  1. J Crew Bridesmaids dresses! I am 99% sure I am going to have my bridesmaids wear them. My wedding dress is a blush color (very light peach with layers of ivory tulle too). I am thinking of putting them in Champagne, but I also like Fawn. The wedding is end of September, so it's transitioning to fall. Anyone have any opinions on those colors? Some of my paler bridesmaids say they won't look good in champagne (of course, they are gorgeous and completely wrong) but I want to be sensitive to their thoughts. I think they will all look great in anything they choose, but what are other opinions on the colors? I also sort of like aged driftwood. Or I am contemplating having them just pick for 2 or 3 colors and having them all in whatever they like!

Finally - is this the best time for them to buy or should they wait for dresses to go on a deeper discount?

    1. As a very pale, fair skinned blond, I will corroborate that champagne is not a flattering color for this skin type. It completely washes you out. At lot of people are doing diff colors for bridesmaids with the same style dress or different style dress in same color. Matchy-matchy is out, so I say let them choose their dress within specific parameters.

    2. I agree - I think the dresses in the same color family would be lovely. Although that's just my two cents, I hate matchy-matchy things. You should do what you are going to LOVE!

  2. I say it's your wedding, do what you want! Personally, I don't think you'll like the outcome of your bridesmaids wearing different colors (in pictures especially). Your wedding dress sounds gorgeous! Mine was a more non-traditional color too. I think the fawn color is what I would pick but Champagne is pretty too (and I've never either IRL).
I can't comment too much about the best time to buy but I do feel like $250 minus 20% is pretty reasonable and comparable to other places. If you wait too long for a deeper discount you might have trouble getting all the sizes you will need? Good luck!

  3. Audrey, if you or one of your bridesmaids could make it to a warehouse sale, you may strike gold. They always have TONS of the bridesmaid dresses.

I am wondering if they aren't going to do the big wedding dress sale this year where they deeply discount certain dresses temporarily. I got my dress during that sale last year - such good deals to be had!

  4. Last year in my sister's wedding we all picked our own style out of the same fabric (the fawn silk taffeta) from J.Crew. Some of the bridesmaids ended up waiting until close to the wedding to buy and the styles they liked ended up selling out. I would say 20% off is a good deal if you want to make sure the selection is there.

  5. Can anyone comment on the fit of the bridesmaid dresses? I am usually between a 0 and a 2 and am considering the Kylie Dress in Crinkle Chiffon for an upcoming wedding (I'm a guest, but it's a beach wedding so I think the chiffon will work). TIA!
