JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. I featured a couple of outfit ideas for styling with red accessories and the Blythe silk shirt in poppy here and here.

Both outfits also feature the Lulu Frost crystal horseshoe necklace. I thought it might be helpful for others who also bought the necklace.

  4. Vibrant Flame fans: is this a colour that someone with medium brown hair tint, green eyes and fair skin with pink undertones can pull off? Usually that colouring is supposed to stay clear of orange. Any advice/photos? Thanks!

  5. Dissertante - have a look at long shore sweater on the model. Your coloring sounds similar to hers.

  6. @ A Bigger Closet: Thanks for the link. I compared our colourings (models look good in everything, though!) and I have slightly darker hair and eyes and pinky skin...she seems to have a peaches and cream complexion. I love the coat and the fit, but am still wondering if it's a case of the colour wearing the person. I tend to gravitate toward blues and purples, and thought this would be a good way of breaking the trend. The "Colour Me Beautiful" blurbs online weren't helpful, as my colouring didn't fall clearly into any category. Hmmm....

  7. Dissertante: That's pretty much my colouring and I love the vibrant flame, it's really flattering on me. I'm very pink underneath my make up but I wear a lot of orange too.

  10. Dissertante, I think Vibrant Flame is more forgiving than you might think. Another option might be to wear it on your bottom half. Yesterday I wore my persimmon double-serge skirt (very similar to Vibrant Flame, which I also love) with my San Remo print merino sweater and I looked ridiculously cute, if I do say so myself. :P

I love colors like vibrant flame paired with navy -- it really balances out the brightness beautifully. Add some turquoise for a pop of color and you're looking good! :)

Does anyone have any ideas for styling the nightfall floral wool scarf? I bought it a few weeks ago and haven't worn it yet ... just haven't had a second to think much about it. But it's staring at me and wanting to be worn...

  12. Hi! I want to wear a drapey, navy dress that I got a killer deal on at J. Crew, but I don't know what to pair it with to be appropriate for school/winter... thanks!
