Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new FALL/WINTER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. I wasn't planning to stop by a B&M but I did and boy was I glad because I scored a super 120 trouser in city-fit in black for $39.99 before the 30% off. I so happy to score these basic black pants for $30 instead of $130. Apparently, one SA had mistakenly marked a couple of pants so I guess I was just lucky. But I did also picked up the liquid silk skirt in blue and the cheetah print cardigan as well which I love.

  2. I went in again (this time to the Palo Alto store) because I was with a friend...I was not expecting to find anything but along for the ride. I ended up taking home the stadium cloth Engineer coat. They only had one (my size unbelievably) and it was marked down to $249 and then 30% off so final price $174.99. I am pretty stoked but need to try it on with a few things to decide if it's versatile enough. It's quite an interesting look but I feel like it goes best with jeans...Any advice?

Funny thing happened while I was in the store. The SA took my coat back to the fitting room (to start a room for me, as they say) and as I was headed back in there to try it on, just as I got into the fitting rooms, I see this woman snatch my coat off the door where the SA put me to try on my things and whisper to her friend, "Here, try this on!" I was like, "Whoa, whoa, crazy shopper, that's my coat!" These holiday shoppers are nuts, I tell you!

  3. I was in the Bellevue Square and the UVillage stores today. Lots of racks of items on sale, esp. at UVillage. Even with the many shoppers in the stores, I doubt they will get cleared very soon. I picked up the silk/cotton Paisley blouse in royal purple, the pintuck shell and the cafe capris in wool check. See the pants on me here.

Also got a PA on the Jenna cardigan in nightfall floral, which was $39.99 in the store minus the discount.

Picked up the 2012 day planner with the hot pink cover. This will ensure it never gets lost.

Please check my blog later this week for some reviews of JC as well as some Madewell items.

  4. With the recent promos, I found a flair skirt in the forest green and the origami mini in houndstooth for $35 each. Also, three bikini tops for $37, free shipping, though I couldn't find bottoms in the same size/color.

  5. Lots of sale inventory in my Las Vegas store. They didnt even have enough space to put everything out. I sense deep discouts after Christmas. Picked up Fisherman sweaters for $24 after the discount (it's mis-marked at $59.99 and SA had to override it), the Vacation Dress for $14, Hadley stripe sweater for $35, and a lone purple Jardin skirt in my size for $28 (all prices after discount)!

Side story about the Jardin skirt: I few months ago, I went in to try the Jardin skirt. There were only 1-2 left on the floor in random sizes. Found a grey one in my size (Sz4), but I WS told the purple one in my size was on the store window mannequin. One of the SA's asked the other one to check the skirt on the window and grab it for me, but that SA came back and told me, "Oh, it is pinned all the way around and it will be difficult to get it off!" So I went ahead and tried on my stuff. Then when I came out of the dressing room, I saw they had taken off the Jardin skirt off the window for another woman to try! What the heck?? I was in a rush so I didn't have time to find an SA to snark at (they seem to disappear into the the depths of the store; though my SA's are usually awesome except for that one guy who was too lazy to grab the skirt fr the mannequin). Anyway, imagine my chuckle when I saw the purple size 4 Jardin skirt hanging on the sale rack corner by itself. It was meant to be mine!

  6. Jen - a couple weeks ago I was at the Town Square Las Vegas store and had a such a bad interaction with a male SA that I wanted to walk out without buying anything. I was interested in a hat, but noticed that the last one on the floor had black ink marks on it -- and after flagging him down (he was so intent on folding that even though I was one of two customers in the store I had to go interrupt him), I asked if he would please check for another in that color. Needless to say, he didn't believe me and proceeded to search the hat for the marks; I ended up having to show him where -- and although he did go in the back to get another, he was quite unfriendly. It left such a distaste in my mouth for the Las Vegas store.

  7. Decaf - I wonder if it's the same guy? He is seriously the only one who has an attitude. I hate referring people based on their race and gender preference, but its the most acurate description of the SA i'm talking about - is it the Caucasian gay guy? He always makes me feel
like I'm not "worthy" enough to shop there!

  8. LOL at the shopper trying to "shop" from your dressing room door. I've worried about that same possibility when I was sale shopping in the past. I hate to haul my finds around the store with me, but sometimes I'm afraid to leave them untended.

  9. I wasn't planning a stop, but the 30% off everything was too much of a lure. I eyed the bubble necklace, but couldn't take the plunge. I did discover a pair of Toothpick Ankle cords--still FP on-line--marked down to $60 with the additionall 30% off, so I picked those up. My store is small, so there wasn't much else I was really dying for.

I did have a general question if anyone happens to know: do the matchstick jeans run the same as the matchstick cords? The cords run big, imo, but the jeans I bought two years ago are more TTS. But I've recently lost weight(I'm now a 26 in the toothpick ankle; 25 in the matchstick cord) and am not sure which size to buy. I ordered the Matchstick jeans in a 26 (used to have them in a 27 and they were too big) but now wonder if I should have gone with the 25. Would appreciate any input. Thanks!!

  10. I definitely did some damage this weekend! I was at the store to pick up some gifts to my brother from my mom. The store was packed, but there seemed to be a lot of sale and full price items. I ended up with the following items:
Blythe shirt in fiesta purple: This is my second time trying this shirt out. The first was with a 4, which seemed too big. I realized the 2 was too small once I got home so this is going back.
Minnie in vibrant flame: Love, love, love these. I think the material is better than that on the cafe capris and the fit is so great.
Tippi sweater in vibrant flame: I love merino sweaters because I don't like much bulk. I tried this on with the vibrant flame pants and my husband thought I was wearing a bodysuit(LOL).
Toothpick denim in neon persimmon: I ordered these online because I needed a ride-along with the polka dot popover that I needed in a larger size. I loved the color in store and can't wait for spring to wear them!

  11. My patience was rewarded on my Friday night visit to the Toronto strore where I finally bought the cafe wool trouser in maraschino cherry for $73. I also splurged on the navy schoolboy blazer because it was 30% off and got some sale bracelets for Xmas gifts. They were $18 after promo!

  12. Are the DS Hacking jackets in stores anywhere? If so, did anyone seen the Hacking in bright turquoise recently?

  13. I'm envious of all of you who got good deals at the store last weekend. My B&M is just a little too far away for me to go that often. A question: Did anyone happen to see the Blythe shirt dress in a size 4 in your store? If so can you tell me where? I might call and do a send-charge.

  14. Lauren S - I personally find that my matchstick cords run slightly bigger than my matchstick jeans in the same size. The legs seem a big baggier to me but it also may be due to the nature of the fabric.

  15. OT - has anyone tried handwashing their silk J Crew blouses? I have a blush silk Lucinda blouse that I want to hamdwash since it's washed silk. I'm not do worried about the color fading since it's light-colored. Thanks!

  16. dagmara, I was at the Yorkdale store on Friday night too! Scored the felted wool mini in the ivory colour for $60, the Saturday pants and some jewelry (taking advantage of the double discount). I couldn't believe how many sale items were out, it was crazy!

  19. I went on Friday to the J. Crew in Soho (new york trip, yay) and picked up the marled henley popover which is super cute. Then I went on Saturday (who can resist 30% off sales? not me) and picked up the shimmer bow sweater in the gold color and a sequin t-shirt. both ran huge - I had to buy the xxs. Everything's going under the tree. :)

  20. What do you know? The 2012 planner is on sale for $14.99 minus 30% online. I paid $19+ yesterday in the store.

    Check here.

  21. @dagmara- you mentioned that the wool cafe trousers in maraschino cherry were on sale, did you notice if the heather caramel color were on sale? Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jan, I noticed they had a couple of Heather caramels and they were in the rack towards the back of the store so I think they were on sale too but they only had 2-3 pairs left in that color. I would call the store to check what sizes were left.

  23. jan - I definitely saw the heather caramel cafe wool trouseres on sale as well as the maraschino cherry.

I heard the 30% off is continuing in-store thru this week. Don't quote me. Remember that final sale has been predicted as of this week and I'm in agreement. I think we'll see it soon.

If shopping online, check out irl pic links:

    * regular price items

  24. patsystone - Crazy shoppers indeed! Your engineer coat would probably look cute w/cords, too.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thanks, gigi! I have the matchstick cords in graffiti green (from this year) and cement and almond (from last year). The coat looks great with the green ones and oddly not so much with the grey ones. Hmmm...

Also, my McAllister wedges came today! Hurray!

My verification word is "fulfp" which is the sound I make upon drinking waaayy to much Crewlade.

    ReplyDelete
  26. BTW--if they want to get rid of any of the remaining inventory and foist final sale upon us this week, I think they're going to have to go up to 40% off, at least on sale items.

    ReplyDelete
  27. patsystone: Gigi is right (as always!), the Engineer coat would look great with cords, or a bright skirt like it's shown with on the website, or with jeans. I'm wearing it with jeans on my blog.

And, I hear you about crazy shoppers. That's why I hold everything I intend to try on until I'm ready to go into the dressing room!

  28. I bought a necklace called "candy cane " over the weekend in B&M. It is like one of the old J.Crew necklaces - has coral enamel and crystals , very pretty. Has anybody else seen or bought it ? I do not see it online ! Also noticed that the crystal pendant necklace is $55 online and $58 in the stores !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh, yes, rynetta PhD, I did see it on your blog a week or so ago. I couldn't remember where but I knew on of the JCAs had reviewed it. Looks great on you!

  30. @dagmara & gigiofca - Thank you for the info. on the heather caramel trousers! :)
