JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Any styling advice for the garden lace pencil skirt? It is a beautiful skirt (the lace is identical to the lady lace popover) The website pic has it styled very casually but I would also like to some ideas that are a bit more dressy.
    Thanks!

  2. I have no clue what to wear with the Factory ikat sanur dress in island paisley. The background is very light pinkish beige. I wear it as a skirt.

  3. Jean Z, congrats on the skirt, it's so pretty. If it's not too boring, how about a silk cami, belted? Or maybe a short-sleeve cashmere tee in a saturated color, topped with a statement necklace or multiple bracelets.

J.CrewJD, I have the retail sanur in grey and wear it as a beach dress. I missed this before it was sold out online and was so fortunate to purchase mine on the Weekly Exchange from the lovely Dina Gideon. Is there a reason why you don't wear it as a dress? A lightweight cardi and strappy sandals could dress it up a bit.

  4. Hi xoxo! I wear them as a dress, too. I love that look, and it's the comfiest thing ever. I wear my (five) sanur dresses as skirts to work sometimes, and that is the main reason I got this one. Maybe I'll just go with white!

  5. J.CrewJD, I wonder if the colors are the same as the paisley perfect shirt with the same pattern. I have the perfect shirt and wear it with navy, papaya, coral, and light greys. White would likely work well too. It's very pretty but due to the warm undertone of the pale pink it is not so easy to pair up with the cool pinks, blues and purples that dominate my wardrobe. It's a lovely dress and obviously a favorite for you with 5 in your closet!

  6. xoxo, I think it does have the same colors as the perfect shirt. Thank you so much for the ideas! Yes, the sanur dress is a favorite. It's so comfy and with the right accessories it can look really polished in dress form. Great beach cover up, too!

  7. Thanks XOXO for the styling suggestions! I was thinking about a gray sweater to match the underlay but the doing a saturated color would be much more interesting and fun.
