Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I had the chance to visit a Ted Baker store for the first time ever this weekend. I loved the beautiful floral prints, and was surprised to find their printed t-shirts were quite inexpensive. They're more like a blouse than a t-shirt in a drapey Lyocell fabric, with flowy sleeves. I could wear it with jeans as well as a much dressier outfit. I'm normally a size 12/L in JCrew, and bought a size 3 in the Ted Baker sizing. Service was excellent, and the t-shirt/blouse was carefully wrapped and bagged.

    2. I love Ted Baker! I bought a bunch of those shirts at the Heathrow airport. They're so easy to dress up an outfit with. Be VERY careful washing them though - I washed mine and one shrank up a ton (at least 3 inches) and the other puckered on the back (I think it was a different material). I've since washed them on gentle cold large load and very carefully stretched them out and dried on a hanger.

    3. Thanks for the laundry tip! If I shrank mine 3" I wouldn't be able to wear it! I might just hand-wash it to be on the safe side, even though I loathe hand-washing.

  2. I'm one of the few people who doesn't love cashmere but thought I'd share this as a PSA here because I've seen complaints about the declining quality of J. Crew's cashmere. Everlane is reducing their price on cashmere sweaters because cashmere is getting cheaper to make:

  3. I like a lot of the things in the A/W Ines de la Fressange line at Uniqlo - in fact, grabbed a very reasonable velvet blazer and a wine-colored 100% cotton corduroy shirtdress.

  4. Totally a long shot, but does anyone know of a brand that has Everlane-like basics but their hallmark products are skinny pants and a work-appropriate dress? I used to see their sponsored posts pop up on my Facebook feed, and now I can't remember who they are for the life of me. Thanks for the help!

  5. Anthro started 40% off sale prices today! Last time I was doing an in-store return, an SA told me if I was going to place an online order, to please call and let them place it, and I'd get free shipping. So I did! I recommend the Farylrobin Finn Micro Wedge in honey; tried them instore and true to reviews, took my smaller size (1/2 size smaller than my norm).
