"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know about the following promotion.

Madewell is offering customers to take an extra 30% off sale with promo code UPANDUP. The offer expires January 26, 2015. The fine print includes:

Madewell even included new items to their sale section so it is definitely worth another look around.

Once again, I wonder if brick and mortar stores are offering 30% off or 40% off sale. If you happen to know, please share!

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion at Madewell? What item are you hoping to pick up? Please share!

  1. I called my local store in bethesda, maryland, at montgomery mall, and they are in fact running 40 percent off sale. also a reminder that store prices are almost always lower than online prices - example being the manuscript dress I wanted went on sale for $119.99 online today, but is $89.99 in store, plus the 40 percent off. I'm glad I called.

  2. Some great items I'm seeing!

Although it looks sold out now, I highly recommend the Blanket Scarf if you can find it (item #09753). It's versatile and cozy.

I am also a fan of the Chevron Crop Sweater (#b4885). The merino is coarser than JC's but the design and cut is flattering in my opinion.

I'm tempted to order a whole bunch but FS scares me. Maybe a trip to the B&M is needed...

  3. Just bought the silk cinch waist dress in red. I tried it on in store when it was full price and it has been sitting in my cart hoping that the final sale price would drop. This morning it said 'only a few left' so I finally bit!

Thanks for letting me know about the store discount. I know this dress sold out a long time ago, but maybe I will go see if they have any of the newer items!

  4. I bought another hole-y scarf :D They're much less bulky and lighter weight. When I wear a normal scarf, it always looks like the scarf is eating my head (this is just me, they always look great on other people). The hole-y ones are better on me.

    1. LOL cate--I have the same problem! I bought my first hole-y scarf today (actually I bought two, the blue/green Nightglen and the red plaid which popped back) and I hope I love them!

I almost took a chance on the cable knit dress In cream, but was scared off by final sale. There is no store nearby for me to try it on and I didn't want to get burned by the review recommendations to size down especially because reviewers are also reporting that it runs short.

    2. I hope you like them! I have the cable knit dress in several colors, last year's and this year's. Last year I bought a Large and this year I bought a Medium, but I can understand not wanting to take a chance on final sale. You could call customer service and ask for an exception, before you place your order. It couldn't hurt to ask. It does run a bit short. I don't wear it as a dress (I probably could, since I'm only 5'4"), but I don't really wear dresses so I wear it with skinny jeans or leggings. It's great on a cold day and I think the sleeves are full length.

  5. I am wearing the mod dot top today. It's 59.99 before discount. Super cute but really weird, tight sleeves. Sleeves are not at all like the fit on model pic from mid-upper-arm down. I got mine final sale, so I had to figure something out because I couldn't even lift my arms to put my hair in a ponytail and almost dislocated my shoulder getting the darn thing off! I do not have big arms, they are normal size. I wear a 0 in JC and ordered an XS. It's not tight in the upper arms, but starts being too tight a couple inches above the elbow, and all around the elbow it's excruciating. But I did find a solution (which is why Im wearing it today!). I cut out the seam under the arm. It has another, inner selvage seam that holds the fabric together. I can sew and use my sewing machine a lot, and I'll be adding a finishing seam right at the edge of that inner selvage. Gave me about another centimeter in sleeve circumference, and I can move my arms now. If the fabric had any stretch it would be fine. This would be a super easy fix for any alteration person. If you really love it, get it at a cheap price and fix. Oh--forgot to mention: fabric is an unstretchy slightly thick, softer taffeta-like polyester. Dots have a raised edge. Doesn't look shiny and cheap. Like that I can (hopefully) machine wash this one. Fingers crossed I don't have issue with that too ;-)

  7. I just ordered this silk midi skirt for $21 after this discount. Its sale price is $29.99 before the promo, which almost seems like a mistake, since it was $128!
