Sneak Peek: What's to Come this Summer {thanks Slastena & ajc!}

A big "thanks!" to Slastena (check out her "Oh La La-Spring- A LIttle Sneek Peek" post from her {amazing} About All and Nothing at All blog) who shared some more sneak peeks with us. {yey!} There is a little something for everyone in this batch of photos! Just click on any of the images to view them larger.

Brilliant blue seems to be popping up a lot in J.Crew's Summer collection. From tops to pants, this hue will be making its way into your closet!

Disheveled hair? Half-tucked shirt? Let's keep it clean and simple, J.Crew. It is what you do best! :)
And of course there are the color coded ballet shoes! The striped bow ballet flats are my absolute favorites. I got to see them in my local store and they are fabulous! The perfect nautical shoe for this Summer.

And while we are here discussing new arrivals, I want to highlight ajc's "Next Rollout Preview - Mid Feb 2012" and "Fitting Room Reviews - Mid Feb 2012 part 1" posts (from her fantastic "A JC Shopping Habit" blog).

Polka dots?! Oh J.Crew, I can't seem to quit you. I love them all! I want the skirt and the dress now. ;)

What are your thoughts? Has your opinion on the upcoming line changed? Are you looking forward to the upcoming new arrivals?

  1. Thanks for the preview!

Some of the really bright blues that actually look more purple irl won't make their way into my closet, but they sure are pretty. :)

  2. That all looks so beautiful! Cannot wait!

  3. Love the polka dotted dress(have been lusting/looking for a J.Crew one for years) and the paisley skirt... Not too fond of the print, it's a tad reminiscent of the most recent seasons but hoping there will be other colors/prints at that length. Will certainly save me time and $ by not having to buy a larger size and have it tailored down just for the length.(Though my Catholic school days are long gone,I'm only comfortable with skirts that cover my knees :)

  4. Thanks for the review, some lovely items and pictures. Did anyone else get the email for cardholders only. Viv suede flower flats, $198.00 item 64657. Strange since they are already on the website not much of Shop Them First benefit.

  5. Some very pretty, lively colours! I like it.

  6. Thanks Alexis for the blog love, I am very proud to be featured here!!! And thanks Slastena for the eye candy catalog images. I have posted pictures if the purple paisley skirt and blue paisley Talitha blouse on Flckr. The skirt did not look that long on me and I am only 5'6 so the model must be wearing longer sample. I hate when they do that, do they assume we are all munchkins?

  7. JustVisiting,

My thoughts exactly on the bright blues:)

Not sure about all the polka dot love. Yes, I like them but they are nothing new. I had a navy and white polka dot skirt/top that looked like a dress when I first started work in 1991. Too me they seem "old" and "dated" and not something I really want to repeat.

  8. I actually got the Stripe bow flats from the NYC sample sale in November. The ones I got were pointed-toe (like the Viv flats) and I think I prefer them to these round toe ones. They seem a little more sophisticated.

My sis got the bright blue silk shirt from the same sale and I was sooo jealous. I think that I still am, because hers doesn't have camp pockets, just regular patch pockets which I prefer.

I'm looking to get those brilliant blue pants. Hope they're the Minnie. Those pants require a halleluyah.

  9. Love the upcoming colors! OT but I wanted to let JCAs know that I received the Madelene dress today and I LOVE IT. It fits TTS (I'm a 2, ordered a 2), and at 5'7 hits about 1-2 inches below knee, but not in a matronly way. The cut is extremely classic, and doesn't make me look pregnant (as it seems to possibly do with the model). The color is a true kelly green, which I find universally flattering on all skin tones. Also, though the dress is wool, the wool is lightweight so falls more like a thick, crisp cotton. Perfect for all seasons with the right accessories. A BIG thumbs up!

  10. polkadotspolkadotspolkadots!!!!!!!! Can't get enough of 'em! :)

I'm also loving all of the beautiful colors. I can't wait to see what the next release holds for us. Thanks to Slastena and ajc for the previews!

  11. OK, I love the new print on the talitha blouse, but why do they have to keep putting new prints on the same items? The puff sleeves on the talitha look terrible on me, so now I won't end up buying the shirt even though I like the print. :(

Also OT, but review on the director dress: thumbs up. V-neck not too low to require a cami, short sleeves are lined, it's not itchy, and there are pockets and a back vent. Wool is lightweight so it's not substantial enough for winter weather but you can get 3-season use out of it. Fit is true to size to other JC suiting dresses.

  12. Hi Ladies, I just wanted to let you know that I reposted some of my Flickr fitting room pictures on my blog HERE including the picture of the new paisley skirt and blue print blouse.

  13. Thanks for the preview. I love that first catalog image but I'll bet the sweater is featherweight cashmere that pills like mad. Beautiful color though.

Cass, thank you for the review of the director dress. It sounds perfect!

  14. Thanks for the images! I wonder what else will be in the new rollout.

J Crew knows how to style outfits and take good photos to make their new items look very desirable. I will not be wearing a bright blue shirt with pink pants, though. It will make me look ridiculous.

  15. I got the good palpitations from this!! Loving the blues, I seriously screamed like a kid because the the looks are so beautiful. One question: why de-saturate the models complexions to drastically? Might as well use mannequins lol.
But I love what I'm seeing!!

  16. I retract my earlier statement. If the cardigan in the first picture actually looks like it's glowing under a black light in real life, even if it looks purple, I will have to have it. There's got to be some serious Photoshop work going on in that photo.

  17. Also, if those are classic red Minnies I see, I am giving major, major props to Mickey D. for listening to mine (and perhaps others) requests for exactly those, since vibrant flame isn't exactly an office-appropriate color for more conservative business casual places. Double ups; can't wait!

  18. I love those wine colored sandals!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm wondering if those bright blue pants might be the Minnies in the purple color online right now? I know when I try to take pictures of them for blogging purposes the pants look blue in the photos ...

I'm with everyone else, if those are true red Minnies, put me on the 'waitlist' {rolls eyes} now!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm hoping those blue pants are really blue and not purple (although I want the purple minnies, too). And I'd love the red, too!

  21. I love the flats! J. Crew is perfect for classic pieces :)

  22. At last! The promo we've all been waiting for

ONLINE ONLY: 20% OFF your order of $150+ WITH CODE FABFEB

    ReplyDelete
  23. Of course, just as soon as the 30% off sale ended, there is now a 20% off code...use FABFEB.

  24. Just visited online site and new promo. ONLINE ONLY: 20% OFF YOUR ORDER OF $150+ WITH CODE FABFEB. I will be ordering all the FP items I purchased and have not worn. I have already used my mini-brompton hobo so nothing I can do about that but will save some money.

  25. Does anyone know the purse in the first picture? Is it an Edie? I am thinking of using my rewards card and purchasing an Edie, but I am unsure. Any insights on the purse? Is it too narrow to get much inside?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am so happy about the 20% as I did place a spring order within the last week and I am sure my PS will give me a credit, so i just saved $100! Yay!

I do have a question: does anyone own the new Vivs? I am contemplating ordering the green ones, but wondering about size. I am consistently a 6.5 and they recommend ordering up 1/2 size. I have narrow feet and often "walk" right out of my shoes, so am nervous to go up the 1/2 size. Anyone have experience with them? THANKS!

  27. I don't trust the colors at all. I'll be happy when they move out of this oversaturated phase. Stop playing w/Photoshop already. I know they want to transport us, but there's a certain responsibility to depict the clothes accurately with all that final sale business.

Finally our promo code on fp items! Links to irl pics in this post.

  28. ebe - That looks like the Edie in casablanca blue.

  29. The tilliary tote looks like it's been removed from the site as soon as the code was posted. (Unless I'm so jet lagged I just can't see it!)

  30. Thanks for the preview Slastena, ajc, and Alexis! Count me in as one hoping J.Crew will finally be offering a true red.

  31. Ladies the new code: FABFEB works on FS items too.

Just got a popback Maisie in waterfloral and boy silk shirt in Navy as a back-up piece (I love this shirt so much. It's sad that I mistrust JC's quality so much that I have to order two of something I adore, just in case)

  32. had to hunt for the high-waisted denim pencil skirt # 65324, it was hidden but perseverance paid off -- all sizes are available again.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Curious to know what other items disappeared with the new promo. The liberty shirt we've all commented on before is sold out, apparently!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I just re-ordered the Perfect shirt in medium gingham (item #: 48821)
in ARTILLERY FATIGUE in my correct size, so I have a size 4 available for sale! karenturk1 at gmail :>

  35. The Sperry Topsiders in the fun colors are now hidden also :(

  36. I am afraid the Mini pants are not red it is just the light or lack of it. To give you an idea how photoshoped those pictures are look at the picture with the canvas Tillary tote. The maroon-like color on the purse and shoes is irl true red. I also posted new reviews, including Polka dot dress.

  37. The colors are bright and pretty. Mona seriously looks photoshopped in the first one.

  38. WMM, J.CrewJD has a review of the Viv flats on here blog HERE. Unfortunately it's not really positive but I hope it is helpful.

  39. Thanks xoxo! I think I will look at some weitzman's or kate spades for that price and that quality! too bad - they are so cute!
