Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I've already submitted price adjustment requests for the new 40% sale discount. :)

    1. Damn...my eyes are barely even open!

    2. I emailed for price adjustments as well but I'm certainly not seeing "hundreds of new items" for sale.

    3. That was my exact thought, Anne. Maybe they’re still planning an update because I don’t see anything new.

  2. Maybe it is just me but every item I click on, even stuff that i don't like, is completely sold out. Nothing is available. I don't think it is supposed to work this way but I guess that is good news for JC...???

    1. Either it is too early in the morning to shop or I caught a refresh when the site was updating. Site is working now but still nothing I necessarily have to have, even st 40% off

  3. Looks like the 40% off only works on "sale" items (price ends in .99) not on promo prices (ends in .00 or .50). Pfft.

    1. JC's changing the rules in the middle of the game on this one - their promo prices have been eligible for % off for years, right? If they're not going to apply, the promo items should at least be moved out of the sale section.

    2. When I tried to get a price adjustment that is what I told customer service. It’s really deceiving to the customers to put something in the sale section, but then say it’s not on...sale.

  4. Search isn't working for me on this site: I recall a few ppl mentioning the SLIM BOYFRIEND JEANS IN CHARLES WASH.

sold a few pairs of jeans on Poshmark and I'm always looking for the perfect boyfriend jean to supplement my Goldsign for Jcrew jeans that are my faves. Reports said they ran big but I ordered my smaller size and one size up (my regular size is t available) because I like to wear them lower on the hip. I thought I remember people saying they were really low in price, right now they're 61.99 plus the additional percentage off.

    1. The tall version (which I bought last week) was less than half the price of the regular for some reason, about $30 to start, even less if one of the % things applied. I went down a size because I’m not a fan of too much slouch and getting the tall means they go to my ankles as the regular are slightly cropped. If you’re in search of a true boyfriend fit, I imagine the larger size will work for you. Fingers crossed!

      Delete
    2. I received these today and really like them. I took my normal size and imagine they’ll be slouchy & break in like the Silverwood wash jeans. They ended up being $18.

      Delete
    3. I decided to keep both sizes in the Charles wash jeans. Honestly, there is only a tiny difference between them anyway and the price was right. I'm surprisingly hard on jeans, so I'm sure they won't go to waste.

  5. @Suz Has - only the tall sizes were marked down super cheap.

  7. Yesterday I picked up my online order. It is all going back minus the foulard easy pant. Sale section in store was fairly full and an addl 30% as per signage, but there was not one thing that caught my eye.
contrast ribbed turtleneck - so short and I even got a S instead of an XS!
tall tie-sleeve top with pintucks - too sheer and ill fitting, this was very wide on me even in a TXS
Foulard print easy pant - very pleased with these for the price!
glitter smoking slipper - too stiff and oddly shaped on my foot
tie back sweatshirt - nothing special on my body
tall embroidered bell-sleeve silk top - too wide and material too thin

This order solidified my view that all sweaters/tops/blouses at J Crew are too short and/or too wide for me. I won't try again regardless of the excellent $17 prices per item. I still have the bandanna tippi, gathered front popover, and embroidered black mules on the way.

  8. PSA for all international shoppers: J Crew is offering a new service, they are partnering with UPS now instead of Borderfree. Today it’s free shipping too. I ordered a ringer tee to see how it works. Can only be an improvement on Borderfree 😉

    1. Hi Fleur,

I noticed this as well, but I'm not *as* optimistic, as they've changed the shipping window to 2-10 business days, from the former 2-9 days. Before Borderfree, it was 4-7 days. Living out in the west, it's rare to see deliveries that don't take the maximum timeframe. I wonder if the return process will be affected. Wish they would at least reduce the shipping cost for this slower service.

      Delete
    2. @R I was hoping this would mean a lower shipping fee, but it’s still €15/$18 for the Netherlands. So I’ll continue working with my shipping company where it’s about $20 for 5 orders. And they use Fedex who gets it to me in 4 business days

      Delete
  9. @Cheri I agree with your assessment. I feel somewhat guilty returning items that cost only $10-$20 but the truth of the matter is the fit and/or fabric has been off on so many things. I only place an order or two a month now and keep trying to find things to love but even at the deeply discounted prices there isn’t much for me. Waiting on the Bandana tippi, tie waist top, embroidered bell sleeve dress and embroidered bell sleeve striped top to ship. Emailed for PA as I just ordered yesterday. I hope these items work for me but am not holding my breath.

    1. Yes! I always bring my items home but I'm feeling almost guilty about going right back to return them all. Why? It's not my fault I cannot spend my money there! Lord knows I keep trying! Good luck with your pending purchases, keep us posted ;)

      Delete
    2. Well, I got over that guilt and returned a pair of socks because the fabric was horrid. How else can you send a message that a product is bad, please don't make it again? I'd have returned them if they were free.

I've also ordered the Bandana tippi, I suppose a lot of people did! And a popback of the Collection striped cropped trench coat, crossing my fingers the size is not too big.

@Cheritheberry, I also found the contrast ribbed turtleneck short. But on me it works fine with the high waist of the bow seam pencil skirt, so a keeper. I expect I will wear it with other skirts into Spring.

    3. I've got a $2.99 barrette in my return pile, lol, but I keep forgetting to take it with me when I go. It's no big deal, obviously, but they sent the wrong one and I don't want this one at any price.

    4. @P banos I'm glad the turtleneck worked for you. IT was tough for me to return it but I knew I'd constantly be tucking it into my waistbands.

      @Jeanne - good for you!

  11. Just tried posting from the parking lot but I'm having trouble posting from my phone for some reason.
Anyway, went to make some returns and sale section was 50% off plus there is addl 20 off for card holders. Nothing I wanted from online was in the store or in the sale section but the assoc told me to call for a PA on the order I placed this morning,

CS told me only full price items--nothing reduced or on promo-- will now be eligible for PAs. I know this is actually what it says online but since I've been a frequent shopper they've always granted PAs within 7 days of shipping.

    1. I stopped in to do a quick return - my store had no additional % off sale or at least there was no signage :(

    2. Stores are doing different sale amounts off now. I went to 2 differing percents off last week at two stores same day 10 miles apart. and no extra off sale this weekend in Dc store or Philly.

      Delete
  12. Well this is a first. I just got an email back about my requested price adjustments. Granted, all nominal to ask for another 10% off but I had purchased the love first tee on sale for $17.99 last week with no extra % off so I requested the 40% off. I feel dumb even admitting that I asked for the extra % off but anyway. I was told the tee is no longer on sale so isn't eligible for the extra 40% off. I'm not going to argue that but it's the first time I've had an item go back to regular price (after being a sale price that's not a "promotional" price)...I only see the pink one online. Again, it's not a lot of money and now I'm feeling silly even having requested the adjustment but...still not seeing any consistency as far as application of the policies.

  13. 40% off is great, but why do they have so many pricing games? Some items are now 40% off, but they are significantly more expensive today than yesterday. Also my store had no % off sale at all. They might still be doing 20/30 promo for full price, but they had no signs and none of the SA mentioned any promo at all. With free ship I guess it is just best to order online and skip the store all together.
On the bright side I did get a PA on my one and only order from this sale. Might be returning most of it anyway though.

  14. Don't feel silly asking for price adjustments. Learn to be cheap and ask again and again. Do it over the phone. I use a great VPS and she's just provided additional discounts to whatever I purchased as far back as a month ago. I'm not kidding. BTW received another 15% card. Check those shipments. She even stacked this one. She's been there for years and knows the game.VPS's work only until 7pm keep this is mind.

    1. Good point. My in store SA is amazing - I usually have her do my order adjustments but she has been off for a little while and I decided to email instead of taking her a pile and I won't get to the store this weekend. If you get a good person, they take care of you! Overall, not really a complaint as most of the time J.Crew has fantastic customer service.

    4. I don't know about today, but my local store location almost never has an extra discount on the sale section. I don't really care since they also almost never have anything good there.

  18. If this pricing continues...I will just stop ordering all together.
I don't have time for it anymore...or at least I don't care enough anymore is more correct.

  19. 40% 50% nothing I really want (that is included) so I will pass.

  20. Big update to sale section early this AM. I completely missed the 40% off but there’s nothing I want anymore except popbacks so I don’t mind just getting 30% off instead. I picked up the pink parka, a Parke topcoat (my fourth - have yet to find the right size in a suitable color), the sweater blazer in red and Cameron pants 1 size up. Some good popbacks this AM but mostly size 12 and up.

  21. I requested a PA and of course it is incorrect. Granted the one item I ordered was bumped up to a higher price when the 40% was offered so it wasn’t eligible. My other 3 items were and the amount was miscalculated. I am not even going to complain as it was off by less than $2 and others seem to have gotten denied. I wonder if they really are going to enforce no PA’s on sale items moving forward.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. This newly enforced PA policy is ridiculous. If anything it makes customers not want to buy at full price AND sale price, because you never know if the promo one day will be better or worse a day or a week later, and you’re only allowed one price adjustment per item.

      Delete
    2. @eeps. It is also going to encourage returning and rebuying. I won’t do it for a dollar or two but when the difference is substantial I will just return and rebuy if PA’s aren’t offered.

      Delete
    3. @JessF, yes you are right about the returns. I suspect the PAs will continue for that reason - it's much more costly to process a return and new order than to make an adjustment. That said, I called for a PA on about ten items over several orders for my husband and thought the customer service was friendly and patient. Fortunately everything was within a week (except for a merino sweater he hadn't worn yet that I returned and repurchased at half the price...) Then I used the savings to purchase another two pair of pants, so they got a new order for the trouble.

  22. The pricing games have just got me turned off in general. I though factory was bad, but now it looks like retail is going in that direction. my spending has gone down dramatically, and honestly, that’s okay because I’m learning to love what I have and do more with less. Aside from a few pieces that rounded out my wardrobe, I haven’t bought very much this year. I think I’m okay with that, as much as it makes me sad in a way that I’m not longing for everything in the jcrew style guide.

  23. My store had no extra % off sale yesterday and the new arrivals are honestly sooooo basic. Bland stuff you can get anywhere. Left empty-handed again but I keep trying.

    1. ITA, Ruffles. I stopped in a couple days ago to pick up a ship-to-store order, so I walked through the store and checked out the new merchandise. Nothing really appealed to me. I like the western chambray shirt with the snaps, but I already own several chambray shirts and really don't need more. I also like the red (?) and ivory striped rugby shirt but, again, I already own several and don't need another. If and when those items end up in the sale section at a can't refuse price, I may reconsider them, but for now I'm not interested.

  24. There’s a new tiered midi skirt online (found when I searched midi) which I decided to try with the 30% off and free shipping code that I received the other day. Not sure if it will work (worried the lilac looks sheer on the model), maybe I just really wanted to order something as I keep hoping for better rollouts.
Since March I ordered and kept the ‘Il fait beau tee’, a perfect fit striped tee and vintage pj set. I’ve returned a number of items so I’m really trying to avoid more returns.
I did preorder a pair of curvy toothpicks (even though I’m not curvy) as the rise said 10” and I love the high rise jeans so thought I’d try them at least (they are back ordered until May).

  25. Anybody get the seaside pants in white on popback? I bought two sizes and they are not the pants pictured online. The strings to tie the waistband are white in real life (not gray as pictured). The most surprising thing was the inside tag reads “Point Sur” and nothing about J. Crew. So strange...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @Suz Has right? I will have to return one pair (if I even decide to keep one) so I’m definitely asking my store manager who has been with J Crew for years. I know they’ve sold Point Sur denim but these are white linen jogger style pants and not advertised as being in that line.

    2. Is it this item? Item H7729.
It's new and not on sale

    3. I ordered the white linen seaside pants but I haven't received them yet. I've been wanting a pair of loose fitting linen pants but I haven't been able to find a pair I like. Hopefully these will work out as they're the least expensive ones I've considered. White pants are so difficult to wear, though, so I'm not optimistic.

    4. G4611 is what I ordered. I don’t think they are too see through and I liked the slouchy fit in my typical pants size. I will probably keep. Still questioning the tagging/different color tie though.

  29. Stopped in to check out the easy pant in linen. I liked those in navy and brought them home. Also got a navi tippi to make an event outfit work with chilly temps. I did not like the same pants in white - fit was a bit different and too see through for me but I think they will be good for others.

Also picked up some tops for my daughter. The promo in store was 20% off with J Crew card and includes sale. I did not notice any sale specific signs.

Oh I also tried the button back sweater hoping I could wear as a cardigan. No go for me - it didn't fit right across my chest with the buttons in front.

  30. I received the Drapey Scarf Print Dress today. I am 5'6", 115 lbs and I ordered a 0. The shell is made of 100% viscose and the lining is 100% poly. It didn't look as cheap as I feared and it fit really well. The top was not too blousy and it was fitted at the waist but not too snug. The length hit me mid calf. The dress was not sheer either. The colors were exactly as depicted online.
I would much rather it be made of silk but I am still going to keep it as the fit is very flattering.

  31. I went today to pick up a "ship to store" order. Sale was extra 30% off per the SA's but no signs were posted. There were just a few idle browsers when I was there but one of the SA's was talking to her manager and said the fitting rooms had been completely full where people were waiting earlier. I hope business is picking up, but at the same time, I also in some ways hope sales are slow because the current fashions are so unappealing and nearly unrecognizable as J. Crew to me. There are no pretty prints or bright colors, everything is boxy and sheer, there are shelves of sheer underwear and small makeup items you can find for cheaper and of better quality at big box stores.

    1. Alyssa, yes! I don’t understand the emphasis and floor space devoted to tweenager underwear and nail polish. Unrecognizable as J Crew.

    2. I would rather have the company focus on design and quality than focusing on intimates, La Playa, and 3rd party skin products. What a waste.
Or even use that budget for a style guide..then again some of the designs are sub par that maybe a style guide would be useless.

    3. I agree. There are plenty of other places we can find underwear and skin products. I use to have tons of things I wanted in every roll out and would have to narrow my purchases down to my favorites. Now, I usually like 1 or 2 things and sometimes nothing at all.

  35. I stopped by both Robson and Pacific Centre this afternoon. It was add'l 50% off sale at Robson, and only 30% off at PC. I didn't quite understand the inconsistency, but there was nothing at PC that I wanted to make me bother inquiring. I picked up the Lucie Tartan pumps for $50 CAD, and will wear them next holiday season. Also, I just received an email from CS saying that they would not honour a PA on a Blythe blouse I ordered Thursday night that went on sale a few hours later (Friday) because today the price was higher, and therefore I had received "the best deal". Happened to find the same blouse at Robson, so I just purchased it there for 50% off, and will return the one they send me. What a waste of resources -- both theirs and mine.
