"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I hate it when they arbitrarily increase the price of an item. For example, all of the tortoise hair accessories have increased in price as of today. The mini barrette used to be $6; it is now $10. That is a huge increase!

Madewell does it too. The Suede Sidewalk Skimmers magically increased from $88 to $98 overnight. WTH? Do they just think we won't notice? I guess many won't, but still... it bothers me.

  2. All prices have gone up. JC white jeans have been $98 for at least a couple summers. Now they are over $100.

  3. Madewell's final sale sucks. Of course any final sale sucks when it's online and you've never seen the item. Esp considering this overblown style of photography or Photoshopping that is plaguing many websites these days. The cloudy skies coat better rock my house or I'll be even more irritated.

  4. Just noticing that the day JC finally gives us a good promo again, you can hear crickets in the "vent" thread... ;)

  5. The hem stitching of the wildcat blouse came completely undone halfway through its first wearing. Same for the Morse Code Jacquard capris, a collection item! Thankfully I did not pay FP for either or I'd be pissed. Not that I'm not pissed anyway, but I'd be really mad if I'd spent even more. So, it cost me an extra $20 to have my tailor fix them. Irritating. I thought about taking them into my b&m but just didn't feel like dealing w/the hassle. Sighhhhhh

  6. Cass and Miss JR, Just wait until people start getting their orders and/or wearing the items. The vent part should fill up again:) ha ha

  7. After being sold out for the last month, I finally found the Chambray top in my size online. It was great that the website was offering 30% off sale. I received it today and was mortified when I tried it on. Is anyone else having an issue with the arms ? I couldn't fit my arms in the sleeves and it took me a good 10 minutes to maneuver myself out of the top. Anyone else have this issue ?

    1. Um, yes. I normally take a 6 in this type of top, but I had to size up to a 10 in the chambray top for it to fit. Even a 10 was hard to get on and off! I tried the 8 in store and definitely panicked trying to get it off. Looks like they messed up the sizing on this one! It could really use a zipper, too.

  8. I'm still tired of the t-shirts, and have quit buying them from J.Crew. I have several t's that I've worn MAYBE five times and they are pilling or have holes in them. Not cool. I have better luck w/ t's from Uniqlo or H&M!

  9. Does J.Crew no longer include dust bags with heels? My Mona suede pumps didn't come with one.

  10. Hi Denise, I have found it to be hit or miss. Some of my shoe boxes have the dust bags and others do not. It seems to be random and not based on design or price point.

  11. J Crew shoes are cute but the ballet flats have the hardest stiffest sole. It takes forever to break these babies in!

  12. This is a lucky vent, I guess. When the promo started last week I quickly ordered the citron pencil skirt. When I hadn't received a confirmation to my email an hour later (and it wasn't listed in my online account), I ordered it again. I called them in the morning to make sure the first order didn't exist and they assured me it didn't. I also had to ask for a PA since the skirt dropped in price between 2 am and 9 am!

Apparently they only look by email address, instead of by name or billing address, because it turns out the first order did go through as a 'guest' order (even though I was signed in), with the confirmation going to my little-used paypal email! Pissed off that I would be paying for and receiving 2 orders, I made sure they will cover the return shipping!

Well, I received my 'first' order today and they sent a size 12 instead of a size 2!! Good thing I 'had' to order it twice or I would be totally out of luck now! The colour looks amazing though, so glad I have another one on the way!

I will be very, very careful about using paypal though from now on...
