Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new FALL/WINTER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. My PS emailed me yesterday to let me know that a new promo will start today. 25% off full-price sweaters. I'm assuming it's in-store only, since I don't see it online.

Tomorrow's my birthday, so I might buy myself some new Tippi sweaters with this promo.

If anyone has a 20% off coupon they'd like to share, I'd be very appreciative.

    2. Oh great, I have my eye on Oversize merino pocket sweater in Nightfall blue, I think I will snag it with 25%+20% off!
Btw, this sweater looks like nothing on the website but, it is great irl. It is way more oversized than it looks on model, more like a tunic length and great with skinnies. If I buy it I will do a review on my blog.

    3. I have been waiting for a sweater promo, holding on to the last of my 20% off codes. I only used one code myself because I haven't been interested in much lately so I gave the rest away on my blog or to people who requested here on JCA. Except for that ONE. LAST. CODE.

I want another cashmere LS tee so I hope they are included in the promo and it is offered online. Maybe after the current promo expires? Here's hoping.

    4. I purchased the Oversize Merino Pocket sweater in nightfall blue last weekend and I LOVE it. Wish i had the promo, though. I usually wear a S in sweaters, and never a XS, but I got an XS in this sweater, and I'm busty. It is long, and absolutely oversized, but the V-neck prevents it from looking like a sack. As mentioned above it is great with skinnies, pixies, and leggings.

I personally did not like it with my skinny jeans, because the colors clashed. Maybe I will get the grey color if they have the right size in stores!

    5. I have that sweater in grey and love it!!! I've only worn it w/jeans that are almost leggings. Looked so cute!!! The reason I passed on the blue was b/c I didn't think it'd look cute w/jeans.

    6. Starrflyr13 or ladies-do you know when the in-store 25% full price sweater promo, ends? I want the fair isle sweater and did not have the chance to buy it during the last in-store 25% off sweater promo. Thanks for the heads up!

    7. JSR: I just received an email from my store stating that the promo is good until Wednesday the 17th.

    8. Does anyone know if I can combine the 20-off deal with the 25 percent on sweaters? Does JC let you stack promos like that or not? Also, I am interested in the oversize merino v-neck, but I am only 5'2". Would the XXS would be ridiculously long on me? Thanks!

      Delete
    9. I bought the XXS and I am 5"9 and it fits amazingly, normally I by small or med in J Crew sweaters so I would try it first. I wore mine last night with Mini's and it looked amazing and really comfy.

    10. OK, I bought it! Review HERE.
Bought it in small, which is smaller of my sizes. I LOVE it!!!

  2. I might go w/ my mom tomorrow, although I was there last night to make returns and left empty handed, even with the sale promo going on. There's just nothing that stands out to me or that hasn't been done before.

Case in point: I was wearing the double cloth envelope coat from last year. A SA asked me if it was JC, then proceeds to tell me how they have a new one this year, except the zipper is hidden. Like I would be interested in purchasing a nearly identical coat. Yawn, I already have one!!

  3. Ohh also for all of the DC/VA/MD JCA's - I overheard some SA's chatting at the Tyson's Galleria store. Sounds like they are moving men's to a separate location and turning the existing store into a Collection store, with bridal.

Very interested to see how the product mix changes. I've Usually done well with the sale section there so I hope that doesn't change! Pentagon city is too small, and Georgetown is too crazy busy!

    1. Eeeek, I agree, their sale section is phenomenal!

    2. Wow! I live in South Florida and I think the closest J Crew with bridal is in NY... Nice. I am also a fan of the JC at Tyson's Galleria. Awesome store.

      Delete
    3. Have you been to 950 F Street store yet? Sometimes I stop in on my way home from work and it is never crowded, it's great! The sale section is not as expansive as Tysons and crazy Georgetown, but it also may have sale items for a longer period of time due to the small crowd.

      Delete
    4. Isn't it 930 F Street? I say that only because I spent most of the '80s and half the '90s at the old 9:30 Club, which is the space J.Crew took over.

  4. I am going to the concept store at Garden State Plaza tomorrow and will definitely report back! I know AJC posted tons of great pics on her blog of the new rollouts that are in that store, but if I see anything else, you all will be the first to know!

Unfortunately I attended the David Yurman sample sale last night in NYC and have thus put a big crimp in my shopping, so tomorrow may now be strictly BROWSING and praying for promotions! :(

    1. Jessy - How did you find out about the Yurman sample sale? I'd like to know when these happen. If you don't want to answer here, email desicarlson@aol.com. Thanks!

    2. I follow a wonderful blog called Madison Avenue Spy for news of sample sales and other great events. I don't know how they do it but I love them.

  5. I might just to browse but nothing is really exciting me at the moment.
I checked out Madewell last night and although they didn't have any of the new arrivals I was eyeing yesterday (minus the cute bulldog ring which I'm sporting today, there was an additional 25% off all sale items and the section was full of goodies. I bought a pair of the suede sidewalk skimmers and boy jeans.

  6. Jessy, looking forward to your report back. I don't have a B&M near me, so thanks to you AJC and all the JCAs, I get a sense of sizing, quality etc. Has anyone tried the Factory square sequin tank? Would love a review if you have. Thanks!

  7. Does anyone know if the polka dot Tippis are on sale in store? I saw a bunch when I was in on Wednesday but the tickets hadn't been marked down, and today I noticed it was in the sale section online but completely sold out. Not an item I need per se, but one I'd happily acquire at a decent price.

Also, has anyone seen the argyle sweater in the navy colorway at any of the NYC B&Ms? I had it in my cart this morning as I was about to leave for work and figured I'd place the order as soon as I got in twenty minutes later - of course by then my size was gone. I can't decide what to pair with the multicolor tweed skirt and I'm actually quite intrigued by the way those two items were paired online.

    1. I know the burgundy ones (polka dot tippi) are on sale for sure at $59.99. My friend wanted the carbon sandstone one but it wasn't marked down last weekend. Not sure about the gray/pink.

      Delete
    2. Thanks, Annie! I know the gray/pink colorway was on sale online this morning but sold out, so maybe the sale is just on certain colors but good to know they're running it in stores too.

      Delete
    3. You're welcome! I think online, all three colors are on sale because I saw an XL of the carbon one this morning. I hope they mark all of them down in stores soon! :D

      Delete
    4. Dara, I also saw the grey/pink in the sale section but no sale sticker.

      Doh!

      Delete
    5. Just came back and my store had a whole bunch of the grey/pink and carbon/sandstone, neither marked down. They called another store to check prices and the grey/pink was indeed on sale while the carbon/sandstone was not. Of course, since I was already at the register with both sweaters and they're running a 25% off sweaters promo, I caved and bought both. Seems silly buying two of the exact same sweater (and paying a $22 differential) but I figure the color combos are so different that I'll end up styling each one totally differently.

I may be crazy but was someone asking about the polka dot clutch earlier? I checked and it was marked $59.99 in-store. They had quite a few at Madison & 45th and there were signs advertising an additional 25% off final sale.

    6. Haha, Dara -- don't worry you're among fellow JCAs. ;) I don't even dare to count the number of items for which I bought multiples in different color!

  8. Nope.....the only thing I want now is the Classic Link necklace. But I'm waiting for a sale of some sort since it's expensive. I didn't like the bracelet because the links were so large and clunky on my wrist, but I think it would be great as a necklace.

I may roll by the store to pick through the sale section this weekend ... I scored some very random popbacks this morning before work. The orchard-print Tippi ($35), the brulee necklace in the teal color ($35) and the pullover/boatneck chambray blouse for ~$56. Yesterday I bought the deck-stripe bikini in the green/navy stripe and also a pair of the Tretorn for Nylite canvas shoes; couldn't resist at ~$18 post-discount.

  21. No B&M for this weekend. I made an online purchase a couple nights ago of the Everly cap toe printed T-strap pump in sweet orange. I own the solid color Vibrant Fuchsia and will be returning those after I receive the sweet orange print. I feel the printed Everly will match well with a lot of solid color outfits, and can also be worn during the spring/summer season.

I am just looking forward to the new roll-out next week. Perfect timing around my birthday. :)

  22. Has anyone tried the classic wool mini this year? I very nearly bought the navy today but as soon as I picked it up, I realized what an incredible lint magnet it was. I was holding it for no more than 20 seconds when I realized it had picked up tons and tons of fuzz from other items nearby in the store and even a couple strands of my hair! I thought about my cats and hung it back on the rack promptly. Wondering if they cheaped out on the wool this year in comparison to last year, because it truly is my favorite skirt from last year and I'd love to pick up some more colors. (Must stay away from antique white though - I buy one every year and stain it to death!)

    1. Sorry, one more question... am I losing my mind or was it ticketed $89.50 in store yet it's $98.00 online?

    2. Hello Dara:

I got the classic wool mini in fuschia a couple of weeks ago. The original price is $98 and I got it with 20% off. Upon quick comparison with the grey mini I got last year, I could notice a quality difference. The new one has 80/20 wool vs. nylon and the old one has 69/31 wool vs. nylon. Despite a higher wool content in the new one, it feels smoother when you brush your hand through the skirt when compared to the old one. Therefore, I think the new one actually has better quality. It surprises me too!

      Delete
    3. HI Dara,

I also tried on the classic Wool Mini and will be posting a review on my blog soon. I found the wool to be super scratchy (especially compared to my wool one from several years ago). I also found it a bit snug in my usual pencil skirt size and the seaming at the pockets made my hips look lumpy. Perhaps sizing up would have helped this. HTH!

  23. How much is the swiss dot tippi in store and the jeweled collar sweater? Thanks!

  24. Stopped by a factory (St. Aug) store this morning to do a return and did a super quick look around. New merchandise I didn't see on the website included Heart Me sweaters in both the tan/black and black/green colorways and a version of the burgundy/navy large dot Tippi. There was also a bow intarsia sweater in white/black. Did not stop to check prices or fabric content, sorry, I was rushing with a baby in tow. They were running a promo on the wool skimmers - $49.99, but they are slightly cheaper on line. They were also doing 30% off their clearance - much of the same stuff that they have on Final Sale online with similar prices but with an additional 30% off over online. They did have the grey winnies on Final Sale, I think they came out to about $28 after discount... They were also giving out discount cards with a one time 20% off $125 online at the Factory website, good until 12/1. So it may be worthwhile to stop in if you're in the neighborhood.

  37. pathos - (I just went to try it on again to be sure of my answers) the sleeves are definitely bracelet length, not 3/4 or full. The bow is a separate piece that's tacked onto the blouse so you cannot tie it as shown on the online pics. I tried on the Talitha a while back and only quickly because I didn't care for the gathers at top of sleeves so I don't remember how this compares. But it seems to be easier to put on and take off than other woven fabric pullovers, there's some inherent stretch to the heavy crepe fabric. No tightness in the shoulders, the arms are much roomier on me than the online model. I'd say the blouse falls to the bottom of the trouser zipper placket on me. FYI, I'm 5'2" ish ;)

    4. Pathos, you did the math correct ;), 36" for the chest. I hope we all like our tops! lol

  38. Wondering if anyone has reviewed the Collection Cheetah No. 2 pencil? Can only find a 12 (not sure if there. Was ever a 14) but hoping it is a little big like some S.A. have said. Pix shows less design than. snake print pencil...hopefully, same IRL .

    1. Rashawnda - Review of the brocade cheetah skirt in this post. I'm not sure if it ran to 14. Fabric is 45% viscose, 41% cotton, 9% metallic, 5% polyamide, 100% poly lining -- no stretch. However, I think you can take the smaller of your 2 sizes. HTH

  40. If an item is sold out in your size online and you do a WWFI, does anyone know if they will match the online price and apply the promo? TIA!

    1. Usually they do, but make sure you mention that when you ask them to do the search.

    2. I did a WWFIFY via live chat this morning & they applied the 30% off sale as well as the free shipping promo.

  41. Can anyone tell me the sale prices for Martinas at the stores as opposed to online? (obviously only considering the Martinas that are on sale). Thanks!!

    1. The only one I know about for sure is the leopard print patent ones: they rang up at 169.99.

  42. Hate to post again, but if someone is visiting the factory store and sees the factory square sequin tank, please could you review it? TIA

  43. Has anyone else been laughed at pretty much for trying to find the jeweled collar sweater? I have done wwfify on three different sizes with no results and called dozens of stores myself and have found nothing! Like one XL ! This is so frustrating and everyone's like no we sold out a month ago" ugh. And resellers are continuously newly putting them on eBay so I know they are getting them from somewhere. And a CS rep on live chat told me she hasn't seen one return online in almost 2 months! What gives??

    1. I have a theory, and maybe I am way off, that they took it off the market. It was here in all sizes one day and then gone. It was itchy beyond belief and I loved the look but could not wear it for more than one minute before going crazy. I am wondering if they had so many returns they took it down to save face? Maybe I am wrong. It just seemed like it disappeared in like a day.

    2. I think that cs rep is wrong. I have had it in my shopping cart after pop backs several times in the last 2 months. I tried on an xs instore when it first came out and I wanted to order both the xs and the s to compare. . It has popped back several times but never both sizes at once and of course never when I've had a code or while on promo. I've about given up and I've been stalking everyday!

    3. ebay resellers are probably getting them at clearance centers (like the one in Lynchburg). I actually saw one in a size M at the Arden store yesterday. Wish I had known you were looking...I would've grabbed it for you!

    4. Thanks so much AppGal! I called and it has a small snag on the sleeve :( and it's still like $90. The ones in store are 129 with 30 % off ;/ crazy huh? I did put it on hold though in case another JCA is going crazy for the jewel collar sweater like me. If anyone is looking for a medium in it and doesn't care that it has a small snag, email me it's on hold for me for until tomorrow evening but they don't do charge send so you have to be in that area.

    5. It's available online now xxs small medium and xl !

  44. Has anyone seen the oversize merino sweater in grey, xs in their store? All my local stores are apparently sold out, and online is too. Much appreciated!

  45. Savvy Shopper - I ordered the factory square sequin tank online in the purple orchid color size small and it fits TTS and is a bit longer like most j crew tanks. It has a nice scoopneck (not too low) and is a more fitted style. No sequins on the back though, so it would look best under a cardigan or blazer. The cotton is soft - I could only slightly feel the sequins (unlike the retail drapey sequin tanks). I love the color of the sequins, but the overall color is not good for my complexion so it is going back. Hope that helps!

  46. Very strange, I just got an e-mail from J. Crew in Pleasanton for an event the 28th... but I've never purchased anything at this store? Also, they really need to send these things with the recipients undisclosed.

  47. I logged into my account and saw that I have free shipping today. Anyone else have the same message?

    2. @ Pretty Addicted and Liza

Where did you see this? I logged into my account and NOTHING. Should I do something specific?

      Delete
    3. Yes I posted about this on Friday as well as at 8 o'clock on Saturday morning and several people commented on how helpful it was. J Crew has done this in the past and it is only for select customers

      Delete
    4. It has been on my account since Friday I believe. Not sure if it would drop off if I order something. Still can't decide whether to get the Martina's or whether they will still drop more in price...

    5. I believe it is related to the new j.crew factory website. If you signed up through their "factory first" program, you have free shipping on both factory and retail.

    6. Thanks, everyone! I have been out of town for over a week, so I'm still catching up on things.

AppGal: I think you are right. I forgot I signed up for that, so this was a nice surprise!

TC: You don't need to do anything. If your account has free shipping, it will display a message when you log in.

    7. I did not get the free ship message but I did finally figure out how to get free ship on the regular and Factory website. I went to Factory and clicked on the link for email sign up (even though I already signed up for the new Factory site). Then I went to check out to get free shipping. If I just directly logged onto Factory, no free shipping. Then, if I stayed signed in on the Factory site the free shipping would be available at J.Crew checkout. Kinda complicated but better than spending money for shipping.

  48. The wool city minis in black, charcoal and red were marked down to $49.99 in Pittsburgh's Ross Park store. The additional 25% off took them to about $37 -- not too shabby!

@AM MD - The starburst bracelet rang up as $69.99 on 10/13. I hope it's not a different price at another store. You never know in the Crewniverse.

  50. Hi all! What's the gray top (worn with white blouse and black pants) in today's "How to travel in style" email? It looks like the Jaspe scoopneck popover, but has long sleeves. Thanks!

    1. No, it's definitely the Jaspe scoopneck pullover. She just has the sleeves unrolled. I absolutely love mine and foresee it being a go-to piece this fall/winter. I didn't think that I would adore this much because of the acrylic but it's just so easy to wear. Love the way they have it styled. Just remember to go down a size...it is big.

  51. I've been stalking the Crystal Cluster Necklace, and now that's online to buy, the expected ship date is February 2013?!? I don't own any J.Crew necklaces only because I don't feel comfortable wearing a fancy necklace with something formal or even a dressed down outfit. I just don't want it to look too passé.

    3. Thanks Slastena. Wow, the outfits you paired with the necklace looks pretty. It looks good casual with the puffer vest and semi-formal that you paired it with slacks and a leopard print cardigan. You've just made my decision harder after seeing your photos. ;-)
