JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. more ideas for the floating rose flair skirt? I've already seen ShopwM's post, but I don't have anything in poppy for the top.

  2. Bought the gimlet tweed flair skirt shown in the looks we love section with a bright pink shirt and camel colored coat. It looks good with a variety of colored shirts and different shoes (pumps, boots, platform oxford) but the legwear of all things is tripping me up! It's too cold in NJ not to wear tights, so what do you guys think? Beige/brown, gray, match the color of the top?

  3. Hey everyone! Just got my Cece Suede Flats in the mail in Oasis Green--love them. But I'm a little concerned about the fit. They fit like they might be a hair too big. Do the Cece Suede flats stretch out with wear? If so, I'm wondering if I should size down.

  4. MissJR, I would wear a dark top and tights in the same colour, or tights in a colour that is also present in the skirt. I can't wait to get my pencil skirt in the same fabric.

  5. JulieY,
I love the floating rose print and worried about taking the final sale plunge until I saw shopwithM's review and polyvores. It is more versatile than I thought! I pair with a camel top or even a dark brown top. Cream or white works well too. Black and red of course. I prefer turtlenecks and button downs that can be tucked in. I have a longer dark brown sweater I want to try belting over the skirt when I get it from the cleaners. Try searching "JCrew floating rose" in sets on Polyvore for ideas. HTH!

  7. Hey Shana, I wouldn't size down in the Ceces. They have a tendency to rub in the back in a smaller size, and mine even rub a bit in my regular size. I think getting a smaller size would exacerbate this issue. They are so pretty, aren't they? Love that color!

  8. Thanks JCrewJD. When I tried them on at work and walked down the hall, they made the most hilarious/embarrassing "squomp squomp squomp" noise when I walked! I was not expecting that and hope it goes away. ;)

  9. On the fence about whether to keep my Gallerista skirt. It's well-made and beautiful, but I just don't know what to pair with it! I'm in my early-20s, so I'd like to keep the look relatively young and fresh. Any ideas? I'd probably only wear it during the spring/summer. Thanks!

  10. Just wanted an opinion on how everyone is wearing the double serge pencil? The petite is at the top of my knee and the regular is below. I've seen both looks on the models in the catalog. I hate to buy the regular and spend the money on alterations. Any advice on above or below the knee?

    Thanks!
