"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Why oh why do they never offer silver-toned jewelry?! I love their necklaces but I don't care for gold on me so I don't own any. I checked out the new arrivals this morning & there is one silver bracelet. Everything else is gold. Wah.

  2. Not too happy about the styles in the new arrivals...I don't want to wear huge falmenco ruffles....who does?

  3. I love the flamenco ruffles! I hope your dislike of them is my gain vis a vis a sale price!

  4. A question for those who've vented about pilling on JC's merino sweaters: Do the merino Tippis pill badly, too?

    1. Mine haven't pilled, but this has been the first winter they've gone through.

Mine haven't pilled at all. I have 10 or so merino Tippi's and I've had some of them for a couple of years. HTH.

    3. Thanks for your responses! With the current promo + 30% off, I just might jump on the Tippi bandwagon.

    4. Haven't noticed pilling on mine, but washing it ruined it. I washed it on delicate cycle and dried it flat, it was a wrinkled shrunken mess. Ironing it didn't help.

    5. Yikes, sorry to hear that, Cate. I always machine-wash sweaters, don't have the patience or tolerance for drycleaning. Maybe Tippi isn't tough enough to survive in the wilds of my laundry room.

    6. It's possible I didn't do it right, but I don't know where I went wrong. If you have good luck with this in general, you'll probably do better than I did with it.

    7. I don't know what kind of washer you have, but I have a front-load Samsung which has a specific setting for wool. I have washed my Tippis on that setting, dry flat & they come out beautifully.

    8. I only have one merino tippi, but it was a pilly mess after one wearing. I bought it two years ago. I haven't bought another one since then.

  5. I sat down with my new catalog, iPad and a glass of wine on Monday night, flagged everything in the catalog that I wanted to check out online and went to the website.....8 out of 10 things I wanted to look at were not yet available on the website. I really don't understand why you would mail a catalog and have the merchandise unavailable. (And I work in Marketing for a company that mails catalogs.) Grrr...

    1. A variation of Boston Brit's vent - The Nike Waffle racers are featured in the June catalog. But sold out in 50% of the sizes on the website =(.

  6. Two out of the two sale items I ordered got canceled today, ugh.

  7. Re: J. Crew's website
It would be great if I didn't have to click on and then zoom in if I want to see an item in closeup.

  8. Good news: Madewell is having a 24-hour sale today. Bad news: It's only on select items and nothing that I've been wanting.
