J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. I just went into my local B&M and purchased the Tippi sweater in "marled camel". I found it to be true to size and the fit was excellent. I did not think that the August catalog shot of the Tippi did it justice, so I'm glad I got to try it on in-store. I do wish that it came in other color choices, though. I wanted to buy the "vibrant flame" color but it seemed more orange than I wanted.

Im sort of new to J. Crew, this being my second purchase. But I am impressed with the quality and fit of my purchases so far.

  2. I bought the red cece flats some weeks ago, and though broken in, they're still tight and occasionally painful around my abnormally wide feet :(

It's disappointing, but not really j. crew's fault as my I know they run a bit thin and my feet are rather wide. Sad...but I'm still wearing them! Hah.

  3. I just received my 20% off goodies yesterday - the viridian green skirt (which is gorgeous, but placed away until later fall!) and the lovely bi-stretch wool suit in soft grey. I hemmed and hawed over soft grey versus the flannel version, but am so glad I went with the soft as soon as I saw it - just a lovely shade and very becoming. I am quite pleased with this investment, as honestly, the suit is almost as nice as my Theory suits but at a fraction of the cost!

Am looking forward to THursday's rollout as I need a couple of things to go with the skirt now...

  4. Morning, JCA's. I've got quite a few reviews of new arrivals. Full disclosure - I'm almost 6 months PG (with a little JCA!) so I won't speak to sizing too much but rather construction, color, and quality.

Perfect shirt in pixed dot (48517) - I really liked the ivory background with dark pewter squares (not 'dots' so much) but my shirt came with one of those red defect arrows pointing right at the shoulder seam, which was already split! Given the cotton-silk blend, I'm not surprised, but this is a new arrival - I was probably the first person to get that particular item. I would pick it up on super sale, though, as it would look nice under a cardi or vest. I'd say get your normal perfect shirt size.

Eden cardigan (46727) - I got my normal S and found it to be a little slouchy, so maybe the "slim fit" in the description is incorrect. Marled camel color is true to the website pic. I was pleasantly surprised to find the merino to be a little thicker than last year's, even though it's also 14-gauge. A winner in my book at first glance, but will wait for sale because I have no idea how the merino's going to hold up after a few wears.

Pouch-pocket cardigan (50301) - I really loved the vintage grey color and found it to be true to the pic (more smoky than cool). Liked the wool/cotton blend and think this will be a good transition piece. Yeah, the buttons are big and kinda cheap but it works more with the style of this one. A little shorter/smaller in size than the Eden - I got the S and it just fits, but I may try an M.

Solong sweatshirt tunic (51224) - I really liked this one (just not the price). It looks just like the pic, and the knit is thick. Seams looked to be well constructed.

Slub zip hoodie (50713) - To all you JCA knit experts: "slub" is exactly like last year's "Haya". Barn red color is beautiful and I liked the longer length, but my Haya hoodie from last year shrunk and I fear the same for this one. Maybe on super sale.

Newsstand tote (51634) - When I saw that this one had "feet" in the product pic, I just had to see it IRL. It's a cute basic tote, and I found the brownstone to be a little darker than online. I liked the hardware (looked like little screwheads) but didn't know how the thinner straps would hold up a full bag. In addition, the bag had one of those "Colored Leather" paper warning tags inside that stated the dye may rub off on lighter clothing. I couldn't risk that rubbing off on say, my pumice stone Icon trench! Back it goes.

Phew! I hope these were helpful.

  5. Congratulation silver_lining!

Matchstick Jeans 50499 Starlight Wash- Fits just like the lived in Matchsticks just as comfortable however I found the short to be rather long, maybe they will shrink.

Around Town Sweatshirt 48081- Love the Heathered Yacht Blue and the quality of this sweatshirt, the neck was reinforced with tape. The fit was about an inch smaller than the Coastline Pullover.

Quilted Sweatshirt 48083- Same as the Around Town fit.

  6. congratulations Silver Lining!! :) I love the Eden too - got it in the flame color. It is thicker wool which feels so nice and it is def "slouchy" - you can size down for a more fitted look. I will buy up more colors on sale if this one holds up.

  7. I just got my Maisie dress in the mail. Really like it. I have only received one size so far, and I ordered 2 sizes to see which one fits better. I am between 2 and 4, closer to 4 than 2, but JCrew's dresses have been running large, especially in the chest area. I ordered the dress in green, but the print one is also really nice... can't choose! :)

  10. Congratulations Silver Lining... a little JCA!

I've been using my Rigby Hobo in the Windsor Grey constantly since it arrived, it's a great bag, the shoulder strap weirdly comfortable too.
I reviewed it last week on my blog.
    Have a great day, JCA's!

  11. Origami sheath dress in wool crepe - amazing dress! Has to be one of the most becoming dresses I've ever had the pleasure of owning. I was able to get it with 20% off + $50 rewards card. I'd still pay full price for it though. It is fully lined and beautifully made. I got compliments all evening when I wore it.

  12. I ordered the paddy pumps and serge pencil skirts in veridian green and acorn and received them late last week.

The pumps are pretty and appear to be well made. I did not keep them as they were a little higher on the vamp than I like (I just prefer a lower profile) and they were too long in my usual size 8. These definitely do not run short as some of the other pumps have been and I would suggest your usual size or 1/2 size down. I would buy them again on sale and wear them with tights.

The skirts are lovely. I still don't think the fit is as good as the 2008/09 models, but I will keep the veridian for the beautiful color. I might need it tailored in the waist. I am on the fence on the acorn as I am not really into browns, but the color is pretty.

  13. I just wanted to comment on the Hacking Jacket in charcoal. I had ordered an 8 and a 10 petite. I read what everyone said about the wool being scratchy but I thought I would give it a try anyway. The 8 was, indeed, very scratchy. It even rubbed the back of my neck. But, the wool of the petite Jacket was a lot softer. Not scratchy at all. Since I have short arms, that is the one I kept. The fit did seem narrower in the shoulders than usual, but I like the longer length. The cropped look just doesn't work for me anymore.
BTW, I love reading all the reviews. I just thought I should finally join in.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I agree with casual_crew about the Matchstick in Starlight - I love them, they are nice and soft and fit like I would expect from this cut. Mine (in short as well) are on the long side. I have washed and dried t hem once, and they did shrink up a little, but they are still longer than my other Matchsticks. Not that big of a prob, though...
Also, I ordered the Classic Flare Jean in Jezebel last week on someone else's recomendation here, and I Loooooooove Them. I am torn between two sizes, and might actually keep both, one (larger) for work, and the Charlie's Angels tight ones for going out. I carry some weight in my midsection, and the high waist tucks that in like you wouldn't believe. So flattering and the color is a nice blue, just dark enough for casual days at work, but not too dark.

  15. Congrats silver!! How exciting! :D

  16. I placed an order with my cardholder 20% off and it's arriving in bits. The pencil skirt in acorn is the perfect camel pencil skirt. It's a little lighter wool than some of my skirts from previous years. I live in Arizona though and I need a neutral camel skirt that will span seasons, so this one is going back and I'll search elsewhere. Other than the weight of the fabric, I loved it.

More items are arriving today and I will review.

  17. silver_lining, best wishes to you and your family.

  18. I received the decadent red schoolboy blazer recently. I ordered it "by mistake" and forgot to cancel it before it shipped. It was one of those things I threw in my cart to think about and forgot to remove. (I'm just grateful that I hadn't been "checking the inventory" and mistakenly ordered a bunch!)

After a lot of negative reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by it. The color seems more orangey than I was expecting, and it fit TTS like most of my size 6 jackets (for reference, I usually wear a 4 in perfect shirts and s or xs in knit tops).

The sleeves were wrinkled a bit from being folded, but I don't think it would wrinkle when worn. I had bought a factory schoolboy last year, and I thought the buttons were similar.

A nice enough jacket, but would be more appealling on sale.

  19. Last week, I received Petite Ruthie shirtdress ($118.00 item 50554) in dark navy.

I ordered my usual petite top size. It was tight like many JCAs mentioned. No problem...I'll size up... until I saw myself in the mirror. I was still wearing my 5 inch shorts under and the dress was so short I could see 1 inch of the shorts. Defective maybe?

And worse than that was the zipper on the side. It was not those tiny side seam zippers we see on the JC camis. It was one of those big brass "exposed zipper" type, with a big rectacgular pull. The zipper wasn't exposed but the pull was so big, it would be hard not to show.
The zipper made it look like $20 dress from Target. I returned it the next day.

  20. Off topic - but does anyone have a 20% off code that they won't be using? I used mine the other day and just now realized that it can only be used ONCE :( I had a few full priced items that I was hoping to pull the trigger on today...

My email is lolalovesfrank@gmail.com if you're willing to give yours up! Thank you in advance!

  21. Congratulations, silver lining!!

    and sub :)

  22. Ji, thanks for the review of the Ruthie. So disappointing! I guess this is another one I can cross of the list.

The only new item I've tried recently is the Encore trench, and I loved it. The fabric is very substantial and I felt the sleeves were long enough for a tall person to pull off. I'd rather have 1-2 more inches but JCrew totally snubs tall people these days so we have to make do. I was happy because the sleeves on the icon trench were way above my wrists. As far as fit I felt it ran a tinge small, especially if you want to layer under it. I have gained some weight but can still wear a 6 in everything else J.Crew lately... but would want to size up to an 8 in this. Definitely size up if you have a chest because there was no extra room there.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I tried on the Maisie Abstract Floral dress this weekend and was SUPER disappointed. I'm a curvy 6 and it just felt all wrong on me. The waistline was a tad high and the skirt was voluminous, plus the fabric didn't feel as soft or drape as nicely as I'd hoped. I was going to size down to a 4 and try with a belt but didn't even think that would save it.

I'm glad it worked for you, Irene :)

  24. First part of my 20% order. Very happy with this fall's pencil skirts. Received the double serge acorn and viridian green; and the cord skirt in navy and autumn bluegrass. All fit TTS & not marginally different from last year's fit. Specially happy with the acorn which ended my search for the perfect beige wool pencil skirt - not too light & not too dark. On the fence on the viridian green serge only because my green skirt fix may be met better by the bluegrass cord skirt lifestyle-wise. Also prefer last year's heather tide serge which has a darker green/blue mix.

Definitely going back: the refined silk-cashmere wrap. I always buy a couple every season because of the delicious colors & year-round wear. I noticed it's coarser this year and the drape is off. Checked the fabric content & was shocked to find they added rayon! Please Jcrew if I want rayon in my scarves I will go to Forever 21 & not pay $75.

  25. This is a question rather than a review, sorry. Does the Jardin skirt fit TTS? I'm pregnant so I can't try it on to see what I would normally take in this skirt but since I'm due in a few months I'd like to buy it to put away for later. :)

    Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Marie, I ordered the silk/cashmere wrap in bright dahlia and the content is 55% silk, 45% cashmere.

I have my eye on the paradise blue as well but don't want rayon--what color did you get? TIA

    ReplyDelete
  27. Congrats silver_lining! How exciting :)

Was the Perfect shirt in pixed dot see through at all? Thinking about eventually getting this shirt (now on sale probably), but it looks like it maybe a bit sheer.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Amy, I got the paradise blue from a B&M. Maybe this is a different B&M item only? I will re-order paradise blue online next week & check the fabric content. I have a previous season one with the same shade as bright dahlia but it came in a different name "berry" color. That one had no rayon in it.

  29. Jan - I found the Jardin to fit TTS if you want it to sit right at your natural waist. I wear a 00 in J. Crew skirts and took a 00 in this one, but I also tried on the 0 and didn't notice much of a difference. If you want it to sit lower (I wouldn't recommend it because of the length) you should definitely size up. HTH!

  31. Big congratulations, silver_lining!! You are going to have so much fun shopping the crewcuts section! ;-)

This is kind of late, but I finally got around to posting a couple IRL pics on my blog, one of the shortcut sweater in muslin (item 41319) here, and one of the men's lightweight utility shirt (item) here. Re: the sizing, on the shortcut sweater, I ordered my usual size S, and it's a good fit (I normally take a size 6 in dress tops), nice and slouchy through the body but slim fitting in the arms. For the men's shirt, I ordered a size Large-Tall, and it's quite generous in the body. Men who prefer slim fitting shirts would probably not like it. For reference, my husband wears a 16.5" in dress shirts and is well over 6 ft.

I received the lattice belt (item 44415) yesterday. This one hasn't received much attention but I liked the eyelet-like cutout pattern and thought it would look good against a black dress. I ordered the size M in the roasted chestnut colour. Well, I am super pleased with it. It's made in the U.S. and the quality of the leather really shows. The colour is as depicted online, a dark caramel colour.

  32. Silver Lining, Just wanted to add my congrats! :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Congratulations silver_lining!!

I received few items yesterday. No.2 pencil skirt in vibrant flame is rather orange than red, and I wanted it to be more red. However, the fit is perfect and I don't have any similar color in my wardrobe so I'm keeping it. I think it would look great with carmel tones and denim jackets. The wool feels soft and quality is there.

Hacking herringbone blazer in charcoal color. I needed a dark gray color blazer but it's rather boring. The fabric felt rough and itchy as other JCAs noted. Fits TTS, but the fabric didn't drape down and flared out a bit on the sides (I think steaming out the seam might have helped) on my pear shaped body. ;-) It's going back.

Wool scarf in the purple floral pattern. Colors are vibrant and fabric is very soft. However, out of package it already had few snags. I don't know how long this scarf would hold up. I paid FP - 20% off but I don't know if I want to pay this much for disposable item. The 100% wool weave is not as tight as my 2009 wool patterned scarves. Still undecided since I love the color so much.

  34. No 2 pencil in Jazzy Purple - Beautiful color. Don't know what I'll pair it with but the color is to die for.

Hacking in flame - The fit is awesome, perfect. The wool is a little scratchy, don't know about the color, more orange than red but I don't know if I can give it up!

Jezabel flare - Love, although they do fit somewhat snug through the hips. The fabric is awesome.

St James Meridian - Size down but LOVE. The fabric is substantial. It is a more boxy fit.

Old one but the Fine Spun cotton suit. LOVE. The fab ric is awesome for summer and the pants are on sale right now.

I actually love my whole order, first time in a long time. JCrew this fall is killing my wallet.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Aw, thanks all! I'm definitely bummed about missing out on the pencil skirts this fall but am still trying to incorporate JC where I can. :)

Txgirl, I think the pixel dot was a little see through (I just threw it on over a tank when I tried it) which wouldn't matter to me because I like to layer, but I think you'd probably need a cami or something under it. I wish that they had made an all cotton version of it (with better constructed seams!).

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sort of OT, does anyone know if any of the women's suit pants are lined anymore, or is every single pair unlined?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Two reviews from my 20% off order:

Vintage Tweed Jacket in Mustard - Love the shape of this jacket! Reminds me of a Chanel jacket. The mustard color is pretty in person. I was hoping for it to be a little brighter yellow (for my skin tone), but still really like it. (Looks very close to the on-line color.) The jacket is very well made, nicely lined, good solid buttons and love the detail at the cuffs and the bracelet sleeves. Definitely doesn't feel flimsy and is a good weight to it. Highly recommend!! I took my normal size 0 and it fits great.

Perfect-fit Colorblock Tee in Natural/Black - The biggest thing to note is that the natural part (on top) is NOT off-white as it appears on-line, but is TAN! If I was naming the color for this t-shirt, I'd have called it "tan/black" or "camel/black". A bit of a surprise IRL, but luckily the tan still works well with the black.

Hope that helps! Congrats Silver Lining!!

  38. - Confetti Pendant necklace in the silver color: this is going back. It's not shiny and looks more like pewter than silver to me. It also appears "weathered" with scuffs on the large discs, and some blackening around the edges. Not cute.

    - Ruched Betty French Swim Top - I can't decide whether I like this or not. I'm a size 10-12 top, and I ordered a size Medium per the recommendation of an online chat. It definitely fits me and may even be slightly large, but there's no way I'd size down to a small. The concept of the top is super flattering to the chest (esp mine which is uneven, if you know what I mean). Unfortunately I think the straps could be shorter, giving the girls a boost, and I also think this top could stand to be a bit tighter around the rib cage. Still deciding whether I want to keep this one.

    - Beach plum bandeau swim top and bikini bottom - ordered both these in medium and fit is TTS to slightly large. The colors are more saturated than they appeared on my computer screen. If you're between sizes, size DOWN. Not sure if I will keep because this is the first time I've ever tried a strapless top and am not sure this look works for me. The fabric is nice and silky and the bottoms have the appropriate coverage for me - not too little, not too much - and I do not think they would give me a wedgie or the dreaded droopy butt.

    - Cafe trouser - I ordered my usual J.Crew pants size, and the fit is TTS to slightly large. It will give me room to comfortable tuck in a top. The chino fabric is very refined and the tan color is saturated and nice. I think these are a step or two above regular khakis and they're a keeper for me. The slit pockets did not arrive sewn shut but they appear to lie flat and not gape open, which is a bonus. The favorite fit seems to sit a bit higher on the waist on me than I expected; basically just below the navel. I don't consider this a problem on these pants, though. They're a keeper.

  42. Thanks silver_lining! This is helpful. I’m not one for layering…way too hot here, so I will wait for it to go on sale before considering it. I wish the silk blend shirts were made better :( They fit me well but those seams…ugh.

All these reviews coming in on the Jezbel flare really make me want a pair!

  43. I agree about the Origami dress - pics on my blog from a while back.

  44. Bonnie Dress in Toile Jacquard

The website image does *not* do the fabric justice at all. The green is deeper and the blue more vibrant. Absolutely gorgeous fabric with a nice substantial hand feel. Perfect for late summer and early fall.

Dress appears to be well-made. I didn't notice any loose threads or buttons. It has a side zip that works well and does not pucker. And a lined skirt.

I am 5'-4" and the dress just skims the top of my knees, which I like because it keeps the dress from looking too formal. Skirt is more A-line so its an easy fit through the hips. I am broad through the shoulders and back but had no trouble with the fitted top. If you are smaller than average on top, you could safely size down.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Some of my 20% off items arrived. The blue Hacking Jacket. Felt too broad through the shoulders, but fit well elsewhere. The color was lighter than hoped, so I returned it. I ordered the purple instead, but I should have gone for the petite size in it b/c JC's blazers and coats tend to run long on me in the sleeves. May have to exchange when it arrives.

I got the Eden cardigan in flame and am probably returning it. I think the color is just a little too bright. But need to play around w/it a little to be sure. Also, got the Flare jeans in the short length. I really like these a lot. I'd say TTS and flattering. I also got a hoodie that has a thin red and white stripe. Don't know the exact name of it. I really like it alot, but it runs large IMO. A large was huge on me. Sized down to a Medium. I do wear Medium in tops mostly, but not always. I got the wool capris in the Yacht Blue color. I really like these. I'd say TTS in terms of fit. The color is really pretty - not too light. Also, got the calf hair leopard print watch strap and was disappointed. I don't know if it was defective but it was white-ish on one side all the way around and also it wouldn't stay strapped on when I tried it on. So that was a return, sadly. Ok, I think that's it!

  46. OT: Has anyone ever had problems with their online PS? I was switched over to a new PS a few months ago, and I'm not really happy with her. She's now not responded to 2 separate emails I've sent (with requests to order something). So sad because my first PS was so fabulous. I'd like to get another new one. Should I just email j.crew and request a new one, or should I get recommendations from you JCAs and email someone directly? Would appreciate any help or advice!

xoxo, thanks for the reviews and pics. It was nice to see all those purple colors IRL.

I have to add my love of the jezebel flare. I plan to order them with the 20% off, I've just been waiting to see the new roll out first.

Jruby18, are the short flares about the same length as the short chinos? I'm hoping that they are so I don't have to have them hemmed. TIA

  51. Cass, all of the suiting pants seem to be unlined now, including the updated bi-stretch, which I find more itchy than the previous stretch wool which were lined. Unfortunately, I no longer buy J.Crew suiting pants because they aren't lined, no matter how "silky" or high-threading the wool.

  58. Cleo, thanks for the info. Major bummer. Guess I won't be buying any pantsuits from JC and am restricted to skirt suits. Not only do I find unlined wool itchy, but the fabric is very thin and my legs get cold in the fall/winter!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Just went to my local B&M to pick up things for an upcoming trip. Finally had some new stuff in...

No. 2 pencil skirt in viridian green: gorgeous color, close to the color on the website. Light weight wool, soft, and lined. Will definitely need a petite size though, so guess I need to size up one?

Wool Cafe Capri in bright dahlia: Loved the color..but not much else. Soft to the touch, but on they were scratchy and unflattering. Now I know how important is is for these type of pants to be lined. I felt like everything was exposed and you could see the outlines of the pockets too. :(

Hacking jacket in grass: I agree with previous reviews, it was very scratchy. TTS, but a bit boxy on my frame.

Flare Jean in jezebel: Love these! TTS, but really long. The short will probably be too long for me too without hemming, but great jean. Love the higher rise and the stretch too!

  62. JBird: It is like they mixed me and my hubby, a love for J. Crew and all things Star Wars. He is gonna love that. :) Thanks for the laugh!

  63. @txgirl14- for double serge skirts, sizes are the same, the only difference is petite is 2" shorter, so keep your same size.

The only difference I noticed between this year and 2010 double serge skirts was that this years doesn't have the ribbon/strings inside to hang the skirts up. =/

  64. Does anyone own anything in the Carnival Blossom color? Am thinking of getting a mixed tape cardi in that color but cannot tell what shade of pink it is. It looks kind of "mauve morning-ish" which is not good for my skin...

  65. OperaRanch - I didn't think the Carnival Blossom was mauve morning-ish. But,IMO, it's definitely a pale 'cool' pink rather than a 'warm'.

  66. Thank you Lindsay! Huge help. I'm a 4(still a tiny big in the waist), so a 6P would have been way too big.

Now only if the wait list would disappear...:)

  68. Just went to the Jacksonville FL JC for the first time - in the area-ish for work.(ok, so I went out of my way to go to the beach and to go shopping). First - the SA's were SO NICE. I was sort of wishing the ones near me were that nice, but then realized that might not be so good for my wallet! Anyway, a few try ons:

Hacking jacket - as everyone has said, scratchy. Could prob deal with that, as I would wear long sleeves with it most likely, but I'm between sizes on this one. Sleeves in my reg 6 too short and shoulders too tight. The 8 fit nicely in these areas, but too big/boxy elsewhere. Phoo, I had really high hopes for this one.

Jardin skirt - cute on, I sized down one. Like but not love, and since they showed me the new catalog (!!!), I passed at full price.

Oh, my, goodness, the new catalog is GORGEOUS. I'm seriously in love. I tried on a new plaid pair of LINED (yay!) wool cafe capris - so cute. The plaid is brown/camel but with purple (well, more like the african violet color) and yellow in it. Very cute. So very many amazing things in the new catalog. I can't wait to see more. Gorgeous coats, cute wool shorts, more of these saturated jewel tones we've been seeing. Just great.

Thanks again to the Jacksonville SA's for a great visit! I wish I'd had more time there today! :)

  69. I got my 20% off order. The Daylong shirt is fabulous. I got it in champagne and the rust color, I forget the specific color names. TTS to a smidge big, I ordered an XS. It buttons up high enough to be decent. I like the close fit and I can see myself wearing it with slouchy trousers and full skirts (like the amazing liquid silk skirt I just ordered!)

I also received the Eddie Borgo bow pins. I'm a bit obsessed with the Borgo for J. Crew collaboration. I have the wide ivory cuff and have received many compliments. The bow pins are a bit smaller than I pictured. I got both the ivory and the black. I like the juxtaposition of the sweet bow with the sturdy leather and the studs. I will put these on jacket lapels and probably on belts and shirt collars and other places.

When the liquid silk skirt arrives I'll review that in next weeks review post.

  70. Kind of J. Crew - I was lucky and snapped up a Madewell 10% and FS code from this blog, just got my order today: the Snapshot dress I've been eyeing, which dropped down to $39.99. I couldn't make up my mind and got it in the 2 colors - black and dried seaweed. Now I want to keep both! Fits TTS to maybe half a size up; the sleeves are not tight, they're cut kind of billow-y, but not too Renaissance poet. Falls below elbow.

Great thing is, I'm tall (5'10") and the hem hits above the knees but isn't scandalous. (There's another dress style called the Snapshot mini dress - yikes!) I would not have paid FP for this though, the fabric is nice (silk crepe de chine) but is a little scratchy, isn't lined, no pockets, and the fabric ribbon belt that comes with it could be a little more lux. The green reminds me of a dark khaki/camouflage green; both will work my workplace and will transition into fall.

  71. Thanks for the review Audrey.

Whoa! Just went to look at the Madewell Snapshot dress and see Final Sale is in full swing at Madewell - boo! Come on!

So buyer beware: purchased cropped cargos (item 40675) in my regular size 6 in the colors raccoon and white and both pair fit like a size 0. They looked like little girl pants but I stepped into the legs anyway and they only made it to mid thigh.

I had also ordered the white in a size 8, these made it all the way up but were a no go; button and hole were miles away from fastening. For the price, I would've kept them had they not run so small.

  72. Has anyone tried the Cascade Dress? It's the long sage green silk number that claims it is machine washable. I am verrrry intrigued!
