  12. I am really hoping that they come out with a good sweater dress for this winter (and one that is a decent length!) I am kicking myself that I didn't get the Silvie or the other one from that season with the t-neck...what was it called?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I honestly don't see anything new except the sweater in the email.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Maybe I'm the only one having issues?? I click on the sweater at the top of the page and nothing happens, except the image moves to another new arrival (coat, ruffled top). No link to the new sweater for me. I can see the name of it and tried searching, but nothing. *sigh*

  15. I'm almost positive the sequin mesh bell skirt was in the sale section of my J Crew yesterday when I went. I didn't look closely at the price though so maybe they were placed there by mistake because it's still full price online.

I did pick up a black felted wool mini on sale for $49.99 so I was pretty pleased about that :)

  16. Nicole,
The Boulevard trench is very nice and more substantial fabric than wool icon trench. I really liked the fit. I tried on the black and sandstone. Black was very chic. Sandstone washed me out but it is a pretty color. It is not camel at all more beige, like heather saddle color in sweaters. Oh, I know a lot of you are tiny, but for those looking at bigger sizes, I tried 6 and 8 on and 8 was 2 inches longer than 6, knee length on me (5'7") and significantly more flared. hth.

  17. For those of you looking for a cashmere cowlneck, ideeli has magaschioni cashmere cowlnecks on sale today for $99.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Jruby18, I posted before about MacAlisters, they are very nice and comfortable but not worth the price imo.
I got Coach Cassy wedges for less and they are pretty and comfy as slippers.
I do like Noelle suede and leather lace-up booties from the new rollout. I am on the lookout for black lace-up booties but again, for this price I can get designer shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I like the look of the Muse tank and the Sterling Jacquard pencil skirt.

I see sequin pants are back in black this time, and also leather pants priced at $1350. I thought leather pants went out with the 80s.

The all-over sequin top -- how does one wear something like that without damaging all the sequins on the arms? J/C

And forgot to mention on this before, but what the heck is that Silk Jacinta vest?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Marietta - even though I just bought a giant cart full last week, I am love the drapey sequin tee too! Heirloom Pink is gorgeous... but I'm wondering if it will wash me out. Fair & blonde here, how about you?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Stacy, I tried the heirloom pink in the tank. I am fair and blonde too, and it did wash me out. It's very beige-y. I would opt for pewter or black. I just order the tee in the pewter.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Am I the only one who has no new arrivals? no note of them on the site, no cashmere cowl neck? Is it because I am on firefox or west coast?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Stacy - I am brunette, so that's mainly why I opted for the heirloom pink... although I really like all 3 colors! I may end up getting another one if it hits sale at any point.

I have the sequin tank in the olive (love!), too.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Nothing that interesting for me. Thank goodness for my wallet. It maybe a different story when I actually get to check them out.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @gem twin: if it wasn't for this blog I wouldn't have known about the new arrivals. I keep signing up for emails and I never seem to get any notifications. I'm using IE, and had to click through the New Arrivals and through each category to see this tiny new rollout. Like others have said, only a dozen items or so, I'm totally underwhelmed. The link to the Cashmere cowlneck brings you to the "this item is so popular it's sold out" message. This either means JC is still updating the site or inventory is having issues. Or both.

OT, LEC has a good size rollout (for them). Site got updated overnight. Drooling at a few things over there.

    ReplyDelete
  26. OT: Does anyone have the long Benny blazer? I recall someone on here talked about getting one. Can you comment on the fit and quality?

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  27. The sweater in the email is the
Merino ruffled strata cardigan, Item #32986. $89.50. I found it using a Google search on the name of the sweater. Weird things about it though, putting the item number in the J.Crew search field doesn't bring it up, nor by name, and the 20% promo isn't being applied.

Website glitch? Or they don't want the 20% applied to it?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks Cass & Marietta! Dare I buy more sequins? Pewter is in the cart... We'll see if I checkout today.
Rose, my Jacinta Vest is on its way. I'll let you know my take on it when I try it on.

  30. I'll be ordering the drapey sequin tee. Glad to have sleeves on one of these tops. Too bad they didn't to the olive color...ordering Shadow.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I realize it's not a new arrival, but can anyone offer comments on the Gemini hobo? I love the look of pebbled leather, it reminds me of the Borge Garveri bags. I especially like the silver hardware instead of the gold that J.Crew has been using forever. Anyone see this one IRL? Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I called CS about something else and asked about the strata sweater. First they said it was sold out. I pointed out that it had just come out today. Then they said oh, it's not available yet but we can do a pre-sale. I had them do a pre-sale with instructions to apply the 20% sweater promo and the free ship code (I ordered 2 so it was over $100); not sure if they were only willing to do this b/c I was having probs with the other order I was calling about. In any event, we shall see if they do actually apply the 20% and free ship when they process the order.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Is JC messing with us? I don't see anything new except a couple coats. Admittedly, my eyes glazed over after a couple scrolls of grey-tan-ivory-grey-tan-ivory

    ReplyDelete
  34. No one mentioned the blazecoat? I love it! It sounded weird when it was previewed before, but it looks really nice, it has an interesting cut and looks like good fit. I am really into the olive moss, if it really is as brown as it looks, and not more olive. I am really wanting a medium/dark brown coat, and this one is so interesting! And decently priced, too, for a coat.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I just receive my coats today.Double cloth style. Surprise me! ( little nervous about the color)But BIG different from website. All the colors posted in website are too bright, in fact they are prettier in person. Please offer FREE SHIPPING as regular, no code needed. That's way we'll not hesitate to shop on-line, esp. with online-exclusives, more chance to try new items.
By the way, the coats this year weren't made in China. The fabric texture, color, details more prettier (not too much, more classic but still stylish)I'm happy with my purchase. Can't wait to wear them in coming cold days.

    ReplyDelete
  36. OT, BR has their spring/summer fashion show available to view on their FB page. Longer hemlines are coming back!! They are just below the knee and very classy-looking. There are also some TDF floral prints.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Carnivore Girl - I am actually wearing my Benny today. I think it runs a size big - I'm normally a 6 in jackets to accommodate my shoulders, but I took a 4 in the Benny. I really like it - comfy, casual, slouchy in a good way. It wouldn't be worth full price for me as it's only partially lined and is pretty casual. I bought it in-store for less than half price ($70), which I'm quite happy with. Not sure if they still have them in store or not. Last I heard though, they were like $50 now in store.

Gigi also did a review on her blog in the last week or two.

    HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  38. So, does anyone know what FABULOUS lipstick the model is wearing? I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Amy-Elizabeth: maybe if you emailed CS they could let you know what brand/color the lipstick is?

    ReplyDelete
  40. amy-elizabeth, you mean the red lipstick? I think in the catalog it says it's a Nars (don't remember which shade but it's in there)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I called to order the cashmere cowlneck and have the 20% taken off and they told me it is sold out and no more have been ordered!
I find it hard to believe that in one hour all sizes and colors sold out.....i'm sure it will be there in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks, Amanda! I dread going to B&M but I will make an exception for a great discount!

    ReplyDelete
  43. mini: I called CS about the cashmere cowlneck. The woman I spoke to said they had quite a few in one of the New York stores. So they did a store search for me and within an hour I got an email saying they found one and shipped it to me.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thanks starry I will call agian. Did they give you the 20% off and free shipping with code?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well I called again and was told all stores are sold out too......really

    ReplyDelete
  46. mini: Sorry to hear that. It seems really strange!

    ReplyDelete
  47. mini, i think this is total BS. same thing happened to me with a dress that 2 days later magically appeared in all sizes and now, 6 months later is still available in sale section.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Carnivore Girl - I have the Benny blazer as well, and agree that a smaller size fits better. I think it was designed to be worn slouchy, but I prefer a closer fit. I purchased the Benny for $50 in store about a month ago - it's flattering, soft, cozy, and retains its shape well. I've worn mine on long days at work, and there isn't any pilling or weird stretching that I've had with some other blazers (it's 100% wool). It's also warm enough to wear as a 'jacket' with a scarf on colder days, but not too warm to wear inside, too. Hope that helps. :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Just in case if anyone was wondering - the best thing I bought all year at J.Crew is the Legionnaire Vintage Boots that just came yesterday. Fits true to size, Made in Italy, comfy right out of the box, great leather.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I love the new cardi featured in the email. Wonder why the 20% isn't being applied to it? Maybe b/c it's a hidden item that they don't want to sell with the 20%? If that's the case, shame on them for sending the email out today. I also like the sequin tee, but have no idea where I'd wear it. I'm holding out for the haya sequin sweatshirt. I can't figure out why it costs so much more when it has sequins only on the front (and not all over) and the new tank and tee have sequins all over everywhere and costs much less. :( I am dying for the haya, but refuse to pay that much (especially since it's not really a sweatshirt).

    ReplyDelete
  51. Amanda
Do you have an item number for your boots...didn't find
Legionnaire boots - curious about them! Thanx!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ema and Marietta - CS and a Google search says "Nars Red Square." I know I'll be wearing that all winter!

    Thanks for the help girls!

    I love JCAs so much!

    ReplyDelete
  53. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Cashmere cocoon jacket, have sent out my PS to search for it. Has anybody seen it IRL, tried it on or bought it (lucky you!)?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Mmmm I love the cashmere cowlneck too. I am really on the camel bandwagon this year ... never having worn it before at all. :)

OT - has anyone tried GAP cashmere? They have a dolman-sleeve camel sweater that looks pretty online. Their cashmere also has some good reviews. Being in Australia, I can't pop in to the store to have a look for myself! But with the frequent promos I might be tempted ...

    ReplyDelete
  55. I really hope the longer hemline trend goes away FAST. I hate skirts below the knee and loose, the look is so matronly. It's so true that with fashion they literally keep changing trends so that people keep having to buy, and so that nothing lasts without somehow looking outdated. I've had a long day and I'm sick of it, grrrrrr.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Cass - thank you for the ideeli and BR video heads-up!

AppGal - I saw a cashmere sweater dress yesterday in new arrivals but today it seems to be gone. What's up w/ stuff disappearing so quickly? It had a crewneck, long sleeves and above-the-knee but not super-mini length. Colors were black and olive.

There are a lot of sweater dresses around ATM - the ideeli sale Cass mentioned has some cute silk/cashmere ones. BR also just came out with a faux-wrap knee-length style (wool/viscose) that looks sophisticated.

    ReplyDelete
  57. whew...ok I thought I was going crazy this morning because I noticed a few things previously in the sale section e.g. Jayne Platform Heels disappeared. They were definately not sold out because last night when I checked they still have almost all sizes available in all colors.

Another website "glitch"?? JCREW, this is just getting old, please give us a new problem to b*tch about.

Anyway, re: new rollout, nothing excites me.....which in a way I'm kinda glad because it means good news for my wallet =)

I am however intrigued by the Sequin Tee (I can't help it that I am a girl and I am just mezmorized by everything sparkly). Does anyone have good styling ideas? I'm not sure how to downplay a sequin tee so that it's more appropriate for day time or even for work?

AND lastly, a big thank you to those ladies who found the lovely lipstick shade by Nars, I was curious about it too when I saw it in the catalogue!!! I am definately gonna go check out the lipstick myself this weekend!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Thank you, Ajc! I returned my Talbots coat and my JCrew Stadium Cloth Elements coat today at the store and ended up trying on both the Colletta coat and the Boulevard Trench. I loved the Boulevard Trench!!!! I picked it up in a size 2 in black. I feel so pretty in it! I got the 20% off outerwear promo plus they applied the 10% off from opening a new JCrew card last week (even though I used it previously on the Elements coat but returned it). I know the price would've probably dropped but I didn't want to chance they wouldn't have my size or color. I am very happy with it!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. the factory store online has new arrivals too!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Charlotte, I find the longer hemlines (the ones I saw are not loose and frumpy, still form fitting) refreshing after several seasons of ridiculously short skirts and dresses that have no versatility because you can't wear them to work. At least with the longer hemlines, the taller ladies are happy and the more petite ladies can have them hemmed as they please. Mini skirts and dresses leave no options. I can't tell you how many otherwise lovely skirts and dresses from JC I have not even bothered to try on because I just know they will be obscenely short on me.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Amen, Cass. I'm only 5'5" and the short hemlines are ridiculous. You can always hem shorter, but you can't add length!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Rose, Stacy, I have seen and tried on the Jacinta vest. I really liked it. Nicely made, if a bit overpriced. Silk lined in cotton. If you're on the tall side, you might find somewhat cropped, and if you're petite, you may find that the straps are a bit long. Other than that, I would say it runs true to size.

    ReplyDelete
  63. For those of you asking about the red lipstick, a customer service rep told me it is Kat Von D (brand) and the shade is "a-go-go." Yuck--don't think I can buy anything connected to that woman. I was hoping it was Nars!

    ReplyDelete
  64. In case anyone is wondering: tavern green, in person, is closer to the "dried parsley" color Crew shows online than the vibrant mint hue that "tavern green" is pictured as. Still a nice fall shade, for sure, but not as bright as I'd expected.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Charlottesometimes, I know that skirt length preferences are very personal. I'm almost 5'8" and the skirt lengths that particularly J. Crew (but also BR and AT) have been doing are much too short for me, particularly for work. I need a 24" pencil skirt, and if retailers would be kind enough to offer it in a petite length too then my shorter sisters don't have to hem. I am all for a variety of lengths being offered, though, because as I said this preference is very personal.

I must say that I've never been called matronly in my pencil skirts, although many of them come to the middle of my knee cap or even a smidge below.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ooh J.Crew! I got another email today from them - turns out that the lipstick is not Nars Red Square but Kat Von D - a Go Go. So, looks like I'll be getting two lipsticks to play with!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Last night when i clicked at the top of the page with the new sweater it took me to the product page and it showed the 20% off discount price and a ship date of nov 9. I ordered the dark seaweed to replace the infinity cardigan which i found too long for my frame (i'm 5'2"). I love the color and can't wait to pair it with my new sequined tank in olive like it is shown on the catalog.

The lipstick. I have the Kat Von D a go-go and i love it. It's quite bright and it is definitely more orange than red. I like to wear it with minimal make-up, and mostly with pastels, camels, light colored clothing so as not to look too harsh.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Desert Flower, I did not say pencil skirt, I said longer loose skirts, like a bell shape. And I don't think anyone would ever tell anyone else, to their face, something nasty about their outfit.
