Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  5. @ Gigi, the code is not working for me. Is it my browser? I use Firefox.

  6. I was just able to use the code. Basically reordered two coats. Not worth haggling with customer service
    over price.

  7. so weird...i can't get my firefox to show the 25% off. They even reject the code when I try it. Yet in internet explorer shows the sale and the code works. Of course, now my shopping bag is empty

  10. Lesley W. Gao - I would call customer service after you place the order and ask for the adjustment. You may have to wait until the order ships. In the stores they always say that ppl will save an addtl 10% if they sign up for the card. That's what happened when I got mine. I had to call in to have the adjustment for my online order. Hope it goes smoothly :)

dinster - Hopefully it's working for you now. I'm, in Firefox, too.

  11. I jumped on this one right away and reordered some stuff. i'm with SE MOM-not worth haggling with CS over price adjustment (although honestly, i think it would save them so much energy if they did a price adj rather than ship items back to warehouse only to resend out the same items back to me and in the meantime inventory gets all messed up (sorry-shoud be in the vent section :)!)

  16. Thanks for the Boden tip; I picked up the cute limited edition jaquard dress. 25% is a high discount for them.

Last weekend I went to the JC Collection store on Madison Avenue to return something, and one block down they have opened a new store called Joe Fresh. The concept is preppy/stylish at affordable prices. Kind of reminds me of a combination of JC and Uniqlo, with Zara/H&M prices. The prices are very good but you are still getting nice fabrics--they had 100% silk long sleeve blouses on promo for $19 (regular price $39), skinny denim and cords on promo for $19, and cashmere v-necks on promo for $49 (cardis for $69). Bright, fresh colors. I got a cute swing-style puffer jacket for $79.
I asked at the register and they said they also had 3 other locations in NYC. Worth checking out.

  18. Cass, Joe Fresh is a Canadian store that just recently expanded to the U.S. They have a few standalone stores here but the clothes shoes and accessories are also sold in their discount grocery store, (The Real Canadian) Superstore.

A few seasons ago I got a knockoff of J.Crew's Maya cardigan in a wool cotton blend and a gorgeous berry color. I had two J.Crew Mayas and sold one because I prefer the Joe Fresh one. It has held up well, going into its 3rd year of wear.
