J.Crew Email: March main attractions: the latest at jcrew.com & FREE SHIPPING

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Desert Flower & Ketan, who let us know about an email from J.Crew today. (Just click on the image to view it larger).

The email is a newsletter from J.Crew discussing what is on their "radar" for March 2011.

J.Crew is also reminding us about their offer for 30% off Sale (no min) and free shipping (on orders of $100+) with promo code AYC93K. This offer expires today.

What are your thoughts on this email? Do you like the take on the electronic newsletter email?

  1. Where's the extra 40%?? ;) I am eagerly awaiting....whether it's in futility, I don't know. But I'm crossing my fingers for it!

  2. My thought is that I stopped receiving their emails completely (and I haven't received any catalog since the holidays). Boo!

On a different note, I did take advantage of this promo to get a cotton bell skirt in faded black, a pair of toothpick cords in champagne and the braided leather factory belt in gold (that I have missed in stores last year. Hopefully is a good knockoff). I also got a tee for my daughter.
After placing my order I realized that the striped painter tee was back in the sale section (it wasn't the first day of the sale), so I called them and they waived the shipping on this one. Otherwise I would have been mad.

  3. The sale section is absolutely depleted! What could I possibly buy. :) (Also waiting for the 40..)

  4. No sale update this morning, and is it common knowledge that the warehouse doesn't work weekends? I've come to that conclusion after watching Friday orders sit at 'Released' over the weekend a few times now. Grrr.

My JC emails seem to lag everyone else by like a day. WTH.

  5. I haven't checked out this email but usually I don't care for it. I mostly rely on what's said here on JCA blog. I haven't checked the sale section since inventory seems quite low.

  6. OT: I did get my March catalog and finally for the first time I got a 20% off coupon but then my excitement faded when I realized that if they don't offer free shipping without a code before March 13, I won't use the promo code.

  7. There was a small update this morning, although not what I was hoping for.

  8. jcrewphd, when we found out about the extra 30% last week from FFM before the sale was made public, i think at one point there were 1200 items and another time over 900.

i did happen upon a LOT of ghost items during that time, though.

sitting on my hands and waiting for a huge refresh. still nothing in the current rollout that i want.

  9. I'm hoping for another promo on full-priced merchandise.

  10. I'm with FFM - I'm no longer interested in coats and sweaters.

  11. None of my stalking list popped back in my size or color but I did place an order for some new arrivals as this is the last day for free shipping on my account. The sun-drenched sweatshirt seems to be selling fast so I thought I'd better pick up the blue and the white before they are gone. Threw in the Pipette cargo in railroad stripe as well as some other basics. For some reason I kept coming back to the Pipette cargo so may as well give it a try for spring.

I like the Cafe Capri feature with the different women, especially since they are all different sizes and styles. It made me pause for a moment though because posters on this blog often comment that J.Crew doesn't offer all their clothes in the full size range and often cut off at size 12. The Cafe Capri does go up to size 16 though, so perhaps that is why they featured it this way.

  13. got an email before 2 p.m. for the first time! must have been promoted to the "early birds."

and the March catalog came a month early, that is, yesterday. I usually get them as the month ends. No coupon, though. Since my magazines and my other catalogs often come late and minus coupons, I conclude that the coupon Robin Hood didn't find a coupon and tossed this catalog back in the mailbag.

Anyway, I loved all the color and I loved being able to see the clothes!

  14. Yes, the sale section is thinning out, but oddly enough, they still had the Everyday Chino in both sizes 2 and 4 short as well as in 4 Petite. I already own a pair in size 4 short but it's gotten a little big on me, so I bit the bullet on the 4 petite pair. Here's hoping it fits!
After this purchase, I really need to lay off on buying more clothes...for real! ;-)

  15. mrs.anketell - I usually wear a 27 in matchstick cords and a 4 in other JC pants. I have to size up for toothpicks and that includes the cords. I have a pair of toothpick cords in 28. I really like them, comfy, nice fit. HTH! :)

I placed an order on Friday, mostly a few new spring items that were on promo (cotton bell skirt, paisley shirt). Also reordered the troupers, this time a size smaller as the 4s I ordered were SO HUGE around my waist and hips. Not even FFM's Instant Button would have made them look better. I'm crossing my fingers these'll fit since they are final sale and I never order final sale! :)

  16. I ordered the Siren dress in smoldering brick, and then went back and ordered the Livia chain mail necklace. Since the two items together summed to over $100, I called and got them to wave the shipping on the dress (the necklace gets free shipping anyway, apparently this is true of some of the jewelry?).

Both items 30% off - if you are interested in the Livia necklace, it doesn't show up in the sale section, but if you go to the regular jewelry section, you will see that it is on sale, and thus eligible for the additional 30% off.

  17. mrs.anketell,

I also sized up for the toothpick cord. I purchased a pair in my normal skinny jeans size & it was a bit tight. So I exchanged for a size up. Hope it helps

  18. Just purchased the Dorrie skirt in Moderns red because I hadn't used my Meet Marrissa code which was due to expire today. After check out I was asked to participate in a survey on my "shopping experience". I sure wish I had been offered a 10% off next purchase like other retailers are constantly doing (although I never end up taking those surveys anyway). Anyone else been asked to do this survey? I mentioned adding a wishlist! Otherwise, I really don't have too many complaints about their website. I find it easy to navigate...I actually like it the way it is...but maybe I am just resistant to change and I know that site so well :)

  19. I ordered the Cadabra cardigan in Vintage Fatigue, Vintage cotton V-neck tee in Hawthorne, Finespun henley tank and Ice drop earrings in Rustic Twig. The cardigan and earrings were on sale so the extra 30% off applied.

I love the outfit with the Cadabra and Merino lace skirt that's in the March catalog (pg. 60). Hopefully, the Merino lace skirt goes on sale at some point or I find a suitable substitute. I was really surprised to see the Cadabra cardigan on sale already since it's a new arrival.
