  1. Woah. I cannot believe how many promotions have been going on. What's next - 50$ off?

  2. Make you play the "what will the next promo be?" game which is fine, b/c I've already ordered gifts and plenty of items for myself!!! LOL

  3. Wow they must be really desperate! Even more so than Gap! Mind you, I'm not complaining, just saying...

  4. Good that I held on from the weekend. Only want 1 top but couldn't justify to add a few items to make it to $150 on the weekend to get the 25% off and free shipping. Now I can. Yippie!

  5. This promotion rollout is so odd. It makes me curious to see what each one is going to be, so now I have a habit of check each night at 12 am. All the promotions are similar though. I haven't bit in a while!
I keep waiting for a 40% sale items to pick up extra tees, since I'm not dying for anything otherwise.

  6. Picked up a suit jacket that popped back in my size.

I like that this promo include free ship with no minimum, AND not final sale. I think Final Sale will probably kick in after Christmas, at which point I'd rather not risk being stuck with the item even though the discounts may be steeper.

    ReplyDelete
  7. My guess is that there will be a % off sale next...but who knows?

Pansy, in the last couple of years Final Sale has actually come back before Xmas - just something to keep in mind.

  8. I haven't even had a chance to wear the things I bought during the past few promotions, so I'm going to pass on this one.

  9. Holy promos! Very much appreciated but I am DONE shopping until January for gifts or otherwise.

*I will just leave my recommendation that everyone should use this promo to buy the Snowbound Sweater. I wore mine yesterday and it's perfect.

  10. I just picked up the (evidently) one jazzy purple No. 2 pencil skirt JCrew had in stock. Super excited to wear it! Although, will likely have to avoid pairing it with the cherry-red stadium cloth trench lest I appear to be one of those women in the Red Hats Club.

  11. Shamefully, I bit on a couple of sweaters and thermal henleys. Oh, and the jade cafe capris too.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I keep saying I'm done and then another promo rolls in, so whatever their strategy is, it appears to be working on ME.

I used this one with no minimum (yay) for basics ... mostly tees and leggings. It's so nice to have a no minimum promo to pick up the smaller items.

  13. I reordered the Polka Dot Blouson dress after getting the wrong size last week (anyone need a size 2? It's now sold-out online!)

I'm with the rest of you...crazy promos going on. Who would have thought we'd ever see the day? :)

  14. Nice! They've def. been more forthcoming than usual with this discounts this holiday season. I think I'm gonna pick up a new pair of jeans.

***also "too many closets" I am dying to know how your trip to Seattle was.
Did you have to pay duty at the border?
What were the border line ups like? and how was Madewell and J Crew at U Village? THANKS Carolyn from Vancouver

  18. Whitney!! I have you to blame for purchasing the Snowbound sweater!!! Thanks for your glowing review!!!

  19. mickey is working hard to get the sales up!

  20. I just wish they would return items to the sale section like the cashmere cable--it went back to full price and I'm not biting until it is back on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sadly, everything I truly wanted it sold out in my size or completely gone now. I've been waiting for free shipping with no minimum forever too.

Anyone have reviews on the perfect shirt in solid? Or Perfect-fit colorblock tee? Does this fit TTS? I'm a small in the thermals...but hate clingy t-shirts...

  23. I had not realized there was a new darker wash of the Nolita jacket available, but I'm going to take my chances after the holidays and hope I can score a bigger/better deal. Love the Nolita denim, so much softer and less stiff than regular denim.

Doesn't it just figure that the one year I finally get it together and buy and ship everything way early that all these promos come out of the woodwork??

    ReplyDelete
  24. Picked up the polka dot popover with this promo!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm not buying anything with this promo because I just bought a NWT Marcella blouse from 2008 and the campo di fiori dress from another JCA. Happy to shop "vintage" JC instead!

I would like the nordic blue stadium cloth elements coat but I really do not need another coat.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I wouldn't mind another flair skirt, the talitha top, a schoolboy blazer and wool cafe trousers but I'm holding out for a bigger discount. Same for shoes. Or if I buy anything this promo, it will be the flair skirt and only that.

  27. Does anyone have a review on the faded chambray popover, especially with regards to how the sizing runs? I'm normally a small, but I have a couple of other popovers from J. Crew in XS because they run really big. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  28. @ rynetta PhD: Haha! You're welcome ;) I only wish that I had known about it when there were more colors available. Some other JCA's reviewed it in a post a few weeks ago...I can't remember their names but I owe them my thanks as well!

  29. Hi Whitney, can you comment on the fit of the Snowbound sweater? TTS?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Does anyone know if free shipping includes free return shipping?

    ReplyDelete
  31. @ mack: Yep, TTS. The body of the Snowbound sweater is the same weight as their cashmere tees and turtlenecks, but there is nice ribbing at the hem and cuffs (the ribbing isn't tighter, just thicker - no "blousing" at all). The fit skims the shape of the body in a really flattering way, and the little buttons on the shoulders (dark bronze on the heather grey sweater) give it personality. Lovely, cozy 100% cashmere. I wore it to the movies with my vibrant flame Minnies :)

  32. So glad I waited until today to place an order - I've had my eye on the flat espadrilles forever and finally ordered them. Any reviews from people who already have these?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Against my better (fiscal) judgment, I ordered the Biella patent loafers in bronzed clay. Does anyone else have them?

    ReplyDelete
  34. @unknown/carolyn from vancouver:
I had a pretty good visit to Seattle this weekend. Only went to the JC downtown, didn't have time for U. Village. Drive down Friday night was easy, return Sunday night was another story... 1.5 hr wait at the border, but thankfully no duty excised. I'll be posting reviews on my blog tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm already overextended on the recent promos to jump on this one, but I'm glad others are enjoying it! Though it does make me wonder if that's part of why we're seeing the higher retail prices - so they can offer promo after promo to hook people and still make the same margin...

OT question - does anyone else have issues with the Minnies being too wide in the calf? I finally tried them, and loved the fit down to the knee, but the calves were sewn in a way that sort of gave me "wings" there. It was partly the way they were pressed from the warehouse. I tried a pair in store though, and they still looked oddly large in that area. Do i just have too skinny calves for minnies? That's often the case for me with boots, but I've never encountered it with pants before. I loved them other than that, so that would make me sad. Just curious if anyone else has this problem because it seems like everyone always loves them! :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. My first thought when the email hit my inbox was, "Wow, they REALLY must have crashed and burned on Black Friday." But hey, keep the tempting promos coming!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anyone have a review of the polka-dot popover? It's backordered until February, but it looked cute in the latest catalog.

I think (also again my better judgement) that I will also order the warm jade cafe capris to go with this top from Anthropologie.

I've been returning about 80% of my purchases lately due to poor quality, so I don't have much hope for my upcoming purchases :(

  40. Does anyone have a review of the Wool Sweater-Dress?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Does anyone have a review of the honeycomb cable sweater? I am apprehensive if the quality is there, but LOVE the knit!

    ReplyDelete
  42. katherine-- the honeycomb cable sweater is nice but (for me at least) the arms were too tight and the bodice was boxy. i normally wear a small (XS once in a while) and the small fit, but i just didn't like it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I just bought the Crystal dot hand-enameled bracelet in papaya ... hope I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Torn between the vintage pajama set that I don't need per se and the slouchy sequins tee that I need even less but looks so pretty (and it's navy, my favorite color).
Also looking at the hooded poncho in black. I need something to wear with the striped leggings and this one looks cool. Anybody has it?
My excuse for one of these as ride-along is the Dodo case for iPad that I want to give my husband (and myself) for Xmas.
BtW, I stopped by a B&M and saw a lot of stuff that I hadn't seen before, like a new version of the Jules dress in a very bright floral print (I think it was silk) and a new double breasted navy blazer (same like the schoolboy but double breasted).

    ReplyDelete
  45. ajr,

I have the same problem with the minnie pant. I don't have large calves but they aren't skinny either. I loved the navy ones so much that I bought them despite the "wing" look. I have considered having them tailored but I just haven't made it a priority right now.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Does anyone know if the stores are still doing an extra 30% off sale items today? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I couldn't wait on the cafe capri in jade - had to go ahead and get them! I can wear them with boots until it gets "cold" here in SC. ;) There's so much more I'd like, but a Disney trip in less than 2 weeks plus Christmas means I must be good.

    ReplyDelete
  48. katherine, I sized down in the honeycomb sweater and really liked the fit. I thought it was flattering - the way the shoulders are made helped my broad shoulders look slimmer. I did find it itchy though, so I personally would only buy it on super sale.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ema- I reviewed the Poncho Hoodie
    here
I love mine in gray and even went back for another in the Dried Parsley. It just came in the mail today, and it's a lovely color-- much darker IRL, almost a pine or spruce color. Worth it with the extra % off.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Egyptomaniac, thanks! I saw your post actually but didn't remember until you mentioned it. Unfortunately the black that I was eyeing is now sold-out but good to know for the next promo.

No additional 30 off in stores today (but no fs).

I forgot to mention that I got to try the new toothpick in neon tangerine and they looked great in my regular size. I refrained from ordering them only because it will be at least 6 months before I can wear them and it seemed a bit silly. They were styled with an orange turtleneck in store but I doubt that they can really be winterized (also because of the cropped style). The cords on the other end were on sale in store ($59.99).

    ReplyDelete
  51. Math teacher, I love those cafe capris in jade too!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ema, I also have the poncho hoodie in gray and absolutely LOVE it and have gotten many compliments on it. Highly recommend.

  53. I've been meaning to do a review of the Keeper Chambray (#44875) $78 in case anyone has been in the market for the perfect chambray shirt to buy. I bought this shirt a few months ago and have been extremely impressed. IMO the color is perfect and can be paired with absolutely everything. It fits me TTS and similar to other boy shirts I've purchased. It has held up well through washes. I highly highly recommend. I even bought a back-up during this past weekend's 25%/30% coupon code to ensure that I'll have a perfect chambray in the years to come.

  54. @Whitney

I second rynetta, it's because of you that I also bought the snowbound. :) I purchased it in my usual size and also the size up and am a bit torn. I find that the snowbound sweater is a bit long on me (I'm 5'3") and the bottom hem tighter around my hips. I like the looseness of the S but I find if I make sure the hem hits around my waistband that I also like how it fits. Basically, it sounds like it is not skimming my body shape the way it is yours. Would you recommend sizing up or down? Do you think it'll shrink over time? Just curious!

  56. I should clarify because I think my last comment was confusing. In the size small, it seems to fit on the loose side. In my usual size, the XS, it is tighter on the hips but I find that I like how it looks when I pull it up and make sure it hits at my waistband. It is pretty long on me.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Sorry for another question on the Snowbound, but I am wondering about the length--I am looking for a sweater that runs longer rather than shorter. I am medium/tall with a long torso, and cropped sweaters are my nemesis! Let me know if you know about the length, JCAs!

    ReplyDelete
  58. @ yay.email: I don't think that you'll see any natural shrinkage in the Snowbound sweater over time (and I wouldn't recommend putting it in the dryer - that usually doesn't end well, haha), so I think that it's a matter of personal preference as to what size you like and how you want to wear it. Also, scan your wardrobe to see what kinds of pants/skirts you might want to pair with the sweater - skinny, flared, etc...their styles can help guide your decision. HTH! :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. whoa, Snowbound discussion! I ordered it in my regular size Small, and originally found the length a bit longer than say the cashmere turtleneck, but not crazy, more the way a pull over crew-neck you would want to fit. At first it seemed wide, and so I threw it in the dryer (sorry Whitney!) with a wet washcloth and it shrunk it perfectly. I also preferred the grey as the navy is not a true navy. FYI- I just mailed the small navy back to warehouse today so keep a look out for popbacks.

  60. Anyone else get the Wintress Puffer? I'm sad, I don't really like it and was looking oh so forward to a new version of their long puffers.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Well looks like today's promotion is 30% off outerwear LOL wow

    ReplyDelete
  62. @ pathos: I'm so glad that the dryer trick worked for you! I got lucky with that once by shrinking a man size lambswool sweater, but I have also ruined 2 cardigans so I'd never recommend it to anyone else. Strictly a "Do if You Dare" kind of thing ;)
