J.Crew Email: Meet Madewell: shop with 20% off & FREE SHIPPING

"Thanks!" to many of you, including MaryMoo, Amy, & melissamolasses (in this post), as well as Ketan, who shared the following emails from J.Crew & Madewell this morning.

J.Crew sent an email this morning with a *unique promo code* that is good for 20% off and free shipping (no min) on any Madewell order. This offer expires March 8, 2011.

So double check your email account to see if you got this offer from J.Crew! :)

Madewell (click here to shop online) also sent an email this morning announcing some new Spring arrivals on their "Madewell Mosts" list. Click here to shop online.

Madewell is also offering free shipping on orders of $100+ with promo code GOFORIT. This offer will run for a limited time (unclear when it expires).

Will you be checking out Madewell? If so, what items are you interested in?

  1. I received this email but it was only a unique code for free shipping - no 20% off for me. Boo. :(

  2. I did not get the code for 20% off...if someone isn't using theirs and would like to pass it on, I'd really appreciate it!

  3. Great idea, Tippy. I didn't get the code either, so if any one else isn't using her/his code, could you pass it on to me?

    Thanks.

  6. I haven't received the code, either. :/

As people have mentioned above, if anyone is not using theirs wouldn't mind passing it along to me, I'd be very happy to accept! :)

  7. I actually got one! Haven't really paid a whole lot of attention to Madewell but I guess I'll have a lil' looksee at the merch...

  8. Ok, and going back to the post, I really, really love Madewell! More than half of my wardrobe is from there so I'm definitely eyeing some things for Spring such as the Trellis top, flea market floral dress, and the cute anchor belt. I find that it's really easy to mix and match all of the different things that I own from Madewell. Also! I stopped into denim after dark a few weeks ago and picked up the wide legger jeans and the vintage rockers--best purchase ever! I highly reccomend both so if you have a 20% code, they're totally worth it! And again, if you're not using your code, please share it with me :)

  9. There is some cuteness to be found at Madewell! But why are the pictures so small? I hate having to zoom in my browser settings - it must mean I'm too old to shop there!

  10. I got it and used it. Though, I didn't know there was no min purchase. Exactly what I've been waiting for to finally make my first Madewell purchase.

Can't wait to the Drifter top IRL.
FYI, Madewell seems to indecently hide items too. Found a few belts & tops by doing a search.

  11. Argh! I want some shoes but did not receive the email w/the discount code. Boo!

  12. I got two of them; email me if you want one. I'll post back when they're both gone.

  14. Does anyone else think Madewell is completely overpriced and completely underwhelming like I do? The clothing I'm seeing for the prices are totally not even worth it! All items look like thin cotton, tissue-type clothing and I'm not sure how their target demographic even affords to shop here! I think J.Crew has much better sales/discounts in general. I guess I just don't get what the hype is. I was even in the Madewell store in Westfarms Mall, CT and was super unimpressed. Just walls and walls of denim, sad looking sales girls, and piles of uninspiring clothing in general. Sorry for my "madewell rant" but all I ever see are raves from fellow JCAS...can someone explain the appeal?!

  16. Hi again,

    Both codes claimed. Thanks!

  17. My codes are all claimed :) I will never figure out why I get them send to three of my different e-mails yet some JCAs get none. Probably because I have never bought anything from Madewell? Who knows.

  18. nonickname, I agree. There is only one Madewell item I like and it is a plain silk blouse. I don't get the appeal.

  20. Ordered the Scholar Satchel with the code I received from my good friend ABC of A Bigger Closet. Yay!

  21. I'm thinking those who never ordered before got the discount. At least from what I'm seeing here.

  22. OT - does anyone know if I can use my J Crew gift cards at madewell? I've never shopped there before but just took a look at the site and I'm actually liking some of their stuff! TIA!

  24. By the way, for those of you speculating on who received the code--I've never ordered from Madewell but didn't receive a 20% off code. (I do order kind of frequently from J. Crew, though.)

  31. OT, I also have a coupon code for Coach for 25% off good 3/3-3/12. First person to email me at femme55@hotmail.com gets it. If I don't respond it means that someone else claimed it first.

  32. snagged the 1st code, thank you Cass!

  33. The Madewell allure for me are some of the pieces that remind me of J Crew like the striped cadet cardi, which I recently recvd. It's comfortable and feels well made. I also like some of the little design touches from Madewell and the price points esp when they're on sale. I haven't ordered a ton of things, but what I've kept I really like & no garment failure while wearing. I *won't* order any of the tees from Madewell and have stopped ordering them from J Crew as well. Don't trust them. The JC tees get holes too quickly.

  38. Re: allure of Madewell

Sometimes I'll see something online that looks fab but is disappointing IRL, like their tees & sweaters. But the silk blouses (Bromley is a fave) I've bought at full price are well worth the money as are the wool jackets and my latest favorite, the high waist skinny jean, which IMO fits better than JC's version (I bought my usual JC toothpick jean size).

I agree that overall their prices are high esp for their target market but I do enjoy their youthful styling ideas. Somehow they manage to make the clothes look more edgy and fresh -- maybe it's that Madewell vibe that appeals, more so than the clothing pieces themselves, which can be found elsewhere.
