J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Tabitha (in this post), MissKitty (in this post), as well as Irina, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The July catalog (click here to view) is available to view. However, the latest Fall/August catalog is not yet up.

J.Crew is no longer keeping up with this feature in a timely manner. (Not sure why either.) Best bet is to pick up the new catalog in their brick & mortar (B&M) store.

Incidentally, catalogs for January, February, & March are still up (click here to view).

As for the new arrivals... If you are a fan of polka dots (and honestly, who isn't?!), then this upcoming Fall season is for you at J.Crew!

Adorbs! The Tippi sweater in polka dot (item 11808; $89.50) is such fun! I love the pairing of the fantastic Tippi with the oversized dots. My personal pick is the Navy/Burgundy combo.

Loves it! Did anyone else hear the song "Hello" (by Lionel Richie) playing in her head upon seeing the Polka-dot tie-neck dress (item 97186; $198.00)?!? This dress is perfection thanks to its classic shape and style (cap sleeves, yes please!) Polka dots, too? {swoon}

About that... Apologies in advance if you are a fan, but I just do not get the Archipelago Necklace (item 23206; $165.00). And clearly I do not, because this necklace already has a wait-listed date of August 6, 2012. I much rather buy another Bubble Necklace than get this one.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. I don't understand why they are not keeping the catalogue up to date, it is their most effective marketing tool, it creates a fantasy that we all want to buy in too, and now that they are international online with no B & M's, surely it's top priority? How else to hypnotise the foreign masses?! "?!" I hate those too together, but sometimes needs must.

  2. I'm excited about several things. The pleated skirt in wool crepe in vibrant fusciha looks gorgeous... I just hope it's not too short. Also the short sleeve crepe tee? Love. Hope the quality is nice- it's rayon.

    1. That top caught my eye too, but I was also concerned with the rayon. At that price, shouldn't they be able to make it in silk? I noticed that it's a catalog/online only piece (maybe b/c it's rayon?), which is a little concerning. Also, the Tie-Neck Top is also rayon, and catalog/online only. What's with all the rayon now?

      Delete
    2. I noticed those tops too, but the rayon is keeping me away. That price is for silk.
I also noticed a price increase on the classic pave bracelet from $118 to $125.

    3. I was loving the crepe tee until I saw 1) rayon and 2) "raw-edged neck and trim for a touch of undone cool" seems like code for "this is gonna unravel, y'all!"

      Delete
    4. Rayon = not buying, no matter the price. Why did they have to ruin such an adorable top with such awful fabric? Ugh. And the price is laughable. There are tons of cute tops at Marshall's that are made of rayon and are $12.99...

  3. I love much of the offerings this time and have noted a few on my blog this am!

There appears to have been more excitement this fall, which means that J Crew is perhaps offering a little of something for every taste??

  4. Liking the new Byzantine Blue color in the Silk Blythe. Still waiting for my long-awaited Shallow Sea to arrive in my local B&Ms! (I left my number w/ a PS and everything a month ago when the color first appeared on the website, but still nothing!) The Zigzag Sequin Tee in Natural looks fun; hopefully I can get it for less than $138. Accordion Pleat Top looks very wearable; I may contemplate both the Ivory and the Byzantine Blue. I've been wanting a rugged-looking, but clean, jacket like the Downtown Field Jacket for a while, so the Mossy Brown one may be on my list. I didn't consider the Ankle Stretch Toothpick Jean in Garment-Dyed Twill at first, but when I saw the Golden Sunflower one paired with the Zigzag Sequin Tee, the color immediately caught my eye. Also loving the Neon Violet and Shallow Sea colors - I love sweet pastels on the bottom! Not really caring for the new jewelry, but that's ok as I've got my eyes set on the Cabochon Fan pieces from the last rollout. I like the deliciously nerdy, bookish, 80s-luxe style of the Toni Tassel Loafers and Heels, but I may go elsewhere to look for nerdy loafers to get some for cheaper. I loved the two-two ballet flats with the horizontal chain that ajc posted in her in-store pictures; hoping those show up soon!

  5. OH my, just saw the Archipelago necklace... I'm in love.

  6. Thoughts:

    1. Love the classic shirtdress and kelly green Tippi cardigan.
    2. Prices in general are out of control - most of this stuff will be on markdown before it's cool enough to wear them.
    3. They brought back the Dream yarn AGAIN? Going on Year 4 of the Dream no-buy.
    4. Been watching for the polka-dot skirt to come out for a while - and it "grazes the knee" at 19"? Mmmmhmmmm.

I'm sure that JCA's can find lots to love in this rollout - not so much for me. Maybe it's just too darn hot to think about fall clothes at all! I'll wait till Sept/Oct when there are more blazer and coat options. As always, looking forward to all the JCA feedback!

    1. All's I want is 2 pencil skirts because I'll wear the hell out of them, and they'll go so well with all the merino Tippis I hoarded over the past 12 months. Truly nothing else appeals to me....

  7. I was surprisingly un-excited about the offerings. The fabrics and cuts are too fussy for me. The Booker boots look nice, but I wonder about the quality of the leather. I did note the sole is leather, which is good. Still, the leather looks thin. I think I will stick with Frye boots.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have a pair of tall/flat Booker's from last year. I like them, but the leather is much thinner than Frye leather. I haven't worn them enough to say whether the leather holds up to heavy wear. Although the leather is thinner than Frye's, it isn't bad and I had no thoughts of returning them for that reason. I think that's the look they are going for, more refined than rugged.

    3. I have Frye Melissa buttons in dark brown and they are my fave. I want to buy a cognac pair next. I wore my Fryes so much I put a hole in the inner lining of one of them! Can't see how that can be repaired so I just live w it.

    4. Hey @dagmara,
It's worth checking with the Frye repair center. I'm currently working with them to repair my mother's fryes from 1970.

  8. Kinda disappointed in the lack of printed cafe capris but the new solid wool colors are pretty. Love the black polkadots in the tippi and cashmere. Thr zigzag sequin top looks fab. Love that they continued print and sequins all around since that's a peeve of mine. Jewelry is meh for me except for the elephant bangle. Love it. The rest of the jewelry looks too evening and not daytime enough for my lifestyle. I just hope my rewards card is big because after OURTREAT my budget isn't.

    1. I agree. I think there will be more printed cafe capris to come. I love my kaleidoscope pair! (and was so glad they did not go on sale yet so I feel justified with paying full price) I like the new solid wool colors a lot but not sure if I'll buy because they are not lined - IMO wool really should be lined. I have my eye on the modern red schoolboy - love this color.

  9. I love the polka dot sweater too (though the Old Navy knockoffs are actually very cute--the camel in particular). I might have to get that burgundy sweater . . .

I don't understand the Archipelago necklace either. I like the Cabochon fan necklace, and dearly hope that flower necklace goes on sale (though it probably won't on the site and like all the other jewelry this fall, we won't know it's on sale until a nice community member stumbles on this fact).

I like the look book for fall--it's great to be able to scroll through the different outfits. I *really* like the intarsia sweaters and wonder how heavy weight they will be. Sigh. Horrible, hot weather in NYC lately. And I'm thinking about sweaters.

  10. I don't understand why Canadians can't view the catalogue online. You have to switch the settings to "ship to the U.S" in order to be able to view it. It's weird!

    1. I've never had to switch to US to view unless that's a recent glitch.

  11. I like all the polka dot items- shirt, dress and the skirt. The cashmere Tippi is nice, but I hope it doesnt replace the long sleeved cashmere tees.
The shoes finally have leather lining! They actually listened.
Overall the items are overpriced and I won't be buying anything warm until the summer is over.

    ReplyDelete

    1. A, isn't that exciting about the shoes? I love to think that they actually pay attention to what we say on this blog. Also, there are more tall sizes, which has been a longtime complaint of mine. Yay!

      Delete
    2. Yes J.Crew JD - they must have listened, that or the fact that their shoes are sitting in FS hell even at rock bottom prices. I can finally buy some shoes from them!

  12. I'm in Arizona and it's triple digits every day yet I'm super excited about buying fall clothes! Maybe the heat is making me delirious. I've skimmed through and can honestly say there are a lot of pieces that appeal to me. I haven't been this excited about a J. Crew rollout in a very long time. I'm also beyond thrilled to see some skirt and dress lengths that I can actually wear. I know I'll be making purchases, the first of which will be the no. 2 pencil skirt in snake print.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm not as excited as I thought I would be. I like the Blythe in polka dot. I think the Cashmere Polka Dot Sweater in Burgundy is cute too, but the price is outrageous and I had bad experiences with J Crew cashmere in the past.

  14. I would be interested to know what is going on at the B&ms in the next few days. New arrivals won't be in til next week. I think I smell some new markdowns to give them something to do. There are a few pieces, the pop art polkadot capri for example, that have been full price forever. Any thoughts from anyone out there?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. My B&M told me they aren't putting anything new in the sale section before next week's rollout. The sale section right now is very sparse (although I just found the Java Tunic Dress there!). I think they'll use that real estate for new arrivals. It seems odd that the new arrivals are coming in while most of the shorts are still full-price.

    2. I'm going to the SoHo NYC b&m today after work, and I will report back. The SoHo store usually has the best sales selection (in my opinion) of the NYC stores, and always seems to be adding new things there too.

  15. Fall has always been my favorite roll-out so I'm not surprised to see items that I must have (elephant bangle for sure). Luckily, my tendency to immediately impulse buy is being restrained due to the sticker shock from which I'm currently suffering. Even staple items like the No. 2 in wool have risen in price. WHY??! Also, it's quite hot in nyc so that's helping me step away from the computer too. Must. Stay. Strong.

  16. Double serge pencil skirts available in tall sizes = YAY!

Adorable looking from afar short sleeve crepe top made of RAYON = BOOOOOO! Would not buy that even if it was $9.99.

Lots of cute things though... I'm excited about this rollout and will be ready to purchase in about three months when it's all on sale!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I actually spotted a few new arrivals at a B&M store earlier this week. I bought the Oxford boy shirt in polka dot at B&M store the Bridge Water Commons, NJ on Monday. It is a really clean pattern and the material is heavy and comfortable.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yikes! I thought I was done shopping for awhile, but nooooooo.... They brought out the big guns: my corduroy pants! And those polka dots! Eeek! I think I'm going to have to return a few recent purchases to free up a little wallet space for the next promo. Even if it is for fall clothing in July.

    ReplyDelete
  19. LOVE the pencil skirt in snakeskin, cafe capris in silky dot, and the zig-zag sequin tee in mint! Look forward to seeing reviews to either confirm my love or quickly cross them off my wish list.

  20. OT But just purused the sale, seeing what was inevitably added after the end of the promo, and the featherweight cashmere cardigans are on PROMO (i.e. NOT FS for some colors, some do say FS) for $54.50!!! This has got to be a mistake, but I bought four and it went through. If anyone else is as obsessed with these as I am, go buy now!

    4. You have to find the sweater through the sale section. If you search for featherweight cashmere cardi and click on the link it's all the full price ones. If you go to sale, women's sweater and find it - there are many colors for $54.50 and some are not final sale! HTH!

  21. The herringbone tweed in purple with the Liberty d'Anjo and the double-serge festival blue with the new Jacquard dot popover (sold out now???) will hopefully be mine in two months.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I am shocked by the price of the photo floral pieces, the popover in particular. I was expecting $300 and hoping for $200 but $700???? The only thing that could be a must have/fp splurge for me because very much my style it's the Collection crystal necklace shirt but need to see/try IRL before pulling the trigger. And why are they teasing us with the peter pan collar sweater if it isn't even available for preorder (or at least couldn't find it on my phone).

    ReplyDelete

    1. I love the Peter pan look but wish it was a blouse so you could wear it under all your crew neck sweaters.

  23. I am underwhelmed by the new items and overwhelmed by the prices. I do like some of the colors of cords - so glad to see the toothpicks don't have the zippers on them this year. :) I like the accordian pleat top, hope it's flattering on. I really like the optic dot tee in navy. I like the pencil skirt in abstract floral, but why the high price??? I might (and usually do) change my mind after trying items on, but that's it for me. Oh, and I won't be wearing cords until January (maybe December, maybe).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I am happy too that they got rid of the zippers on the toothpick cords but they should cost less not $20 more of the version with zippers!

      Delete
  24. Since I'm not on the polka-dot bandwagon, nor do I 'dress' for work, my picks are always pretty basic, & it looks like they keep rolling them out, which is a good thing. More perfect shirts in mini-gingham (but after acquiring one more color I won't need any other colors unless they invent a new one), ink-dip popover's in more colors (finally!), & new colored cords - why must I be attracted to brightly colored pants I will never muster the courage to wear out of the house (neon fuchsia cords).

Also, JCrew has updated the sale section categories with subcategories.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Erin, which colors did u get? I don't see any for $54.50

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm with you....that necklace looks like a mess! But I do like the pink elephant bracelet. First look I see a couple of things I like....the navy shirtdress, the two tone loafers (I can't decide what color to get!) the abstract flora print no. 2. I know there will be more coming, so I'm trying not to need everything! Where are the printed capris? I always like those!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Silver Lining....I'd have to style that 19" skirt like J. Crew does to get it to graze the knee. Wearing two sizes too big and hanging from the middle of my hips. What do the REALLY tall gals do at the Crew? I'm 5'9" and find almost every dress too short and all the skirts hit above my knee, except the extra long pencils....which I wish they would make a regular item.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. J.Crew JD is reporting above that pencil skirts now come in tall. Perhaps this means that their dresses will also start coming in tall down the line as well?

I am 5'7.5" and although leggy, find the skirts, pants, etc to fall at appropriate lengths. J. Crew is about the only shop I don't need a long in.

      Delete
    2. There are two more suiting dresses offered in tall now, too! Before it was just the memo dress which didn't suit me. Now the origami and the emmaleigh come in tall... so exciting! I am most excited about the origami. The regular one is about 6" too short to be office appropriate for me. Must try the tall now!

  28. I hate to say it but I am sooooo underwhelmed by this rollout. It all looks so dull and boring. Bring Marissa back!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Maybe the prices are higher, so that when they put them on sale in two months they can recover a little bit more on the final sale. It's a weird marketing model, but it makes sense in my head. Sort of....ha!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well I'm happy to see polka dots will still be in come Fall. Good news for my polka-heavy closet :) I am loving the Herringbone wool No 2 pencil skirts, esp. the purple color. Thank goodness most of the double-serge colors are too similar to colors I already have. Don't think I will "need" any of them this year, unless that "retro jade" color ends up being closer to a turquoise, in which case...

  32. I actually found quite a bit more to like in this rollout than I have in many, many months. I have the Zigzag Sequin tee and Photo Floral skirt (not yet on the website) on my list to try. I also like the polka-dot top, classic shirtdress, downtown field jacket in navy, polka-dot invitation clutch, and the jeweled collar sweater (from ajc's preview post) that is also in the Collection Lookbook today.

    ReplyDelete
  33. OMG - I now have twenty items in my cart and need to do some serious editing!

  35. I was a little underwhelmed this morning. I saw some items from pictures that I am really interested in so maybe the next rollout will have more for me.

  36. I posted reviews of No 2 pencil in snakeskin, Polka dot Blythe, short sleeve polka dot shirt and peter pan collar sweatshirt HERE. I will have the pink pleated crepe skirt and more reviews tomorrow. The skirt is above the knee on me (5'6"), sitting at waist, but it is not too short and should be totally fine with tights imo.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Straycat-- I'm with you-- only 5'8" but long legs and frustrated with too short things. The pencils are OK, but hoping for an A-line type that actually does come to the top of the knee.

  38. You know what I really don't get....those OGJM necklaces. they look like those handwoven potholders I made for my mom when I was a little kid.

    3. I think we need to get our looms out and maybe we can make up a bunch to sell and make some money to pay for all our new fall wants. Just one problem: I don't think anyone will want to buy them.Ugly! Straycat: I thought of you when I saw that new elephant bangle. To die for! I finally found the enamel ram bangle Saturday and am thrilled. I see the ram as more of a fall piece and am looking forward to wearing it with my dark colors.

  39. There are only a few items I am really interested in this roll out and unfortunately I already own them. I am very underwhelmed.

  40. Also, I think there may be a new color of the bubble necklace coming out. I saw an orange one this morning in the sale section and it did not look like the papaya colored one from spring.

  41. Mathteacher & David, I agree. Underwhelmed by the design direction & overwhelmed by the prices. The peter pan collars have been done last fall by high street chain stores and the photo prints by Zara last spring. I'm sticking to their staple pencil skirts & perfect shirts, but even the basics have gone up in price. When did trouser cords become $118? These were $78 last year. On second thought, I'm doing my fall shopping in November when all these will be on sale.

    2. I will scan the catalog and put it on The J. Crew Archives as per usual as soon as I get it. It sounds like some others have gotten the catalog from their B&Ms, so I will go in today to see if they have it.

      Delete
    3. I just stopped by several B&Ms in the area, and they have neither the catalog nor the new items. I was told however, that the catalog would be mailed at the end of this week and would likely be in stores when the new rollout is in stores next Wednesday, so whichever way I receive the catalog sooner, I'll post it ASAP!

      Delete
  43. @ A: If they phase out the Cashmere L/S Tee in favor of the Cashmere Tippi, I swear I'll go postal.

Like everyone else, I am bummed that both the Short-Sleeve Crepe and Tie Neck Tops are Rayon. Not paying $110 bucks for a little synthetic blouse, no way. We'll see how I feel once they hit the sale section next month. I'll never like the Snakeskin printed items for myself, but the pencil skirt looked terrific on AJC in her preview post yesterday and I'm sure it will look just as great on other JCA's.

I'm seeing a lot of things that I really like, and I'm trying to figure out if I can get away with wearing a full-on sequined tee to the office (crushing HARD on the Zigzag Sequins), but the abundance of wool in the new rollout guarantees that I'll be able to hold back on most of it until it goes on sale. The weather here won't be wool-friendly for another 3 months. In the meantime, I'll be eagerly awaiting everyone's reviews :)

  44. What a great post. I just put a few of my favorites on my blog (www.ontrendorchids.blogspot.com)
I was sorry that so few of the awesome pieces in store made it online. I did find some "covetable!" pieces, but by and large I thought the online presence was diluted. I wish they would make more shells without ruffles at the collar(Nicky) because I love a sleeveless blouse for layering, but I don't feel that the ruffle collar still looks fresh.I am going to see if they have any in store today.

  45. My only "needs" are #2 pencil skirts in acorn and black. Everything else can wait until sale.

And I know that this isn't particularly relevant but I really dislike the photo of the blonde model in the dotted Tippi sweater. Ugh, the styling is so budget! Like a tacky 80s sorority girl.

  46. Love so much of this! Question, does anyone have the Edie purse? Can you really fit anything in there? The opening appears very narrow!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I used to own the Edie purse and sold it because it was too small (ended up buying the Edie attache, which is the right size for me). If you are someone who tends to carry just the essentials the Edie purse is perfect - cell phone, keys, small wallet, lipstick and a mirror. If you carry more than that, it will not fit. The Edie purse is quite stiff/structured and does not like to be stuffed.

  47. Also, does anyone think it's weird that the color crush necklace is already on promo?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Really like a number of the pieces already mentioned and I am especially happy to see so many options in navy ... it feels fresh to me for fall, and I need a change from both the neon brights of this season AND all the dull black/gray/tan neutrals filling my closet.

I love it but I'm on the fence about all the snakeskin print. It seems to trendy for my lifestyle to invest in a big purchase, while for some reason, leopard seems much more classic and timeless. I don't think I can make the skirt work, but I really like the scarf and maybe the shirt.

As for the prices, most are outrageous and I don't like the rayon fabrications. Not worth it. I kind of disregard FP these days, because everything moves to sale so quickly, in plenty of time for in-season wear. I'm happily compiling my wish list!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I also noticed that in the Fall 2012 Lookbook, the Wixon purse is shown in that beautiful forest green color...but now, the Wixon is nowhere to be found on the site at all, even in the usual offerings that were there days ago. I don't understand the removing of items one day and bringing them back a day later.

I am glad the Downtown Field Jacket is available in the moss brown color. I saw the navy in person the other day and while it was beautiful, I prefer the moss for myself.

  50. I like this roll-out. I plan to get the Super 120s skirt suit in the Deep Lagoon (is this color still appropriate for a conservative job interview?). There are several things I want. I LOVE the simple little short sleeve crepe top and the short-sleeved tie neck blouse but WHY RAYON?! Gross! I was ready to add the crepe blouse to my cart when I noticed that. No thanks! I'd expect rayon from a Target or department store, NOT J.Crew. Not cool, not cool at all J.Crew. :-(

  51. The best part about new arrivals is not only all the new clothes, but also the additional colors to the current clothes! I am OBSESSED with the vintage v-neck tees and love all the yummy new colors!

And major boo to seeing wool pants and jackets - considering I'll still be in 90-degree temps for two months. Come on, fall!

  52. So much to love in this rollout!!! I'm planning out my fall/winter wardrobe right now and there's quite a few things in there which are just what I was looking for. After spotting them in the Fall lookbook, I was expecting high prices on the photo floral print items - $700-$800 seems their price point for what they think will be highly covetable Collection items, like the No. 2 sequin pencil skirt. Oh well, I will try to stay strong and wait for it to go on sale!

No. 2 pencil skirt in herringbone (ALL 3 colours)
    Pencil skirt in pepper tweed
    Everly cap toe leather pumps
    Biennial medium satchel
    Edie grand
Girl's Cambridge Satchel Company metallic satchel
Golden paisley pattern on all the swimsuits

I am not a fan of huge, chunky necklaces either.

  54. I was excited about the Etta cap-toe but they actually ruined it a bit for me with the golden insert between the two colors.
Also like the new big Edie (I bever liked the handle in the Edie) but wish they made it in a neutral instead of the spice gold color and the boring black.

  55. The messy hair is driving me crazy! I like the photo floral print but not the outrageous prices for it. The skirt (not yet online) is a whopping $595.00. I almost wept at seeing those cute blouses in RAYON! Ugh. This is the first time I have purchased NOTHING the first day of the roll-out. :(

    1. I have the Oxford popover in aqua, and I LOVE it. Really hoping they'll make it in more colors - the light blue is very similar to the chambray (which I already own), so I would love a pink or light green version. :)

  59. I added the following to my wishlist (on amazon, since J Crew still hasn't added that feature...):
*Leather bow skinny belt in black
    *Invitation Dot Clutch
    *Polka Dot Crepe Pleated Skirt
    *Aqua Floral Allie Dress
*Tie Neck Top in any/all colors (tentatively because it's rayon and $110.00--but it's so cute!)
    *Port of Call Sweatshirt

The only thing I would even consider at full price is the Port of Call Sweatshirt and I want to see the fabric weight first. It seems like it would still be ok for summer though with a pair of shorts or capris...everything else can wait till at least October, or when it goes on sale.

    1. Also, there was a TON of stuff I loved for my daughter in crewcuts! She has a school "color code" (can wear anything in white, navy, or khaki) and there were a lot of dresses and tees that fit the bill. (I may also consider getting some of it in a size 14 for myself--stripe tee with sequinned heart on the pocket, I'm looking at you...)

  60. so ladies... any chance there might be a promo for the new stuff soon? i actually have a few "first round" things for an order... despite my itchy trigger finger, i'm really trying not to buy full priced items even if it is for basics.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I won't be buying much of this rollout...if anything. I'm too old for Peter Pan anything and bow tie blouses. Especially polka dot bow tie blouses. I don't like rayon or snakeskin...real and otherwise. I'd like a pencil skirt in navy and in forest green. I like the shirtdress in navy and agree with other posters...yah for navy! I like the two tone loafers, but I'm sure we'll see every shoe maker do them. So I'm going to wait. I never did the neon thing and frankly I'm polka dotted out. I think I'm just shopped out! I probably will see something in the catalog I like because I can't really tell anything by the photos on the website. Looking forward to checking at the items in store next week. Oh and I think they must have figured out the the Edie is too small for lots of women....so yah! for the Edie Grande.

    1. straycat - I'm totally with you on the navy and forest green (as long as it was a pretty forest green) pencil skirts. Those are two of my wardrobe staple colors. I like the Edie Grande too, but the colors don't fit with my wardrobe.

  66. Okay: I like the TIPPI polkadot (gray); the short sleeve crepe was pretty but rayon? Agree with you guys on that price for that material. Love the rugby stripe boatneck too. The polkadot blouse is pretty; I have the black and cream popover from last fall and wore it all the time; would be nice to have a dressier version in navy! I will skip on the skirt and dress in spots...too much. Need the large Eddie in Yellow. Also need the schoolboy blazer in brown (I cannot believe I do not have brown)? I think I'm corded out...I have plenty from years ago (back in 2006) that I like better than recent versions; I'm good on sweaters too. shoes, I like the heels but they are not something I really wear to work...flats are my go to. Loving the zig zag sequin tee. Love a lot of the fancy prints and fabrics but they are just too dressy for me and my job. Really liking the silk polka dot capri!
I like the necklaces but I'm over all the bubble necklaces. Too many now. The Jenna picks are messy and bad in my opinion. Also, not many of us can pull off the messy hair look --- my step boys think I"ve gone crazy when I look like that :)

  67. I'll probably pick up a no. 2 pencil skirt in wool, those are staples in my wardrobe.... Wondering if j.crew invested in a sequin manufacturing plant a few years back - can't think why else they push sequins so heavily year-round. Even with $500 knocked off, I doubt they're moving many Collection Sequin-stripe midi skirts.

I hope they'll be offering more jackets closer to fall. Where's this year's iteration of Bella/Fiona/Ecole?

    1. If you're referring to the ones that were on sale for $54, I called my local store to put three on hold for me and picking them up tonight, they are honoring the website price. Not sure if they will still do that since they're sold out online but it might be worth a shot. I don't trust ordering through the website since I've had items I had my heart set on disappear after I got the order confirmation.

    2. Katie - The featherweight cashmere cardis are sold out. I'm wondering if it's an error that they corrected based on discussion here. Lucky are those that got them. May your orders ship!

  71. For Canadians the feather weight cardi comes up as $64 and not FS. I could get the navy but am passing on light cashmere ...no time to wear it. The sale section in Vancouver is jammed with all the usual suspects...in otherwords nothing special there.
The archipelago jewelry is just weird and for the price does not look worth it regardless of taste. The hycinieth pieces are even worse.
I saw the green brompton IRL ... dark green not my cup of tea...maybe it will look better in Nov.
I can't believe the prices ...I know I will only buy on sale ...no FP of this gal.

And, has anyone seen the photo floral print IRL? Does it read "special" like Mirabel because at those prices it should be VERY special! It's so hard to tell online. Black-and-white can look so waitressy on me ... not a big White House Black Market fan.

  74. I love reading these comments on roll-out days! I am loving some of the Collection stuff (green wool dress, organza fancy coat and dress) but I won't be buying them as they are not sensible for my life and goodness knows I have enough party frocks anyway. I did indulge myself by ordering the elephant bangle and the long sleeve Collection tees, that linen/silk will either be great or too sheer.
I want to try the cords in order to be practical as well. I like the navy and the chocolate brown. No skirts for me, I bought wool pencil skirts in the spring on sale in acorn and black.
I don't love any of the purses thank heavens, and strangely I am not attracted to any of the black/white or polka dot pieces. Very pretty but just not my style.
The poly items are killing me! Especially the Collection green skirt, why are they doing this?

  76. I had to run to Neiman Marcus to pick up a dress today, so I stopped by J.Crew while I was there. They are still running the 40% off promotion, and will likely continue to do so until next week, when all the unsold sale merchandise gets shipped back to the warehouse. My store will be getting the new arrivals on the 25th, with their official new arrivals event happening on the 26th.

I did pick up the new catalog, and while I do like several of the new items (which I posted about on my blog today, and also mentioned earlier in this post), I do not care for most of the styling in it at all. There are a couple of outfits that I think look nice, such as the one with the Zigzag tee and Photo Floral skirt (that image is on Slastena's blog and also on mine), but the other combinations really leave a lot to be desired, as does the catalog in general. I really miss the catalogs from several years ago, and wish J.Crew would consider making them like that again.

Life as a cat said she plans to scan the catalog for the J.Crew Archives when she picks it up today, otherwise I would have been happy to scan and post it for everyone.

Also want to mention that the Men have their own style guide, which appears to just be the Men's section of the regular catalog, and it was in the Men's section of the store on a table.

I will buy the Waverly chinos in Vintage Blush as I buy most of the Waverly colors. 91. Totally underwhelmed but I'm not surprised. The polka dot sweaters look like Target finds IMO. Would you buy them if you saw them in the window of another store? I doubt it. Very childish and not in an ironic way.

The tassels on the Mona appear to be (ahem) aroused. Down boy! Toni loafers have glue showing and defects on the vamp in the stock photos, no thanks, especially after having to exchange my Collection snakeskin Valentinas due to defects. There were tons of the linen Tonis on ebay this summer, all with a line through the label. Go figure.

OK, some pencil skirts will probably find their way home with me so I can give them that and I have the exact corduroy shorts in cobalt blue that I bought from the men's section years ago, NK. I'll post a pic of them when I get home. Too funny.

A lot of the items and especially the jewelry pieces look very cheap and quickly dated to me. Oh well, fast fashion has never been my thing.

  92. I definitely liked a number of items this morning, though I'm not up for paying FP on really much right now. I love the green wool dress and the shirt dress! I'm disappointed that the b&w popover is so over-the-top expensive. Not even in the realm of possibilty.

Shariyu, I got different information on the Jeweled Peter Pan Sweater (with the herringbone body and camel sleeves). I'm interested in this one, though it could be a disaster, lol. My PS said it would ship Aug 9 and will be $178, which seems at least fairly reasonable.

Also, the prices are crazy! Thank goodness it is still 100 degrees here and by the time fall actually rolls around, these items will all have hit sale. Also--all the synthetic fabrics, YUCK! $110 for a rayon top, no thanks.

With that said, fall is my favorite fashion season and I did manage to find some items that I need/want/love:

Snake Blouse - I guess to get silk, you have to pay $250. I might bite, on sale only.
Minnie in Green - The wool cafe capri's do not flatter my figure, but I do like the minnie cut. The green is cute.
Silky pleated pant - Will need to try on, but I like these, despite being rayon. Definitely a sale purchase.
No. 2 in snake print - silk/wool blend...YES. Glad to see another animal print besides leopard.
Pepper Tweed Jacket - have been looking for a jacket like this. hopefully the quality is there!
zig zag sequin tee - love this, but not sure how I'd style it. Maybe a good date-night top.
Printed everly cap toe heels - oh these are amazing, but only at 50% off or more. Guessing my only shot will be to snag at a warehouse sale.
printed scarf in the terracotta geometric print - cute, seasonless

Now off to peruse the catalog, thanks FFM!!!

  106. JCrewJD, I can't reply so I'm commenting again. Are you planning to try one of the tall suiting dresses? I saw that the Emmaleigh is now available in tall and like you, I'm curious. That "falls above knee" crap really annoys me because it's meaningless. Everyone's knees are in a different place depending on their height. I'm really hoping the tall sizes don't expose thigh like the regular ones did. I don't know what kind of offices J. Crew's suiting designers have been in but that length doesn't fly in any I've worked in.

    1. Desert Flower, I am going to order the origami and emmaleigh just to try them. I really hate the "falls above knee" thing, too! That also makes me think that even the talls will not be a conservative enough length, but I still want to try. I own the tall memo and it is great but emphasizes my already large shoulders. The waist placement and length are perfect (at the knee).

I have loved the emmaleigh and origami styles since they came out but wasn't even tempted because of the obscene length on me. Let's hope the talls are actually office appropriate for us! I'll do a post on my blog when they arrive!
