Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Not quite on par with JC but I tried on a pair of kick-flare crop jeans at Target the other day from the Who What Wear line. These were SO CUTE on, I can't even tell you. They had the right amount of stretch & were the most perfect dark blue shade of denim. The rise was nice - mid-rise, not too low nor too high. I would have bought them in an instant had I figured out what kind of shoe I'd wear with them once the weather got colder! Maybe it was the length that was throwing me off (I'm 5'7" but I couldn't see them looking right with flats OR booties.)

Also continuing to have mad love for Gap's slim crop pants. A pair in olive popped back in my size last weekend & for $20, they're on their way to me now. I also received a pair in the beautiful burgundy / maroon colorway & wore them last week. They're perfect! They look $$$ but they're machine wash. They have belt loops, mid-rise, a nice slim (not skinny) leg. The inseam is great as well - 27" for regular which is perfect for me to wear whatever kind of shoe I want. I think they've changed these from a few years ago as I did have a few pairs in the same style but don't remember being so happy with them as I am with the ones I have bought recently.

    1. I also love Gap's slim crop pants. I tried a pair in black first and I was surprised by the quality and fit. Purchased the olive last week which popped back in my size too. I'm hoping for the maroon, but I don't think I'll be as lucky as you. The pockets are see through in the white, just in case anyone's curious.

  2. It's Friends & Family at Lands End and 30% off your order. Worth a look for high quality basics and cashmere if you steer clear of the frumpier styles. Good coats, too.

  3. I received my order from Zady yesterday (referred to the website by a JCA last week during a great sale). It felt like I was opening a gift, everything was so nicely packaged-the most nicely packaged order I've ever gotten. The good: all the third-party items I ordered were keepers, which tells me they do a strong job of curating their offerings. The not as good: neither Zady clothing item I ordered was a win. The tee was soft and had some great ideas, but it had some discoloration and reminded me of a scrub top (vneck was super high). The wool sweater was a bit rough and oddly shaped. It was final sale. The shoulders appear to be almost pleated, which isn't super flattering; I'm hoping that's from being folded, and that a wash will loosen them up.

  4. Tory Burch has extra 30% off if you spend $250 (Code: Fall16); 30% off is also deducted from sale items. Bauble Bar has 25% off; discovered the brand @ Nordstrom & love the Lagos tassel earrings & the Hera tassel earrings; nice substitute for J Crew tassel earrings @ under $40.
