Lauren Hutton's Most Wanted {her never-going-out-of-style pieces}

"Thanks!" to so many of you, including Awakening my wardrobe, who shared the following feature on J.Crew's website.

Lauren Hutton is no stranger to J.Crew. Just last year she was featured modeling their clothes in their catalog (refer here for more). So J.Crew brought her back to hand pick her nine "never-going-out-of-style pieces" which are available here, as well as shown below.

I admit it: I love seeing her again! Ms. Hutton has a certain style that I enjoy. I especially love her one quote:
"Fashion is what you're offered four times a year. Style is what you pick out of that fashion... It's what you make of it once you've learned what to accept and ignore based on what best suits you."
Here's to hoping that we will see more of Ms. Hutton in J.Crew!

What are your thoughts on J.Crew bringing back Lauren Hutton? Do you like Laurent's nine picks? Do you own any of them? If so, please share! :)

  1. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her coming back to give her favorite choices. I like it as a balance to Jenna's picks which can sometime be wonky.

Some may say Ms. Hutton's choices are boring, but I think they're classy and timeless. The clothes don't wear her, she wears the clothes. Ms. Hutton in past interviews comes across to me as being comfortable with her body and confident, excited to see what life brings (how many 60 something ladies do you know who ride cross country on their motorcycle then pop up in Vogue?

I was excited to see I already have the iced lilac cashmere tee, the navy suit (mine is pinstripe) and a comparable white blouse. I'd like to get the reve tee when it goes on sale. I'd love to see her featured quarterly if not in each monthly catalog.

  2. I am thrilled but only wish they would show more variety of size, color and age throughout the regular women's catalogs like they have done in the men's section!

  3. I agree with her that navy can be much nicer than black.

  4. Love her! I'd love to see a retrospective of all the shoots she's done for JC. I'd bet you her picks (or what the stylist picked for her) haven't varied much over the years, lending weight to her statement regarding personal style. She's a "classic" gal and she wears it well.

  6. I totally agree with CMG, Lauren Hutton comes across as super confident and happy, and I love that. She's stylish without being a slave to fashion. I think all the picks she made are perfection, classic and wearable by almost everyone.

I would also love to see more of her in the J. Crew catalogues and marketing material.

  7. Lauren really does rock! She wears J.Crew so well. I would love for J.Crew to give her another catalog. Even better? I would love for Lauren to style it herself! :)

  8. Love navy and her picks, but I take issue with the NYLON schoolboy blazer. A *nylon* blazer is, well, not exactly timeless. But these timeless picks make it more apparent how far JCrew has strayed from its quality, classic, "aspirational" roots.

Like others, I'd like to see more of her and women of different ages/styles in the catalog. Remember those multi-generational "family photo" shots that used to pop up? All time favorite is the one in Sept 08(?) with the ladders and the white-haired lady in the taffeta rugby skirt. Dreamy

  9. Mommydearest, I agree that the fact that the schoolboy blazer is the nylon version takes away from the "classic" appeal. I noticed a similar thing was done with the toothpick jean - I don't think a zipper at the ankle is classic, either.

To me it seems they might have jazzed up her choices a bit to reflect their newer offerings for the season, but you could still follow her advice and just pick different versions.

That said, I'm not mad at the nylon blazer ...at least it's not studded leather.
